dh has gone to town today to get my crimbo prezzies lol, i just know i'm going to end up with whatever he can lay his hands on cos he's going to get really annoyed with ques (sp?) and busyness. why are men incapable of being organised at christmas lol. i doo feel slightly sorry for him as it is going to be chaos today

BabyCRIMBOlat · 20/12/2008 14:08

Morning all - welcome back snowy!

I was really looking froward to winding down for Xmas but this week has been manic at work!!

Swaliswan - hope you feel better soon - where abouts in s'ton are you based? I am just passed portsmouth so we are very close

mathsmummy - feel better soon!!

I am suffering slightly from poo problems so have been drinking OJ and eating lots of fruit and veg to save myself - not too bad at the moment but don't want it to become worse!!!

It's a major day in our house today = DH passed his driving test (he started learning earlier in the year) but lets just say it wasn't exactly his first attempt (try 9th!!!) and he finally passed - think we were more excited about that than when we found out I was pregnant ! I am genuinely really pleased for him as he was petrified he wouldn't pass in time for the baby!!

I have Xmas dinner with the girls tonight which I normally love but feeling a bit anti-social (that and I am annoyed I am going to miss the Strictly final - got to love Sky+!!) - Think it will be the first time I really miss alcohol!! God I am such a young a hip 20-something!! not!! Need to do something to get myself in the mood! Nutty can I borrow Britney??

Going off to make DH's favourite meal now (turkish spinach & feta pancakes!) for when he comes back from work

Speak soon xx

Nutty, that actually sounds a bit similar to what DS2 has got. He has now eaten a bowl of ice cream so might be on the mend a little.

I am not Wonderwoman at all, I am lucky that working in academe means I can be more flexible than in a lot of jobs. However childcare is always an issue because I don't earn megabucks. I think my job also works well for me, because it overlaps to being a mum in the sense that I am passionately interested in education and think about it all the time anyway.

BabyCRIMBOlat · 20/12/2008 14:11

Snowy forgot to say, glad that things are looking clearer for DP, fingers crossed all will go ok, you never know having the baby around the same time as DP comes off the tablets might actually help him as it will keep him distracted and give him a focus as it were - anyway good luck - remember we are here if you need to offload!!

BB - congrats to your DH!!! i passed on my 9th too

SantasNuttySTaff · 20/12/2008 15:12

Boffin - i suppose what i meant by the wonderwoman name change is that i admire you, you have 3dc with another on the way , you work in an area that is constantly changing which means that you have to contantly learn new things?, you have been really great in coping with your spd and you still have time to help us lot out here on mn & do nigella type cooking stuff. and thats just from what i have gleaned from your posts i'm sure you do much more than that too & more that you dont give yourself credit for.

not that i dont admire everyone else for different/ similar reasons, because i do.

mn constantly amazes me, and makes me feel proud to be female & a part of the mn community.

VirginBoffinMum · 20/12/2008 15:33

Oh Nutty, you have made my day . I do like to run a comfy, nice home with happy people in it, and make a difference professionally as well, and sometimes I wonder if anyone at all has noticed!

Actually DD is home at the moment and feeding me home made brownies with cream to perk me up, she's such a whizz in the kitchen if a bit messy. That's helping morale too. She's also helping look after her poor brother and watching Ratouille with him to cheer him up.

brettgirl2 · 20/12/2008 19:20

Hi ladies hope all is well. Snowy that sounds like good news about your OH - hopefully he may be back to his normal self before too long.

I have 24 week midwife appointment on Tuesday - does anyone else have "white coat syndrome"? I know that my BP is fine (have had slightly raised BP in the past so know the signs) but it won't be when I am in the appointment - it's such a vicious circle because the more I worry about it happening the more it does . I also don't have Mat B certifite yet - I am assuming that they just issue it to you in this appointment? What are you doing about ante-natal classes - I couldn't find anything about them in the pack given to me by mw - looked into NCT but they were daytime in the area I wanted. I know that you are entitled to loads in terms of taking time off work but I am working to a major deadline currently and the more time I take off the more pressure I will end up under. I bet I've left the NHS classes too late also, probably they will be booked up - oh well I just won't go!

