Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

laumiere he is beautiful, well done you!

Hope everyone's OK.

Wheelybug · 24/02/2009 11:45

Beautiful pic Laumiere.

Glad all was a storm in a teacup Missmod - even if an annoying one.

Saw midwife this morning and baby is back to head down although not engaged so feel a bit more relaxed about things. She seemed to down play the risks as well so made me feel much better. BP still teetering on brink but still ok.

So, am back to thinking I might get to due date/ have a chance at labour after all.... just when I'd decided it might be nice to have baby next friday .

One of my friends has gone into early labour yesterday - she's 30 weeks but expecting twins. They're trying to stop it but not having too much effect. So keep your fingers crossed for them all. Funnily enough, we had our dd's a day apart although they were due a few weeks apart.....

Wheelybug · 24/02/2009 11:46

Oh I was also going to add - I am now more pregnant than I have ever been before . Dd was born just into 37+4 and I am 37+4 today so I would have had her 1.32 this morning !! Feels like quite an achievement.

HopingCat · 24/02/2009 13:51

Wow, there are babies arriving on the March thread now! Congratulations to the new mums. I definitely don't log on here often enough. Has your LO been named yet fifi or did I miss that post?

I thought I was going into labour at work yesterday, loads of back ache and aches under the bump and BH contractions, but today I'm ok again. I'm 37+5 so I wouldn't have minded at all if baby had appeared. I'm only working tomorrow afternoon, and then 1.5 days next week then I'm finally on Mat leave. It's also my 30th Birthday next Tuesday. Wonder if I'll be updating the list with my new baby or my new age first!

Anyone know if measles is a problem for a newborn? I've read that babies have Mother's immunity for a while so am assuming if baby arrives now it should be ok. It's just that my DH has not had measles, and one of our friends has just come down with it, and we had dinner with them last week.

goldmother2b · 24/02/2009 13:57

Congrats wheely for keeping your little bun safely tucked up in your oven!

Laumiere Gabriel is just scrummy!

I'm 39 weeks today, not feeling too bad as only got up twice last night, and psyching myself up for a sweep at my MW appt this afternoon (if conditions are suitable!). I think I may have even convinced DH to give me a good servicing tonight

So all in all a pretty good day (I have felt really crappy for the last few days, so great to feel positive again!)

CaptainKarvol · 24/02/2009 14:14

HopingCat - re. measles, a newborn should have your immunity for the first 6 months or so if you have had measles or all your jabs, your baby should be protected. If you are not immune, measles can be really serious for a newborn - may be worth having a word with your GP if you are at all unsure?

fififlores · 24/02/2009 14:17

DD has a name at last, Lola. Apparently the shoulder thing really is common and not serious, having talked to various people whove babies have had it. feeding is going better (hope iñm not jinxing things by saying this).

best of luck everyone else - as a second timer, it´s all so different - less scary, plus you know everything you have to look forward to - though a lot of my concerns with ds were alleviated by coming on here.

lollipopz · 24/02/2009 14:37

Hi all Fifi that is a beautiful name, hope her shoulder is better soon.

Well done every one for still hanging in there!
Pram arrived today thats me got every thing and still 4 weeks to go! Not bad for me!

Know this is a bit late but have uploaded some pcs if the bump at 36 weeks, mainly because I am convinced it cannot get ay bigger so will compare in a fortnight or so

Take care L x

Boobz · 24/02/2009 16:12

Fab name Fifi - and gorgeous picture of Gabriel - he's lovely.

Have been homebirth kit shopping today! Got all the odds and sods I might need (waterproof sheets, sieve, bin liners, hand mirror, cotton wool, champange etc). Thought it would be more fun to be honest, but wandering around Sainsbury's wasn't as exciting as I'd hoped. Still need to get some of those waterproof mattress protectors in case my waters go in bed but they didn't have them where I was... a special trip to Boots me thinks.

Now all I need to do is make up some scrummy food for the freezer and get my bits waxed and I am ready at 37 weeks! What am I going to do for the next 5?!

laweaselmys · 24/02/2009 16:35

I wanted Lola for a girl, but DP wouldn't have it. Meanie. Great choice fifi!

The babies hospital bag is now packed, as is my labour bag bar toiletries.

House is still a mess, but ho hum!

goldmother2b · 24/02/2009 17:02

My trip to the MW this afternoon was a bit of a downer - she wouldn't entertain the idea of a sweep, even though my consultant had told me to ask for one. Baby isn't engaged either, and she said 'ooh its going to be a big one' after having a feel. How to make a girl feel good......

Had a chat about the induction process too, covered worst case scenarios (i.e. me not responding to the gel) which again has left me feeling a bit down about things.

Anyway, sorry about the whinge - hope everyone else is having a good tuesday x

jollyjoanne · 24/02/2009 19:40

Also saw the midwife this afternoon, although nothing at all has changed since my last appointment, I think this means it is all going OK. Baby is still engaged, lying head down, longitudal with her back to my right side. She's measuring 37cm (at 38+2), her heartbeat is fine and my blood pressure etc was OK. So I think this is just it now, wait it out and see what happens. I have made my next appointment for 2 days after my due date, so now fingers crossed the baby is here before then.

fifi glad things have improved feeding wise and love the name choice.

I can't believe how long some of you are managing to carry on working for so long, I have been off since the start of Feb and don't think I could have managed to carry on any longer. Travelling was uncomfy, sitting for too long is uncomfy, and generally I have felt enormous for the last 3 weeks.

Missmodular · 24/02/2009 20:26

Wow laumiere, Gabriel just looks gorgeous, and such a lot of hair! I can't quite believe that the squirmy thing inside me is a fully formed baby like that

Wheely when you say your bp is on the brink, what is it, if you don't mind me asking? My bottom number was 85 which my community midwife thought was worrying but it went down to 75 when I went into the labour ward last night, which the clinical midwife thought was fine.

