New thread here (I hope!!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

They're not properly leaky yet - I've not woken up with a wet top or anything. But I can definitely squeeze quite a lot out of the right boob & as I say, the left is catching up. But I'm looking at the strange liquid & thinking 'poor kid' for having to drink it

I bet it'll all dry up by the time I actually need it I know it doesn't actually work like that, but I'm practically the queen of Sod's law

SantasNuttySTaff · 27/12/2008 21:03

lol wait till your dp askes if he can try some have a camera handy for when he does

SnowySunshine · 27/12/2008 21:14

I'm not sure that he will - I told him about my leaky right boob & he was less than impressed & just said that he was glad that I'd told him to save any embarrassment

I, on the other hand, am a bit curious

SantasNuttySTaff · 27/12/2008 21:18

i bet the curiosity will hit him at some stage lol

i was too ...though i will not be testing my own wares this time round ..... tis one of those things you only do once lol

SnowySunshine · 27/12/2008 21:28

That good, eh? I think I'm going to ignore the urge for as long as possible - it looks awful

SantasNuttySTaff · 27/12/2008 21:39

its unique thats for sure it looks as nice as it tastes and vice versa lol

SantasNuttySTaff · 27/12/2008 21:45

i so have to get to a dentist (going to get an appointment on monday if i can) i think pregnancy has messed up my teeth (am v good with brushing etc) but i have bright white crescents (only started appearing recently)on the bottom/base of my teeth by my gums and one of the crescents has chipped off and the underneath looks very raw

anyone have any experience of this/ know what it could be? am a bit terrified of gum desiese and other nasties

SnowySunshine · 27/12/2008 21:48

Sounds fantastic

& as for the teeth, I'm not sure. But I need to go to the dentist soon really - I haven't been for ages & have a massive phobia of bad teeth.

Does it hurt?

SantasNuttySTaff · 27/12/2008 21:52

the chipped one does when i eat, drink or touch the raw looking bit the rest seem fine but i'm really scared they are all going to chip like it

SnowySunshine · 27/12/2008 21:55

I'm sure you'll be okay if you get an emergency appointment on Monday. It's probably just some chipped enamel or whatever. I wouldn't put it off, though. Pregnancy really is just so glamorous, isn't it?

SantasNuttySTaff · 27/12/2008 22:01

just gets better and better lol hairy, lumpen, sweaty, mild incontinence and now teeth going bad (thank god for free dentistry during pregnancy)

SnowySunshine · 27/12/2008 22:04

I know! But speaking of which, I've lost the form for the card for free prescriptions & stuff. Do you think I'll get really told off if I ask for another one now?

SantasNuttySTaff · 27/12/2008 22:08

No not at all just ask your midwife to order you a replacement card they should be able to sort it out for you.

SnowySunshine · 27/12/2008 22:09

Now to actually get hold of my midwife

SantasNuttySTaff · 27/12/2008 22:18

hmmm i know what you mean i was trying to get hold of mine pre christmas and got a voicemail message that they were out of surgery until tuesday 23rd (which was the day i was calling!!) also tried to get hold of the doctor who was dealing with my back but could only get a telephone appointment with a completely different doctor (which was ok as i needed the doctors note & prescription) but i really wanted to discuss birth and stuff (lady at the scan said that i really had to sort out c-sect due to back) which i dont want to do really, so yet again i am left dangling until my next MW appointment in january unless i can somehow get hold of my elusive doctor/ mw

tis a farce really, they say feel free to contact us whenever but when you do they're never there

frostyfrekkles · 28/12/2008 08:42

hey hey lasses. sympathise on the midwife front, mine are rubbish. seem as eager as possible not to see me. I rang them yesterday as i was worried because i had a leak of fluid in the morning that definately wasn't urine in my opinion, and they said "oooh just pop a sanitary pad on and if it's still happening in 3 or 4 ays them ring us back". I rang my sister in law who is a midwife for a second opinion and she said that if I'd rang her she would advised me to come straight in for an examination. If it happens again I'm going to A&E.

But I had a lovely christmas, twas just me and my bloke and a big old fire and got spoilt. Best memory, being shagged against the aga whilst we cooked christmas dinner together. Hope yous all had lovely days xx

frostyfrekkles · 28/12/2008 08:47

oh and just read about your contraband food crimes, and I'll admit to being a bit boffin on this one. I refuse to be made to feel scared , so if i fancy something I'll make sure it's fresh and i know it's origin, and make a common sense judgement call. (or get bloke to eat it first).

VirginBoffinMum · 28/12/2008 08:54

Rachel, we have all got dust allergies and so on at chez Boffin. I may have some answers for you - local NHS allergy clinic taught us how to do it and it seems to have made a big difference.

It's all to do with developing an anti-dust and anti-mould regime. See it as an ongoing war. First up, as far as weaponry is concerned, you need to get a hoover with a HEPA filter if you haven't got one, because that doesn't recirculate the bastard dust back into the air as you clean (which sounds like what is going on at yours). You also need to hoover strategically under the beds and hoover your mattresses at least once a month as an absolute minimum, but preferably once a week. Another weapon in your arsenal is to wash bedding at 60C once a week to kill the dustmites, aka dust footsoldiers, and use anti-dustmite mattress and pillow covers (you probably don't need any other special merchandise). To continue the attack, you also need to open all the windows in a room for an hour after cleaning it to let the place air. Regarding mould, this time of year is terrible because of condensation on the window frames in the mornings, so airing for a couple of hours every morning and wiping the windows down with a dilute solution of bleach once a week will stop things getting too bad. I even have a steam cleaner to do them particularly thoroughly 2 or 3 times a year, but this is a refinement because my mum bought me the gadget. The steam cleaner is the nuclear warhead of housewifing.

If you do all this I would be heartily surprised if your asthma didn't improve rapidly.

If you fancy a holiday from your asthma, choose an Alpine holiday at a resort higher than 500m, because nasty evil dustmites do not exist at these altitudes. There are an enormous amount of seriously family friendly hotels in the Alps.

Frekkles, I am glad there is a fellow contraband person with us.

BabyCRIMBOlat · 28/12/2008 08:55

Oooh frekkles sounds like you had a lovely day but what a nightmare about the midwives! They all have such different opinions on things - was reading the due december 08 thread yesterday and the difference in their birth stories because of midwives is just unbelievable!

I still don't really have a midwife as I am kind of between two areas but think will chat through a few things at my 28 week appointment next week.

I am just watching this portland babies programme on the TV and I think the birthing stories should make me scared but instead I am wetting myself at the weird noises!

BabyCRIMBOlat · 28/12/2008 08:58

Wow VBM - i thought I was good yesterday for running my dyson round the house!!

OP posts:
VirginBoffinMum · 28/12/2008 09:05

Yes but chez Bolat probably isn't suffering from dust-related health woes.

It only take us an hour a week extra to keep levels of dustmite down and the dividends for us as a family are enormous.

VirginBoffinMum · 28/12/2008 09:07

Plus it's the thought of millions of these little buggers everywhere that is surprisingly motivating.

BabyCRIMBOlat · 28/12/2008 09:28

Right - Well I am off to hoover my mattresses!

VirginBoffinMum · 28/12/2008 11:44

That picture concentrates the mind a bit, doesn't it!

On a different note, do we think m/w everywhere are getting more vaguely uninterested and minorly neglectful about ante natal care, or was it ever thus?
