Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had the fear of twins when we were trying for DC3 (and DC1 and DC2 for that matter), but really multiple pg are quite rare. Only one set of twins on my side of the family (cousins) although my SIL is a twin and her twin sister had twins so guess she might have more chance than average (although they say twins often skip a generation).

I only know of one set of triplets, who were IVF, and the parents were even advised to terminate the "twins" and leave the single baby because triplet pg were complex and there was a risk they could lose the babies anyway. What a horrible decision to face, but all turned out well in the end.

I don't have a monoboob problem (I'm enjoying having a cleavage rather than a gaping hole) but might see if my DH wants to treat me to a hot milk bra for valentines. Might go and have a search and drop some hints!

frazzledoldbag · 09/02/2009 15:08

mrsexton - i've started feeling occasionally nauseous too in the last couple of weeks. Suspect its just hormonal surges. Or possibly the baby squishing your stomach. But not very nice

FiKelly · 09/02/2009 15:11

blooming marvellous have some hotmilk stuff and you get the mn discount too www.bloomingmarvellous.co.uk/product.aspx?CategoryID=bf-bras&ProductID=12466&language=en-GB

FiKelly · 09/02/2009 15:14

this online company seems to have the biggest selection of their range www.miodestino.co.uk/lingerie/hotmilk

Momino · 09/02/2009 15:26

Mrssexton,
I too have been getting bouts of nausea. Also have a 'yukky' (can't describe it otherwise) taste in my mouth which makes it difficult for me to figure out what I want to eat.

the only thing I really wanted today was chocolate ice cream. I scoffed the rest of the tub whilst DD1 was watching telly so none left . Is that mean? at least she doesn't know so shouldn't be too bothered.

well time to take out the double buggy, dog, and big bump [sucks in sufficient amount of air to heave a big sigh].

FiKelly · 09/02/2009 15:32

MrsExton we've been generally lucky re the sickness thing. My local friend who is due in a few weeks time has vomited through this entire pregnancy thank goodness we've not been as bad as that!

pulapula · 09/02/2009 15:56

I have found i recently have to eat regularly to avoid that queasy feeling. When i am in work i have to have some toast or a bacon buttie around 10am as otherwise i wouldn't make it to lunch. Mmm getting hungry now. I tend to have something with DC at 5pm and my tea at 7.30 too

FiKelly · 09/02/2009 15:57

I have dinner with DH & DS at 5ish and then snacks after ds goes to bed

Belgianchocolates · 09/02/2009 16:10

I've started feeling a bit sicky too. Especially after I've eaten, so I suspect I should eat a bit less. I bet lo is pushing against my stomach and that it's time to switch to regular small meals. See another reason I think this one is bigger, I never had this with ds and dd.

FiKelly · 09/02/2009 16:33

aah i'd forgotten about the little but often meals.. hopefully i'll not be quite at that stage for a little while yet.

FiKelly · 09/02/2009 16:49

off to make dinner for DS... made thick lentil/chicken and veg soup for dh & me... but ds doesn't like soup. i expect i'll be back on later

Polony · 09/02/2009 17:19

For those with particularly generous partners/pockets or who don't mind splurging in spite of being unable to afford it (ahem, [totally innocent emoticon]), check out Agent Provocateur. Its my birthday early June, I'm thinking a strategically placed hint...

I was under the impression Hot Milk were going under...all the websites that stocked it a few weeks back seemed out of stock. Hopefully they're not going anywhere because most maternity/ nursing bras are depressing.

chocolatebunnies · 09/02/2009 17:24

hi ladies,

just a rant for me today, i am feeling very sorry for myself, have been up to the hopsital today, started having contraction pains at 4am and they kept going to til 10am, them my whole back hips pelvis and fanjo felt very heavy and started hurting like hell (had this on Friday but has eased off over the weekend). SO I go to hospital and have beein diagnosed with PGD, very similar to SPD, but involves the whole pelvis and hips rather than just the pubic bone, have been referred to physio and midwife said at the moment its in its mildest form but will only get worse am under strick instruction to rest and to not pick up my DD

Am in so much friggin pain, and feel so sorry for myself, does anyone else have this PGP (pelivc girdle pain)? Id never heard of it until today.

Sorry for going on, but im just so sad now, the midwife just said "its only going to get worse" now I have visions of me spending the next 15 weeks in agony.

