I found folding DDs muslin nappies very statisfying. In a mind numbing, theraputic way.

Febes · 20/02/2009 19:01

By the way I got the results for my GTT and its all normal no GD for me. My sister said its a standard test for everyone in NZ. I didn't have one last time but this time I had one because of a high BMI . I am a bit heavier than pre DD but not too bad. Anyway I don't have it so I glad about that.

Momino · 20/02/2009 20:47

I can't believe how quickly we went through this thread! Am off now to see if I can think of a witty thread title ...

chocolatefrog · 20/02/2009 20:51

Momino - i went to the doc's when i was 12 weeks pg because i was concerned about PND returning and i was feeling down again. She referred me to a councillor but unfortunately as it's the NHS i've only seen her once, and i'm now 28 wks! I am seeing her again next week and she said we an do strategies for coping and hopefully avaoid some of the potential triggers. I am very up and down emotionally at the moment and could probably do with seeing her more often. I think if it does return or i do feel i'm getting worse as the pregnancy goes on i may consider seeing somebody privately on a more regular basis. Do you have any support? Are you still on AD's?

Euromom - i did read that the kari-me can be hot, i doubt very much we'll have a summer so i'm not letting that put me off. I guess for you it might be a deciding factor though.

I've just eaten a big packet of maltesers and feel quite sick now!!

detsy · 20/02/2009 21:14

Oh I need chocolate really badly, but DP is trying really hard to lose weight as his cholesterol is really high so it seems unfair to a) ask him to go and get me some and B) eat it in front of him

I bought a close baby carrier as I wanted a mix of wrap round and ring styles. We already have a baby bjorn but its too rigid for tiny ones IMO

I think I'm still decided on the icandy pear for my double buggy

I've been super mum today - we went swimming this morning as lessons were off as its half term, then we went for a walk this afternoon - very slow process with a toddler who's learning about walking and fed the ducks - so am shattered

Febes my DD is doing the same tho I manage to get by with 2 spoons most of the time - if she gets cross or thinks i'm intervening too much she flings everything across the room.... splash mats IMO are useless and need to be the size of the room! If dad is home then every mouthful she does herself has to be witnessed by him or she gets cross She's also very into beads/bangles and self selects costume jewellery every morning - she looks like a little hippy clanging along

detsy · 20/02/2009 21:21

I think I'm the oldest (eldest??) on here and haven't had any tests for GTT - had 28 wk bloods for anaemia but thats all

FiKelly · 20/02/2009 21:50

evening just nabbed laptop from dh for a while...

Unfortunately I'm back to having problems with the piles again so no able to eat much until I get to the loo! tmi

momino I just noticed how many posts we've reached too!

for thread titles how about...
There's a bun in my oven and it's making me HOT! HOT! HOT!

We've all got bumpalicious baby bellies & heading into the last stretch...

flippineck · 20/02/2009 21:53

sausagenmash - your IO denim skirt, have you put it on ebay yet? I might be seriously tempted if you can tell me how long it is (in inches) and what kind of 12 is it - mean or generous, iyswim?! I don't buy on ebay.

Re maternity clothes generally - has nayone seens any nice long or 3/4 sleeve t-shirts anywhere? I like the look of the M&S ones, but I don't want black or white, I'd like some colours.

FiKelly · 20/02/2009 21:56

detsy i did the 2 spoons too... this worked until DS decided he wanted both! febes I felt one splash mat was never enough too

flippineck · 20/02/2009 21:57

lol Fi at ssuggested thread title, I like it! I am now at the permanently burning up stage, was out alking today in a t-shirt and jeans, DD (22 months now) was getting quite cross with for not wearing a coat, hat or gloves!

flippineck · 20/02/2009 22:03

sorry about all the typos tonight, I think my keyboard might be playing up

Febes · 20/02/2009 22:04

I also do the 2 spoons thing but she knockes my spoon onto the floor or grabs it sending the food flying. She is better when I give her a bowl and then potter around the kitchen. She barely spills a drop. I don't have a splash mat just a mucky kitchen floor!!

I've just added a funny pic I took today of DD eating her custard and making a right mess.

llareggub · 20/02/2009 22:19

Who saw the M&S top? I have one of their three quarter length sleeve tops and it came in a lovely colour blue. The rest of my maternity stuff comes in black or white, but I've managed to continue wearing a lot of my normal tops as I tend to buy fairly long tops anyway.

FiKelly · 20/02/2009 22:23

Febes at the photo of your DD she obviously liked it very much.. that smile is priceless!

detsy · 20/02/2009 22:25

Great pic febes - what a cutie pie! So very glad as well that its custard in a pot - phew

Whats her routine out of interest? I've been strugglign with Lots re sleeping, wanting milk (she shouts drink like Father Ted old geezer!) crying and wanting pick ups.

Fingers crossed the last few nights we seem to have cracked it again. She has breakfast and beaker of cows milk at about 7ish, then lunch and high tea at nursery (mid week), tea at home (usually something like spinach pasta, brocc/cauli cheese etc) then bath and bottle of aptamil at bed (bout 7pm) Water and cows milk through the day

Belgianchocolates · 20/02/2009 22:31

Euromum my SIL is a trainee doula in Belgium, so she should be able to tell me where to get find one. She's looking for her first few own clients, but she's obviously looking not too far away from Gent, which is her home.

re cot matresses: I decided to reuse mine. I bought a really good quality waterproof one for my dd and after 2 years of use, it is still like new. TBH how heavy is a baby and how much use does a cot mattress get really. I wouldn't buy a second hand one, but between siblings I can't see the problems. Neither of my 2 have ever been ill or anything, so I can't imagine too many bugs living in there.

Re title: definitely something to do with being hot hot hot! It's been the 'hot'topic of the week.

I recognise that nappy obsession. That was me only a few weeks ago and I'm sure the bug will come back to bite me later, because I've only bought 10 nappies and I want a few more different ones.

detsy · 20/02/2009 22:32

Sick and tired of all my maternity clothes - maybe we should all have a swapsie session!! Also fed up of black and white but amazed at the cost of stuff. Bought some 3/4 length pants from e bay (from Poland) so should be an interesting purchase when they arrive Only £12 so can't complain really!

HOwever so very pleased at the few posts tonight about coughing and sneezing accidents as very glad am not alone!!

Febes · 20/02/2009 22:36

DD doesn't drink much milk but has milk on cereal and in cooking and lots of dairy. On my days off she has breakfast at 8ish then lunch at 12ish and dinner at 5ish with snacks in between. She normally sleeps for about 2 hours after lunch. She goes to bed at 6.30-7 and wakes at 7am but she has been waking during night all week and takes a while to get back to sleep. I BF her till 12 months so she's not too keen on normal milk and has mostly water for drinks.

Jennster · 20/02/2009 22:42

Febes I bought these for my ds the other day. Think they would be lovely for a girl to. They actually look a little naff in the packet, but brilliant on the bed. I agree about their curtains. Very thin, and think this fabric only comes in tab top.

Febes · 20/02/2009 22:44

Jennster- That is a great fabric I saw it last night when I visited ikea again 3rd time in a fortnight.

SpangleMaker · 20/02/2009 22:47

Just scrolled through today's posts with one hand whilst texting detsy with the other - 21st century multi-tasking!

Braxton hicks what do they feel like? Over the last couple of days I've noticed my bump going really tight, esp at the top, for a few minutes or so then it gradually wears off. Actually yesterday I was worried as bump felt v tight all day & hardly felt any movement at all. Maybe LO was just having a rest... anyway he's certainly made up for it today, feels like he's auditioning for Riverdance in there!
