Thought I'd better start this soon.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pulapula · 29/01/2009 17:50

Emmalina, I wouldn't really call it spare time. I folded DHs stuff whilst the DC fought played nicely and started on the linen cupboard whilst DS napped. He went down very nicely for his nap at 2 which was later than usual as we were out but i had to wake him at 5pm for his tea. I may regret that lovely quiet afternoon at 7 when i want him to go to bed!

1stMrsF · 29/01/2009 18:40

I don't know whether to be impressed or horrified at the linen folding exploits. I think I will avoid watching the videos and hence the guilt.

Pula I like Freddie and I think you shouldn't worry about Rainbow connotations because the childrens' peers will never have heard of it (oh we are old...)

Had another scan today (the perk of carrying two is you get to see them more often). All is well with my girls but I almost fainted whilst lying down during the scan (a very peculiar feeling) because of being on my back. She had to do the scan with me on my side, which luckily worked out fine other than me getting the jelly stuff EVERYWHERE!

My little sis is coming for dinner tonight and I am enjoying the fun of laying the proper table midweek.

FiKelly · 29/01/2009 19:16

evening ds thankfully asleep and dh off doing our weekly food shop so i've got the laptop to myself for a while & welcome back belgian

just seen on the news that the lady in the USA that had octuplets already has 6 chilren! so this brings her total up to 14!!!! oh my I can't even begin to imagine what having so many in the one house must be like

EmmalinaC · 29/01/2009 19:43

Pula I was only joking - I am in awe that you were able to find the time at all with two DCs already. I spend all my 'spare' time either asleep!

Like your names too and agree with MrsF that you needn't worry about the Rainbow thing.

We're still undecided about names but DD is so insistent that her little sister will be called Nemo that I'm starting to seriously consider it. DH is, understandably, not keen.

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 19:50

14 kids! Oh my god. There is no way I could cope with that!

I too have laundry cupboard guilt, however I am not feeling anywhere near guilty enough to actually get up and go and sort it out.....[lying on the sofa watching episode of relocation, relocation whilst waiting for DH to come home from seminar and make me some dinner] - there have to be some perks to working like a crazy woman and being 6 months pregnant and sorting out a fortnights worth of washing isn't it! Oh and by the way I'd SO love Kirstie Allsopp's job. And that Phil Spencer is quite yummy too I must say.

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 19:56

Oh and re: changing bags I used to have an OiOi one (pink and white) which was nice. But then I spotted Petunia Pickle Bottom ones (hard to get in uk but can get in a few places and on ebay). And then I got given a fab leather Jooki one with matching accessories for Christmas (very generous). Just some other options anyway......and a friend has a very nice Cath Kidston one but it's a bit floral.
I have also in the past coveted Mia Bossi ones but some of them are extremely expensive!

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 19:57

dandy you have very good taste in names by the way!

And I do like Freddie and also Will........

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 19:58

oooh look I'm talking to myself again. First sign of madness.

frazzled you are a shopping fiend! have you an expert opinion on these 2 options:
www.cecilyplum.com/en/Leather-babybo-change-bag.html and www.storksak.co.uk/product.php?shopprodid=192. Though think maybe it would be best to just get a saddle bag for the Bee and keep a normal bag for me. Ho hum...

pulapula · 29/01/2009 20:45

Dandy and frazzled, are you going to share your name thoughts so I can steal see what names others are considering

DH was amused that whilst he was sat with his laptop working i was searching the net for designer changing bags! He said it was a very traditional image of him earning the money and me spending it. I said it was using my maternity grant (I will have to stop using that excuse soon once the credit card bill arrives )

Belgianchocolates · 29/01/2009 20:47

Laundry cupboard? What's that? Does a pile in a laundry basket count too? Not that I don't do laundry, actually I think it's about the only sort of housework I ever seem to do. I'm a bit...hmm... particular when it comes to laundry. I love ironed things so I iron nearly everything (I don't do socks or pants, I'm not that bad) and hate it when people iron creases into my things or don't fold it like I like (i.e. not in the middle), so that's one thing I insist on doing myself, no matter what. I'm actually that bad that I get really annoyed and have been known to redo ironing/folding that someone else has done for me, because it wasn't quite right Sad I know. Nowadays I do it while sitting on my birthing ball and it's actually very comfy.

Freddie is quite nice, classic, but not common, IYKWIM. I've been looking everywhere for my old name books, but I can't find them anywhere. My dh and I can't agree on a girl's name, so I need some inspiration. Don't really want to buy one though.

