Here we go again....

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LuLuBai · 28/01/2009 09:23

Oh Springy.

But as Boffin says you are going to have to endure a lot worse in a couple of months time. Giving birth is very undignified indeed.

BoffinMum · 28/01/2009 09:26

There was a funny post on another thread about a woman who dashed home for a quick nether region spruce up before a smear test, and managed to wipe herself with a flannel her DD was storing her spare glitter in. The doctor got a very pleasant surprise ...

SpringySunshine · 28/01/2009 09:35

Haha, glitter fanjo! Nice touch

I just literally screamed in pain putting my knickers on. I'm irrationally angry with DP for not being here to help. He was very lovely to me, but now he'd off on his merry way to do things that he loves with people he likes & he doesn't have to be pregnant whilst doing any of it. He doesn't even have to think about pregnancy.

Twat.

BoffinMum · 28/01/2009 09:39

Hopefully the doctor will sort you out, Springy.

conkertree · 28/01/2009 09:41

ooh Babybolat and lulubai - snap - we had Pachabels canon too - was lovely. And then had one of the trumpety bits from the film The Slipper and the Rose (as I am a big fan) to go out to.

lulu - lol ds has an ability to turn the screen round, lose the toolbars etc etc - things that my fairly up to date dh cant always work out immediately how to sort out.

how are you doing springy?

ooh Boffin - what a lovely idea from your dh - sounds fantastic.

and i like the glitter idea - have stuff for my shoulders so why not elsewhere since they will feature more prominently in weeks to come.

conkertree · 28/01/2009 09:43

sorry springy - missed your last post there. not great i see. hope the gp can give you something - and on the piles thing - i had them after ds and they seemed to be getting worse recently, then the last few days they (touch wood) dont seem to be around at all - may be lurking but i intend to keep the weetabix intake and water intake up and hopefully they will stay away.

BoffinMum · 28/01/2009 09:44

Conker, how about a nice tartan ladygarden tattoo????

PuzzleRocks · 28/01/2009 09:49

Lulu - If you go, do it on a week day as otherwise you feel obliged to drive round a lot quicker if there are lots of cars behind you. DD loved the monkeys.

Spring - Good luck for later.

Right, I'm back.

Saw the GP who had the results from the microbiology lab from my sample last week - I was on the right antibiotics (which explains why things got better for a while), so she's given me a 7 day course instead of another 5 day one & told me to phone back on Friday to check that it's still the right treatment & not a completely new infection. But the cow did make me get up on the couch just so she could poke at my tummy, despite me obviously being barely able to walk. She had no interest in the piles issue & said 'make your bowel movements more sloppy' (yes, that's obviously the medical term ) & buy some Anusol. I had to ask for her to add it to the prescription because she certainly wasn't forthcoming with the offer & in fact just wrote the name of it on the slip of paper on the back of the prescription so I'd remember what to ask for. So now I have a lovely little prescription bag with a blank piece of paper saying 'Anusol' stapled to it

She also gave me one of the special red-topped bottles to fill to send off, which I did at the surgery so I don't have to go back again (the woman's mad - I really could barely move & she expected me to go all the way home, which isn't that far but still, & back again before 11.30 just to wee in a bottle )

I also bought a microwavable wheat 'hot water bottle' & some paracetamol at the chemist because I was distinctly lacking in both. Then I was limping home whilst trying to take my paracetamol & antibiotic on the way. I decided to leave the Anusol until later though (that's my next exciting task).

So yes, I'm still in a lot of pain & the infection is actually worse (I have 2 + signs next to leucozytes in my notes now, not just 1, as well as the 2 + signs with the protein - plus stuff about E. coli, which sounds reassuring ), but I'm feeling a lot more positive. I have paracetamol & back warmth for the short-term & a new load of antibiotics. Now I'm just praying that the Ikea delivery men don't come whilst DP's out, because I really can't be bothered with dealing with it all / getting dressed again.

