I'm considering being a very bad girl and eating a very sundae of my own making... vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, caramel sauce, whipped cream and a cherry on top... I could make it a banana split and thus make it a little healthier with the addition of banana

Bleuravin · 20/01/2009 13:38

very large sundae that is

Bleuravin · 20/01/2009 13:57

I used the 'I'm worried' tactic with Dh to get him moving on the letter I've received...
oh that, he said, it's fine... (see me grit my teeth and take a deep breath)
he said he'd call the accountants and see what's happened to the money he's sure he paid... I'll nag him about it later (again) if he does not email about outcomes

Hey everyone, I have just been posting Youtube links on another thread. You might find some of these diverting.

Lol the Mom to William tell is one I've seen before on Tv I think and forgotten
Strangely reassuring that one

BoffinMum · 20/01/2009 14:08

She looks strangely like Sarah Palin, doesn't she?

Bleuravin · 20/01/2009 14:10

Yes Very stereotypically homely but professional woman...

Schulte · 20/01/2009 14:46

Frekkles - sounds like hiccups. Bleu - can I have one of those sundaes too, please? With banana. No cherry on top thanks.

So nobody else has said their brain is going mushy... please tell me it's not just me???

Bleuravin · 20/01/2009 14:49

It's not just you; I'm just pretending to be completely competent

here's your sundae

Schulte · 20/01/2009 14:52

Thanks! Actually was just stuffing my face with cheesecake... is it naughty to have 2 slices?

Bleuravin · 20/01/2009 14:53

One for you and one for the baby...

Schulte · 20/01/2009 14:53

I just know it will make me feel sick but I can't help it...

Ooops sorry double post, don't know how that happened!

Bleuravin · 20/01/2009 15:16

According to my preggy week by week book I'm supposed to 'guard against madness' this week
hahahahahhahhahaha

BoffinMum · 20/01/2009 15:18

Bit late for me then.

Bleuravin · 20/01/2009 15:23

Schulte · 20/01/2009 15:29

Oh look I am mad even when I am not pregnant... now at least I've got an excuse!

DungunGirl · 20/01/2009 15:32

Hi ladies

Just thought I'd share a bit of an eeekkk! Had my 28 week check today and midwife says I am measuring 30 weeks! Oh no...make way for monster baby.

Are there many others measuring big for dates?

Had blood sugar blood test taken so we'll see if my PCOS condition is meaning that my blood sugars are going a bit crazy and turning baby into a toddler ahead of time!

Anyone had experience of being put on insulin in pregnancy?

Midwife said that I should go for a 31 week check and if baby is still growing ahead of dates and blood sugars out then they may put me on insulin for a short term to control baby's growth.

Bleuravin · 20/01/2009 15:40

My mom warned me that the doctors told her she was big every time (5x)and she had normal babies and went back to her normal size every time...

Schulte · 20/01/2009 15:47

Apparently it's quite normal to measure plus minus two weeks... I measured 27 weeks at my 24 week checkup... and a friend was told her bump was far too small, sent to hospital for an emergency scan, and it turned out everything is fine! I reckon they can get it wrong quite a lot, I mean putting a tape measure on your bump, how exact can it be? So don't worry!

Bleuravin · 20/01/2009 16:13

Completely off topic, but I have the run-up to the swearing in of Obama on TV

SpringySunshine · 20/01/2009 16:38

Will catch up in just a sec, but need a ranty ME post in order to garner some sympathy for when I'm done replying to everyone else

I'm having such a bad day. It started okay (despite very, very little sleep) in that I went into uni, handed in my assignment on time & then went for lunch with DP. But then I started being in increasing amounts of discomfort / pain with what turns out to have been Braxton Hicks. I finally had a MW appointment this afternoon anyway (turns out the MW I've been chasing to no avail has moved to Cornwall ) so waited it out. Got in & found that I have a serious kidney infection, which triggered the BH (& explains my terrible back pain & high temp that have developed throughout the day).