Re changing bags: I kept swapping and changing with my other 2. I find the 2 of the most important features of a good changing bag are that it needs to be attachable to a pram & have a separate 'mum' section for keys, wallet and phone, because nothing is worse than going out with a huge changing bag and another separate handbag too or having to dig amongs nappies/wipes/drinks/... for stuff.

alapala · 29/01/2009 20:56

belgian I think girls names much easier, so obviously got number 2 boy on way! DH and I agreed on: Emily, Charlotte, Leonie and I also liked Camille and Lauren.

I also always said that if we had 2 boys the second would be Gabriel. DH started off v opposed but now claims he is coming round to it, and I feel v guilty. Maybe it is a cunning tactic on his part . Also both like Theo. Pula I really like Freddie, but find the full name a bit too Germanic.

Only 16 weeks left to argue it out. We still don't really agree on DS1's name!

leakyR · 29/01/2009 21:01

alapala - I like your name choices.

This time round dh and have agreed on a girls name Iris Elizabeth, but can't agree on a boys name.

Pula- dh's favourite boys name is Freddie and while I like it a lot it wouldn't be my first choice. Partly because ds1 is George and Fred and George will alway say "Weasley" (Harry Potter books) to me. We also like Archie, Benjamin and Arthur.

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 21:11

alapala - I love the red one, it's pretty scrummy - athough I did burst out laughing at the 'goes well with' suggestion of a white shirt. Am struggling to think of something that doesn't go well with a white shirt!!!!! Not as keen on the other one though.
Dandy do you mean my 'D' option which is also the name of a dishy actor called Scott? I think I may have also suggested a couple of other 'D' options (but not sure what thread you've looked at) - one of my other options is an animal on the magic roundabout! We also really like the 'R" option but it sort of rhymes with our surname which is a bit of a pain.
Watching 'Hustle' before heading up to bed. Wondering what I can eat next......

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 21:13

Oh LeakyR I think Iris Elizabeth is a beautiful name. Really lovely.
Archie has always lurked on my lists too, along with Benjamin. Probably won't use them for my little man but do really like them.

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 21:14

Just had a pear in case you are all wondering....

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 29/01/2009 21:17

Aha Leaky!

I love Iris, but you got in first. Grrr. . Although I am an 'I', so that probably rules that one out. And Alapala - Gabriel for a boy - me likee very much.

Erm - Wilf for a boy, or is that too 'look at how terribly kitsch we are, giving our child an old-skool name'?

DH likes Jacob for a boy, but we hav a 'J' surname so no.

I'd forgotton how torturous (grumpy dithers over spelling and then thinks 'sod it') the name choices could be!!

llareggub · 29/01/2009 21:18

alapala I have the storksak, I love it!

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 21:19

If you like Iris what about Mabel? My DH adores that.

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 21:21

and another pear.......

frazzledoldbag · 29/01/2009 21:29

Just seen 'Orlando' suggested on a baby name thread tonight. It's not my sort of name, but weirdly I am liking it (if that makes sense). Hmmmmm
What do you ladies think? It would go well with my surname.....

alapala · 29/01/2009 21:32

I know a grown up orlando who is a bit of a geek and it jars.. But if you think DS will be dashing and dark and handsome then good one! D'you like Oscar on the O theme?

llareggub is the storksac massive? Dont want anything too big, and cant find one to look at in madrid..

rek21 · 29/01/2009 21:52

Hello,

Grumpy I like Maia a lot but we have two friends with DD's called Maya - one pronounced Myer and the other May-er. It was fine when there was only May-er, I could remember how to say it, but since Myer has come along I'm completely paralysed every time I try to talk to one of them, incapable of remembering who is who!

LeakyR Iris Elizabeth is lovely - both names are on our list, but I think we have decided against Elizabeth as it is my middle name and we have a complicated system of rules about no family names.

We have to have Rebekah as a middle name because DH is completely set on it. I do like it but didn't want it as a first name. Apart from that we are completely flumoxed. Every time I mention a name DH screws up his face, but he has no suggestions. Its driving me bonkers because we had DD's name almost from the start.

Personally I love Clara, but DH won't have it, because our surname is one syllable, begining with K and DH says that it reminds him of Clark Kent. This is what I'm up against.

I feel utterly laundry deficient. Our laundry routine is; take clothes off and drop on floor. When no more clean clothes carry huge pile of dirty clothes downstairs scattering socks and pants. Shove all washing in machine removing some when door doesn't shut. Leave remaining dirty washing on floor by machine. Set off machine and go to work. Next morning remember there are no clean clothes except wet ones in machine. Recycle yesterdays top with clean but too small vest top. Hang wet clothes on airer in kitchen. Next morning remove single items of slightly damp clothing and wear until dry out somewhere around luchtime. For the next week remove clothes from airer one outfit at a time until eventually mum (when babysitting DD) is driven doolaly by process and removes clothes from airer, irons and folds them and leaves them pointedly by bedroom doors. It works for us.
