grumpy, lovely photos, gorgeous girls. the pig one made me laugh....

FiKelly · 10/02/2009 15:38

grumpy no nose bleeds here... but i know if i get a lot of colds and everything up there gets aggravated then i am prone to a few...

I thought after ds running around at playgroup this morning i'd get an easier afternoon... no such luck. It's been one of those afternoons when he has the attention span of a gnat and flits from one thing to another with me trying to teach him to tidy up the first lots of toys before he gets the next lot out.. with not much success and a bit of terrible 2's. 1 1/2 hrs till dh comes home... not that i'm clock watching!

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 10/02/2009 15:40

Grumpy - yes to the nosebleeds! Not necessarily full flowing but bloody snot constantly.

I have the rest of the day off work as got routine MW appointment.

FiKelly · 10/02/2009 15:44

BTW if anyone is thinking of purchasing stuff from mothercare... I just got an email from them with a voucher/code for 10%off (nearly everything) till sunday 1st march 09. Enter VL9 at checkout if online & I don't know if this link will work for the voucher you can print off and use in store but will give it a go... www.mothercare.com/b/120888031?&extid=EMC-2654c

FiKelly · 10/02/2009 15:45

yay! it does work

frazzledoldbag · 10/02/2009 19:31

grumpy - beautiful children

I feel a bit like that photo ..... or at least I did yesterday wearing my new mono-boob inducing horror bra.
(Back in my underwired today - sssshhhh, don't tell anyone)

Itching much better today so maybe was just being neurotic. But have eaten healthily today as got in a right panic about the whole liver thing so am intending to cut fat right down anyway. Good for the size of my behind if nothing else!

Just been looking at photos of the octuplets in the newspaper. So tiny and so sweet. Made me very broody. God knows how that poor woman will cope having 14 kids though , the mind boggles. Some days I barely cope with my 2 (3!!!!). DD2 can't understand how she's managed to have all those children when she DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A HUSBAND. Bless!
I did try to explain but she looked horrified and changed the subject.
DH cooking me a lovely dinner so better go and eat it.
Be back later probably. x

FiKelly · 10/02/2009 19:54

frazzle DD2 and her confusion with no husband & 14 kids is so cute!

SpangleMaker · 10/02/2009 21:18

Grumpy gorgeous girls! like the pig I know how you feel!

detsy yep we should deffo meet up sometime & compare blue bumps When's good for you?

DH and I discussed names again last night. Ptolemy/Tolly still at no. 1 although DH has decided Ferdinand is his current favourite (but it changes every couple of weeks). We both like George but as it's my brother's name I've said it can be a 2nd name. PIL have been looking at family history & suggested Abner - never heard of it before. Hmmmm... 11.5 weeks left to decide.

flippineck · 10/02/2009 22:18

Grumpy yes to nosebleeds and yes to kicks in the wotsit too! Nosebleeds seem to come and go - I haven't had a full one for a couple of weeks (but then it was about 10 days in a row) but as Ses said, it's almost permanent bloody snot. Nice!

Re the kicking - it's quite uncomfortable at times, and makes me think I need to go to the toilet very quickly (although I don't need to, iyswim).

DH and I are really struggling with boys names, we just can't agree on anything.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 10/02/2009 22:18

Frazz

The pig is deffo how I feel, my maternity bras are a bit small, so I have those weird 'boobs on boobs' where you get the extra bit busting out. Yet another 'pregnancy glamour' to add to the list

Apparently DD2 was grilling DH about how the baby got in my tummy the other day, he said he got quite flustered.

I am trying to eat healthily too, cherries for pud tonight (I cannot get enough cherries and blueberries at the moment), but I did eat a cheese and pickle sandwich, crisps and 3 biscuits for lunch

pulapula · 10/02/2009 22:26

Just checking in- love the photos grumpy- especially the piggy one .

spangle- i like Tolly but not sure how it would go down in sheffield. Think Freddie is still my favourite. It's funny to think that with our DS we only had 1 name we both liked so we called him "baby Ben" even at this stage and DD knew him as baby ben too. She sometimes said "baby ben" to other people (we had said we didn't know what sex we were having) but as her diction wasn't that clear, we managed to laugh it off as "baby bear".

