It'll be an alternative merry Christmas for us this year ;)

i like all the posts now regarding girls . though i still don't know what we're having am sure it will be a girl. was starting to warm to the idea of a 3rd girl when both DDs were tantrumming this morning when the plasterer was around. Are girls more emotional?

i really need a boy this time or a reeallly easy going girl. if only i could order .

oh, i figured out what to get with my £190: i've always wanted a really nice, big, tan leather bag and this grant would give me a great excuse to treat.

on the food side, defn champagne and the runniest cheese i can find. crusty sourdough bread as well to dip in the cheese. yummm.

pulapula · 09/01/2009 15:01

Spangle- hope u feel better soon

Lie-in? Whats one of them! DS is always awake before 7 these days.

Just been to Asda to get my mums-to-be bounty pack- not much in it but the £5 off when u spend £15 on baby stuff is good for getting more cute baby clothes! Theres also a free newborn starter kit coupon in the bounty booklet i got from the hospital
which is good (free nappies and wipes).

Does anyone elses LO always wake up crying? DS is 18mo and seems to do this even after a good nights sleep or long nap (didn't used to). He's just woken up...bye....

SpangleMaker · 09/01/2009 16:20

Thanks for the good wishes! Definitely feel a bit better today, hopefully will be back to normal after the w/e. Cote it's definitely just a nasty cold/mini-flu thing with cough etc, DH has had it too, so not worried about listeria. I just got a bit paranoid about potential harm to baby - guess I'll have to get used to that as a first timer! BTW baby doesn't seem bothered in the slightest and has been jumping about merrily throughout.

alapala the Selfridges thing sounds interesting. I've always been convinced nobody makes jeans for my size & shape; I've never been totally happy with any yet and have given up on maternity jeans after 2 unsuccessful purchases.

Momino I blew my Christmas-sales-shopping fund on a very posh handbag, but I'm still going to need a changing bag......

SpangleMaker · 09/01/2009 16:28

And yes - champagne, with smoked salmon for me (have to confess I have had both over Christmas though!)

DH & I really enjoyed the chowder served in sourdough bread bowl when on holiday in San Francisco. One of the best parts of the holiday was tucking into that after we'd cycled over the Golden Gate bridge and back - first time on a bike since I was about 12, so a thoroughly well-deserved meal.

See, I must be feeling better if I'm thinking about food!

llareggub · 09/01/2009 16:35

I thought smoked salmon was fine, so long as you took the normal health and hygiene precautions. I certainly ate it by the bucket load in the first trimester when I couldn't eat enough of it!

llareggub · 09/01/2009 16:37

Actually I might tuck the £190 away somewhere and kit myself out with some new clothes post-baby. I remember feeling really awful post-birth last time because nothing fitted. Some new clothes would be a lovely incentive to get the weight off, although I'm pretty sure I'll be smaller this time around due to the diabetes.

MsG · 09/01/2009 19:18

Hi - had the scan today and it was all fine! So very relieved.

I like the sound of a spa day with the £190... x

Rubysmom08 · 09/01/2009 19:51

Hi ladies

Hope you are all OK. I am having the worst wortst week of my life and I am feeling sorry for myself........

I ended up in the labour ward today as I woke up with cramps and lots of blood, albeit it was brown but there was a lot. Very scared and felt like a dreadful mother as I was very moody last night and cried to dh about not wanting a boy and dh said the baby will hear (his attempt to shut me up) and then this happened this morning I felt terrible. I have a low lying placenta and cervical erosion apparently. The cervical erosion is linked somehow to my SPD.

Just feel so crap and can't wait for this week to be over. There is never anything wrong with me and I am such a healthy person and this is why it is all so distressing as I am not used to feeling this cruddy.

Anyway moan over, hope you have all had a better week than me

Momino · 09/01/2009 19:58

Rubysmom, big hugs to you and hope you're better this evening. the week is almost over so it will get better.

Spangle, we went to SanFran a couple of years ago and loved the chowder in the sourdough bowl. Dd1 was with us and really liked the sourdough pizza. hope you're feeling a bit better. it's not a fun illness, is it? I've just gotten over it after nearly 3 weeks and just left with dry cough.

am feeling a bit nauseous today. I know i'm over this flu/cold since i feel more pregnant than with cold.

don't feel like cooking, off to get some dominoes pizza.

llareggub · 09/01/2009 20:09

Rubysmom I'm so sorry for the problems you've had this week. You'll have been told this I'm sure, but brown blood is very rarely anything sinister. Keep your feet up as much you can and try to relax.

We were up most of the night with DS, who was complaining about a big green frog jumping on his bed. He is only just 2 so I couldn't quite get across the concept of a dream to him. The poor little thing has been talking sorrowfully about frogs all day! He won't go to bed this evening so is sitting downstairs with us with a Maisie book. Bless him. DH and I are exhausted, and it has been a real reminder of what life will be like with a newborn in a few months!

