The other thread was too long and wouldn't let me add a new message.

I am 8+3 and as my previous m/c's have been at 9 weeks.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Baby Show was ok yesterday. I think it would have been better if i had a) been a first time mum or b) been further along pg wise and could actually buy stuff. All the decent stalls were heaving so it was quite difficult to have a look at anything.

12wks today - woo hoo. Am hoping that i can now start feeling more human. Scan on Friday morning so on count down now.

Snowfalls - I'm in South London (Croydon).
Early afternoon is a good time for a scan - can have a civilised breakfast before you go and can empty your bladder after a night of no weeing, whilst still having time to replace fluids for the scan

Oasis jeans good for ample bottoms lol - it's true

Didn't think of New Look. Will have a look at their range. I managed with just a couple of things when pg with ds but I was smaller then and I just can't kid myself this time that my existing clothes will fit. My jeans are already tight and my tops straining in the bust area I need to get some more maternity bras and a sleep bra for night. My boobs are so painful at night. Whenever I roll over I groan! When this bleeding stops I need to get a swimsuit so that I can attempt to be fit during this pg.

ladylush · 01/03/2009 11:35

Snowfalls - I was only accepted by my chosen hospital last Friday, so that's why I haven't had my scan date yet.

peachygirl · 01/03/2009 21:03

Good news about your hospital Ladylush.
I am in the south of the borough too.

On the mat clothes front. Last time I got some great stretchy black trousers from M and S. If you are working my advice would be to find some trousers you like then buy three pairs! You can get jeans for the weekend then too. This worked really well for me. It's a pity that these trousers won't be suitable for the height of summer.
I have the opposite problem to you ladylush I'm small so will have to do some adjustments with my sewing machine!

I got a few nice bits from JoJo Bebe Maman too, in particular a hoody type jacket which will be great this time round.

bobber · 01/03/2009 22:47

ladylush - Im beginning to doubt how reassuring the doppler is after all... we just had a frantic 5 days not finding the hb after consistently finding each day . I think the placenta had moved to the front (sounded like loads of waves crashing) & could finally hear bubs in the very distance last night tucked behind the waves. So I really do think at our stage they are hit & miss & shouldnt be relied on. Im sure they'll be really useful later on.

On the clothes front, I too can really recommend the waist extender thingy (or hair band through button hole) covered over with a newlook bump band over the top to hold it all in place. I had such probs with DD getting anything to fit for this stage, but this combo means I can dress smart for work or casual.

Having a nightmare with my spd. In agony & on crutches now & just been on 3 days complete bed rest to try to bring down inflammation. Physio said to try bedrest as Im desperate to stay at work for a bit longer - she said my pelvis is so unstable that I will need to be off for rest of preg v.v.soon. The guilt Im feeling is immense being a teacher - I want to be off for 9 months mat leave, so if I go this soon I'll be off for well over a year & I feel so bad about my students, particularly as I teach SEN children.

blue76 · 02/03/2009 07:13

Bobber - I hope your spd doesn't get you down too much. I had it with my last pg (10 yrs ago), so I really feel for you. I also work with SEN children in a v large secondary school. Your health is far more important...

So glad leggings are in fashion this time around!!! Ive found primark ones sit nicely under the rapidly increasing bulge. Why do I feel like I look 5 months pg???

bobber · 02/03/2009 07:51

Thanks for that blue76. Im secondary too .

I so wish my legs were up to leggings - I think that its such a flattering, trendy & comfy look. Trouble is my legs look chunky at the best of times, but with DD I looked like I had a serious tree trunk disorder going on from the swelling .

TigerFeet · 02/03/2009 10:03

Bobber I'm sorry to hear that your SPD is so bad already I do hope that a good rest gives you some respite. If it's any consolation (which it probably isn't ), i'm not built for leggings either, I have no ankles and rugby player legs at teh best of times but whilst pg, well, lets say that wide legged trousers are kindest for everyone. I'm wearing maternity trousers today but with only the teeniest bump I feel a bit of a fraud. None of my other clothes fit though.

mumtobe23 · 02/03/2009 11:47

Hi all, my scan is tomorrow at 3.30 its so near now but still seems so far away, today and tomorrow morning will drag!!

I bought a few really nice work tops from Dorothy Perkins, I personally think there maternity range is quite good at bluewater. Wasn't too impressed with H&M but they were having a sale so hopefully they'll get some new summery bits in soon.

