hello! I have tried to catch up but there is just too much ladies !

wanted to update you - Rosie Anne only had to stay on SCBU for a day before she was breathing fine on her own, and we came home on Friday. The labour was actually wonderful! No homebirth but the hospital were brilliant and the midwives totally supported me having as homebirthy a time as possible. On paper, the whole labour was about 2 hours (in reality was about 5 hours), and the second stage was only 4 mins and 2 pushes. It never got overwhelming, and about 20 mins was really painful but the rest was actually ok! I was amazed that my body just did it without me having to know what to do! yay. and phew.

Breastfeeding is a different story but I'll take that to the postnatal thread! All I will say is that engorgement extending to your armpits (amonst other things!) is not nice.
WIll post a pic of Rosie on my profile soon!
and will check in properly when ds is out with his pa and she is sleeping.
xx

now, dilemma for today.

DD in nursery all day today and tomorrow.

Do I:
a) book and go for a haircut
b) book and have a pedicure
c) bake biscuits and make lemon vodka for guests post baby
d) do feck all and sit on my arse all day
e) get out one of the canvasses I've been saving to paint for days like this and have a go
f) go swimming in the hope that it brings something on

hmmm. tough one. maybe I should roll a dice. Am thinking pedicure may be out if they are going to make me take off the varnish in labour.

OP posts:
tinkhaslessthanaweek · 12/01/2009 09:02

i would go for option d or e

treedelivery · 12/01/2009 09:13

Up till 6 am ish on here and on ball and roaming about house then all quite down so went to bed till 8. Up now and unsettled but dunno if thats tiredness or stuff happening.
bleurgh. That was some back ache.

Am going to doze with hot water bottles and tens. Feel like have a stitch in my back.

Glad you had rest flf.

treedelivery · 12/01/2009 09:15

I'd try for a and b btw. Great to heat from you Spink and lovely Rosie Anne.

fourlittlefeet · 12/01/2009 09:15

thanks tink. i'm thinking since it may involve scrabbling under the bed for materials I'll get DP to get everything ready for tomorrow for c and e (inculding the shopping), and today I'll toddle for a swim and a haircut. that way if bubba does come, at least all the other activities are home based.

good theory. will still be sitting here at 4pm when i have to pick up DD.

Morning

Couldn't make it past 8.00 o'clock last night, but then DH woke me up at 10.30 banging about downstairs. Tried to go back to sleep, but got up at 1.00 and then up till 4.30.

No more tightenings, a few sharp pains and shooters but that's about it. Am becoming resigned to induction on Thursday. Baby does feel a lot lower, like walking with a head between legs, not very comfortable for sitting down either.

Am proper stroppy this morning and got DS1 home from school on the 48hr rule despite him feeling fine and obviously going to be bored all day. I just need to get some sleep now but can't exactly leave him on his own and retreat to bedroom.

Was really rough on DH when he couldn't effectively get just one child ready for school and out the house on time this morning, despite me doing the lunch box, brushing hair and doing hat, coat, scarf, gloves and shoes for him. Had to call him back off the drive 3 times as he forgot everything from homework to DSs glasses! Could tell by his voice and face he was seething with me when he left and poor sod has his appraisal today - think he's cross that I didn't deliver this weekend so he would've been on paternity leave and missed having to do it for a fortnight!

Aaahgh! DS1 is sooo chatty this morning and I am grumpy Mummy from hell. (I really can't get enthusiastic about flippin crazy bones or funkeys at the moment!) Feel really guilty as should be cherishing one to one time with him but can't seem to stop being snappy. Might have to call Mum to have him for a couple of hours so I can have a sleep and then spend some time with him later this afternoon.

fourlittlefeet · 12/01/2009 09:35

just done my profile page. photo v unflattering sadly, but in my defense its recent and shows just how tired I am! hkz, if you recognise us at the MOC or farm or pavillion, come and say hello, I won't be freaked out, I promise! I've met quite a few mumsnetters in this area who are now v good friends so always up for a chat in RL. Just thought.. it would be weird if I already know you!

Hooray Spink!!! I am glad it was ok, i love the name so sweet and pretty

HKZ i bought the Britax one for the last baby as we changed car when he was 4 weeks old and the seatbelts were all short so his super duper Mutsy one would not fit in! I was so annoyed. The Britax was fab though, he is still in it now.

I have bought the Jane Strata this time as it fits in the car with a special short belt system and will fit on the Jane powertwin too as a travel system.

Tree pmsl at Carolie Flint... i was visualising that about a week ago (before i lost the will to live) DH said it to me last night and if looks could have killed...

I am going to buy some Caulophyllum today, i did not take it with Beau as Hugo delievered in 40 minutes and i was afraid to risk it being any faster. I am so fed up this time and Beau's labour was hardly a speedy affair. I may regret it.

moosemama · 12/01/2009 09:36

Oh Spink! Just read your post. Fantastic news about little one's quick recovery. Beautiful name by the way.

oh ho LG&T, back to the old tricks eh? is that the blue or the black cohosh... evil weed... I remember TYG's run in with it in 2007!

OP posts:
treedelivery · 12/01/2009 09:46

So it's a straight split today, one half pretty cool and mellow and making plans for jobs to do, other half growling and glaring. Fully hormone fuelled women!!

G&T am powertrak/powertwin worshipper. dd1 [age 4!] still hopps in hers occasionally and shnuggles into sheepskin and I can still push it with a fingertip. Got a cheap twin off ebay just for the joy of pushing my little women down the street. Oooo come on bubbs!!

Think I am on the brew for a delivery this week, I don't so much want the baby out to meet her, I just want her out of me!

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 12/01/2009 09:47

thats a lovely pic flf
enjoy swim and hair

treedelivery · 12/01/2009 09:51

flf - if thats an unflatter ing pic of you then you're far too pretty. It's a lovely pic. Have a lovely day today

What you up to Tink?

I am trying to visualise myself as a flower bud opening up and it is definitely not happening...I am more liek one of the slightly withering spider plants on our window sill that could do with a god water and a bigger pot.

FLF- Go for B or D! Where can you get a good pedicure round here? All the places near me seem to overwhelm you with toxic fumes the minute you walk in the door. I found a nice place in angel but its a bit on the pricey side to justify..
Like your pic btw, I recognise that horse! Will keep an eye out for you...I will stick some pics up, but in the mean time I think I am probably quite easy to spot...lets face it...we are going to be the two ridiculously pregnant women wherever we go at the mo!

LG&T- Am gonna go for the britax I reckon, seems like its good value and will last for a long time..there's going to be no room in our car for anything other than car seats. What's Caulophyllum? Does it help with labour?

Tree- When do you sleep? You must be knackered...hope you can get some rest, and Moose too!

Right, playgroup has started again today, so DD can actually use up some of her energy whilst I sit in a windy church hall and stare into the distance and ignore her fighting with the other children over the much coveted red car....

hkz · 12/01/2009 10:00

Spink, just saw your post too, glad Rosie is doing well, what a lovely name. Good luck with the b/f.

largeginandtonic · 12/01/2009 10:12

Caulophyllum is a homeopathic remedy. It can have quite startling results and should be used with caution. I gave it to a friend who had an ambulance outside her door within half an hour and had the baby at home. Another had her baby in the car park at hospital.

It is like any induction remedy though, will only work if you are 'ready'. Caulophyllum stays in your sytem though and then can make labour rapid.

I am off to get dh from work, hooray!!!

Come on babies!!!