Tummum · 09/01/2009 20:11

Hugs Rubysmom you have had a really rough week. How is the SPD doing? I am being fitted with a support belt thing on Monday... sexy !!

Have a good weekend all.x

Tummum · 09/01/2009 20:14

Mmmmm I fancy a Dominoes pizza too... pepperoni passion for me please

CoteDAzur · 09/01/2009 20:41

Arrgh... pizza....!

I'm starving pretty much all the time. Trying to keep weight gain down so baby won't be a 4 kg whopper like last time, with hopes that birth might be a bit less disastrous. I put on 3 kgs so far. Snacking on a half apple, and eating vegetables, meat, salad, and yogurt for the most part.

BabyBolat · 10/01/2009 08:53

Hi all so sorry to crash your thread just wanted to say to CoteD'Azor thank you so much for your message - completely get what you mean about ridiculous name sites in the UK but that website is fantastic! DH is a very happy boy!! It's been a nightmare trying to find one we both like!!

Will definitely come and speak more if that's OK! Hope the rest of you ladies are all doing well.

Thanks again CoteDAzur xx

Morning ladies.

Hope you have a better day rubysmom.

spangle know what you mean about the chowder, not something I ever thought i'd like but when I went to Memphis a few years ago with an ex I discovered a tiny restaurant where the chowder was fab!

divedaisy · 10/01/2009 12:18

CoteDAzur - what was the web site you receommended to BabyBolat??

I haven't been on in a while and I will have to catch up on the 7 pages or so I've missed.

Oh I LOVE chowder! With wheaten bread and butter!

DS turned 6 yesterday - I'll have to find the list and update it. His party is tomorrow. He has a party today, and I think I may spend this free time having a look at prams..... I cannot wait to get all the baby stuff out of the cubby hole/attic!!! DS asked DH how does Mummy lay the egg in her tummy!!!

I bath last night watching my belly move about - isn't it the best viewing ever?!

Re sexy boobs - my DH does want to have a play with them, but I cannot tolerate it. My nipples are so sensitive, and at times very itchy!! It's as much as I can do to tolerate them in my bra sometimes! Is anyone esles baby lying very low down to the point where it seams to be kicking you in the cervix - very sensitive!

SpangleMaker · 10/01/2009 13:12

Rubysmom hope you are ok today and taking it easy x

MsG congrats on the scan!

Feeling quite a bit better today although still very tired & horrid cough. Momino 3 weeks! I'm such an impatient patient, I always expect - totally unrealistically - to get better right away but I can see this bug is a lingerer. DH had it before me and is still looking very washed out.

Had a text from my overdue friend yesterday - she had her baby boy on Tuesday after being induced - 10lb!! [wince] They'd been kept in for a few days to check he is getting enough to eat but should be home by now I think. Hopefully I'll be able to visit in a couple of weeks when she's settled (and I'm germ free) - can't wait to meet him I'm not sure if I dare ask about the birth though!

pulapula · 10/01/2009 13:23

spangle- 10lb is a bigun! Although in some ways they say bigger babies are "easier" as the contractions push them down more efficiently (although makes my eyes water in terms of the final push!). I didn't actually feel my DD come out as I had a spinal block in (thank goodness!).

llareggub · 10/01/2009 13:54

Afternoon!

I've had a busy day. I've decided to take the plunge and toilet-train DS. He has done very well this morning, just one little accident, sadly on my lap! Fingers crossed....any tips gratefully received!

Tummum · 10/01/2009 15:14

Afternoon - well done llareggub with the toilet training. I have avoided tackling it with DD2 (she's 2.5) but really should tackle it.

Is anyone else in a permanently crap mood? I getting to the point where I am annoying myself with being moody. DH and DC can't do anything right.... that being said it doesn't help DH was out at a do last night, stayed over and is now in bed because "He's tired". So I look after the DC all day. Again. And I'm in agony / cream crackered from SPD... sorry... I'm moaning again !! Thank goodness for Cbeebies. My DC will have square eyes by the end of this pregnancy !

Momino · 10/01/2009 15:41

hi all, hope you're all well.
Cote, if you've any ideas on good babyname sites, please let us know. I'm not focusing on any cultural origin (eg celtic) but would like a 'cool' baby name without being outrageous, if possible.

llareggub, potty training dd1 who's just turned 3. started just before her birthday at Christmas and at first she refused though could hold it it but we hung in for 2 days withsticker charts and smarties as rewards and the 3rd day she went without accident. i think persistence, ignoring or playing down accidents, enthusiastically praising when she's successful, buying new pants all help. Good luck!

Momino · 10/01/2009 15:46

Tummum, I'm miserable as well. nagging andcomplaining to DH who thinks I'm too high strung (he's right). I also growl each time the DDs want anything from me including a cuddle when I'm in the middle of working or cleaning. i thank goodness for cbeebies as well (what we're doing right now).

i'm hoping it's hormones that will sort out soon. am being counselled for PND still and feel better but not great - so wonder if i'm 'normal' now... will I always be this moody and grumpy? if so, poor DC3 yet to arrive!
