BB - I'm a swindon interloper only here by the strangest of chance happenings, from Kent originally and dp from up North (is there somewhere called Manchester north of Watford ?!)

Wouldn't necessarily recommend Swindon, sorry to anyone that loves the place

BabyBolat · 27/01/2009 22:46

Mumble we had Pachabels Canon in D to walk in to but only because it is one of my favourite pieces of music and I decided that would be my wedding song when I first learnt it at the age of 11! (although after it being ont he sheep advert i almost changed my mind) We also had Bach's Airfor the register bit and Handels Arrival of the Queen of Sheba for the exit at the end - as well as some more modern ones!

As for readings we had ee cummings I carry your heart with me and my granddad spoke for 5 minutes about what he thought love was - was really informal and lovely! I would just go with something you both really like!

Neither would I to be fair - I was only born there because Salisbury hospital was closed for refurbishment so they sent mum there! Have a lot of family from pewsey / marlborough way so Swindon is the nearest 'city'

mumblemumhome4lunch · 27/01/2009 22:57

oooh - we are a few miles south os Swindon just off the Marlborough road. Does that make us neighbours by proxy do you think !!

Unfortunately I had Arrival of the QofS 1st time round - a piece of music I'd always loved and still do but clearly wouldn't be appropriate

Have started trawling through my limited collection of classical CDs for inspiration today so hopefully will come up with something. Pacabel - if it's the one I think it is, that's a good choice, must check that tomorrow

mumblemumhome4lunch · 27/01/2009 22:58

Off to bed now as way past my bedtime

SpringySunshine · 27/01/2009 23:43

Catch up from the previous thread (tut tut, naughty Boffin ):

Right, I'm back (impromptu trip to Ikea & dinner with a friend ). & oh Lord, the catching up to do! It's been a chatty day & I missed it!

Nutty, just reading your post-physio thing - loving the mental image of your MIL getting physically shoved into a room, almost toppling over as she goes. I refuse to believe anything other than that happened Opening your post, too - that's illegal! I mean hardly her greatest crime, but really. Grr

It's good that she was outraged by the situation & is going to try to get things sorted, but I can see that there's not been a great deal of progress made today - that must be frustrating. Only a few more weeks before you can get this baby out of you & start getting fixed instead of just hoping for pain management. & hopefully the pain management will be much improved in that time. Still definitely not great though, so

BB, what a lovely view of society you got in the waiting room! How promising for the future - & our children are going to go to school with this generation of convenience chav babies

Strange comment about possibly being early, though! I wish I was showing symptoms of being early. If only we knew what they were

Hahaha, I love your delusional DH A lovely quiet, tidy house & home cooked meal every night with a baby. Bless him

Auld, sorry to hear that you're worried - I can't add anything to what's already been said, but I really am sure that you're fine (& would also confidently rub some on my knee after a quick look at that research).

frekkles, I knew you were a brunette! Hurrah for virtual cowpat on my back! How are you now?

conker, definitely take Boffin's advice about the chiro. Hell, if Boffin tells you to jump off a cliff I'd really advise that you do it - the woman's never wrong.

SpringySunshine · 27/01/2009 23:48

Thankfully, there's not much to catch up here yet - I was so scared of clicking on the link to the new thread

I love the thread title Not sure that even we can manage a 3 day thread though - not until you're all on maternity leave at least. I hope to be wrong, of course

Ooh, mumblemum, your DS will be 4 on my due date. I'll try my hardest to give him a birthday buddy (although it looks like you may well stand a chance of that yourself!)

SpringySunshine · 28/01/2009 06:06

Now I'm up (& have been for a while) with fucking kidney pain again. So it'll be another trip to the doctor today, 8 days after being prescribed antibiotics for this exact reason. I've been really good about drinking enough, & still... I'm not happy. I can't get comfy in bed, so have had to relocate to the sofa which isn't comfy either, but at least isn't disturbing DP with my tossing & turning (he has no idea I'm having any trouble yet) & I think I might just sit & cry for a bit. This pregnancy thing really is just total shite.

BoffinMum · 28/01/2009 07:08

I agree Springy, it is utterly shite. I have been up since 4.30 with legs swollen like the elephant man and a splitting headache, looking up pre-eclampsia in my Lesley Regan book (which I know I am highly unlikely to have, but I was worried anyway). DH made me tea at 6.30 and announced that he is working from home today to look after me a bit because I was so wobbly and dysfunctional yesterday.

I think he should sodding well take a turn carrying this beast like a penguin father would, and give me a day off. I would go shopping, go to a spa for a bit, wear thin clothes, take a load of anti-inflammatories and run around shouting yippee a lot!!

I wanted to ask how much cranberry juice are you drinking at the moment? I wonder if you could up it a bit and take the edge off the ol' wee pipe problems.

