Hi all, just wanted to add for MissJackson - DD was born with her cord round her nek. She was distressed during the labour and it was picked up immediately. That said she had a 9/10 APGAR on delivery so was obviously built to deal with it as Tree said. DS was born very peacefully with no trouble in labour and needed a bit of a rub down to get him going. So it seems it doesn't always equate that those that have been distressed in labour are distressed at birth and vice versa.

FYM - Were you or DH close to his grandma? Would it be difficult for you to miss the funeral? If you/he feel you can say goodbye without going then I wouldn't go. The journey would be a lot for you let alone a day of being on your feet etc. If he goes, then I would personally go with him just from the point of view of it being easier to be with him if you did go into labour. The decision may be taken out of your hands before then anyway.

treedelivery · 10/01/2009 16:39

MissJackson - Ooooo good am glad they were calm. Would have made look a numpty if they flapped about!

Thought I'd go into a speech to bolster all you home birthers but I ought to learn not to go on. At least people don't have to read it if I'm tedious!

I feel sick and shaky. Grim.

LenniEd · 10/01/2009 16:44

Should add for all of you feeling under the weather - I felt bloody awful the last week before going into labour. High BP, low blood sugar, glucose in urine, SPD agony, cold... list goes on. Feel wonderful now by comparison, can sleep - well can lie down anyhow , can breathe, can walk around without being in pain. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Not long now for any of you.

treedelivery · 10/01/2009 16:54

Yay LenniEd!!!

We want to be like you!! Mind you don't have a changing mat.....

missjackson · 10/01/2009 16:54

Tree sorry to hear you're not feeling grim.

The funny thing about the birth diary was that the mother too was actually a MW - she was obviously in quite a lot of pain as the baby actually came out, but the moment he was out, she went into MW mode, and her and the real midwife set to work to get the baby going - she was directing her OH to get towels etc!

LenniEd am sooo envious of you being able to lie down and breathe, sounds wonderful. I can't wait to be able to sleep on my tummy again. And wear pyjamas. And eat a normal-sized meal. The list goes on...

rrrayray · 10/01/2009 17:01

Hi ladies.

Finally just got home from the MLU. monitored for 20 mins, then MW wanted register Obs opinion, so spoke to him on phone, who was happy with everything, but asked for trace to be sent by fax just incase. So i was putting shoes back on and coat, when MW came back in and said after seeing trace he wasn't happy with it, and wanted me to be monitored for another 30 mins minimum. So went back on monitor for about 45 mins... and trace was "reactive" despite me still not feeling any movements! Registrar happy with second trace so allowed home. But if no movement tomo have to go back in, if not got consultant appt 9.30 am monday morning.

Am now back at home with big bag of Cookies, under duvet on couch with OH and roaring fire watching Tv.

Eachpeach My goodness, what a bummer about the car!

Hope everyone else ok.

treedelivery · 10/01/2009 17:02

missjackson - thats quite nice to hear cos I was a nightmare to look after. Am hoping all mw find it hard to take their hat off in labour! I felt sooooo sorry for all who met me, paticulary the day shift who had 12 long hours of mooing, swearing, arguing with any management, demanding to know what was written about me, and generally accusing everyone of being incompetent fools!! Was bit more plesant to look after after the epidural. A bit.

I delivered dd1 myself really, I kept knocking the students hands away .

I think it was fear of a sort. I wasn't scared, I was just completely expecting the whole thing to go belly up at any stage! Am resolved to be more laid back and less controlling this time as I have proved to myself I am not doomed to every emergency under the sun just because I'm staff!!

Anyone willing to howl at moon? Worth a try

fourlittlefeet · 10/01/2009 17:57

fym, I've just found it a challenge driving 10 mins up the road and I'm due next Friday. I, for one, would not do it. It must be very difficult for your OH, but really not worth doing that to your poor bod; its going to go through enough with birth/breastfeeding/looking after your DS!

Just got giggles at G&T's post.

