Hello lovely ladies, the new thread is open for business

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 11/12/2008 19:23

Been working from home today - usual hours are 10am to 6pm. Today I started before 9am, took a tiny bit of time out to read to DS2 and to eat and to stalk surf a teeeny bit. Only JUST finished at 7.20pm. Shurly shome mishtake?

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 11/12/2008 19:24

If anyone touches my belly uninvited again I will stick a pitchfork in theirs.

MarkTheHeraldAngelsStretch · 11/12/2008 21:16
SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 11/12/2008 21:32

That would be my pitchfork that got you good then. Serves you right!

mistletoeandlucy · 11/12/2008 21:37

hello everyone.
sitting here on sofa emailing weird people in America for weird programme thing I am working on.

Want to go to bed but need to keep scary boss person off my back.

I had my last day with my naughty students today and they were very kind and got me flowers and a card.

But they couldn't leave my belly alone (neither could the group in the morning).

I have become some sort of walking (or should that be waddling) exhibit.

I haven't quite got to the stage where total strangers approach me in the street and ask me if it's twins (as they did last time) but I feel those days are rapidly drawing near.

At least ds has shaken off his lurgy (there is a lot of it about) though dh has full blown man flu.

Hope you are all ok and avoiding bugs, stress and too many aches and pains.

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 11/12/2008 21:50

Evening all

Hope everyne's fine and dandy.

Feeling a bit festive here though still haven't actually bought any presents... Have spent day spring cleaning living room in honour of tomorrow's delivery of 10 foot high Christmas tree. Pressed Godless Daughter into service this afternoon handmaking 16 christmas cards for the children in DS's nursery class and will pass them off as mine & DS's creations. Every mother ought to have a 12 year old girl to hand at this time of the year!

Is anyone else finding cramp is getting worse? Woke up the other night with it in my knee cap and today got it in my hands whilst using scissors. Lovely.

Can't remember who it was that took their DS to Selfridge to see FC. We're going on Saturday. Will it be good?

PinkPoinsettias · 11/12/2008 22:23

THOM>.. my hands regularly cramp up now when i'm doing... welll anything at all really and i can't stretch out my legs as they invariably spasm up with cramps.

omg....... i'm getting really worried about what position kung fu panda has adopted as there seem to be elbows and knees poking in every direction and the bump seems to bulge oddly to one side he'd better not have done anything daft in there

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 11/12/2008 23:05

I was going to post about my aches and pains too, seems I'm not the only one feeling it. Forget the virus, I feel rough as it is without it. I just stupidly sat with my leg turned out, then tried to straighten it and realised I'd put too much pressure on my pelvis - this is my "good" leg too Getting a lot of cramp in my legs and feet in bed.

My nose is sore from the constant running/wiping, my lips are dry and my mouth is dry from breathing through it. I have set the thermostat at 22 and wrapped in a quilt, TBD is not going to be happy when he comes in! Not because of money, but he gets too hot.

I want to find a nice corner to curl up in and wait for the baby to be born!

The only person sticking their finger at my belly is Tink who thinks the baby is in my belly button! She decided at my meeting yesterday she would tell everyone about the baby (top up, jersey panel down)! This is in front of the chair, a managing director, a visiting inspector...

littlesez · 12/12/2008 00:39

KT Is teaching your full time job? I teach dance and cheerleading i keep getting told it will help with labour and getting back into shape will be easier? Would be nice! what other classes do you teach?

I havent really had people i dont want touching my belly, all my kids at work do it but i dont mind, very cute they come and cuddle me and rub bump and speak to babs.

Cant sleep got that under rib pain cant breathe properly doing my head in, boo hoo.

everything else good x

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 12/12/2008 00:54

littlesez, is baby breech? I had that problem with Tink, I couldn't do anything because of her head in my ribs, I found ice on her head was the only way to get any sleep.

littleboyblue · 12/12/2008 07:46

PinkP I had the bump touching last time, annoying isn't it? Not had it at all this time, but I'm not working so don't see as many people. I have heard it's lucky to touch a pregnant bump....

