Jael · 03/12/2008 11:12

Morning ladies.

Went to bed early last night, and still had the pains. It feels like every so often someone is stabbing my pubic bone with a knife, it's horrendous. Off to hospital to see consultant at 3pm. I'm so frightened. I keep thinking she's going to tell me that it's not SPD and that it's something worse, or something's wrong with the baby. I just want to enjoy my pregnancy. I'm 18 weeks today, and I'm basically confined to the house, apart from weekends when DP is off, where we might venture off somewhere for a little while. I can't manage to even walk around the supermarket. I'm just in too much pain. I can't carry on like this, I'm at my wits end. DD told me she didn't like the baby yesterday because it's making Mommy poorly...what am I supposed to say to that! I
can't play with her much, I'm relying on DP to do everything, even sort her lunch out before he goes to work, and all I can do is sit down all day and watch c beebies with her, I feel like such a crap Mom, sorry for long post.

Jael X

Momino · 03/12/2008 11:32

oh, Jael, big hug to you. You sound really down. Try to stay calm until you see the consultant today - am sure it's nothing wrong with baby but the consultant will have an explanation and hopefully help for you.

about DD: enjoy cbeebies whilst you can or books or drawing. and you have an excuse - i've sat for hours in front of the telly with dd1 and have no excuse but 'can't be bothered with the housework now'.

i think it's normal for the siblings to feel this way but it's also normal for parents to feel guilty. please try not to feel that it's a reflection on you. give yourself a break, you're a good mom and have lots to think about now. so do try to rest your aches and best wishes for the appt this afternoon.

SpangleMaker · 03/12/2008 13:26

frazzled hope you are ok today and taking it easy

jael good luck with your consultant appointment

Jael best of luck with the consultant. I'm sure it is SPD, I had it last time and (touch wood seem to be OK this time.

I went to see the diabetes nurse today to be shown how to inject myself with insulin. I feel quite miserable about it all, like I should have been able to avoid it somehow. Had a great chat with the diabetes midwife though, who really reassured me. I have another appointment with my consultant on Friday, it is costing me a fortune in hospital parking fees!

daizydoo · 03/12/2008 16:06

llareggub sorry to hear that you've had to go on insulin. Hope you get the hang of it soon and it stablises you blood sugars.

Jael hope all goes well with the consultant today.

Whoever was struggling to put eyedrops in their lo - I've just followed advice and put them in a sleeping ds. I wouldn't call it a total success, but heck of alot better than when he's awake!! He did wake up, but went straight back to sleep again. I'll see if it works again tonight!

runningmonkey · 03/12/2008 16:42

Hi ladies,
Have not been around as have been having a rough time and couldn't face going into it. Am sorry to hear you are having a rough time jael and llareggub I am concerned about diabetes too as it runs in my family. Are you going to be on insulin forever or just the pregnancy?
Hope everyone else is ok am off to read all the stuff I've missed.

llareggub · 03/12/2008 16:45

It's likely that it will go away after pregnancy but in some people it stays. The nurse told me today she thought mine would stay because I had it so early but I'm trying not to dwell on that and I really, really, really don't want to google...

Momino · 03/12/2008 17:06

don't google, llareggub. don't do it.

runningmonkey · 03/12/2008 18:53

Make sure you follow all the advice you are given my aunt has had it since 16 and manages v well. You'd hardly notice apart from the fact she gets really crabby if she doesn't eat on time! But I think we all do that

Oh yeah and don't google

(still catching up!)

divedaisy · 03/12/2008 19:07

Jael, I'm so sorry to hear you are in such pain. I honestly believe you've SPD. It and sciatica can be caused by the same thing - all the ligaments loosen during pregnancy (due to the hormone relaxin) - and you can get front, back and down the leg pain! If you're up to it tonight I (and I'm sure everyone else here) would love to know how you are and what's being done for you. When it's really bad all you can do is take whatever painkillers you're given, wear your belt for support, and REST!

I can't believe you are all thinking about names already!!! My son is going to call baby bump Cedric Cecil Marmaduke - they are a few of the daft names DH came up with for him - he used to wind me up about his choices of names!!

