I saw my obstetrician yesterday and asked if my recent fever may have hurt the baby. He said that at this stage of pregnancy, it would only be worrying if there was only fever and no other flu symptoms (sneezing, coughing, sore throat, etc) because then it could point to listeria.

Apparently, listeria manifests itself as a 38-39 C fever that has no symptoms of a cold.

delightedoldbag34 · 08/01/2009 19:55

oh please stop talking about yummy food. Am still hungry after having dinner and the thought of camembert baked in its box with warm french bread to dip in it is so appealing. (DH made a duck SALAD for dinner which was delicious but a bit small so I'm still hungry) - anyone else totally ravenous all the time? I think the little one must be piling on the pounds too - he's certainly been jumping about plenty today, maybe doing some aerobics to work off the calories I'm eating! Shame it doesn't work that way isn't it.

There do seem to be a lot of boys coming up on this thread. Wonder if that means all those who aren't finding out the sex are having girls???? (except momino of course)!

delightedoldbag34 · 08/01/2009 19:58

And do you think the money left over from after my spa day, pate, champagne, sushi, sparkly frock, new heels and matching bag might pay for a tummy tuck and boob lift? If so I'll add them to my (fantasy) list of things to spend my £190 on..........

detsy · 08/01/2009 21:30

I'm def with you on the lipo and boob lift fo my £190 but owuld also love some pate and stilton and some specialist mamamio massage treatments on a special massage bed with tummy and boob hammocks. Do you think the £190 will stretch to this, don't mind adding a tenner to make it a round £200...

Apparently there are such things as tummy and boob hammock beds for us wee fatties but I can't find them anywhere.. My local mamamio place does it on a beanbag apparently??

Off to Dubai tomo (work)and tried to book a preg massage in the hotel but was told that pregnancy is NOT allowed should be interesting as its quite hard to hide

detsy · 08/01/2009 21:32

Right off to hoick in 8million bags of heavy shopping from the car. Was waiting for Dp to come home and do it but he's only just left Uxbridge (we're in cheshire) so he could be a while and my tea is in the bags in the car

Also forgot to get chocolate and am DESPERATE for a cream egg (or half a dozen creme eggs..)

Momino · 08/01/2009 21:54

delighted, that's what I'm worried about! all of you are having all the boys... and leave it up to me to have the girl!

Funny, in our nct antenatal course we were the only girl, the other 5 couples had boys. i see a trend. better go to bed now and start scanning baby name books for new girl names.

FiKelly · 08/01/2009 22:03

count me in for the fantasy feast but heavy on the sushi with a side of smoked salmon & cured meats like parma ham and chorizo..

FiKelly · 08/01/2009 22:28

good job i've been laid up with germs since we found out or i'd have been spending on girly stuff in the sales and then hiding the evidence from friends and family as not telling anyone off here..

Oooooh I'd love to come and meet you all for some forbidden food and drink...........why don't you all come to Scotland and have a picnic in my garden? I make a mean Margarita!

FiKelly · 08/01/2009 22:50

if mil doesn't make it down to us after #2 is born we'll be heading up to her in helensburgh at some stage..

Would love to join in with the fantasy feast chat but have been off food since getting this bug. Cote I was going to ask if you ever had any advice re the fever. I've been feverish since yesterday - BOILING hot this morning & evening (been wearing T-shirt with no heating on & wet flannel on my neck) but FREEZING in the afternoon (heating on full blast, huddled under blanket on the sofa). Took my temp this morning & it was 38.5 but paracetamol & the cold flannels brought it down. Glad to know it's not likely to be harmful to the baby.

Detsy in non-pg state I'd envy you the exotic travel but just at the minute Birmingham seems quite far enough!

delightedoldbag34 · 08/01/2009 22:53

By the way congrats to all those having girls. Baby girls are just delicious.........and buying girly clothes is so much fun. Boo, I will have to see how I fare with the cordoroy, dungarees and tank tops I saw in Monsoon baby the other day for little boys. Quite cute but nowhere near the cuteness of the baby girl stuff. Luckily I have plenty of neices and friends little baby girls to buy for instead!
(Although TBH for the first few months I tend to keep them in baby grows all the time as they look so much comfier and more relaxed than all trussed up in 'proper' looking clothes. I do put smarter baby grows on for day and plainer ones for the night to differentiate in case you thought I was a slob who left my babies in their PJ's all day!) I particularly love those really soft squishy velour baby grows you get ...mmmmmmmmmm And I'm so looking forward to putting the new baby into my favorite baby grows that both girls wore when they were tiny (pale neutral colours in super soft velour fabric). There is something so lovely about seeing each new baby wearing clothes you remember their older siblings wearing (or is that just me?)
Or maybe I shouldn't do it since he's a boy and they are girls? Yikes, a dilemma already.
Off to bed now. DH is boring himself with the golf and is starting to whinge about needing to go to sleep. Byee. x

delightedoldbag34 · 08/01/2009 22:55

Oh spangle - big sympathy and look after yourself. Hope you feel much better in the morning.

SpangleMaker · 08/01/2009 22:59

Delighted thanks

Know what you mean about the clothes. I had a little look in the Monsoon sale after Christmas and there were rails and rails of gorgeous girls things and only one of boys' clothes. I guess it was just as well or I'd've had a bit of a splurge!

detsy · 08/01/2009 23:07

Well ladies I guess for those of us having surprises, what will be will be. It does seem there are a lot of boys due on here, I'm oh so secretly hoping for a little girl again! Am surprising myself and getting to the point where I think I might ask the question at our next scan....but then again...I loved the thrill of the surprise after all the work when Lottie was born. Oh decisions, decisions!!

Spangle you poor thing, hope you feel better soon and are getting plenty of TLC from DH

delighted count me in for the summer picnic at yours so long as you're not near the midges!

FiKelly · 09/01/2009 11:37

A lie in till 9.30 - bliss

I was up at 6. DH kept me awake most of the night coughing - he got grumpy when I said perhaps I should sleep in the spare room.

We've got my stepdaughter for the weekend - just hope she behaves as I'm so tired. She's jealous of the baby as she's had her dad to herself for the last 10.5 years. It was a struggle for her to accept me at first but we have a good relationship now - or did

Just hope it all goes okay.

CoteDAzur · 09/01/2009 13:48

Spangle - My doctor said that fever caused by a cold/flu was not harmful to the baby at this stage of pregnancy. It would only be a cause for worry if it was due to a nasty underlying cause like listeria.

Do you have a cold - i.e. runny nose, cough, sore throat, etc? If you have no other symptom but fever, then I would get checked out.

FiKelly · 09/01/2009 13:56

looby ikwym about lie ins... still counting them on one hand in over 2yrs ;) makes me appreciate them all the more when they happen...

I'm sure your step daughter will be fine... especially when she realises that the new addition won't affect the way DH & you feel about her and that she'll always have a special place.

Well Madrid is deep in snow today - we have been making a snowman in the garden. And there was I thinking this would be a hot posting!

Signed up to pregnant swimming at the local municipal sports centre (or embarassed swimming as DH calls it - it's natacion para embarazadas in Spanish!). I went along thinking it would involve lots of floating and maybe a bit of stretching, so showed up having had no dinner and contact lenses in... and it was more like triathlon training! I was exhausted going up and down, but if I keep it up twice a week, I'll be seriously fit!

My £190 has to go on some v fancy jeans. Have been waiting to have my babies, lose the weight (could be some time..) an then go to Selfridges where they do you a 3D body scan and a computer finds you the perfect jeans from their outrageously priced collection. The rest on margaritas.