We also like Ollie/Oliver but not sure if Oliver Foster is a bit repetitive IYKWIM. We moved away from this name when DHs friend Ollie was in that Bangkok fire at New Year and it felt a bit uncomfortable but now it seems he is recovering well (physically anyway). He was flown back to the UK a week ago, and is in hospital but almost ready to be discharged.

pulapula · 10/02/2009 22:37

As for nosebleeds- i don't have full blown bleeds, but am continually stuffy, and also have bloody snot. Think stuffy nose is another pg symptom (or else its a very mild lingering cold).

For those with SPD, do you sometimes feel like one leg is longer than the other? Had this today after a work trip which involved trains/walking.

Belgianchocolates · 10/02/2009 22:43

Back from my very last labour ward shift. I feel broken again and can barely walk, even though they were very gentle on me. Looks like it's the deliveries that do it to me. Thank god I can stick to the ante/post natal wards now.

Anyway. Grumpy: check on the being kicked in the bum from the inside, that's my lo's 2nd favourite target after my bladder and s/he has been doing it from the minute I felt its first kick! Also getting nosebleeds a lot too, not always full on but like you permanent bloody snot. I had that with my other 2 too and I find it very annoying.

I'm starting to get clumsy too. Dropping nearly everything and annoyingly bump is in the way so I can't pick the dropped things up easily

The boy's name suggestion were good. DH and I can't agree on a name for either sex, so what have you guys got for girl's names?

Grumpy like your pictures. Your dd can grin just like mine!

Right, bedtime now. Hope I wont be too stiff tomorrow

divedaisy · 11/02/2009 09:57

Good Morning! I have a anti-natal appointment this morning and althoughI'm not expecting to be scanned, I am hoping I will be cos I'll be asking 'THE QUESTION'!! So will let you all know IF I find out!

alapala - when you said your DD equates 'Angelina' with you, I immediately thought of Angelina Ballerina - see all my thinking is pink orientated!! This one just HAS to be a girl!

Detsy - I too love Harrison. Unfortunately DH doesn't - a big 'NO' and nil discussion! It would be a great name for my ds as he's Indiana Jones and Star Wars (Han Solo) MAD! I'd shorten it to Harry. I really want that name if this bean is blue!!

Grumpy - DS & I were on our way to school the other morning and there was a dog sitting at a gate. I commented on how good she or he was. DS asked me how I would know if the dog was a girl or a boy. I told him - if it had a willie it would be a boy, but because I couldn't see (hairy dog) I couldn't be sure. Then he asked 'do girls have willies?' No. 'How go girls do wee-wees?' - they have a wee hole but not at the end of a willie. 'Why do boys have a willie?' You'll find out when you're older(!!!), but girls don't need one the same way boys don't need boobies' He laughed at the thought of a boy with boobies!! Bless him!

My names:
BOYS:
Oliver (Ollie)
Harrison (Harry)
Nathaniel
Jonathan
Reuben
Matthew
Tobias (Toby)

GIRLS:
Phoebe
Sophia
Victoria
Jemima
Jessica
Rachael
Susannah
Maddison (Maddie)
Olivia

Middle names for a girl:
Rose
Grace

Can't think of a middle name if it's a boy.

See you all later - away to appointment! And then to buy new mattresses for moses basket and crib! (And maybe a few outfits if I find out the colour!!!)

FiKelly · 11/02/2009 10:05

morning it's been about a month ds has been sleeping in his bed rather than cot.. this morning he's eventually realised he can get out on his own. my alarm clock this morning was the sound of a door opening, the pitter patter of little feet and then a morning mummy as he climbed into bed with me.. for all of 2 seconds before he was demanding breakfast. it was 7.45 so no complaints from me about getting up then.

our favourite girls names are rose and grace, iona a possibility too but that might be a bit confusing with me being Fiona..

FiKelly · 11/02/2009 10:15

and if we do use grace she'll be grace kelly!

divedaisy will hope you do get a scan and at ds boys and boobies/willies. fancy your middle name choices being the same as our first name choices! obviously we both think they're great together

FiKelly · 11/02/2009 10:17

on my phone at mo and it missed off my smiley face for ds..

frazzledoldbag · 11/02/2009 10:37

oooh Fi go for Rose or Rosie. I love, love that name and would have used it myself for one of my 2 girls if I didn't already have a neice and a step-neice called Rosie. Didn't think we could manage 3 in the family with the same name. Boo. Rose Kelly is gorgeous. Gorgeous. Gorgeous.

