I say this one wont last a full 10 days.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Calcarea Phosphorica is recommended, not sure why. I think it's just generally good for lactation.

Bleuravin · 19/01/2009 18:03

I just read something which said it could be thrush..but in my breasts! Oh the joys...

but I don't actually think that it can be it as obviously I'm not feeding a baby yet...

Bleuravin · 19/01/2009 18:07

I've put some damp cloths on them, it makes them feel cooler, but the pain's still there...I wonder if paracetamol would help.

BoffinMum · 19/01/2009 18:11

It would be very odd if it was thrush. I think if they hurt then take some paracetemol. What sort of bra have you had on today?

I have on a loose maternity bra. No underwire or poking or tightness...
I've had moments of sudden pain/burning around the outsides this past couple of days, but today...it's been continuous and has got worse and worse. If it's the same tomorrow I'm going to call mw to see if they have any ideas.

brettgirl2 · 19/01/2009 18:29

Mathsmummy - I've also had problems with Pelvic pain that I was told was 'sciatica'. It may have been but there is no way that it was caused by the baby pressing on the nerve as it first started at 8 weeks.

Don't take the midwife's 'there's nothing they can do' - that's just crap. Mine is thankfully no-where near as bad as Boffin and Nutty's but at my worst I couldn't get out of bed without help! My tips would be:

  1. Try to not stay in bed - go and sit on a chair which keeps your seat bones even and makes you sit up straight
  2. Get a referral for Physio NOW. Even if you have to go private a course of 5 appointments will be about £200 so if you can afford it its well worth it. If you go private then you would be able to get an appointment by Wednesday at the latest. It's helpful just to have someone to talk to and have the 'is exercise good or bad' - 'hot or cold' type conversations because left to own devices you have no idea. Gentle exercise helped with me, because I wasn't that bad but you worry that you will do damage.
  3. One of my triggers is having baths - it must be something to do with the seating position. Shame because having a bath in pg is one of the only pleasures left

Oh my life - thrush in the boobs, whatever are we going to come up with next?

Mine is now quite a lot better thankfully and I keep everything crossed that it continues because I was starting to get so down about it. Last week it started to get worse again, so I dosed myself up on paracetamol and managed to calm it before it flared, which has made me feel better. I'm convinced that MWs actually like watching people suffer!

The last two paragraphs seem to have got mixed up, just to clarify that I have not yet had thrush in my breasts!!!

frostyfrekkles · 19/01/2009 19:06

ladies, slow down! as a current memeber of an all women's housing cooperative, where we all share cooking, housework and responsibilities, I would advise you that the hippy dream is not all it's cracked up to be! especially with all the hormones running about. plenty fireworks. I'd advise some personal space in the communal living experience. Let's all move to the same village or something. but not a commune. before you know it nutty would be moaning about conkertree's leaving her washing over the bath tub to boffin, meaning boffin would be stressed about the conflict and therefore accidentally snap at nutty. .. etc etc And we're all pregnant too, so therefore it'd be chaos!

voice of doom so i am, but this hippy artist chick has seen it from the inside! it's hard!

mathsmummy27 · 19/01/2009 19:15

Got back from pile of sh*t GP. He grudgingly prescribed me ...wait for it... co-codomol. Support belt - he looked at me like I had just said 'banana hammock'. Physio - similar. Should I go to private chiro/physio? 'I wouldn't recommend it'. His parting comment of 'the way to solve this problem is to have a baby in a few weeks' time' takes the prize for both most inane and most innumerate comment of the day.

BoffinMum · 19/01/2009 19:26

Yes but frekkles, this is a fantasy commune so we are always friends and we are buying a £5m country house with nearly aked men to serve us dinner. This is where your co-operative went so very wrong.

Anyway, I did seven years at a girls' boarding school. I have probably seen it all ...

mathsmummy, I will be your outrage buddy too if you like. He is wrong - if you don't get treated the prognosis is a lot worse. Sue the bastard's balls off.

Where do these GPs come from? It just amazes me - luckily at my practice there are a couple who I quite like (strangely it's the youngest two). It's completely unreasonable expecting to be able to stand up when you need to get off the toilet - not when you're pregnant.

mathsmummy27 · 19/01/2009 19:30

ooh yes I am a boarding-school graduate too, and I have definitely seen it all

What next then? I will ring the antenatal dept at hospital in the morning as the midwife reckons they could have a support belt for me. I gues go private - but as we speak, DH is tearing his hear out at a ridiculous tax bill it would be better for us if he went on the dole...

mathsmummy27 · 19/01/2009 19:42

BoffinMum · 19/01/2009 19:43

Nutty does outrage soooo well!!
But he is a tosser. Are you going to write a letter of complaint??

brettgirl2 · 19/01/2009 19:43

All we need is to find someone who likes the toffee pennies

BoffinMum · 19/01/2009 19:44
