Calico - my house back onto Wendover Woods!! We can walk to the cafe - lovely!!!!

How do I book an amenity room? Can I do Monday when I see the consultant?

PinkTulips · 14/01/2009 13:32

sorry lbb, dd dropped her nap (rather i was no longer able to force her to have one) when ds was born too. she was the same age as your ds.

it always made me so and when people would come up to me and say 'oh what a lovely close gap, it must be so nice having them both napping at the same time and getting a bit of a break in the afternoon'.... erm no actually, my days were spent trying to prevent dd from waking ds up!

hope the abs kick in soon

dinkystinky · 14/01/2009 13:36

Pink - sorry about your oil. Hope the men turn up soon.

LBB - maybe he'll have a nap abit later (letting you get a good rest). Fingers crossed for a peaceful and good night's sleep for you tonight.

Calico1 · 14/01/2009 13:55

McDreamy - excellent plan! I'll have the banana cake....

As I remember the private rooms on the ward at SM are usually reserved for any mums who have had a problem during delivery or have a sick baby but if they are empty you can book them. I think there is a daily charge but can't remember what it was. I was tipped off about them by a friend who works at the hospital.

My DH booked one for me when I arrived at the hospital in labour - obviously it depends whether or not they are any available on the day so doubt you can book in advance but we got one and didn't have to pay for it in the end either.

Probably best if you phone up the ward to check in advance what the procedure is as it might have changed since 2007 or pop in when you are there on Monday.

McDreamy · 14/01/2009 13:59

Thanks I will see what I can find out on Monday! I see you are due on the 21st - 2 days after me but as I'm having a section I will be earlier. You never know we migh just be in at the same time!

Are you all ready and prepared? I'm not although getting there.

swampster · 14/01/2009 14:19

McDreamy, if you are having a CS, bear in mind that your feet might be like balloons - or was that just mine? I couldn't wedge mine into my flip flops for days, hence the extra-sized crocs I was gassing about earlier.

Calico1 · 14/01/2009 14:26

Yes - due on the 21st - but might have a planned CS due to back probs but will know after appointment at SM tomorrow.

Not prepared at all....still have tons of work to finish before Feb and nothing sorted for baby yet. He / she have to share a cot with DS at this rate!

McDreamy · 14/01/2009 14:38

I can't remember having that problem with the last 2 cs tbh Swampster but you never know what your body will hit you with this time so worth bearing in mind - reminds me I must hunt out my crocs.

So glad someone else is not organised, was beginiing to feel a bit panicky! Have done some washing, found the moses basket bought some nappies (don't tell Swampster but they're disposable ) and that's about it!

Will look out for your update tomorrow Calico! Last tie I went the consultant told me that as I'm due on the 19th she's be looking to deliver me on the 12th or 13th but I would like it a couple of days earlier if poss as DD's birthday is the 14th and I would like to be home for that.

justme85 · 14/01/2009 14:58

Hi everyone, nice to c a thread for feb babies, thanks mumoverseas for letting me know. Is anybody else due on valentines day? I'm really excited now, just incredibly uncomfortable. Hope everyone is good, i'm going to see Chris Brown in concert tonight in Birmingham, luckily got a floor and isle seat near the front. I'm sure it will take my mind off my discomforts for a few hours. xx

swampster · 14/01/2009 14:59

AKA dispicables to the hard-core fluffy crew! Have you seen your thread here, McD?

swampster · 14/01/2009 15:00

Hello, justme!

McDreamy · 14/01/2009 15:46

Just found it thanks Swampster - ooh I do feel popular

LittleMissNorty · 14/01/2009 16:21

Blimey ladies, taken me ages to catch up and can't remember anything I was going to say!

Been into work today to do an interview at 9.30am and didn't get home until 3.45pm ......while you're here......

So I'm knackered!

Been foggy here ALL day...just hasn't lifted at all.

dinkystinky · 14/01/2009 16:21

Hello and welcome Justme. Hope you have a good time tonight.

Our new windows should now, hopefully, be installed. Now just have to find a bloody handyman who will actually return my calls to instal new blinds and will be sorted(ish)!

littleboyblue · 14/01/2009 16:23

OMG you chatty lot, will catch up in a bit, just need to get this out.
I have Group B Strep

dinkystinky · 14/01/2009 16:25

Does that mean you have to have antibiotics in labour then LBB? Read somewhere on MN about erm topically applied garlic (basically jammed up your bits ) curing group b strep but suspect IV antibiotics may be more palatable....

littleboyblue · 14/01/2009 16:28

Yes dinky, they told me if I think I'm in labour to call an ambulance to get there asap to be put on a drip. My friends baby died from this

LittleMissNorty · 14/01/2009 16:29

Did you choose to be tested LBB or did they test you for that along with everything else?

At least you know before you go into labour.

Think I'd rather do the IV ABs bit as well

littleboyblue · 14/01/2009 16:30

Didn't ask for test so they've done it along with everything else and yes, thank god we've found out.
If the garlic would help, I'll do it

LittleMissNorty · 14/01/2009 16:30

If your waters break, you need to do the same as well I think - contractions or not.

I was given IV ABs prophylactically last time because my waters broke spontaneously

littleboyblue · 14/01/2009 16:31

I'm really upset and scared.

littleboyblue · 14/01/2009 16:32

Yeah that's what they said any signs of labour inc waters breaking, gush or trickle
Paranoid about these cramps now

LittleMissNorty · 14/01/2009 16:32

You're bound to be LBB, but you mustn't panic. You know beforehand and that's the important thing...and you and baby will be fine, because the medical lot know and you will be well looked after.

LittleMissNorty · 14/01/2009 16:33

Well ring your midwife and go to day-care for monitoring if you need to. You really can't be sitting at home worrying. If it has started, you need to know.

littleboyblue · 14/01/2009 16:33

Wish I shared that confidence LMN. You're right though, I just think what else?