MS Hope you're feeling better today, damn that xmas shopping, I'm doing ours today....

Haven't got the full lurgy, just really sore throat, but I can handle that, so not too bad.

Did anyone see the Growing Babies part 2 last night? About brain development in the early stages after birth? Very interesting.

Told all my family, I cannot umm and arr around shops picking pressies so if they didn't tll me what they wanted, they aren't going to get anything, so hopefully won't take me longer than an hour!!

Hope you all have good day

CalicoisCrackers · 12/12/2008 08:56

Yes -the Growing Babies programme was fascinating - though not sure that they really explained how newborn babies can count.....! Maybe it's just one boob, two boobs!

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 12/12/2008 09:04

Morning!

Oh god i had a 'nesting' moment yesterday so decided to drive to Bristol Ikea and buy a new bed ( one that i can get off more easily than our present one after the cs ) and i bought loads more than i intended too as usual (new bedding to go with the bed candles, ect ect) anyway i got back after three hours and took it upon myself, god knows why to dismantle the old bed and put up the new one ( and the bedside table )which of course took three hours or more and thereby ensued a proper under the bed cleanup job anyway i am knackered today (but have lovely bedroom ) but nesting costs far too much money ive decided (apart from new dining table ive got my eye on ) and everything aches this morning! Have to say DH did look suitably impressed if not a little surprised but he says this kind of nesting is definately better than pebble dashing the house!

dinkystinkyclaus · 12/12/2008 09:15

Morning all. Markstretch - hope you're mobile now - stop overdoing it Missus! TBM - slather your nose and lips in vaseline young lady (what I do when I get colds as I get through 2 boxes of tissue a day!) and mainline water as if its going out of fashion - should help get rid of any dehydration type headaches heading in your direction. Also lemon or orange in hot water with honey (or sugar) will keep your energy up if you're off food.

Swampy - whenever I work from home I always work for longer than at work (as there is no cut off time if you see what I mean). The best thing about commuting to work is the firm going home time!

Chilled - oh no, hope your DS is going to be ok soon; know what you feel about the guilt re missing work though. Still, cant be helped so enjoy the sofa with DS today.

MsNorty - I went to selfridges with DS. The train ride is in the semidark (DS is unfortunately going through a bit of fear of the dark stage) and quite noisy so he wasnt too sure about that bit (odd as if was in the light he'd have loved it) but Santa was very nice with him and he got given a nice book by Santa so was very happy. They let you out via the toy concession so he spent a happy 30 minutes running around there with the other kids playing with all the toys they had out on display, so yes, was worth it for the price. Hope you enjoy it.

Am shattered and utterly fed up today. I put an urgent report into typing last night (for first thing this morning) only to find out that our shite IT systems at work mean the document corrupted at 3 in the morning and so am going to have to spend all day sorting the bloody thing out (instead of sending out to the client who is hopping up and down for it) and probably half the weekend too (which am not paid to work over as took a massive pay cut to not have to work evenings and weekends when came back from mat leave last time). Shattered for a good reason though - my sister and her boyfriend took us out to the "Twisted Christmas" gig at the Barbican last night which was excellent (and we had fab seats right in front of the stage). Had lots of great music, comedians and bands (including Jarvis Cocker doing his new song "Slush") and was excellent - but meant didnt get home till after 12.30 and asleep until after 1 (and due to lurgy not sleeping well anyway) - really didnt need crap at work to deal with this morning. Ho hum. Things can only go up and all that...

KT1983 · 12/12/2008 09:18

Hiya LittleSez - Yeah, I do it full time, I really enjoy it. And glad that its flexible, so that once ive had the baby I can teach on an evening when DP gets home from work. Keeps me fit & will give me a break from the baby/house etc...