Still not liking any boys names (well, that's not entirely true but the ones I do like seem to be taken by my enormous family) - 17 nieces and nephews at the last count plus loads of friends having babies all over the place and nicking my names. How dare they! The last 3 babies born in the last couple of months have all been boys; Alistair (was on my list), Brodie (was also on my list) and Harvey (not on my list but the name of one of my nephews but otherwise may well have been on my list). Huff. Huff. Huff
DH wants Hamish. I say NO.
Makes me think of a man in a kilt holding a haggis with a ginger beard on a tin of shortbread. (am english although live in Scotchland).

Have to go and pick tiles now. Should have done it on Monday.........oh god am so behind this week. Exhaustion has really kicked in. Not good when one is self-employed!

Byeeeee

pulapula · 11/02/2009 10:47

Divedaisy-

Don't worry- I also thought of Angelina Ballerina rather than Jolie .

I also love your willies/boobies chat. My DS (19mo) laughs and points at my "front-bottom" when i have been to the loo/got out of the shower- it's not that funny, honest. And DD (4) has started to draw all her people with belly buttons- when asked why, she lifted her top and said "look, see, because people have tummy buttons" and we said, "yes, but you can't see them when they have clothes on" and she said "but the picture is just before they put their swimming costumes on so you can see them"...ahhh, that explains it then....lets hope she doesn't start adding willies and boobies too...

Belgianchocolates · 11/02/2009 11:02

My DD(5) also seems oblivious that boys have willies and girls don't. I read 'Hello Baby' to her the other day, a book about a home birth. When the baby is born it's obviously naked and I said it's a baby boy. She asked me how did I know, I said because he's got a willie, she asked again, "yes, but how do you know it's a boy", me again "He's got a willie and only boys have willies" and that went on for some time, same question same answer, until my DS(7) came in, confirmed what I said and she finally believed me

I'm off today and there's aquanatal at the local swimming baths this afternoon. I think I'll give it a go and see what it's like.

FiKelly · 11/02/2009 11:28

frazzle rose is our no 1 favourite for our girl.. if the sonographer made a mistake then fearghas is our favourite for a boy.. well the only boys name we agree on!

all the boobs willies and front bottom stuff is making me ds hasn't really taken much notice yet.. so i've got all this to look forward to. he does fiddle with his willie briefly in the bath.. but not in a tugging way.. he likes to erm see if it fits in holes in his toys eg. plastic cups etc! to which i say you don't want to do that.. and he says oh yes! thankfully this only happens in the bath and most of the time the toys are more interesting in themselves

Lazzer · 11/02/2009 11:43

It's so weird, my middle name is Rose and I used to get quite bullied/picked on/laughed at for having it at junior and secondary school . It wasn't until I was at uni when people started saying "that's a really pretty name" etc, that I started to feel a bit more confident about it. I now know 3 people who have recently used it for their DC's middle names. I used to be so ashamed of it and now I really like it! Funny how times change...?

LoobyLou36 · 11/02/2009 11:56

Morning

We're also thinkng Rose for a middle name after my DH Nanny Rose and my mum who's middle name is Rose.

So far thinking Mathilda (Tilly) Rose for a girl
altho DH like Scarlett Rose

LoobyLou36 · 11/02/2009 12:07

Had a phone call I found funny this morning.

I had to ring the hospital to double check whether I needed to have the Anti D Injection as I am Rhesus Negative and DH is O Negative. The women on the other end of the phone said it was my decision that I had to make an informed choice on, given the previous information given to me by the midwife.

Which was her very roundabout way of asking whether I was sure my hubby was the father

I actually said this to her and she said yes that was right but that she wasn't obviously allowed to directly ask that over the phone.

I just wanted a straight answer but it did make me

LoobyLou36 · 11/02/2009 12:08

So no injection for me

I HATE needles but would obviously had it done if necessary
