The other thread was too long and wouldn't let me add a new message.

I am 8+3 and as my previous m/c's have been at 9 weeks.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thanks everyone - nice to know I'm not alone in my thinking.

Spats - my hospital is Kings so the scan was done at Harris Birthright, which is run by Nicolaides, who also runs FMC. Same dude, same training, which makes me lucky, but also confused since what happened goes against the advice on the FMC website. Very reassuring to hear your statistics though - thanks for that.

Anyway, I've been to the cinema, eaten chinese food til I feel sick, and feel fairly optimistic about the whole thing now.

Second on the gaviscon - it's brilliant stuff

pooka · 08/03/2009 19:33

Lemonmoon - the FMC was great. Fantastic scan and all bang on schedule.

I also have heartburn. Also, however, have not got round to sending my form off for the maternity exemption. Will put on my "to do" list. Remember well literally drinking gaviscon during the night when pg with dd and ds, and waking up with a gaviscon moustache.

ladylush · 08/03/2009 19:46

Thanks for the well wishes Scorpio and Blue.

How are you Kooky? Fingers firmly crossed for you.

Lemonmoon - Their reaction must have been worrying for you but it's encouraging that the odds are so in your favour. They should just offer a re-scan, I'm sure a CVS must be as expensive if not more so than a scan.

kookykid · 08/03/2009 19:52

Evening all,

Have been trying to keep busy for most of the weekend, but still just so anxious. Have a terrible feeling it's not going to be good news.

I'm glad I am going to work tomorrow - at least the day will go failry quickly. With teaching you really have to leave your problems at the door!

Anyway, this time tomorrow I should at least know one way or the other.

mummyhill · 08/03/2009 20:12

Bad heartburn can indeed make you sick. DH has an hiatus hernia and if he misses his meds he can be violently sick which is no fun as he is an ementophobe.

Gaviscon works wonders I used to carry the tablets round with me constantly when pregnant with the other two as well as having a bottle in the kitchen and one by the bed!

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2009 20:59

you'll get the results then and there kooky?
Will be thinking about you. What time is it?

kookykid · 08/03/2009 21:05

Stealth, I should get the results in the afternoon. How awful is it going to be getting that call?? School finishes at 3.15, so I will be able to have my phone on from then. If they've already called I will have to call them back to get them.

pooka · 08/03/2009 21:07

Good luck for tomorrow Kooky and LadyLush.

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2009 21:31

Can imagine waiting for the call will be a nightmare

lemonmoon · 08/03/2009 22:00

Kooky - will be thinking of you tomorrow. Having had my own anxiety about things this weekend, and nowhere near on the scale of yours, I can imagine how you must be feeling . Fingers firmly crossed.

audreyraines · 09/03/2009 09:04

thinking of you today kookyx

BabyLady · 09/03/2009 10:06

Morning all - hope everyone had a good weekend.

Thoughts are with you today Kooky.

Question for all you 2nd-plus timers out there on weight gain. I am 15 + 5 today and have been weighing myself on a Monday morning once a week to look at gains. I had a couple of weeks off from the gym so didn't measure myself (that is where the scales are) but then last week had put on 1.8kgs which seemed within range for 14+ 5. This week I have gone down 300 grams. I know that is nothing in the scheme of things but when I have been eating normally and no nausea or vomiting, should I be concerned? I know if I ring my doctor they will fob me off but I thought you guys could share your experiences I might feel better?

Worried.

bigbang · 09/03/2009 11:00

Hello all,

I haven't been around for a while and have missed loads of messages, sorry if I have missed some important news- I hope everyone is ok.

Kooky, will be thinking of you this afternoon, all the best.

Lemonmoon sorry to hear you are having worries at the moment. I hope you can get some answers too, another scan in a week or so sounds like a good plan.

Babylady I have also lost weight and I am not sure where it went! I was shocked to discover I have lost 5 kg, which is a lot really. I have had nausea and a little bit of sickness, and my only guess is that it was affecting me more that I realised. I have still been eating (mostly unhealthy stuff, I went off fruit and veg in my first pregnancy too ) but slowly and in small quantities. I don't think there is much reason to be concerned, I was a little bit seeing as I haven't been as sick as last time (I lost more but hardly ate anything for 8 weeks so to be expected) but my midwife didn't bat an eyelid when I mentioned it. I am pretty sure that small fluctuations in weight (a pound or two) are fairly normal in most people, pregnant or not. If you weight yourself at different times of the day or in different clothes etc it can have an effect.
Thats my experience anyway, sorry for the rambling!

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2009 11:11

Hi bigbang

lemonmoon · 09/03/2009 13:38

Quick update - I heard from the FMC today that their policy is now not to rescan after a week, because even if things change they don't alter the original risk. They have said that with me they'd be repeating the test entirely, so I might get a completely different risk. Think I'll make an appointment...

babylady My midwife's only advice on weight was to throw the scales away (yeah right - I'm so not taking her advice). I think 300g could be that you've not eaten such heavy meals recently, that you're retaining less water, that you're back at the gym and that's burnt off a little extra lard you might have gained in those two weeks off. I've lost a pound this week, but I think that's because I have more energy and I'm back at the gym, and my appetite is smaller so I'm not having second breakfast.

audreyraines · 09/03/2009 15:50

i think weight fluctuates day to day in a normal person anyway.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 09/03/2009 16:56

Thinking of you Kooky

Got first scan tomorrow afternoon (13+4) - excited but nervous. Not looking forward to drinking all the water before I go. Haven't told mum as we want to tell people before she does. Sounds harsh but she's told everyone I'm pregnant already!

kookykid · 09/03/2009 17:04

Results back....

All clear for Edward's and Down's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't believe it. And we know the sex......!

BabyLady · 09/03/2009 17:08

Kooky - such great news. Congratulations!!! Relax and enjoy now!

lemonmoon · 09/03/2009 17:21

oooh! That's brilliant news kooky!

Snowfalls108 · 09/03/2009 17:34

Congratulations Kooky! You must be so happy.
And how exciting to know the sex this early.

audreyraines · 09/03/2009 17:42

kooky congrats, so happy for you!

ladylush · 09/03/2009 18:01

Fantastic news Kooky So delighted for you I can well imagine how relieved you must be feeling. Just goes to show how unreliable the screening tests can be. Not that I'm knocking them - it's great that they can identify possible high risk women. Just very scary when you're in that position. I'm pretty sure when I was pg with ds, it was just the nuchal fold - no blood test.

Well was dreading today's nuchal (thanks for remembering Pooka )I'd been trying the dopplers all week with no success which though I tried to be pragmatic about, did not give me the reassurance I wanted that baby was still alive. Spent all weekend fearing the worst, then last night after lots of practice I managed to get the hb. 148bpm. That was a great feeling and helped me get a good night's sleep. Anyway, today the scan went well. Baby was asleep initially but soon woke up and then didn't stop moving All looks fine at this stage. Blood results were not back so unfortunately they couldn't calculate my risk but nuchal fold was fine at 1.60 translucency. Might not hear til Thurs so a bit more waiting. Anyway, the main thing is baby is alive and looks well One step at a time at this stage. Would be lovely to get a low risk result this week so that we can tell family and friends.

Purple - are you sure you need to have a full bladder? I didn't.

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2009 18:13

no time to catch up just popped on to see news from kooky, can't find her post but get the gist

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2009 18:13
