polony do you think they would do acupuncture on me being pg? It was like a miracle last time although it was done postnatally. It was years ago but I do remember him going on about my liver and kidneys having blockages due to being under strain from the pregnancy, which caused the toxins not to be excreted and collect under my skin (or something like that) which caused the itch. Made sense really. He also did a bit of Rekhi on me which was nice. Don't know if it was helpful but definitely relaxing. He was a bit of an old hippy but very kind and I was very, very grateful to him. Unfortunately we don't live in Edinburgh any more (though it's only an hour away) but I also don't think his practice is there any more.

detsy · 09/02/2009 22:13

Frazz I know what you mean about being a bit freaky - we seem to be very similar indeed!!

I think its also worth trying homeopathy for your itchy and scratchy show but god knows what you would need to talk to someone. DP gone upstairs to scan pic of bluepipsqueak so will be on there soon I hope - dependent upon my IT skills!!

FiKelly · 09/02/2009 22:20

i'm heading off to bed early tonight... keep your fingers crossed my swollen ankles go down night everyone xoxox

frazzledoldbag · 09/02/2009 22:22

llare - sorry to hear about your rashy/itchy thing. Cholestasis (as far as I am aware) doesn't usually have a rash with it so hopefully it's not that for you. But you have my total sympathy - itching it utterly dreadful. Perhaps you are just irritating you skin with all the washing. Fingers crossed for your liver tests being ok - let us know.

frazzledoldbag · 09/02/2009 22:23

fi do ankle circles (rotate your ankles) - it helps.
Duh, I'm sure you've already been told to do it, but I'm feeling bossy so there you go!

detsy · 09/02/2009 22:31

Ok pics uploaded - a newish one of Lotti and a very new one of our baby boy...!!!

Polony · 09/02/2009 22:33

frazzled I go every fortnight for help with muscular dystrophy (its a very rare type, affects my legs mainly, long story, but I find the acupuncture very helpful and want to remain mobile throughout pg so thats why I go).

The chap I go to has said that you do need to be careful with it in pg - there are points which are a definite no go, and also that you have shorter and lighter treatments so that it doesn't drain you too much. So I'd say go as long as you have confidence in your practitioner, but thats probably how you'd do it pg or not.

The baby goes nuts when I have my treatments.

I agree with Jennster about needing fats. Just some are more helpful than others.

frazzledoldbag · 09/02/2009 22:35

OH MY GOD - how gorgeous is Lotti!
And your little baby boy is utterly gorgeous too. You obviously do a good line in good looking children!
That is an incredibly clear image isn't it? Completely amazing. Are you getting your head around your 'blue one' yet?

frazzledoldbag · 09/02/2009 22:38

polony thank you for the info. Am glad you find the acupuncture helps with your muscular dystrophy. I think I'll do some local research and see if I can find someone good in the area to go and see.
I also agree with jennster about fats, but I guess they should be 'good' fats as opposed to Cadbury cream egg fats!
Am cold and tired now so will head to bed I think.

Night ladies , thanks for all your support x

detsy · 09/02/2009 22:43

Aw thanks Frazz - getting used to the blue theme a bit more now but think it will take a few days to sink in properly! Weird as we always thought that Lotti was going to be a boy and she was a surprise girl.

Heading off to bed soon myself - night night all x

SpangleMaker · 09/02/2009 22:51

Quick post as am off to bed. Just wanted to say detsy glad you're back, I was wondering where you'd got to! Congrats on the scan & your blue bean... what an amazing photo. Am very Lovely pic of Lottie too.

Fi chocolatebunnies Frazzled sorry to hear you're having horrible and/or worrying symptoms. Frazzled the whole itching thing sounds truly horrendous.

Been having some big fanjo kicks this evening. Glad he's getting some big strong bones but wish I could get him to kick somewhere else!

pulapula · 09/02/2009 23:00

Off to bed soon too.

Detsy- Lottie is gorgeous (I think she takes after her mum ) and your little man is so sweet it makes me want a 4d scan even more so i can see mine.

But i have officially spent my £190 grant on ebay purchases for the DCs and 2 changing bags (3 officially but think i will try and sell one of them back on ebay!) so this would involve £150 of our own money- not such a nice prospect and maybe we should just wait...

LoobyLou36 · 10/02/2009 07:32

morning ladies

detsy lovely pic of the blue one and your lovely lottie

Well I'm off to the hospital in a bit for my scan/midwife/consultant appointment. Time for them to take more blood I hate needles!

But at least I get to see LO again. Dh not coming with me as too busy at work - he's made me promise to ring him afterwards. He keeps saying "you will tell me if you see a willy won't you?" he's convinced its a boy (I think its a girl but want a surprise)

Belgianchocolates · 10/02/2009 08:24

morning everyone. Just had the strangest dream: I went for a scan at 38 weeks and the baby was 14lbs! I begged them to let me have a C/S (something that normally scares me to bits) and they said no, we want you to go into labour naturally. So then I got even more worried, because I could still have a good few weeks of growing to do. Pregnancy dreams can be so weird.