Ohhhh! My 'DH' bought me a pressie which arrived in the post today. 'Oh Lovely', 'I wish I had a DH like yours' etc i hear you all say. But hold on until I tell you what was in the suprise package......

an inflatable anal plug
a 'hopin rabbit'
a tongue teaser
and a free keyring !!!

What on earth does he think I am! My eyes watered at the plug thing (even unflated it's huge!!) Now I'm no prude, but come on I'm nearly 18 weeks preg! An ordinary orgasm is enough for me to cope with at the moment!!! Never mind the multiple ones promised on these boxes!!!

Hope I haven't put anyone off their dinner!! Sorry...! x

runningmonkey - glad to see you back. Hope youre ok.xx

detsy · 03/12/2008 19:34

Dive daisy oh how that made me laugh That is so funny. I guess he is chancing it as, if he is anything like my DP he feels really hard done to due to lack of adult activity! Maybe you could use the anal inflatable as some alternative form of kegel exercise programme...

Still I think I'd be so amazed any any impromptu present that I'd still be pleased!

Bit worried about frazz hope she is ok - prob just putting kids to bed etc.

DD eyes are no better - really cross with myself as got a dr appt this morning and thought they had cleared up so cancelled it and sent her off to nursery. When i picked her up she was completely gunked up and upset. Felt so guilty. So will def be going back tomo (might just move into GPs think it would be so much easier...)

Jael hope your appt went well and your mind has been put at ease?

detsy · 03/12/2008 19:46

Is everyone watching Cori?! I have a ton of work to do which won't get done tomo with DD in tow so I need to be strict and do it now I spose... so cannot be bothered but I know come Tuesday when I'm running a workshop all day, I'll wish I had!

runningmonkey · 03/12/2008 19:46

Thanks divedaisy you have made me laugh so much. I had to explain to dh what I was laughing about. He said it's given him ideas about Xmas pressies ooh er!

I am fine really just been battling a cold, having a crap time in work and loads of stress at home as we're trying to sell our house. Also have been having stilly hormonal moments about being totally unexcited about pregnancy - although really I am. All got on top of me so I hibernates for a few days. I feel much better now.

runningmonkey · 03/12/2008 19:47

Sorry about typos surfing from new phone!

divedaisy · 03/12/2008 19:57

Glad you're all laughing!!! It'll be me with the (permanent) smile/grimace on my face walking like.... er... someone who's had something stuck up her ass!!!

ANyway, tonight I cannot be... arsed!!!

OP posts:
divedaisy · 03/12/2008 19:59

frazzle - how are you feeling now??
jael - are you about tonight?

I'm getting lots of movement today. DS keeps softly touching my tummy believing he can feel Baby Bump! Can't wait to see his face when it really starts doing the fandango!!

OP posts:
detsy · 03/12/2008 20:04

They're funny aren't they - my DD who is just 1, woddled over to me and said baba at my tummy, pulled up my jumper stuck her finger in my tummy button and kissed my belly. Now there is no way she can possibly know at 1 year but she did make me think!!

I'm not feeling much at all - just the odd pop and flutter and am 18 weeks tomo. Still am refusing to freak about it

divedaisy, am shaking my head and laughing! don't know what i'd do with a pressie like that - tree ornaments?

detsy, am 18+5 and haven't felt anything. I've been freaking about it since hearing so many others feeling obvious movement earlier. this is my 3rd and I thought I'd feel something from 16 weeks.

I've got my anomoly scan on 10th and scared there won't be anything in there but a load of crisps and pizza in a lump.

someone told me that if the placenta is in front, i wouldn't feel as much movement. I don't know where my placenta is however.

getting ready to finish some work, eat turkey soup (Thanksgiving turkey has rendered about six leftover meals) and cheese on toast in front of Heroes.

Hope all well tonight.

Rubysmom08 · 03/12/2008 21:03

momino- I am so glad that you have posted about movement- I was just about to say that myself. Very worried keep thinking I feel something and then I need to trump after

LoobyLou36 · 03/12/2008 21:14

momino thanks, I am feeling alot better. Managed to eat jacket potato and beans for dinner - comfort food. Got on the scales this morning and had lost 4.5lbs. Haven't felt any fluttering for a couple of days . Might have to get the doppler out in a bit.
I'm 18+3 today got my anomoly scan on 15th dec.

divedaisy that is sssooooo funny.