You're right though, you have 6 hours or you have to wait till Thursday. It's tradition. How does that appeal to you?

treedelivery · 10/01/2009 18:05

Load of blooming prostin!! God if they offered me it now I really dunno what I'd say. Be damned tempted I know that!

fourlittlefeet · 10/01/2009 19:00

come on tree, lets do get it done and over with tonight. I have increasingly painful backache and finally had one or two of those vaginal shooting pains, though not sure whether thats just the baby cuffing me down below .

OK, so:
am staring at moon
bouncing on ball
sniffing clary sage
drinking RLT
had a kebab and a walk earlier (its freezing!!)
May well try nookie if nothing doing by 10pm!

and i thought i was the only one obsessed with going into labour.

Talking of the full moon having an effect on bubbas, my MLU on average delivers 2 babies a week, well last night they delivered 3 in ONE night! Maybe there is hope..... for you ladies, don't feel it happening for me tonight!

moosemama · 10/01/2009 19:42

Hi,

Glad to hear you went for monitoring Ray, if yours is anything like mine, baby will now proceed to keep you awake all night by doing a fine impression of riverdance in your tum!

I WANT COOKIES TOO! (Failing that a big bag of giant chocolate buttons will do, as that's what I put my order in with DH for yesterday and he came back from the shop without them.)

Well, I lasted all of an hour when I got up earlier, then had to crawl back to bed. DS1 slept for about an hour then came into my bed and we had a poorly snooze together for another hour. I say a snooze because I have been having rather uncomfortable tightenings every 20 minutes all afternoon, so sleeping not really an option. They have however spurred me on to make up the crib and put away the last of the baby clothes.

Tree I feel really sick and shaky too. Don't know if its pregnancy, possible labour or just this rotten virus.

My lurcher has been howling on and off all afternoon. He only normally does that if we go out for a long time and leave him at home (neighbours really love him btw!) I suppose it could be the full moon affecting him - just hope he doesn't suddenly get hairier and start gnashing his teeth and drooling!

treedelivery · 10/01/2009 20:18

Gooooo Moosey!!

Or sleep fro 12 hours straight. You choose.

Gtdahb - you're exactly right! I just wanted to do it all myself and was even cosidering asking if could fill own notes, fetal heart etc at one point! Am shockin patient.

Yay Mooose!

EachPeachPearMum · 10/01/2009 20:23

Yay moose!!!! Hope this is it!

LG&T- you too at all?

FYM- I actually missed my GM funeral as it was 6 weeks after DD was born, and DD was ill, and it was a nightmare 4 hour drive (DH doesn't drive, I had an emcs, was bf on demand etc etc) Sometimes it just can't be possible. That said, we were not close at all, so I suppose it depends on the relationship he had with her. Is it feasible he goes alone?

rrayray- glad all is well with lo.

Who had the leg pains? My cramp has been bad in the night- definitely just cramp though- haven't found anything that eases it really I'm afraid- except not stretching... which sounds a bit odd, but is mostly doable.

Well- DD went to Nana's this afternoon, so DH and I did the shopping we needed to do (he was buying my birthday present!!!) so at least baby now has somewhere to sleep Phew! Oh, and a very nice new nappy bag I found in John Lewis- in my defence I haven't bought anything new for this one (well, apart from buggy and mattress) and DD's old one has fallen apart. It's nice and teeny and clips onto the buggy so I love it!

rrrayray · 10/01/2009 20:31

EachPeach Glad you feel like you have everything in line for LO

Moose Hoping this is IT for you... although sneakily wishing it was me! ....
No riverdance just yet, but i'm sure it will be later. have been sleeping shockingly, insomina central! OH and i are both shattered tonight, so agreed he is going to sleep in the spare room, so we can both hopefully get a little more sleep! Feel bad booting him out, but i think its best for us both!

Dog Glad leg feels better, whatever it was, I'd def keep a close eye on it though, sounds horrid!

Have eaten for about ten this evening.... Ooops!