Fi, Frazzled and Chocolatebunnies. How's your swelling/itching/PGD? Hope it's a bit better today.

detsy · 10/02/2009 12:36

Thank you all for your lovely kind comments

I'm "working from home" today but am shattered so not getting much done at all and think it may well be snooze time...

My 4d scan was only £95 which is the entry level so just photos but seeing as Pip had his hands over his face and was asleep and refusing to budge she gave us the dvd as well for free. She was a lovely lady and so so patient - had me in there 4 times to see if she could catch him when he moved! They're called Premier Baby if anyone is interested - think they are nationwide and are the cheapest I could find.

Hope the itching and rashes are calming down for all!

Spangle should we meet up for another coffee and compare bumps?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 10/02/2009 12:38

Frazz

Ooooooooh re the itching - that sounds awful, I'll stick with SPD thank you very much.

I hope you are ok, I'm replying a day on after recovering from my pathetic tantrum about shopping and whatnot.

DD2 gave me a Valentine Card when I dropped her at Nursery today that was covered in sparkly hearts she'd glued and glittered and obviously had a lot of fun with. I immediately phoned DH and shuted "NYAH NYAH NYAH NYAH NYAH" down the phone at him as she said it was for me, not Daddy.

I am taking DD1 to get a Valentine present for gasp a boy tonight. My baby is too young at nearly 11 to think about Valentine's for boys.

Oh and DD2's teacher at school told me they were doing rhymings and they were doing 'cat', to which DD2 piped up with 'fat, like my mummy and her big, fat tummy'.

Oh and for anyone who's curious, I've posted photos of my precious babies on my profile.

detsy · 10/02/2009 12:39

Looby hope your appt goes well - let us know too if you see any "bits"

Belgian a 14lber - OMG, think that is more of a nightmare not a dream!!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 10/02/2009 12:50

Detsy

Awwwwwwwwww the cutest kids ever (and you have the loveliest hair colour ). God, I wish we could have a 3d/4d scan (can't remember which they are - durr!).

Fi

T'was the Edinburgh Residence we stayed in, we had a suite which was deliciously comfortable. DH asked me last night if I wanted to go again for a couple of nights next week, as it's our anniversary and my birthday coming up soon.

Frazz

You're very brave to have acupuncture, I would be crying in a corner because I am a total wuss.

LoobyLou36 · 10/02/2009 13:01

No "bits" to be seen.

He/she had legs crossed.Measuring okay for size - apparently weighs 2lb 14ounces now.

alapala · 10/02/2009 13:19

detsy a boy! and he looks just like your DD. I have warmed considerably to the idea of a second DS, little boys are so sweet, especially when he points at a pic of Angelina and says Mummy!!

Names shaping up. My list today (getting weirder by the day) goes, in no order: Theo, Gabriel (obsession), Jules, Xavier.

Detsy I am in Madrid, correct, in the middle-ish. See you when you next visit!?

detsy · 10/02/2009 13:38

Current names shortlist for boys is
Archie
Alfie
Oscar
Henry
Tolly (pinched off Spangle, oops )
Max
Harrison

Angelina look alikely is very impressive indeed!

FiKelly · 10/02/2009 13:43

detsy love your new photos! lottie & your new blue pip look delightful

Belgianchocolates my swollen ankles were improved this morning... going to make a concerted effort to sit down a bit more than i have been lately... took DS to playgroup this morning and he's had a manic time so hoping for not too hectic an afternoon. Was going to hoover but that can wait a few days and your dream makes me wince at the thought of a 14lber

grumpy lol at the picture of how you feel at the moment! Your girls are really cute I've not been in the residence but it's great location to be able to head into town on foot. A suite must have been utter heaven

alapala · 10/02/2009 14:37

detsy - you might find shouting lotti and tolly a bit of a tongue twister!
and no, i dont really look like Angelina (apart from brown hair!).

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 10/02/2009 14:39

Possible TMI alert but does anyone else get kicks that feel like they're in the bumular region?

Father than fanjo kicks, I get ass kicks, like right on my you know what (makes nonchalant face and whistles). Very uncomfortable sensation.

Also, anyone else suffering lots of nosebleeds?

I have been told I look like I'm glowing at the moment, told I'm looking blissful, all the good things. Yay!!!!!!

Momino · 10/02/2009 15:11

hi all.
Detsy, your dd is gorgeous! and I'm so amazed at the 4d photos, they're brilliant.

re: cholestasis, with DD1 went to hosp at 37 weeks with pains in the liver area. got bloods tested which indicated possible cholestasis so was urged to have induction as it's a very risky condition for baby. So was induced and levels went down for liver after baby was born but it was never confirmed that I had cholestasis or it could have been a virus (which can produce similar enzyme levels in blood tests). btw, had no itching so I'm skeptical it was chol. baby was fine though!

girls and i made choc fairy cakes today and I've just had TWO (quietly) and am contemplating 3rd.