Boobz - what is the sieve for? Dare I ask??

Goldmother if it's any consolation, my experience of induction is that it brings on contractions far too quickly and just makes the whole process even more painful! I would have preferred to have started proceedings naturally last time - although I completely understand why you want to get on with it though!

Wheelybug · 24/02/2009 20:30

Missmod - it does depend on your normal blood pressure but basically it causes concern in pregnancy when the bottom number goes over 90. Mine appears to have been creeping up and often gives a first reading around 90 but as long as it goes down to 85 ish they don't seem too worried.

I was in the DAU the other week (where bizarrely my BP comes right down to over 70 or so which is quite unheard of for me) and someone was talking about having been in the day before with a bottom figure of 100.

So, sounds like they were being extra cautious unless your booking in appointment was low - mine, incidentally was something over 97 as the GP wound me up something cronic so I was majorly stressed !

MKG · 24/02/2009 21:27

Goldmother--don't worry to much if you're induced. I had a great induction and the level of pain was no different to my natural labor with ds2. But I think I'm just meant to be a fast and furious laborer anyway.

Well I thought today was going to be my day. I had terrible pains in my tummy this morning and I really did think that it was it. Turns out I most likely didn't eat enough before taking my vitamin and EPO and that upset my tummy.

I'm so tired today. I just feel drained and I didn't even do anything really.

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 24/02/2009 21:37

missmod - I should also add that they will look at urine tests (and if necessary blood tests). High BP in pregnancy can mean just that and NOT pre-eclampsia. To be pre-eclampsia you need to have protein in the urine. I would have been sent home with a reading of ?/92 as I had no protein although would have had to have gone back the next day (but it went down).

twocutedarlings · 24/02/2009 22:03

Goldmother Try not to be to disheartened , the thing is they cant actually do a sweep if the head is not engaged, so it really would have been a waste of time her poking around up there. Are you confident that she is right about baby not yet being engaged? are you still feeling kick really high up under you ribs?. Also Have you got a gym/birth ball? i swear that this little fella wasnt engaged until i started bouncing around on that.

Well my MW did actually do a sweep this morning, she said that things are prepairing for labour and i am 2cm, although with a 3rd baby this is to be expected. Ive not had any signs that it's set thing off and tbh i dont think anythings going to happen just yet, but we shall see .

lolianja · 25/02/2009 03:32

MKG - I feel your pain. A day or so ago I started getting frequent, blurry/irregular but nevertheless tangible period-type pains, the runs and generally feeling off. Saw the midwife today and am still only 3cm dilated (have been for days) and definitely not in labour, it seems. Still, hardly cause for alarm given that I'm still only 39+2. Throughout my pregnancy I thought I'd go overdue, then when the head engaged a few weeks ago and I lost my plug in the first week of February I assumed I wouldn't make it through this month. Then it appeared she was clinging on and I suspected once again I'd go overdue. Then yesterday I got all groggy ... so now I have no idea. It's anyone's guess!

I'm starting to get this peculiar guilt at the prospect of expelling my baby from my nice safe uterus and subjecting her to a cold, nasty world. It's a really bizarre sensation and not something I'd anticipated.

meep · 25/02/2009 06:21

laumiere what a cutie Gabriel is - and what a lots of hair. I am always fascinated by babies with hair! DD had hardly any and stillonly has about 2 inches of hair on teh top of her wee head - if I didn't put something girly on her every day you'd think she was a boy!

love your dd's name fifi

Nothing to reprt on the baby front here. It's wriggly and wakes me up far too early! My belly got really tight last night - but I was working late and pretty stressed so I think that was the problem.

MW today to see how my iron levels are getting on. I was saying to a colleague that if you were a non-pregnant person with anaemia you would more than likely be signed off work - but pregnant ladies with anaemia just keep on going !

Boobz · 25/02/2009 07:32

Missmod -- I'm having a home water birth, so the sieve is to, ahem, catch floating objects I might expel before the baby comes, ahem.

titmouse · 25/02/2009 09:39

morning ladies,

arrgh another restless, sleepless night!! about 7 wees which is a record for me - wondering if I have a UTI, because I have a lot of heavy feeling very low down in my pelvis. Or is that what it feels like when the head gets lower?

fifi Lola is a lovely name,it was on my list!! I hope you're boh doing well xx

meep · 25/02/2009 09:50

Boobz - my friend had a water birth and had had a curry the night before - she said the sieve was used a lot!!!

titmouse I've been awake sine 5.30am. I go into a deep deep sleep then wake up with a start and that is me for the day. 'tis rubbish!

twocutedarlings · 25/02/2009 10:06

So fed up!! tis my due date , i really thought things would happen last night!! dont know why?? as i hadnt had any signs or anything, i just when to bed feeling sort of excited and expecting something (bloody stupid of me, i know ) then woke up the morning feeling so disappointed!! TMI major shits a couple of hours ago but nothing since not even a BH!!

Oh well!! hope you girls are having a better morning .

babyinbelly · 25/02/2009 10:24

Update on the iron levels for those who are interested. Bloods taken thursday last week show they were at 10.6 Which is in normal range. I got the feeling that they would have preferred it to be more like 11 or 12 for labour but it is good enough for me. That therefore means NO MORE appointments unless I get to 41weeks. A scary prospect that I am on my own now!

Got my nursing bras this morning but back band doesn't even meet let alone do up! I measured rib cage under boobs and have gone from 34inches pre pregnancy to 37 inches. What I don't know is whether to get a bigger size now or keep these ones and hope i shrink after birth. Any suggestions?