BTW in terms of this maternity grant this link may shed some light. Due date has to be next financial year (6th April or later) but it isn't means tested in any way.

Just checking in...still around, but never manage to keep up with these threads! Been feeling under the weather - really since the cold I had in September. Yes, 3 months later and I've still had lingering symptoms - mainly bad chest congestion/wheezing. Finally went to doctor yesterday and he's given me a course of antibiotics (to clear up possible infection) and an inhaler to help with the wheezing. I think the inhaler seemed to really help even after using it only for the first time - wonder if that's possible?! But the wheezing has really vanished since yesterday. Had to wait in Boots for another half hour today tho, as they gave me antibiotics that had expired in November! So, hopefully I'll be better soon.

Getting lots of huge kicks and baby in ribs etc. I think this is gonna be a big one! LOL (first was 5lb 14oz on due date and second was 7lb 5oz, 3 days early) so wonder what this baby will weigh in as?! But I feel sooo big already. Lots of lower back pain and standing too long is miserable.

Wow, only just over 3 months exactly till due date (1st April), where has the time gone?! Though I'm banking on a March baby, since neither of my other 2 children were late at all....tho never know, huh?! Especially since it was the dating scan that moved my (thought correct) date a week early...so this might end up being late after all.

OK, off to do dishes & tidy up the house, now that children are asleep! I really will try to keep up with this better!

tristaleejac · 21/12/2008 01:10

Hi everyone!
Really sorry haven't been around in so long. Life's been hectic lately. Seems to be calming down just in time for the madness of christmas.
Hope everyone's doing well. I've missed you all! Looking forward to catching up again.
I have news and I'm so happy. My DP and I have finally sorted out our differences and are back together. We still have loads of talking and healing to do but we're taking little steps, and right now we're just really happy to be back together. We can share this pregnancy and onwards now, which at last brings me hope.
Ok pregnancy wise, I have a very very active little baby in there! What parties it has, jumping around all the time. Think I'll have my hands full with this one! It is amazing though.
I have quite a bump now and I love it, although my ass seems to be in competition and is growing at the same rate! Same with my boobs now come to think of it. Oh God.....I have 5 bumps!
Leaky boobs have started, although thankfully haven't had any 'wet patch' incidents!
Anyway I'm off to bed, I'll hopefully catch some of you here tomorrow
Goodnight xxx

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 01:32

riggggghhhhhhttttt soooooooooo

just came on to vent a lil, dh went out tonight for a mates birthday (all groovy), i sent him a text to say night night and got a txt back to say that he was having a really bad night, and that he was popping home in 10 mins. (me v worried & gone into slight panic mode thinking all sorts of omg is he hurt etc)

the bugger strolls in saying that hardly anybody turned up, mates missus got turned away from one club and then got chucked out for being all unnescessary blah blah rubbish/ bad night and that he was just picking up some booze from the cupboard and going back to his brothers for the rest of the night, pickes up crate of cider and xbox games and off he goes into the moonlight

now dont get me wrong, i have no problem with him doing this, he has a right to a night off after being wonderful looking after me and doing all housework chores etc BUT after getting worked up & worried i cant sleep, and now that i know the bed is just going to have lil me in it it doesn't feel right and dd is asleep so i cant wake her up to come snuggle me (boohoo) oh and i'm a little bit of him going out and having a bevvie or two (i catagorically would not have had a bad night out in my pre preg able to go out & drink state) huuurrrrumph bring on the summer so that i can go out and party just me and my coco for now

sorry ramble over

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 20:20

brettgirl, thanks for the link about the maternity grant - I didn't know about it, but shall definitely be asking my midwife (when I can get hold of her!)

rachel, I hope the antibiotics help now that you've got the right ones. How can they give you ones that had expired? You'd think that they'd be more careful of things like that...

trista, I'm so pleased to hear about you & DP - fingers crossed that it all works out okay. It must be lovely to have him around to share things with, at last. I hope he can be the support that you need him to be.

