Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I know HOW EXCITING there were lovely lil cow print babygrows too but dh said that we had spent enough cash for one day lol and that i should leave the clothes until early march to give myself something to do rather than going mad waiting to pop

luckily we still have the cot that we used for dd, so just have to get a new mattress, bedding and moblie. so thats all the big stuff covered

going to start ordering nappies, wet wipes etc on our monthly shopping from now on so that we will have that and not have to worry for a while when lo does arrive

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 21:28

BabyPringle - say to your dh that newborn babies need to have sterile (i.e new pushchair) because dust mites etc affect baby's breathing (big fib of course) but it may just get you a new one

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 21:29

That's a really good idea. I should start doing that.

I'm worried about buying things like nappies, though (we intend to use disposables, because we're too lazy to wash them all ), as I obviously don't know how big he'll be / how fast he'll grow. Maybe I'll have to just start a nappy fund instead.

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 21:32

get a few small packs of newborn size and a few the next size up, so at least your covered if its a bigger baby

babypringle · 21/12/2008 21:33

we had mothercare cow print babygrows for DS, it will be really exciting to get them out again. finding it hard to find a balance between buying everything new and re-using what we already have. And I so wish we knew the baby's sex so we didn't have to get everything in yellow and cream again.

And DS is still awake FFS! I have no idea how I'll cope with 2 if I can't control the one I have [stressed smiley]

babypringle · 21/12/2008 21:36

Good idea nutty, but DH is a science bod and sadly he never falls for my pseudo-scientific theories.
i need to start buying nappies. we have washable ones from DS, but I'm not sure I can be bothered to go through all that faffing again. Snowy - I don't think u can have too many nappies, DS seemed to get through at least a dozen a day when he was small, more if DH changed him cos he'd break the tapes/put them on backward/cover them in sudocrem etc

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 21:42

ahhh bum..... i do think a new pushchair and or carseat is essential though as they always seem to change the safety things and the standards of them (thats just me and my justification to dh though lol)

plus our old travel system has lived in our shed for the past year (uuurrrrgggghhhh)

me and huggies are old friends

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 21:56

Nutty, you're so devious Shame pringle's DH isn't easily fooled.

& I have no idea how I'm going to cope with one, never mind two. I can't even imagine how it's going to be.

I'm fairly sure that he'll be a long baby, although obviously have no idea about weight. But being long doesn't affect nappy size, does it? I know that long babies don't fit into newborn babygrows or whatever, but they can still wear newborn nappies?

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 22:44

yep tis more about girth than length with nappies so you should be fine

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 22:50

Nutty, when isn't it?

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 22:59

snowy tis so true lol

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 23:00

We always end up lowering the tone & introducing the smut to the thread

I say 'we'...

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 23:03

with baby grows n stuff i would say get a variety of newborn and 0-3 months to cover that as well

dd was a long baby (endless lil legs just like daddy lol) and fitted into all her nb stuff

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 23:04

hey count me in! always up for a bit of smut and tone lowering me lol

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 23:12

Thanks for the advice - it's also difficult planning for what other people will buy, isn't it? So many unknowns!

& we really have to go for a drink together at some point after we've dropped & your back's sorted

mrsfossil · 21/12/2008 23:12

A big happy christmas to all you mums and mums to be and bumps on this lovely new thread.
I raise a glass of lemonade to you all and say
Here's to being able to get sloshed on mulled wine next crimbo

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 23:15

Merry Christmas, mrsfossil! I'll drink to that!

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 23:22

Snowy - it's a minefield thats for sure lol as long as you get what you need for basics, just see what other people get too then sit down with baby in front of the laptop (or go shopping when you feel ready) and order whatever else you think you need, you get the benefit of having lil george's opinion then too

indeedy miss sunshine!!! tis something i will look forward too

Mrsfossil - and a very merry christmas to you .......oooooohhhh what i wouldnt do for a mulled wine

lixanismapolium · 22/12/2008 06:38

Morning All. You may remember me - I left this thread at 11 weeks after a mmc.

Well, I just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and all the very best with all of those beautiful April babies.

I also have some good news to share .... I just got a BFP this morning and have started the Due in September 2009 group!!!!!!

Fingers crossed I will make it all the way! GOt a good feeling about this one!

BabyCRIMBOlat · 22/12/2008 08:53

Oh Lixan that is fantastic news - I am so pleased for you - what a wonderful Christmas present - have a very very relaxing Xmas and pop back in to let us know how you are getting on!

Snowy - I think we are getting that one in pistachio (with all the circles etc on - my sisters friend has it and absolutely loves it!) I did a bit of baby shopping at the weekend - got a bouncy chair and ordered some baby grows - my sister has VIP access to Next sale which starts on boxing day so I went through it yesterday and ordered loads of baby things, won't actually process through until today but still will have so much coming after Xmas - can't wait!!

I am going to get the pram and cot straight after Xmas - very excited - but literally going to get the very basics as I don't know what I will end up using so going to get basic clothes, nappies, pram cot and then just bits and bobs - already have a carrier thing - so much for my idea of being really careful and not getting anything until feb / march time!!

Lol at the smut. It will only get worse (better!) I fear....

I have a travel system..so excited. And willl be getting all the little cute stuff down from loft this week. The thought of all that washng and ironing is making me giddy with excitement..DH might have a heart attack if he hears that

Lixanismapolium, so pleased for you

SantasNuttySTaff · 22/12/2008 09:26

Lixan - so pleased for you about the BFP, congratulations, take it easy and keep us updated ((hugs)) Merry Christmas

BB - how did your night out go? did you have fun?

Mathsmummy - pregnangy does wierd things lol actually makes you excited about washing & ironing so you can ooohhhh and ahhhh at the tiny lil baby clothes

SantasNuttySTaff · 22/12/2008 09:32

oh and BB resisting for almost 7/8 months is everyones plan i think but after the second scan you just get the itch to buy georgeous stuff especially as it seems to be everywhere you look, preg brain seems to have a 'cute stuff' radar (its far too difficult to resist) and besides its better to buy stuff now as the sales this side of christmas are always better than the ones after i find

Carameli · 22/12/2008 09:38

Hi all, hope you are all well. I have been plagued with cough and colds over the past few weeks as well as everyone going down with the dreaded virus that has been going around. Dd's school had 69 children off one day with it.

We had our scan last week and found out we are having another boy, bit of a suprise as it felt much more like when I was pregnant with dd.
She was not too happy when we told her as she wanted a sister rather than another brother so a bit of work to do there. As I said she won't have someone trying to pinch her clothes when she is older or toys

I still have a terrible cough so if anyone has any great ideas apart from honey and lemon drinks I would love to hear them. Have been on one set on anit'b's and think I might have to go back to the gp as my chest is still quite wheezy. Such a pain as i was hoping to have a glass of wine on Christmas Day so will be a pain if I have to take more anti-b's.

DD(5) is getting very excited about Christmas and DS(2) just loves all the lights, it is so sweet.

well must go and get some things done.

Great news Lixanismapolium!

BabyCRIMBOlat · 22/12/2008 09:55

SNS yeah it was nice - was very conscious that I was very very sober but was good to catch up! although I had a lot of issues with outfits!!!!

Carameli yay for another DS! sure your DD will love it once he is here!
