Well if you're all talking about food then I want to join - DH made me a lovely fish curry - been a bit mad about fish since I got pregnant, could eat it all day, every day. I just wish he didn't go on about what a good cook he is all the time! (Implying I am rubbish, of course.)

I'll just keep eating and trust that breastfeeding and running around after baby and not having time to eat will make the extra weight drop off like it did last time.

Might be in for a bad surprise though!

BabyBolat · 07/01/2009 21:16

Oh Schulte would love to be envious of your food but I am petrified of fish (like you are scared of spiders etc)

DH is a good cook (apart from supernoodles) and I have more than enjoyed that over the past 6 months!!!

We are just about to tuck in to a big old bar of dairy milk!!

Sweets still make me feel sick sometimes and like Boffinmum I like expensive chocolate only! Off to bed now - poor DH has to come too, I just can't fall asleep without him. How high maintenance am I?

BabyBolat · 07/01/2009 21:30

Ah Schulte - you are allowed to be - you are carrying his child after all!!!! (you get a whole 9 months of high maintenance-ness!!!)

Na night

Ok so, I think they are both lovely but my personal favourite is Aurora as it is quite unique xx I think it goes with your surname no problem but the middle name would have to be quite simple and probably a short, single syllable name like Aurora Rose or Aurora Jane or May or something (although not Aurora Jane just an example of a short simple name!)

babybolat - i feel exactly the same way about weight/taking it off later - good on you having a goal like that - i think i will aim for a half first and see how it goes, casue although i enjoy running, i've done two marathons now, and the second one i trained hard for, but we were running as a family group and one person had an injury so we ended up walking a lot at the end, and while it was great fun doing it together, it was disappointing to put in all that effort and still get a rubbish time.

boffinmum - as i say i'm a size 10 in my head but over the last few years i have yo-yo'd between a 12 - 14 probably about 16 at one point, and back again so i am one of these people who cant get into a decent routine and just stick at one size. need to find some discipline.

anyway - on a totally unrelated subject, do any of you (hoping boffinmum in particular might know but anyone is welcome to pass on knowledge) about any research done into families playing together (as opposed to giving the children money and sending them out to amuse themselves), particularly when the children are young, and the effect that has on the children at a later stage eg teenage years. Its a long shot I know, but dh is a youth worker and is doing a talk next week on play within families and its all based on anecdotal evidence from his own area, but wondered if there had been any actual studies done on it.

am going to try and get some actual work done today instead of looking for holidays/mnetting/looking for business cards etc etc etc. but i will sneak on from time to time anyway and see what you are all up to.

Morning ladies

Just picked up on some chatter about weight gain and the losing it later...

I am a size 14/16 anyway, so now that I am preggers I am hoping not to go up more than one dress size. With my first pregnancy, I did the whole not caring and just enjoying being pregnant and eating how much I liked.

Big mistake....I was a size 20 after giving birth. Devastated me! I dropped down to size 18 pretty quickly, but was then stuck there for 2 years.

This time round, I am really trying to watch my weight a little...I am 27 weeks and had gained 9.5 kilos before Christmas.

Was very unwell over the holidays and weight dropped down to a 7 kilo gain. So maybe the bug was a blessing in disguise because that bascically means a 1 stone gain.

I want to try and keep it at this as I don't want to be a size 20 EVER AGAIN!

Sorry....has become a bit of a rant.....

Someone else was mentioning baby being very kicky. I HAVE THE EXACT SAME THING! My first DS was nowehere near as kicky as this one! This baby has been power kicking me since about 16 weeks and it takes my breath away somedays now he delivers such a strong blow at times!!! Little boxer!

At my 25 week appointment with my GP, as soon as the doplar touched my tummy baby kicked right back. Then happened again as soon as GP tried again! Made my GP laugh and promptly comment that baby is obviously perfectly fine and happy.

At least that was nice to hear....

Claireykitten · 08/01/2009 11:15

Good Luck this afternoon/evening Nutty hope they manage to get you sorted out!!

Since I am feeling in such a nice mood this morning I shall make you all feel really thin and admit that pre-pregnancy I was a 18/20 unfortunately more 20 than 18 though. Am quite pleased though as I still seem to be able to fit into size 20 maternity stuff so I cant have put that much weight on, if no where else I seem to have actually lost weight on my hands as my wedding and engagement rings are really loose at the minute and I keep nearly losing them.

What do you all you lovely ladies think. Namewise we are at a bit of a stalemate at the minute, as I have said before we had always said a little girl would be Ellone Rose but once we found out this was a little girl I got awkward and decided I wanted to change my mind and kept suggesting different names which were always shot down in flames. Then ... I suggested Jessica just as a name off the top of my head and dh immediately said Jessikat and decided he quite liked the idea of having a little Jessikat (as a nickname not the real name) and I admit I thought it was quite sweet but the more I think about it I just cant imagine having a little Jessica and really dont like Jessie which is what shed get called (I have found myself doing it coz its easier!)but dh just wont budge I have even said that I am quite liking Ellone again now Imover my rebellion but dh says that HE has gone off it now and that since Oscar is mine (in terms of being a mummys boy) and I supposedly named him (it was a joint decision!) that this is his little daddys girl and he should get to name her.

So what I am basically asking is what do you all think of Jessica? So far we havent had that good a reaction from family. BTW it would be Jessica Rose. My other issue is that to me it doesnt seem to go with Oscar.

Sorry for the epic again!!

Claire xXx

Morning everyone

Well I could go on about the weight gain / size of bump thing forever... put on a shocking 17 kgs the first time round, wasn't even able to do up my boots or wear my wedding ring after 7 months but had a compact bump and delivered a tiny 6lb 8oz baby! Basically the fat all sat on my thighs. This time it's going to be even worse and my thighs are already so big that the skin is really itchy and I have to slap cream on non stop. GP said my bump was 3 weeks ahead of my dates in terms of size. Ouch. And my mum keeps telling me she never put on more than 6 kgs with both her children, thanks mum really helpful

But what can you do when feeling hungry makes you feel sick???

Funny to hear about all those babies kicking so much, this one here seems very laid back and in both scans never so much as lifted her arm. Number one was VERY lively and still is, can't sit still for longer than a second so wouldn't mind a quieter second child!

Nutty, do hope they can sort your back out, all fingers and toes crossed!
