Hello lovely ladies, the new thread is open for business

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Am wondering how it is that I came to be owned by Swampster. [looks for dodgy white slave trade market]

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 16/12/2008 15:43

I paid good money for you!

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 16/12/2008 15:48

I've found BumGenius to be more bombproof than Itti Bittis - and if you forget to change an Itti Bitti [fbad mummy] you wind up sodden very quickly.

dinkystinkyclaus · 16/12/2008 16:16

Hmm, given Calico's DH forgot to change DS the other weekend, think Calico may have to keep him under close supervision with the cloth nappies and DC2. Know I could never trust my DH to remember to change nappies on time and we'd have wet patches galore...

littleboyblue · 16/12/2008 16:29

Wow. No one done any work today?
I've decided not to leave the house again until this one is born (apart from taking ds for a run in the park, listen to me like he's a dog! ) I'm just in far too much pain. Popped out today and spent the whole time in tears so dp has been told he needs to do all the shopping etc.

There is alot of info here about nappies!

Hope everyone is ok.

CalicoisCrackers · 16/12/2008 16:32

Indeed......and if DC2 has the runny bottom that DS constantly has it may not be a happy experiment! I don't think I'd trust DH not to throw away the cloth nappy either - can't see him rinsing excess poo off the liner and then sticking it all in a bucket, he'd probably 'forget' and bin the lot! Might try a few in the summer months when the drying issue is less of a problem.

CalicoisCrackers · 16/12/2008 16:34

That reminds me LBB - I have a ton of work to do and have to pick up DS in an hour....... must get on with it

MrsChristmasY · 16/12/2008 16:37

Calico - you had fluffles didn't you? They dry so quickly...

dinkystinkyclaus · 16/12/2008 16:51

Oh LBB, that's awful. Do you have a support belt to help support your back and pelvis?

MamaStuffedGoose · 16/12/2008 16:53

jamon or bacalao croquetas?

Great guide to reusables Swampster! Now I just need to work out which will post overseas...The only ones I've seen here are ImseVimse - did you say that you didn't like them?

littleboyblue · 16/12/2008 16:55

Hey dinky, yes I bought a support belt from mothercare, but it doesn't work! Nevermind, will all be over soon.
I had lots and lots of pain with ds but not this bad, but didn't have him to look after etc.
Defnately won't be making the January meet up, unless I've had this one, but not likely!!

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 16/12/2008 17:05

I only had the Imse Vimse ones that don't have built in fastenings and I didn't like nippas - Imse Vimse didn't even seem to be chunky enough for the nippas to grip. Loads of people swear by nippas - snugger fit etc...

Sized BumGenius are pretty idiot partner and in-law proof I think.

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 16/12/2008 17:06

Of course that was meant to say idiot partner and in-law proof !

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 16/12/2008 17:12

Have you tried sitting on one of those birthing balls LBB? I found just sitting on mine really eased all pains when I was pregnant before - need to blow it up again finally as everything is getting pretty uncomfortable and last night when I lifted my foot an inch to step out of my jeans, I felt as though I split myself in half with shooting pains which hadn't really eased off by the morning.

CalicoisCrackers · 16/12/2008 17:14

Yes MrsY - I had fluffles (sounds like an affliction doesn't it!) but managed to get through so many in a day that I had to have them drying on the radiators in the bathroom and lounge and DH made me stop as he couldn't face living in a laundry!

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 16/12/2008 17:15

Oh, and make my croquetas jamon ones please!

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 16/12/2008 17:16

I always think Tots Bots nappies hung up to dry look like so many little rabbit skins.

MrsChristmasY · 16/12/2008 18:15

I'll have - bacaloa croquetes, gambas garbadina and bojeronas for me please, oh, and maybe some berenjenas gratinadas! YUM!

snoweejaykay · 16/12/2008 18:23

I've been lurking, sorry! Everything is going super smoothly with me at the moment and I'm just soaking up everyone elses advice. And my Christmas name is rubbish, I'm going to try and find another...

Hope everyone is OK, big sympathy to Rosie and Catstar and Dinky and everyone else who has been lurgi-fied. I'm still so far from being ready for Christmas that it's actually now funny, and I am amazed at how you lot with kids manage. I am waiting for my inner domestic goddess to stop effing about somewhere else and manifest herself! Dinky and Chilled - can I join you as I am convinced I am not going to pop until about mid-March. Good news though is that my midwife is a total home birth champion and likes to avoid induction wherever possible, phew.

Back to lurking for now, will be in touch more soon!

littleboyblue · 16/12/2008 18:30

No, haven't tried a birthing ball swampy, will buy one tomoz (or rather get dp to) if you think it'll help. Anything's worth a try atm. Is a cheap exercise ball basically the same thing? You know, the cheapo £6 Argos ones?

I told my mum earlier I wouldn't be over tomorrow as planned and would go over xmas when dp drives me and that I planned to not leave the house much blah blah blah, and she laughed at me! The mean old cow bag

MrsChristmasY · 16/12/2008 19:00

lbb yup - get the £6 Argos one. 'Tis exactly the same thing...

littleboyblue · 16/12/2008 19:16

Will do.

snoweejaykay · 16/12/2008 19:25

I think there is one problem with the £6 Argos one - it doesn't come with a pump. Fine if you've got a bicycle pump, pesky if not... Could be wrong but check!

littleboyblue · 16/12/2008 19:27

Ok. We don't have any kind of pump..... Will look in the catalogue in a bit.
Thanx

MamaStuffedGoose · 16/12/2008 19:48

Sending the tapas over......[lobs over virtual tapas and a nice bottle of cava to go with it]

The postage might be hell so I might try ImseVimse then try the others when we're in the UK in July if they've turned out to be rubbish.