Also had to buy some non-underwire bras from mothercare - £22 for two! Dont know if its true but the lady who measured me was shocked i was wearing under-wire bras at 13 weeks telling me they affect the milk ducts and to stop wearing them ASAP- anyone else heard of this? xx

TigerFeet · 02/03/2009 12:39

mumtobe23, I have heard that underwiring can affect the development of milk ducts and afaik women are advised to wear non wired bras from 2nd trimester onwards. However I don't think there is so much of a problem if the bras are properly fitted and the underwiring doesn't dig in anywhere. This does mean that you need new bras a lot more often, as obviously underwired bras aren't as forgiving when it comes to expanding boobs.

I'm 11+5 today and still wearing my underwired bras, but I've lost a lot of weight recently so any increase in boob size has been counteracted by weight loss. I'll probably need to move to non-underwired soon though. I seem to remember from my last pregnancy (way back in the mists of time lol) that I was far more comfortable, if not quite so pert , in non-underwired bras. M&S are good iirc, and cheaper than mothercare. They don't need to be maternity imvho, sports bras of just bog standard non wired bras do just as well.

ladylush · 02/03/2009 15:18

Bobber - I had bad SPD with ds but it was diagnosed early and somehow I managed to stay at work til the end. I hope I don't get it again. Ikwym re guilt. I'm a MH nurse and have a largish caseload. I felt terribly guilty about being off sick recently, god knows how I'm going to feel if I have to take extended sick leave. I'm fairly pragmatic re dopplers and trying not to get too obsessed with it. Think dh is more obsessed than me. I told him we can't try again until Weds when I'll be 12 weeks You must have been relieved when you finally heard lo.

I've got my nuchal next Monday. Nervous.

ladylush · 02/03/2009 15:19

How did it go Snowfalls?

Snowfalls108 · 02/03/2009 16:02

Hello!
It was amazing! So exciting. A proper real life very wriggly baby.
It was waving, kicking, and even did some kind of jump at one point. Legs, arms, hands, strong heart beat, and from what the scan could see very thin layer of liquid so nuchal test looking good as well. Got some great pictures and it's all such relief.
They've moved my due date forward to the 13th September which makes me officially 12+1 today - yipeee! . So all round very happy and feel on such a high.
Got booked in for the 20 week scan which is on 28th April - next month! That is scary.

Think I better go and get shopping. I've been holding off buying any maternity stuff but my boobs are bursting out.

Have you heard anything Ladylush?

ladylush · 02/03/2009 16:06

That's brill Snowfalls So pleased for you Always good for dates to be put forward too I've got my nuchal next Monday. I've also got triple bloods this Friday. Hopefully results will be in by the time I have my scan.

Snowfalls108 · 02/03/2009 16:41

that's great - good to have a date to look forward to. I will have my fingers crossed for you.

audreyraines · 03/03/2009 07:39

hi everyone, got my scan this morning, has been a long time coming it seems. hopefully they hospital doesn't mess around, i haven't had the smoothest run as yet i'm afraid. but still looking forward to seeing the little bean.

detoxdiva · 03/03/2009 07:45

Great news snowfalls - my 20 week scan is 28th April too

Good luck audrey today

lemonmoon · 03/03/2009 08:20

Great scan news Snowfalls. Good luck for the scan today, audreyraines.

Tigerfeet and bobber I've also got chunky legs, with big calves that look appalling in skinny jeans, if I could actually get them on. Luckily I already knew that so I've avoided buying any this time round. I love a bootcut/wideleg, because even if I don't look up to the minute I don't look like I'm standing on two badly filled sausages.

Looked at maternity stuff yesterday but still felt like a fraud and couldn't choose anything. Maybe I'll wait until after the scan on Friday.

mumtobe23 · 03/03/2009 08:42

Morning, My scan is also today, its this afternoon though so a bit of a wait, grr!
I'm so excited yet so nervous! I hope your scan goes well today audreyaines & congrats on all the other great scans aswell!

BabyLady · 03/03/2009 09:14

Morning ladies, congrats on scan news Snowfalls! Best of luck for the next scans coming up today (Audrey and Mumtobe)

Bit the bullet in the weekend and brought some new bras. Need to get some new sports bras for the gym too but couldn't face double the expense. Did go for underwire ones which I know is probably not best but at a DD I can't quite face doing without them quite yet! Anyone else having itchy nipples. Comes and goes, but is driving me insane.

ladylush · 03/03/2009 09:37

Good luck with scans mum2be and audreyraines

ladylush · 03/03/2009 09:44

Kooky if you're lurking......hope you are ok. Did you speak to the m/w or fetal unit?

erhianj · 03/03/2009 11:27

Lovely scan news exiting times x x

kookykid · 03/03/2009 11:47

Hi - have my appointment at 2pm this afternoon. I didn't call them in the end - I'm quite clear in my head about wanting the detailed scan rather than the CVS, and DH is behind me 100%. I am holding out OK, but know I'll be a mess later.

Will let you know how I get on.