LuLuBai · 28/01/2009 07:18

Oh springy - you OK?

I conked out early last night and wake up to find us 2 pages into the next thread. I took a peek at the March mums - they are still on a thread they started in NOVEMBER!

So Swindon? Luvverly. I went to school near there.

And BabyB - I walked down the aisle to Pachabel's Canon in D too. It's lovely. Misty eyed at the thought. When DH started learning the violin I bought him the sheet music for it, but he's never quite got to that level...

Mumble do practice walking to lots of different pieces of music. Some are surprisingly difficult to walk to and you don't want to look all stilted as you approach your intended down the aisle.

BoffinMum · 28/01/2009 07:19

March mums are wimps.

SpringySunshine · 28/01/2009 07:25

Yay, people are awake!

I detest cranberry juice, but have been drinking it since last week. I also have some sitting next to me right now that I'm drinking between big glugs of water. I've ordered some cranberry tablets to save me the bother of tasting the stuff, but they've not arrived yet. I'm getting through litres of it & I'm still having trouble. I had cystitis once before pregnancy, but this is getting stupid. & it never stings when I wee, so it creeps up on me.

Those lady penguins don't know how good they have it, they really don't. Oh, just imagine. I really do wish these bumps were detachable - they could be zipped on & off at our convenience.

How are your legs & head, Boffin?

& I've noticed that about the March mums, LuLu. No stamina, that's their problem.

LuLuBai · 28/01/2009 07:28

Bravo for penguin fathers. Roll on evolution. In low moments I have snarled at DH that he can get pregnant next time. His stock response is that there won't be a next time cos we are never moving house again.

BoffinMum · 28/01/2009 07:34

Maybe you should have some vodka with it, Springy!

My headache is gone now thanks to the painkillers for my SPD, but everything is still very swollen. I will have to keep tabs on all this.

SpringySunshine · 28/01/2009 07:36

I am out of paracetamol & just checked my ibuprofen out of desperation. It says 'check with your doctor if in the first 6 months of pregnancy, do not use in the last 3 months'. Shit.

How bad do you think it'd be, Boffin? Just as a one off, before the chemist opens for some more paracetamol?

& pfft, Lulu - that's exactly the point. If he knew how awful all this was, the moving house wouldn't be his main concern

LuLuBai · 28/01/2009 07:37

Mumblemum - what are you doing for DS's birthday. I really want to throw a little party for DD, but I'm nervous I might not be able to make it - and my due date is a whole six days after her birthday..... But I have a feeling this bump might not hang about.

Puzzle are you doing anything for your DD's birthday?

I would love to do something which is just about her before all attention is abruptly diverted.

But so many 'ifs' - will the house be completed? Will Baby 2 stay inside long enough?

Oh btw - sorry everyone if I panicked you with my inability to count the number of weeks until due date. I was counting weeks to DD's birthday rather than due date.

Doh! Utter pregheadery.

SpringySunshine · 28/01/2009 07:37

I don't feel so bad mentioning ibuprofen now you've mentioned vodka

LuLuBai · 28/01/2009 07:41

aaargh - dd has d6ne s60eth5ng t6the 2eyb6ard s6 that s60e 3etters c60e 64t as n40bers.

he3*! any 5deas any6ne+

BoffinMum · 28/01/2009 07:43

Mumble - wedding music posibilities for pg people:

Handel's Trumpet voluntary (get trumpeter in for the solo if you have the dosh)

Hymns:
Dear Lord and Father of Mankind
(aka 'Reclothe us in our rightful mind/in purer lives thy service find)
Guide me O Thou Great Redeemer
(aka being ironic 'Pilgrim through this barren land')
Lord of All Hopefulness
(aka need I say more?)

During blessing:
Gaelic Blessing by John Rutter
(aka 'Deep peace of the running waves to you')
Faure's Pie Jesu
(aka 'Dear Jesus')

Going out:
Widor's Toccata (because I like it)

SpringySunshine · 28/01/2009 07:43

Haha! I don't know... Num lock, perhaps?

LuLuBai · 28/01/2009 07:43

ok - found the button which fixed it

phew

BoffinMum · 28/01/2009 07:45

Ironically a shot of vodka is probably better for you at this stage than ibuprofen, Springy.

SpringySunshine · 28/01/2009 07:46

I feared as much What would it do? I will steer clear, but I'm curious...

LuLuBai · 28/01/2009 07:47

Boff have you diagnosed your swollen legs yet? Is it just pregnancy swelling. Some people do swell up masses. One girl I know had to buy new shoes (from Evans) to cope with the swolleness of her legs and feet.

On wedding music, we had Amazing Grace for a hymn. I know we've been hearing a lot of it lately through Obama's inauguration but it is lovely.
