Do you think I have got Ginger's list right, Nutty?

gingersarah · 30/01/2009 18:36

thank you so much for the links, Boffin!

I am in Croydon. The GP seemed quite sure that there was nothing she could do other than fax the form with "urgent" on it and was very sympathetic on a personal level, but it might take ages. I hope they might treat pregnant cases differently.

thanks for the sympathy Boffin & Nutty. I am have nowhere near suffered like you tho! It really helps to talk to people who get it - especially, like you said before Nutty, the mental and emotional aspects of feeling so powerless.

someone else on another thread said that her SPD was gone as soon as she had had the baby and the feeling of walking outdoors with the little one in the pram was incredible. That is what I am going to focus on and will not do anything to risk a slow recovery - anyone who says anything to me that is not helpful does not exist to me from now on, as (in my mind at least) I will just say "fuck off, I am making a baby". This is the new mantra.

Ginger, it's not uncommon to be seen within a week in pg, so I think you could usefully pester the physio clinic politely every day or two with phone calls, saying you are unable to walk or work, have run out of sick leave, have been referred by your GP, and need to see someone immediately, and enquiring how the appointments book is looking.

In the meantime, try the private route if you can. Pelvic Partnership recommend Claire Small: Physio, (West London) 0870 2000 878. Otherwise any chiro used to treating pg women will do.

BoffinMum · 30/01/2009 18:48

You are very sensible getting your feet up though. That is the best thing of all.

Ok, catch up time again.

Job I would most like to do, hmm, anything that made me famous so that I could be a star in a reasonably priced car on Boff and Nutty's Top Gear. I could thrash that little runt Jay Kay.

Ginger - Can I also suggest you apply for Disability Living Allowance (which you'll get if you can only walk a max of 50m slowly and with discomfort) and a Blue Parking Badge asap as well, as these are very useful.

The important thing when applying for DLA, as I told Nutty, is remember all they are interested in is how it affects your everyday life. The criteria are very fixed and it is a tick box process at the other end. (I think I sent Nutty a good link for this on another thread but can't find it again now).

PuzzleRocks · 30/01/2009 19:12

Ginger - Bloody hell, not you too. I hope you get the necessary treatment.

BoffinMum · 30/01/2009 19:15

Also, if you have a look at the Wikipedia entry I wrote, it sums up a lot of information and has links at the bottom which I think will be helpful in formulating arguments and demands!

PuzzleRocks · 30/01/2009 19:38

I seem to have picked up DD's cold. I'm off to bed. Night all.

BoffinMum · 30/01/2009 19:39

On a more cheerful note here is my fave car that I would like to feature on Top Gear with Nutty. It is the only electric car that would do my daily commute (120 miles there and back).

Ginger - have found some definitions for DLA purposes.

No Nutty, you are wrong, it is the only decent electric car in production. We could travel up the A11 with the wind in our hair. Do you think they will do this car on the Motability scheme??

Schulte · 30/01/2009 20:31

Evening all! Just sitting here waiting for lovely curry to arrive (DH is too lazy to cook tonight and there is no way I will!) and have just managed to catch up. Tried earlier this morning but DD kept climbing onto my lap and kissing me on the mouth in an attempt to get my attention, and it worked... her kisses are VERY wet so not actually that nice...

Can you all stop being so organised please? I have done NOTHING for the baby so far and am planning to leave it all until early March when I am on mat leave. It freaks me out how most of you seem to have nurseries ready, beds made up etc! If this little on here arrives early I'll be in trouble!

Now, Schulte's 5 jobs I could never do:

  1. doctor, nurse or carer of any description
  2. cleaner
  3. binman
  4. prostitute
  5. plumber

And my dream jobs... if I had the necessary skills:

  1. writer (a very successful one, it goes without saying)
  2. opera singer
  3. skiing instructor
  4. queen
  5. millionaire's wife (okay not a job but that would be my favourite way of life!)

Right, curry is here, must go and stuff face.

Ooh Nutty I did not realise they had done it on Top Gear! I wish I had seen the review.