So, what has everyone else been doing with themselves this morning?

SpringySunshine · 28/01/2009 10:45

Nutty, about the smear test, I know that other people will be able to give you a more definitive answer, but when I went to the hospital about my post-coital bleeding that's what they did with me & I was there in the midwifery triage unit with a very pregnancy-related issue, so I can't imagine that it's a problem.

Oh, I'm not even that dressed anymore. I'm in my bra & a towel around my waist. It's quite warm in the flat & I would be sweltering with the not-water bottle as well (but it's so nice & I can't give it up, so near nakedness it shall be). The Ikea men will just have to deal with it

From Ikea we got a table & chairs, a wardrobe, a tall bedside cabinet thing & a chest of drawers for the nursery. The delivery men are going to love carrying all that up 2 flights of stairs

I don't think anyone wants to see a very pregnant, limping, wincing nearly-naked lady with Anusol on her bum

Actually, there's probably a niche for it somewhere, but the chances of my current state appealing to anyone who happens to knock at my door are rather slim.

& the nursery is still a complete state. The desk's still in there, as is a mountainous pile of cardboard & a couple of small boxes of stuff that's still not unpacked from the move Plus the total lack of decoration. But in terms of what's actually been bought, we're pretty much there

What are you having delivered?

We should set up our own porn ring. Excuse the pun

Ikea men just phoned & will be here in 15 minutesish. Must get dressed

Bleuravin · 28/01/2009 11:28

Right only here quickly to say hi as I have a million things to do and the connection is not great on this computer...
Took paracetamol this morning to help with the sciatica, making it bareable. Now I'm trying to get things done that I didn't manage to do the last two days.
Catch up with you all later -and to help kill the thread by the weekend

boo to the delivery men (although will be nice to have lots of shiny new things to look at). dh phoned me yesterday to say the man to fix the roof was coming round at any minute - I was dressed but the house was a state cause Tuesday is my main cleaning day.

Clean clothes all over the bed in our room which is where you access the roof from, so T-shirts were hastily thrown over the pants (which yes were clean but still) as I showed him into the room.

BabyBolat · 28/01/2009 11:46

Wow, page 4 already! You might be ok on the three days nutty - we need to do 12-14 pages a day to meet the goal!!!

I am feeling awful today - slept really really deeply last night and slept through my alarm this morning - so rather than waking up at 6am to leave at 6.30 I woke up at 8! Cue manic rushing around, no breakfast and shouting at people to learn to drive all the way to London!! Didn't get to work until almost 11 and still have this retched headache! and general blurgh feeling!

Boffin, I have really swollen ankles (cankles) and feet - have done for about a week - the doctor yesterday said you guessed it 'check with your midwife!'

Springy so sorry you are feeling poo - have the painkillers kicked in at all yet? Boffin, forgot to say cold water really helps me! DH gets me a bowl of it in the evening ready for when I am home to sit with my feet in for 20 minutes!

Bess your DH - I am tempted to let mine read the past thread or two what with babymoons and holidays to give him some ideas!

Re clothing, for the past 4 days I have pretty much worn a summer dress and pants, am now in jeans, jumper and (shock horror) bra and I am over-heating and so ridiculously uncomfortable! I want to be at home wearing no clothes with my windows open! Have just taken my socks and shoes off now hoping that will help!!

Oh I would love a week off pregnancy - just one week!!!

DH was talking about when we have the next one last night and I said to him, we will have the next one when they work out a way for you to become pregnant!

Dh would love to be pg - its the one thing that makes him disappointed to be a man I think (although as usual looking at it with rose tinted spectacles- ignoring the nausea/pain etc etc etc).

My lecture has been brought forward to tomorrow instead of Friday - my boss was quite surprised when I showed him my (fairly basic) power point - dont think he expected me to know how to do it (he doesn't). But apparently its not an examinable part of the course, so I expect most of the students wont even turn up. Oh well - will be good to get my foot in the door and a bit of experience.
