flf I need you round my house to mtivate me to seize the day!

Had to laugh, emailed a manager at work to say not on study day in bed with tens. She said there are several midwives offering to do HUGE stretch and sweeps on me if I'm game. No term though so better not plough in just yet!

Have pulled duvet up another inch. I was going to opt for a section when I was 30 weeks. It would have been today! Dunno how I feel about that.

stripeywoollenhat · 12/01/2009 12:13

flf, it's okay, not clicking on links... i think that i had better do some washing up before i collapse on sofa for day. have cosy red cashmere blanket and tv remote lined up and fully intend to ignore all emotions except those which can be elicited by bad daytime tv. hope you are also taking it easy.

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 12/01/2009 12:23

Oh yes it's ray appt today isn't it, then pamper day. Lucky thing hope it's bliss. Hope clinic not running hopelessly late and she's still there [like at where I used to work]

Have had hour and half sleep since yesterday and can't sleep. Have had runs too

stripeywoollenhat · 12/01/2009 12:59

yes, hope rray's lo is kicking about quite happily and she's now being buffed and stroked and soothed...

tree, also started day with 'loose bowels'. nice. head under duvet for you...

tree, much rather have you mooch around the links with me than go and do proper stuff. its lovely to watch the body do its thing and know that we are amazing. I'm sure watching them has just started off the contractions again! My mum is sure I'm going to have it today as she mistakenly put in her calender, night at FLF's house (even though she hasn't been invited for tonight). God help me if she is right... I'll never hear the end of it!

right. am really off to listen to my birth prep cd now... strides off purposefully...

men always do man looks when they have lost something. then as soon as you look for item you find it straight away.

fourlittlefeet · 12/01/2009 14:47

ok, bored, but productive here (still no biscuits tree as my friend won't be round with butter and nuts until 4.30!)

Anyhoo.. am really worried about vbac stalling and ending up with another c-section so trying to be very prepared in knowing what to do if labour 'stalls' in hospital and they come weilding threats/ventouse/whatever nasties.

As far as I can tell you are most likely to stall at 3,5 and 8 cms. I think its because 3 you go into active labour and your body can still stop it if you aren't happy and relaxed, 5 not sure, and 8 because this is when transition starts and the babies head is shaping.

So, first things first, you can check your own cervix apparently (this does come with caution about clean hands and sharp nails though... here I'm desperate to try this as it may help me know when to go in.

Also, really interesting information about the 8cm thing and when to push here

apologies for being bored and obsessed

Tree I have biscuits - but only the shop bored variety. Actually they were for the midwife but was feeling so fed up I opened them - have ordered more with Tesco shop for tomorrow.

Would you like - milk or plain choc digestives, hobnobs or gingernuts?

DH came home for lunch and got told off - went back to work repeating the phrase "must try harder" over and over. He did acknowledge that he's been a bit crap and only doing the superficial stuff properly, but then ruined his apology by saying, "never mind, you'll be back on top of it all next week!"

Mum has arrived to collect DS2 from school and have the boys for an hour so I can get my head down, but feel like I've gone past sleeping now iykwim. Might have a soak in the bath instead.

elkiedee · 12/01/2009 15:17

grr at mm's dh - not that I've made those kind of preparations but I'd get mad at dp for it. I'm already a bit annoyed with dp over our second bedroom, which urgently needs to be cleared so it can become ds1's bedroom (his little brother will move in too perhaps in the summer). It's currently used to store things most of which are going to have to go into rented storage, and we're going to have to find space somewhere else in the house for the rest. But dp is still putting his random piles of mixed up papers anywhere and everywhere, loose as well to increase the likelihood that things will fall on me when I go in there to look for baby clothes of various sizes or adjust the heating. But your dh sounds even more annoying.

largeginandtonic · 12/01/2009 15:47

Stipey hope you feel ok

Moose the boys drawers end up like that and i always go in guns blazing It is my pet hate, i repeat to them everytime they take their washing up "i have wshed and folded this lot please put it away nicely" Lo and behold it is usually a disater.

Tree the runs!!!! Oooh could be ya know I would have gone in for the sweep at 39 weeks too Your resolve is better than mine.

FLF self examination is damned hard, you may not be able to reach unless your cervix is anterior or at least central. I cannot reach mine atm so am assuming it is posterior

Wonder how Rrray got on. I had forgotten to say to her before when she commented on my size 6. It was not body size > but glove size That is what Tree was saying too, glove size. We have tiny hands.

I have got the caulophyllum and am on my second does, fingers crossed! I also have Krispy Kremes, 24 of them. There are 8 people in the house though... i won't eat them all myself

fourlittlefeet · 12/01/2009 15:56

ooh, I do believe thats the first KK post on this thread. Couldn't believe the may 07 love of them; can't stand them! Very interested in what the caulophyllum does to you . Am considering accupunture, but worried that it may put me in labour before I'm ready and then I'll have a difficult one... too much psychology going on in my head. need to switch off from the whole process.

largeginandtonic · 12/01/2009 16:02

I have just looked up acupuncture online and found a clinic nearby. Will be booking it for after the sweep if nothing happens!

qumps · 12/01/2009 16:19

i love krispy cremes!
still checking on you all and sending good labour vibes.

moosemama · 12/01/2009 17:13

Well, feeling a bit odd. Had a lovely Neals Yard bath soak and then despite not getting to have a nap, seemed to have had a bit of a burst of energy and done some more baby sorting. (including putting the carseat and snuggle together, reorganising chest of drawers and arranging home birth stuff in logical pile!)

Have also had a show, actually (tmi) have been having a show nearly all day but got the real thing just before my bath about an hour ago. (Didn't get one till actually in labour with the other two.)

Have sent Mum home with an overnight bag for the boys and instructions on what she will need in for packed lunches if they have to go to hers in the middle of the night - just in case.

Haven't had many tightenings today, one or two ouchy ones and lots of weird pains around baby's head area, but bump is suddenly huge out in front and low, so am hoping she's finally managed to turn LOA (midwife thought that's what she'd been trying to do for last couple of days).

So am sitting here now drinking raspberry leaf tea and feeling a bit daft, all this organisation and no contractions!

Ah well. Will just have to wait and see what happens next, at least we are a bit more organised now if nothing else.

Thanks gtdahb, not holding my breath, but trying to stay positive. I know some people wait days after a show, so could still be induction on Thursday for me. Was encouraged (if not shocked) by the sudden nesting behaviour though!

Periwink · 12/01/2009 18:10

Hi ladies - only have a few minutes ..... just to share my wonderful news that I delivered a baby girl called Ariella on Saturday evening at 6.49pm - she is too precious - not sure I will share my birth story right now until all of us have delivered. It was a very long labour and she weighed 8 pounds 10 oz (3.92kg) yikers ...

moosemama · 12/01/2009 18:15

Congratulations Periwink! Very though!

Another beautiful name too.

Periwink · 12/01/2009 18:16

Thanks Moose - hang in there! Signing off now - to check on Ariella.