Nutty, bless you. They don't seem to get that we worry about them, do they? It's so irritating. More irritating is the 'bad night'! Like you, I would never have had a bad night. There's no such thing if you're out with mates! I hope you got some sleep in the end & that he's been making it up to you this afternoon.

I'm currently baking again. I've made some chocolate orange scones from a recipe that I invented off the top of my head & DP says that the one that he was allowed to sample was the nicest scone he's ever had (it was quite yummy ) & now I have double chocolate muffins in the oven at the moment, although they're somehow refusing to cook Hopefully they'll sort themselves out soon - I just have to keep an eye on them!

Hope everyone's had a good weekend xx

babypringle · 21/12/2008 20:31

thanks for the info about the maternity grant thingie brettgirl ... but it starts from 6th April and my due date is the 4th. Do you think I would be able to convince the midwife to move my due date back 2 days so I can claim ??

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 20:36

babypringle, I'd say it's worth a go - especially if you can argue your LMP dates against the dating scan? Even if it means telling a bit of a fib.

babypringle · 21/12/2008 20:40

think i will try - the midwife dated me as the 7th, then it changed at the scan to the 4th. But I've already handed in my MATB form saying the 4th . But £190 would be pretty useful for shoes healthy food

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 20:58

Evening

oooh thanks Brettgirl, v handy to know

tristaleejac - really pleased you and dp have sorted things and can relax into your pregnacy more

Snowy - i am soooo drooling at your baking! double chocolate muffins yum yum

didn't get to sleep until 3am grr, he has been a love today though and he sorted out a taxi for us all to go to mothercare and get a travel system (lovely red three wheel thingy, footmuff & raincover included a snip at £170!! v pleased) and moses basket (they have a sale on at the mo yay) bless him he was carrying dd and virtually carrying me too lol bless. No more venturing outdoors for me methinks.

Had a phonecall today from my brother and he and SIL are coming down between crimbo and new year to see us so that was a really lovely suprise i cant wait

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 21:03

Ooh, exciting! We bought a travel system yesterday. DP had to carry it back from town by himself in its awfully bulky box, on the tram & everything. Then up the two flights of stairs to our flat (I'll never carry it up - I'll be leaving it downstairs & bringing the baby up without it, leaving him to do it). His arms nearly fell off, bless him.

This is ours:

www.silvercross.co.uk/3D_Pram_System.php

I didn't get it in the colour that I wanted (ours is just completely plain black) but we got a really good price on it. We're not going to touch it until the January sales, so we can check that there's no better offer & take it back if necessary.

Which one did you get, Nutty?

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 21:03

Whoops.

Pram link!

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 21:11

ooooohhhh v nice Snowy lemme have a looksee i dont think its on their website ......

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 21:14

this pram

and this moses basket

babypringle · 21/12/2008 21:16

ooh I like it Snowy ... a friend at work bought one for his baby and really rates it.
I'm still trying to convince DH that the (still in good condition) travel system that we had for DS is no good and that I really need a shiny new one. But I've found a pram that I think will fit perfectly in the boot of my Beetle, unlike the old one where I had to take the wheels off to squeeze it in ...

SantasNuttySTaff · 21/12/2008 21:17

the inserts are really soft and fleecy and red is cool just incase it is a suprise boy (am woried after electras nhs scan being wrong)

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 21:18

Ooh, the pram's pretty! I love the colour - & a total bargain, too! & oh, the lovely giraffe moses basket. Ooh & toys to play with above! Lovely. Things like this make me really excited - I still can't believe that we'll have babies to put in this stuff

babypringle · 21/12/2008 21:19

Like them both Nutty ... there's some good deals around at the moment . I'm hoping to get a new cot and mattress in the jan sales - DS is still in the cotbed. And the pram if I can convince DH ...

SnowySunshine · 21/12/2008 21:19

I know - I'm really worried that the scan was wrong. I'm so ready for a boy now that if I get a girl it will take me ages to get used to the idea & detract from the new baby excitement...
