looby, lol, I didn't even wait for your response, hehe [carefully licking icing off fingers].

even better, there is one left for tomorrow as the girls are at nursery and can get their cakes there!

FiKelly · 03/02/2009 22:23

ooo cake just plain vanilla? or... lemon drizzle, chocolate, something else?!

Jennster · 03/02/2009 22:24

Sorry to hear you've not been yourself Louby.

Re Iron: It can actually paradoxically cause diarrhoea or constipation. I get the former (very badly), although the latter is more common. It really does affect 'patient compliance' in a way I didn't really appreciate before

Jennster · 03/02/2009 22:26

Well night night

I'm off to bed

Momino · 03/02/2009 22:28

the fairy cake I had was vanilla with cream cheese icing... mmmm. I don't bake much but just felt like making these on Mon when we had the snow and were stuck inside.

I let dd1 put the hundreds/thou on and she dumped nearly the whole lot on one cake! Needless to say, she claimed that cake straight away.

the girls' nursery does have a good cook who makes them custard/banana cake and other puddings (luckily not too often or they'd start demanding I make the same!). Makes me a bit jealous when I drop them off in the morning and smell the lovely food cooking.

but, I'm happy with my fairy cake .

llareggub · 03/02/2009 22:29

Evening all!

Looby so sorry to hear about Maisie. You are having a tough time of it, aren't you?

I'm off for a growth scan tomorrow and an appointment with the consultant. I've got this weird rash on my hands and wrists and I'm going to ask her about it. It is quite itchy and I don't know if it is because I wash my hands so much to test my blood sugar or whether it is some sort of reaction to the insulin. It will be nice to see baby again!

I'm glad someone posted earlier about the £190. I must remember to ask for the form, although the hospital midwife didn't have a MATB1 cert to give me so I'm not too hopeful she'll have a form for me. I keep dreaming that I'll spend the money on some nice new clothes for me when I've had the baby, but I know the reality will be different.

Momino · 03/02/2009 22:29

Jennster, what's a french fancy?

Jennster · 03/02/2009 22:31

They are little square cakes with a blob of butter cream on the top enveloped in fondant icing. Mr Kipling do them and they are gorgeous.

FiKelly · 03/02/2009 22:31

We only had just over an inch of snow so did what we could! Had forgotten what hard work they are esp when you have an enthusiastic little 'helper'

Jennster · 03/02/2009 22:32

Momino · 03/02/2009 22:36

mmmm, thanks for that, Jennster.

flippineck · 03/02/2009 22:37

Hello everyone, just trying to catch up. In-laws have been here for a week so haven't been able to get on here as much as usual. They've gone now, which I'm fairly glad about, although MIL did clear a large part of my ironing pile for me!

Looby - I'm so sorry to hear about your cat, but glad you were able to bury her under the tree today.

I fell over on the ice today on my way to work. Nothing damaged (I think!), just a slightly bruised bottom and jarred back. LO seems to be ok, plenty of movement this evening. Should I be more worried?

Re cloth nappies - we use two parters here too, we've got mostly the old style Modern Baby nappies (sizes 1 and 2) and Little Kiwis at night, but a few others as well, and we use MotherEase wraps during the day and wool covers at night. The paper liners are great now, but tbh they weren't always a huge help with the very explosive breastfed poo - although that kind of poo isn't terrible anyway, iykwim.

I feel like I haven't stopped eating today - anyone else have days like that?

FiKelly · 03/02/2009 22:38

ooo just noticed the pics of their vienese whirls... they're great too!

flippineck · 03/02/2009 22:40

And stop talking about cake please! I'm all set to go to bed now, but will be dreaming about cakes...maybe DD and I will dosome baking tomorrow to avoid going out in the ice.

Momino · 03/02/2009 22:42

flippineck, if you do could you please send me some? I've only one fairy cake left and not sure it's going to last the night.

FiKelly · 03/02/2009 22:42

I'm off to bed... hopefully dh will stop snoring long enough and LO won't start the Olympic gymnastics training at least until I manage to get comfy and fall asleep... night night xoxox

dandy, sorry it's been difficult for you lately. Hope DDs school is open tomorrow and your scan goes well. big hug to you.

I'm going to bed now. not sure if I can sleep but will try.

LoobyLou36 · 04/02/2009 07:27

Morning ladies.

I am feeling a bit better today.

I apologise for the emotional outpourings of yesterday.

My other little cat Molly stayed in all night last night - I think she knew something was wrong. She even curled up in front of the fire to sleep like Maisie used to - bless.

I MUST talk to my boss today about money - things are getting tight!
Please send me some confident vibes - have never felt this emotional/baby brained.

FiKelly · 04/02/2009 08:55

good luck with the wages.. will keep everything crossed for you. just take a deep breath and go for it. at the very worst he'll say he doesn't have it and then i suggest you get some advice from CAB . he might have been waiting for you to ask .. not paying until he really had to. hugs fi xoxox

LoobyLou36 · 04/02/2009 09:15

thanx for the hugs fi

Well I've asked.
He hasn't got it at the moment, he's gone factoring and they won't release the money he says.
He's HOPNG to get me £200 by Friday and pay us all up till the end of December by 15th Feb. He also said that he's hoping to catch up with the wages after that

I broached the question of maternity leave too (put letter on his desk 8 days ago).
He said he thought I was going to come back to work quite soon after the birth and was surprised when I'd put in my letter that I wanted the max time allowed!(he not happy) I put in my letter that I wanted 37 weeks but that this was not completely set in stone. I did point out to him that I could have put 52 weeks, he just said "Well just get back here as soon as you can".

I also mentioned the question of the 2 weeks holiday I wanted to add on either at the front or end - he said "Well that's up to you" (snottily)

He doesn't consider women who have children mentally sound I think. Something to do with work not being the most important thing in their lives!

Momino · 04/02/2009 09:26

looby, he sounds terrible. You're just going to have to stand your ground and if he argues or treats you unfairly, take it higher - like Fi said, to the CAB for advice.

can't believe he hasn't paid you yet and still has the nerbe to grumble about you taking maternity leave. idiot.

i wish circumstances were different and you could afford to walk out on him. what do your colleagues say?

Belgianchocolates · 04/02/2009 09:36

Hi, my dcs are back at school today. DD wasn't too happy about it, she was enjoying her holiday I had some poor woman in ANC yesterday who had to bring her 4 older children. They were running around, bored. Luckily no one complained, I think they mostly felt sorry for her. We had expected a lot more children in the waiting room, but it looks like most people managed to organise something for a couple of hours.

Looby I hope your boss gets the money issue sorted out soon. Do you think he's hiding from staff that the business isn't doing well? You know with the current economic trouble and stuff.
