Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

hold on a cotton-picking moment...this is getting all steamy

I married my teacher someone who worked at my school, so I can't talk!

and I only got away with it becaise head of sixth form was bunking up with my best friend at the time!

more scandal please boffin!

SpringySunshine · 30/12/2008 19:58

There was none of that sort of scandal at my school! I feel I've missed out

BoffinMum · 30/12/2008 20:36

Scandal??

Like the very religious college organist who shagged a member of the college choir and got her pg out of wedlock, much to the confusion of the rest of the college??

Like the research associate who got her contracts, shall we say, the old fashioned way??

Like the professor who lied embellished the truth on his/her application for a chair by pretending he/she had had a visiting professorship at an Ivy League institution, when in truth he/she had pestered them to let him/her give one (poorly attended) talk at his/her own expense and also have permission to use the library for a fortnight?? But nobody dared pull him/her up on it because his/her DW/DH is an Important Person and too important to get on the wrong side of??

Like the college who allowed a contractor to put in a chit for £15,000 for 'repairs' even though they had never done the work, because it was too much bother to cancel the invoice compared to the ease of actually paying it??

Like the college fellows who surf the internet all day at the taxpayers' expense, and haven't produced any research in two decades??

Like the librarian who was found secretly living in the basement of the college library because he was an alcoholic and had drunk his home away?

Like the acommodation officer who went round routinely evicting pg students from their college accommodation as a matter of principle??

Like the researcher who was able to tyrannise female members of staff and fondle himself in front of them in 1:1 meetings he made them attend behind closed doors, but who was never thrown out despite the tribunal findings, whereas the women ended up leaving out of frustration??

Not that I know where any bodies are buried, of course ....

BoffinMum · 30/12/2008 20:37

lied

can't cross out

OddEyes · 30/12/2008 20:39

Will catch up on posts later...
...just thought I would share a voucher code for mothercare that just saved us £50 AF8 at the checkout will get you an extra 10% of your shopping if value over £120, runs out tonight or tomorrow night can't remember, worked though. Also there was another one we found for 10% offover £100, but didn't use -LC7.

Also I rememeber a few ladies saying they were going to get a phil and teds - mothercare currently end up being the cheapest as they have 21% off + you extra 10%. Note though is the 2008 model with none of the new improved features of the 2009 model. We got next day delivery and came today is great

Now to catch up...see you on page 30 in an hour or so!

SpringySunshine · 30/12/2008 20:43

indeed!

How do you know about all of these things?!

chrismathsmummy25th · 30/12/2008 21:37

and may I add my too!

you sound like a great person to trust with secrets...

BoffinMum · 30/12/2008 22:51

This is all actually out there in the public sector (if you know where to look ...)

I have little time for bigots, cheats, mysogynists and liars, as you might have noticed.

BabyBolat · 31/12/2008 11:45

Wow look at the scandal Boffin Mum! I wish I was your friend in real life as I LOVE Gossip!!

Am having one of those weird days today - feeling really restless for absolutely not reason whatsover! Have cleaned the house, made up the dresser for the nursery, put all the baby stuff away, taken all the Christmas decorations down, done three loads of washing have organised all the spare room crap for DH to go up in the loft when he is home - the only thing left to do is hoover but I can't do that until DH is home and has taken the Christmas tree back out to the garden for planting! any ideas what I can do next??

Hope everyone is having a good last day of 2008!

BoffinMum · 31/12/2008 11:49

Ah but Bolat if you were my friend in real life I would never tell you any of this!! Because you might work out who I was talking about!! This is the joy of MN.

Anyone else feeling sick? I initially didn't feel sick after the first trimester but I feel pretty awful again now. Is this normal, do we think?

BB, such energy, can you come over to mine and get things ready for DS1's party tomorrow, because we are having 20 people over for brunch and I only have to think about croissants and I gag.

BabyBolat · 31/12/2008 12:07

Ah you would Boffin because I am a great secret keeper - I just am very nosey so love to find things out!!!

Don't tempt me - I would be there like a shot if you were close to me!!

I feel sick if I don't eat enough, first thing in the morning and last thing at night - mainly related to heart burn and indigestion also but not nauseous like before and definitely controllable by eating!

AuldAlliance · 31/12/2008 12:08

Hi everyone,
Just passing by as usual; have returned from Scotland to France and we are just off to the Alps for the night (DH has one and a half days off, so we're trecking miles to meet up with a mate of his here.
Happy Hogmanay everyone, hope to catch up with all the news in 2009. It's going to be a big year for us all!
Love
AA

BabyBolat · 31/12/2008 12:18

Nutty have just had yummy buttery toast and tea and it was ace! My friend is coming round to keep me occupied (thank God) Have you been having a lovely time with your brother? Is he staying with you for NY?

Nutty I have to say I think it's all these other naughty ones that influence you....

SpringySunshine · 31/12/2008 12:55

Perhaps not the only naughty one then, Nutty

Thanks for the voucher code, OddEyes. I couldn't use it because MIL is taking us Mothercare shopping on Friday. That sounds like it should be fun, but we'll see

BB, where do you get the energy from? Madness! Make sure you put your feet up for a bit!

AA, I am so ! If only it wasn't too late to hide in your luggage!

How have you been Nutty? Have fun with your family?

I'm just rushing through at the moment - about to go to the ILs for New Year It is only fair, as DP's not seen his family since a couple of weeks before Christmas, but you can feel my excitement from there, I'm sure He's wrapping their Christmas presents at the moment (not the most organised, bless him) & at first glance I was really impressed & felt bad for doubting his wrapping abilities. But now I'm looking closer... At least I've not had to do it

Hope everyone's okay. Happy New Year! 2009 is going to be a big one! Yay babies! xxx

BabyBolat · 31/12/2008 13:02

Happy New Year Springy! Have a good one - sure once you are there it will be better than you expect!!!

Well ladies, the sickness has subsided, and I have just eaten a fun sized Twix and some bacon.

But the best news is ... my SPD seems to have temporarily vanished!!!! I am serious!!!! I just feel very pg at the moment but out of pain for the first time since November 8th. It is a very strange feeling indeed to feel normal.

I think my hormones have shifted somehow, because I no longer smell vaguely of wee and cheese, I have been feeling sick again, and I feel like I have got my own body back. Hard to describe.

OddEyes · 31/12/2008 14:27
