yeah probably, sorry i didn't mean to sound like a worry wart but just suddenly thought it's something that they say to watch out for headaches, blurry vision and high BP, i realise you only have one of those symptoms so prob no reason to be concerned.

probably just need chocolate.

katie3677 · 24/11/2008 17:17

Loads of luck for tomorrow LadyT, Verso and Daisy, will be thinking of you all. Verso am I right in thinking that you are at St Heliers? They were pretty relaxed with visiting hours when I was in there 3 1/2 years ago, so don't worry too much.
I'm having a baby next week, aaaaargh!

kayzisexpecting · 24/11/2008 17:28

Yeah I have been keeping an eye out for any swelling Verso just incase. I have a MW appointment on Thursday. Its so pants only being able to take paracetamol as it doesn't help at all.

Chocolate sounds good.

Good shopping veggie!

And Kayz! Wow! That is fantastic for the hotmilk bras! Hope they make up for the migraine (and obv that the migraine is a one off and not anything nasty).

I went to a great independent place in Leeds when we saw the ILs for a fitting. Have 2 nice but plain Royce nursing bras. I'm going to go back at some point and get a couple of hotmilk ones but I wanted to wait until milk production settled down so I got the right size with those ones. Interestingly the woman in the shop said they suggest that hotmilk bras be used alongside a good sturdy bra like the royce as they don't give as much support.

Got a call from the Dr this afternoon to say my bloods from last week came back showing that I'm anaemic. Certainly explains a lot....

penny99 · 24/11/2008 18:42

Good luck to LadyT, Verso and Daisy for tomorrow.

I got fitted at Peter Jones/John Lewis for nursing bras and interestingly the lady said to only buy one or two for now and then go back afterwards if the size was right. I would have bought however many she told me so was impressed that she didn't try to sell me too many. One is for day (with more support) and a more comfortable one for night/around the house which seemed quite sensible.

I know a few of you have mentioned Ina May's birth book - I have been reading it again today and it seems to have given me a positive feeling about the upcoming birth (due date less than 10 days away now - OMG!). It might help anyone else who needs a pick me up to prepare them for labour.

Are many of you nesting? Poor DH asked the other day when that 'cleaning phase' might kick in and noted that he had not read about any 'shopping/going out for lunch/getting pedicures/reading books on sofa' phase in any of the pregnancy books!

Veggiemummy · 24/11/2008 18:51

oh Penny i am definite that there is the shopping/going out for lunch/getting pedicures/reading books on sofa phase, he must have missed that chapter. In fact if you don't do all your hair will fall out after the baby is born and he doesn't want a bald wife does he.

katie3677 · 24/11/2008 19:27

Who was the real nappy expert again? Mine arrived today and I'm sure that I read somewhere that they need to be washed at least 10 times for maximum absorbancy, can anyone tell me whether this is right? They are Totsbots Bamboozles by the way

Phew trying to catch up.

Main thing (though it's a bit late...) BEST OF LUCK to the Tuesday section girls (and of course anyone else that ends up having a baby tomorrow - Kay?? ). Really jealous of LadyT Verso Daisy getting to meet their babies tomorrow! Enjoy and take care.

WG - it's sweet that your Dh is worrying - it shows he is thinking about it all. I am sure he will be an amazing Dad. My DH had a very poor role model in his own father - and the whole boarding school thing - but is a fantastic father.

bisou I am so sad to hear about your boss. He sounds like he was a wonderful man.

Kayz sorry about your DH's job worries. There are so many of us worrying whether redundancy is around the corenr. Fingers crossed.

Beansin answer to your Q, it's a while since I read the Baby Whisperer. But a general guide is I think that (after a while, if you are looking at routine based parenting) you are supposed to avoid feeding your baby to sleep. The reason being that at a certain point, you might want them to learn to settle themselves back to sleep (rather than requiring feeding for sleep/comfort purposes, say at 3am) Many people love co-sleeping because if they are b'fing the baby can suckle each time it wakes - it depends what you are into.

Can't quite think what "activity" a newborn might engage in after a feed (playdoh, collage???)

Veggie your comfies and dressing gown sound lovely!

Indith sorry you are low in iron - but hopefully you can work on that and feel better.

penny I loved Ina May's book! I am also reading Marie Mongan's Hypnobirthing book - which ties in very well (and indeed doing a course on sunday - despite being a third timer!)