Get back from the MW to find that our car's been broken into & the Sat Nav stolen. They've also touched (but not taken, luckily) all of the baby clothes in the boot

There have been good bits of the day - the MW & her assistant (there were two of them & one was 'just' a nurse, I think) were fab - the best experience of the NHS I've had so far. The kind of women that I'd totally want at the birth. She took DP's hands & showed him where the baby's head / back & bum are, & then let us listen to the heartbeat, etc.

It should've been a good day, but a load of awful things have happened at once.

& BH have scared me about real labour now - I was totally calm before

SpringySunshine · 20/01/2009 17:06

Oh Boffin, not a happy start to the day for you You have to keep waking up, though - I was talking about you to DP whilst waiting at the GP for the MW, saying 'Boffin would know how to make me feel better '. We need you!

mathsmummy, why was your DD dressed as a piglet? Sounds gorgeous.

Names - we're still on George, but we're struggling for a middle name. Any suggestions?

Puzzle, what a terrifying dream I had a dream last night that the baby was bulging so far out of me that I could even see the outline of his ear. So I was touching him, & kind of holding him even though he was still in my uterus, but he didn't like it & BIT me. Yes, BIT me & made me bleed. That wasn't a great dream either - but definitely preferable to Alice Cooper in PVC hotpants

Nutty, yet again you begin a story that clearly needs more detail (for example the suspiciously wise 'avoid chocolate body paint' comment ) - what is this knowledge of PVC that you have?

BabyBolat, having now read your apology regarding my influence over the naughty chatter, I'm tempted to delete my question to Nutty. My curiosity is winning over my dignity though, so I shall let it stand My hairiness is definitely present everywhere, but it's the tummy area that's worst - I think that's meant to be the signal for testosterone.

Puzzle, you made me laugh so much with the 'for the love of god stay away from the ankles' comment - it rings so true

Bleuravin, I have that exact issue about money with my DP. I get so angry. & just had a massive stress out because I found out that he leaves our balcony (that sounds grander than it is - it's tiny) doors unlocked as a matter of course. It opens into our main room, with 2 Xboxes, 2 laptops, a huge tv, etc... If we were asleep, there'd be no way that we'd know that someone was in here & it'd be so easy to get in. Our front door is protected to an extent, because there's a main door with an intercom. But seriously, there's just no thought about anything like that & he's the same with actually paying bills on time. I've lost count of the amount of bank charges we've had & with everything that's going on at the moment, we've still not sorted out the joint account that I really want to set up to solve the problem. Must put that as a priority. (Just seen Boffin's guide to managing money & am proud to say that I've got as far as doing everything with the existing paperwork - it's just the actual paying things that's still not sorted )

Nutty, your little party bags sound ace! I wish I'd known someone with a mum like you when I was little!

Welcome to phdlife! I saw your original bellybutton thread, so it's nice to see you here

& I love the commune title

BabyBolat · 20/01/2009 17:22

Hi Girls

To follow on from Springy I am about to have a very me post.

Feel like I am not coping with this very well today - having a real anti pregnancy day - my tummy has felt really tight and achy all day - not sharp pains, just hurting for no real reason -didn't get any sleep last night as was so uncomfortable. Probably a growth spurt as my maternity trousers keep rolling down over my big fat stomach!! I feel huge!!

Also just feel like work is really getting to me and I know it's only one more week of it so things will calm down after this weekend but am just getting more and more frustrated that people just seem to be ignoring the fact that I am pregnant and not able to do the things I used to do! It's probably my fault for not flagging up that I need to slow down a bit but you would think they would notice - I mean really, I worked 80 hours last week and my bosses didn't bat an eyelid when I submitted my timesheets for billing!

I look like crap today, couldn't even muster the energy to wash my hair this morning and just feel like a complete slob!

Nutty, loving the bags, Springy how awful - is there much damage to the car - you tell your DH to get those doors locked he has you and the lO to think of - I am paranoid about it and make DH check twice before we sleep and leave the house!

Can I have one of those Ice creams too - seeing as I am the size of a house anyway, it can't hurt!!!
