names-
girls: Constance (but I don't like the name Connie and DH doesn't like Tansy), Emiline, Megan, Gwendolyn
Boys: having trouble, Owen or Ewen or Euen, Rhys
...DH wants Welsh names mostly but I keep reminding him that my family will have trouble pronouncing a lot of the names he chooses and I don't want it to be uncomfortable for them. Welsh is fine as long as it's not TOO different.

Schulte · 07/01/2009 14:25

Well look what you guys are getting up to, and I was only gone for 10 minutes to do some work! Agree, if you can best thing is to leave your child with the MIL and go out and have some me time, I hate watching my MIL with DD although she is a nice person but just don't agree with the way she talks to/plays with DD. DD seems to be in love with her grandma though so I'll stay out of it!

Having another girl... if they didn't get it wrong! Very pleased that we'll be able to use all the baby clothes again and no need to buy anything new really - DH calls her the credit crunch baby.

4 nappies a day!!!!

He is definitely in for a HUGE shock, ds would sometimes go through that in a few hours in the beginning. Nappies were definitely a very steep learning curve for us in the beginning dh didnt quite know what had hit him, especially when I made him do his first formula fed nappy at about 8-9 weeks that was a huge shock after the breast fed ones!!

Bleuravin, I have found that I have tended to be the same as you with regard to ds. To me as long as he is fed and changed and knows where mummy is and someone can see him he needs to learn to make mistakes for himself tolearn and doesnt need to be hovered over every 2 seconds. But I have found myself trying to justify my actions to people. My main gripe is when ds needs to be told NO and EVERYONE in the room starts telling him. Im not bothered who it is who trys to stop him doing something but it only needs one person not everybody and he doesnt need automatically picking up and removing from what he is doing!!

It looks like I have taken you seriously about just posting and not just lurking I dont think I have ever posted as much!!!!!!!!

Oh Bleuraven I love the name Emiline and Ewen / Euen, that's my granddads name (although everyone calls him Michael!!?)

We're having the same issues with names - DH want's a Turkish name which I am fine with but it has to be pronounceable in English and easy for my family to say!!

Welcome on board Clairey!! as soon as you stop the lurking you can't stop posting!!!

I know I am thinking the first time the bubs has an upset tummy or explosive nappy I cannot wait for DH to tackle that one!

Thanks - not girls names, we have chosen those, just boys, I really like the name Tayan and Ebren now but DH is still stuck on Caravan (I mean Karahan which we are NOT having!)

BabyBolat · 07/01/2009 14:43

Oh Nutty forgot to say, showed DH your pics and he said you look lovely (a little crazy!!) and far too young to have a almost 5 year old DD!!!

Bleuravin · 07/01/2009 14:47

It's a bit of a struggle with the names; we're not going to decide I'm sure until Sprite's born...either that or he'll just be Sprite forever

BabyBolat · 07/01/2009 14:48

ha ha!! I have told DH that unless we decide we are calling the baby boy BO BO (our nickname for bubs), which will be BO BO BOLAT!! I think that is a good name x It's funny, you probably will end up calling him or her sprite for a long time, I think we will, that and bubs!!!

DH changed every single nappy in the first 3 weeks while he was on paternity leave - I had no clue how to do it when it was finally my turn. He said he found it strangely satisfying, cleaning up all that poo. Not sure I agree

Bleuravin · 07/01/2009 14:55

Schulte- lol I cannot imagine either. I've only changed sisters and nieces and nephews and other babes I was minding, and I never found it the least bit satisfying...I wonder if it will change when it's my own?

Yeah I really like Tayan and I will win this fight! If I am pushing bubs out then I get to name him!! and his name will not resemble anything like a tin on wheels!

That's not too early - I come from a very very small village originally and anyone that didn't go to uni or leave the village had babies by the time they were 18 or 19!

I haven't changed that many nappies to be honest but think once it is yours you will feel a bit happier - especially when they are no longer crying and smiling instead!!! think there will probably be some accidents for the first few days until I get my hands on it!!!

BabyBolat · 07/01/2009 15:04

I used to get a kick out of the raisins that came through... 'you didn't use them up!' I used to joke with my littlest sis, 'wash them off and eat them again' (I was 10 at the time )

Bleuravin - you sound like my kind of gal - we leave ds to get on with things a lot - not in an uncaring way - if he brings a toy or book to us we always play with him, and he gets loads and loads of cuddles cause he is a very cuddly boy, but if he wanders off in the house, we leave him to it, and occasionally just peek in the room to check he's ok - especially if it goes quiet (just before Christmas he had the lid off the roses and was tucking in quite happily) - but the same at toddler groups etc - we play with him when he asks us to and back off the rest of the time.

I know not everyone likes that approach, and i have a few friends who just seem to talk to their kids absolutely non-stop and that grates with me a bit cause they dont get a chance to explore things themselves, but everyone has their own way of doing things.

Bleuravin · 07/01/2009 15:30

this group is good for my ego. Thank you ladies.

Schulte · 07/01/2009 15:30

Conkertree remind me how old your son is? DD will happily play on her own / with other children at the playgroup or in nursery, but when she's at home she wants my attention most of the time no matter how much I try and encourage her to play on her own. Would love her to just get on with things and leave me to do some MNing!

BB what about Sinan, Deniz, Cem, Can? I once fell in love with a Can... ages ago...