I am feeling niggly, heavy and crampy. If I didn't have 4 weeks to go I would think that something might be happening....but very unlikely given my previous gestations.

Can't wait to hear news of our new babies tomorrow. It's exciting!

lal07 · 24/11/2008 19:50

Lady T, Verso and Daisy best of luck for tomorrow. Will be thinking of you all. More babies - woo hoo! Can't wait to hear the names/see pictures.

Verso really hope it's better than your experience last time - agree with Effie and Veggie - if your Mum is there helping you they'll be grateful that they don't have to (and really not fair - what about people who don't have DP/DH?).

Lady T was sorry we didn't get much chance to chat - was quite focussed on trying to make sure DS didn't do exhibition bad toddler behaviour and scare you all!

Beans I think having DS definitely made DH and I closer - not that we weren't close before - but there's something about sharing that first year. Not that it's not stressful or hard. Before I had DS my SIL (v ruefully) said to me that however tempting it is to want to be in charge you have to step back or face the fact that you'll make your DH/DP useless - and you'll be stuck always the one packing the bag/sorting the food. Think it really helped me that I knew that my DH would be at home full time for a bit so I had to let him get on with things his own way. But still difficult.

Veggie am of your shopping. Am obsessed with finding the right dressing gown as am planning to spend so much time in it. Last time I had a lovely indian cotton robe that I'd picked up on a work trip - wore and washed it to death. Think I'm just going to have to give in and get a Toast one and then wear it until am an old lady to justify the expense.

Have just got to the really uncomfortable stage - baby is so low and still kicking and prodding like a mad thing. Hope you all sleep well (pathetic - not even 8pm and I'm already thinking of sleep). xxx

daisydora · 24/11/2008 19:51

Just nipping on to say thanks everyone for there good luck messages! Feeling really weird at the moment, its all a bit surreal tbh. Good luck ladyt & verso I've just had a lovely bath in peace as DD at my parents and DH still at work. he'll be home any minute fretting about stuff I've had sorted for weeks

Have just rung hospital to check there was a bed for me in the morning, spoke to a lovely MW who said for once they were pretty quiet and she would look forward to seeing me tomorrow

kayz I'm sure when it comes to it they won't kick your mum out if she's there with you when Dh not...my hospital says 'DH, Partner or significant other'

bisou so sorry to hear about your boss

Indith · 24/11/2008 20:01

Katie yes you need to wash them a few times but you can sling them in on continuous cycles, no need to dry in between. And don't worry too much about doing them a gazillion times as newborns don't usually have them on long enough to get saturated

Cat I've gone for a very basic hospital bag of clothes for baby, maternity towels and pjs for me on the basis that if I transfer it is because there is something wrong so I don't need all the stuff for labour etc and someone can always bring me things.

Best of luck for the sections tomorrow

daisydora · 24/11/2008 20:05

Fuck me my waters have just gone with a bang!!!!!! I'm off..........

kayzisexpecting · 24/11/2008 20:10

Bloody hell Daisy!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!

Bisou, I am very sorry to hear about RH and it must be devastating for you having him as a colleague. Can't believe he was only 60 - so very talented. A great loss to the music world.

Veggie is completely right, as always - the pedicure / hair do / lunching and shopping phase of nesting is the most important! I think it helps you to psyche yourself up for the birth. Turnip, I wonder if you are going to be next? I've felt very niggly the last few days, despite being 2 weeks over with DD1. Having never gone into labour, I don't really know what I am looking for and none of the women in my family has either, so I can't ask them. I can't believe that this time next week I'll be a mother of 3 .

Kayz, how's your head now? Think some of the early pg symptoms can come back towards the end so fingers crossed it's just that. Look after yourself though, won't you and do pop in and have a check up if you get other symptoms. Fingers crossed too that all is OK with DH's job.

Lal, I was GIVEN a toast dressing gown by a dear friend who decided it didn't suit her. I love love love it but am wearing a nasty old M and S one on the ward, as I don't want yuk over my lilac silk one. Must pop out on Wed to get some nice slouchy bottoms to wear in hospital and when I get home. A wise friend gave me the top tip not to get back into your normal (as in going out) clothes too quickly. If you are slobbing around in pjs, people tend to remember that your body has been through the mill and the baby didn't arrive via Ocado. I was up and dressed too quickly after DD2 as I wanted to show I could be superwoman and it did me no favours at all.