Well...I say all this...This is our plan

I teach everything really, Combat, RPM, Aerobics, Step, Spinning, LBT. Also teach a class called Urban Funk which is Hiphop type dance ( alhtough im not that great at it )
Also been looking at setting up a BuggyFit type class in my local area - so I can take baby with me

Id love to do Cheerleading!! That must be so much fun - Its becoming more popular over here now isnt it?

As for Bump Touching - No one but DP is allowed near mine - I dont like people touching my tummy at the best of times - I wouldnt even let my mum have a feel. I think if a stranger did, Id probably be inclined to throw a punch

KT1983 · 12/12/2008 09:24

Blimey Rosie - You did well with all that furniture - Ikea furniture is not the easiest to build - I throw a tantrum everytime ive attempted it....I have no patience

dinkystinkyclaus · 12/12/2008 09:33

Rosie - missed your post. Well done on your nesting - sounds like you're totally nested out now (or is that spent out?)

Baby loved the music last night and spent 4 hours dancing in my belly - DH had his hand on my bump the whole evening to feel it (he is also, along with DS, the only ones allowed to touch the bump without evil stares being given).

KT - the buggyfit class sounds a great idea; I did some after I had DS and loved them.

dinkystinkyclaus · 12/12/2008 09:48

Good grief - some of the Jan thread are already having their babies! How real does that make it feel

KT1983 · 12/12/2008 09:52

OMG Dinky - Really?? That is scary - Im nearly 32 weeks due 9th Feb, thats ages away....Isnt it?!

dinkystinkyclaus · 12/12/2008 10:02

Sounds like ages away to me KT but babies can appear at any time (as TBM and Rachrox will tell you).

Am telling this one to stay put until end of January as dont finish work till then...

KT1983 · 12/12/2008 10:10

Ive always imagined that il go well overdue, as everyone keeps telling me that your first is almost always late.

As long as she stays where she is until Ive moved house in January, I dont mind.

mulledwinemakesmummyfestive · 12/12/2008 10:19

Wow, hope all is well with the Jan ladies and their early arrivals.

Quite frankly, I'd be pleased if this lo decides to make a slightly early appearance. Anytime from that start of Jan will do me fine. However, seeing as ds was T+ and this one is showing no signs of even thinking about coming out (too early yet tbh), I am not holding out much hope of an early debut.

MarkTheHeraldAngelsStretch · 12/12/2008 10:22

I have just eaten 4 squares of Bournville, a Twirl from DD's selection box, and 4 chocolate coins.

KT1983 · 12/12/2008 10:34

mmmm...Chocolate Coins

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 12/12/2008 11:00

KT i think that it shouldnt have taken more than an hour to build - you just need to add an extra two for tantrums lol but i was determind to get it done and it does look very pretty. Dinky that gig sounds fab you lucky thing - DH keeps nagging me to go with him to some gigs and i keep thinking oh god i cant im too pregnant and crap but maybe it will do me good Sorry to hear about your rubbish workload and really hope you dont have to do any of it over the weekend ... how long is it till maternity leave now?

Lo turned into a really funny position yesterday so that it was all hard at the top of my bump under my boobs and i looked feckin' MASSIVE!!! someone asked me in Ikea if it was twins ffs but seems to be less big today. No one has touched my bump luckily apart from my DD's and DH maybe i have a feirce dont-touch-my-bump-face about me or something but ive been quite lucky so far.

MS you will feel loads better with some more cocoa inside you and obviously the only way to get over feeling lergyish is to each as much choc as possible I think a visit to Thorntons is in order as have run out of diabetic choccy and toffee.

Im off to Ikea again in a min (ocding on the nesting but feeling like i MUST get everything done before Januray!) to buy table and chairs - i might even assemble them y'know too ... depends how much charge the black and decker that i nicked off DH has I agree its really scary that Jan ladies have started already - i read the first one the other day and i shat myself ... well not literally but i really really hope that lo stays put for a while longer - have got everything now though so no excuses - this time hopefully in 8 weeks exactly i shall be a mummy again - like i said, excited but scared!