Hope everyone else is doing ok, on the upside they put me on a monitor to check bubba and heartrate etc is fine and they measured my bump and im exactly average at the mo so they aren't concerned about bump, thankfully.

Will no doubt be on alot tonight, so if anyone fancies a chat, im going to be here!

chocolatebunnies

No, I didn't know about PGD, but it sounds awful. Does paracetamol help?

I have some sciatica. It comes and goes but thankfully not as unbearable as yours sounds like.

If it's any consolation, it might go away even before the end of pregnancy. Just take each day as it comes.

chocolatebunnies · 09/02/2009 17:45

cote at the mo paracetemol isnt even hitting it
feel so shit, it hurts to sit, stand, lie down!
I was given a massive fact sheet on it and apparently its very similar to SPD.
I hope it does go away, Im hoping that being referred to see physio now may help prevent it gettign worse but I have no idea!
I had to go to the day-assesment unit today at the hospital which is no the same ward as all the mums and newborns, had to walk past all the rooms to get to my area that was right at the end, made it all feel so real, in a few weeks that will be us, with our babies! I had to control myself not running in and peeking at the tiny babies, lucky DP was with me!

divedaisy · 09/02/2009 17:56

Oh chocolatebunnies - I do sympathise with you. The spd I had with first pregnancy affected my whole pelvis too - hips, lower back, legs, sciatic nerve (to my foot) and pubic bone. It is agony, and really paracetamol didn't help. You could ask for co-codamol which contains codeine - my GP prescribes it to me and he has told me it's safe for use. But still may not be enough to ease the pain... - speak to your GP. Don't do any heavy lifting, pushing or pulling. Keep your knees together eg when getting into /out of a car, and use a pillow in bed between your knees. Try to avoid low level seating. Buy slip on shoes. If you can manage the stairs, go up & down one rung at a time - ie bringing both feet onto the step - like a child goes up & down. You may need to use crutches eventually. I found heat helped and would get into the bath - but only do this when you've someone at home to help get you out! You will need a girdle - to support and hold your pelvis together. I needed pillow, heat and girdle and painkillers, and was at the verge of needing crutches when I was hospitalised with 3 weeks to go. I ended up being induced 3 wks early because of the pain and pre-eclampsia. You've every right to feel sorry for yourself and totally miserable. Big hug to you. XX

divedaisy · 09/02/2009 18:06

I had my MW check up today. Weight still the same at 84Kg. Baby lying in an oblique position! The bum is in the low left and head high right - so lying at an angle across me - that;s maybe why I feel so uncomfortable! I've to go to the local hospital clinic on Wed to get anti d jab and the MW told me I may be scanned then too - so I may yet get to know the sex of this one! Hopefully baby bump will shift into correct position before big day. Does it hurt if the baby is turned by the Dr?? Any examination feels really uncomfortable for me - even those with my gentle-handed MW!!

Having to take DS to juJitsu tonight. Need to go to Tescos to get more juicy tarty oranges - can't remember their 'brand' but I couldn't get enough of them last week!

A female DH used to work with had 3 DC when she got pregnant for a 4th time. Aparently she was a bit of a bitch at work... then she found out she was having triplets!! I think it chilled her out more at work! She needed to buy a minibus for her mini football team (plus reserve)!!!

Belgianchocolates · 09/02/2009 19:08

chocolatebunnies I've got PGD too, though I usually refer to it as SPD as no one knows what PGD is. SPD is actually the old term for PGD, as the symphysis pubis is usually not the only part of the body that is affected they've given it a more accurate name. I've had it in all my pregnancies, getting worse with each pregnancy. With this pregnancy I've been waddling since 18 weeks and I was in quite a bit of pain. I had a physio assessment 2 weeks ago and she gave me tubigrip support which goes from underneath my boobs to below my hips. It's quite tight and my colleagues are surprised that I fit in it when I showed it to them before it put it on! I was very dubious that it would help, because I was in pain walking from the moment I got up and waking up from the pain when turning in bed. However it's made such a huge difference that I now only spend half the day waddling I don't need pain relief anymore either. I'm not saying the pain isn't there anymore. I can still feel discomfort, but it's only mild now and only get real pain at the end of a day on my feet, which is to be expected of course. Divedaisy's tips are exactly what I do too. Try and keep your pelvis in line at all times, so move both legs at the same time when getting in/out of the car, when getting out of bed, sit up first and turn yourself around with your feet together, rather than putting one foot on the floor and then the other. Also sleep with a pillow between your knees, that will be more comfortable, do your shopping online and get your dh to do any heavy lifting. Personally I'm getting a cleaner soon, because I find I can't do heavy duty housework anymore as I can't lift buckets, the vacuum,... Have a look at www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk/ more information about PGD and what you can do to help yourself. Hope your physio referal comes through quickly. If it's for a pregnancy related problem, it usually does. All the best. You're not the only one on here with PGD (SPD) so we know how you feel.