Felt a bit sinus-y as well as niggly today. Did lots of house jobs, but couldn't face Ikea. Will try again on Thurs when DD1 at pre school.

Lots of love and luck to Daisy, Verso and Lady T for tomorrow. Can't wait to hear your good news .

chutneymary · 24/11/2008 20:13

Bloody hell, Daisy, cross posts! Good luck my darling.

We might have our next baby tonight! Woo hoo!

Veggiemummy · 24/11/2008 20:18

oh dear Daisy, might have to get that one out a bit earlier then. I hope your DH got home.

Twiga · 24/11/2008 20:20

Am loving the thread title1

Can't believe that the first babies have arrived already - mnay congratulations! And also very exciting that there will be more new arrivals in the next 24 hrs or so - thinking of you.

Wow Daisy, looks like things are kicking off for you - not been great at keeping up with these threads but assuming you were booked for section or induction and now may not need which is great news - hope you've an announcement to make soon and things go well.

Dh just got in with our takeaway so better head but will try to catch up and chat more later.

JamInMyWellies · 24/11/2008 20:23

Good Luck to all those c-sec tom.

Daisy good lord how exciting will you be brave enough to do us a live birthing thread.

Kayz how are you feeling now?

Bisou what sad sad news, sending you lots of love.

Indith does that mean you have to go on iron tablets?

Poo have forgotten what everyone else has been up to am posting then will read a bit more.

Oh had my 38wk 2 minute check today all ok not much going on, saw my sis yesterday also a midwife she told me that not to get concerned with the head engaging as with 2nd bubbas it pops in and out right up to popping out.

Tight a bit more reading and I will be back.

hotmama · 24/11/2008 20:28

Good luck Daisy!

Best of luck for Verso and Lady T for tomorrow!

I live in Nottingham not Birmingham - but still a Midlander.

I break up on Friday and ds1 is being born 3 weeks today - I'm in countdown mode.

Hope everyone is well - am loving the posts of people going to labour etc - makes it all seem really real!

Veggiemummy · 24/11/2008 20:30

i just had the teeny tiniest dinner, just some steam veggies and small serve of mashed potatoe and now i am so full. I'm really uncomfortable with it. I don't know how this baby gets any nousrishment. No wonder i'm so tired. My Hb results come back tomorrow won't be surprised if i'm a bit low might get some floradix tomorrow.

kayzisexpecting · 24/11/2008 20:38

I am feeling much better thanks everyone.

I am still very fed up and would like him to come asap. The heartburn would go, I'd be able to get comfy and stop weeing every 2 seconds.

OP posts:
Indith · 24/11/2008 20:40

Oooh Daisy good luck!

Jam yes, iron tablets, still hopefully they'll help pretty quickly.

kayzisexpecting · 24/11/2008 21:05

I've just had my worst fear confirmed. Pineapple makes heartburn worse.
I have just opened a tin and it is now killing me.

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop on to wish ladyt, verso and daisy lots of luck for tomorrow ? 3 more babies in the gang, it?s so exciting!! daisy I hope your babe has hung on for the c/s after your show, oh, now just read that your waters broke too. So much luck, hope babydaisy arrives safely.

Ooh, and a show from kayz too. Hope you?re doing ok too?

Thought I?d have a quick catch up of all the news, but the thread has doubled in length in just 24 hours ? this is mad, we?re already more than 200 posts into it!!! Apologies if I?ve missed any news ? there?s so much!

LOL at hiccy?s ?no diving? birth pool ? go on hiccy, try a dive, for a laugh!!

kmp how?s your toe? Is it broken, or just bruised? Hoping its just bruised.

kayz and others thinking about waters going ? I read that if they go when you?re stood up the babies head kind of acts as a bit of a plug so they?ll only trickle rather than gush. So hopefully no movie style explosions ?

mibbes I?ve just got the baby whisperer from the library too, but still on chapter 1 ? so far, so interesting though!

And it?s official, Christmas is nearly upon - I?ve just seen the ?holidays are coming? Coke advert, which is always the first sign of it for me!!