I weighed myself today. I've now gained 1kg (about 4lb) in 1 week I think it doesn't help that I can't stop myself from eating, even when I'm not hungry I keep going to the fridge or cupboard for a piece of cheese/handful of nuts or children's cereal (Frosties, mmmm) I'm going to have to get myself under control or I'll get back to gaining 27kg again (which is about 4st).

Belgianchocolates · 09/02/2009 19:12

Oh chocolatebunnies it's strange that yours came on so suddenly though, usually it's something that slowly builds up and gets worse and worse as your pregnancy progresses. I think it's unusual that it suddenly just appeared with you, but I suppose everyone is different and maybe your muscles decided to just give up all of a sudden I forgot to mention to do you pelvic floor excercises too, they help strengthen the muscles that support your abdomen and internal organs and that will put less pressure on your pelvis. Your physio will teach you some other excercises too.

pulapula · 09/02/2009 19:35

Chocolatebunnies- not surprised you are feeling sorry for yourself- it sounds awful. Let's hope they can do something to ease the pain. I am lucky to only get the odd niggling pain when i forget to keep my legs together.

I should also say that your post reminded me that Rubysmom wrote on her facebook page that she had had an eventful night the other night and that this LO seems determined to come early. I asked her to pop back on as I was concerned- don't think we've heard from her for a while. Seems like everything is under control (fingers crossed).

llareggub · 09/02/2009 19:53

I'm another with pain from SPD, although it is nowhere near as bad as it was last time. It is getting more painful though!

chocolatebunnies · 09/02/2009 20:16

Thanks for all your messages, im feeling a little less sorry for myself now, just having fish fingers and chips for tea so that should cheer me up, good old comfort food!
Belgian Im not really sure if it has just come on, I had an issue towards the beginning of my pregnancy where my dd jumped on me and I couldn't move properly for a week, since then I've been very conscious of what I do, not because it hurt as such, I was just very aware of it, then on Thursday my DD was sick at CM's and I had to run and get her and then carry her on a 15min walk back to car, I had pain whilst carrying her then and on Friday I was in pain, but it had eased off on Saturday and Sunday so I don't know whether this is related or not.
They did say it was in its mildest form at the moment.
Divdedaisy My hospital opperate a self-referral scheme here, basically you ring them and they give you an appointment when you can come in as they were getting so many people not turning up for appointments, so I shall be on the phone to them first thing tomorrow.
Luckily I live in a bungalow so I dont have any stairs, well one to get into the house!
I didnt have any of this with first pregnancy, no-one warns you though when you get pregnant do they!
Thanks again for all your support, it really helps

FiKelly · 09/02/2009 20:19

chocolatebunnies That's awful sending you big hugs and keeping everything crossed that your physio appointment does come ASAP. I would be just as miserable if I was in as much pain. Makes my intermittent minor niggly sciatic back pain seem not so bad in comparison.... and with everyone on here that already had SPD/PGD it just shows how much more common it must be than you think.

I'm feeling a quite concerned tonight as my ankles have started to swell up. I got very swollen hands and feet with DS last time and pre-eclampsia was detected at 38.5wks. I had put this down to my major weight gain last time... this time i've put on under a stone so far and now my ankles are starting to swell I'm really hoping that this isn't the start of pre-eclampsia again

FiKelly · 09/02/2009 20:22

chocolatebunnies ah good that you don't have to wait to see the physio

Belgianchocolates · 09/02/2009 20:25

Fi Swelling in hands and feet is quite common in pregnancy and so in itself not a good indicator of pre-eclampsia. Does it go when you put your feet up? If it doesn't than that would be more worrying, but if it does, it's just one of those pregnancy things where fluid just sinks to your feet thanks to gravity and poor circulation. Still if you're really worried, because of your history, it wouldn't hurt of you could get in touch with your mw and see if you can have your blood pressure checked.
