Well at 12+ weeks, today was the first time I've been sick, despite feeling it all the way through.

I'm so pleased, I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on the taste of bile this time around, it's all part of a full and exciting pregnancy experience right?

Went shopping at the weekend. Bought a couple of non-maternity long tops, one maternity top (Vest, Red Herring, £2.40 ) and some white maternity jeans. They bother me a bit, but at £9 I wasn't going to argue.

Impossible to actually find mat jeans to try on... in a REAL shop. Grumpy about that.

Less grumpy that I have gone up a cup size and now have a bra that I don't pop out of. Also bought a nursing bra in Debenhams sale for £4.80. Guessing size going off last time but at that price worth the risk.

I need some new jeans and trousers though. Currently wearing some old ones, a size too big. Just about comfy round the belly, but you can see my 'builder's area' most of the time. Grr.

Clarity2005 · 26/01/2009 12:47

hi there, Can I add myself too??

had dating scan due 5th August, 2nd child DD will be 8 in March!

Hi to everyone! :-)

Rachel1963 · 26/01/2009 15:44

Hi everyone, I've been feeling a bit fed up this weekend. I thought the nausea was fading last week but it returned with a vengeance on Friday night. And I feel the size of a house already. [grumble grumble emoticon]. Tried to cheer myself up by fishing out my maternity bras from last time, but it's not going to work - I need to go and do some serious shopping

Welcome Clarity!

BabyBump2B · 26/01/2009 17:50

Hi everyone!

Welcome Clarity!

I had a rubbish weekend - ended up with a migraine which was terrible. I took a tylenol and retreated to bed but it ended up wiping me out completely and I didn't get much done. That said I've been dreading getting one whilst pregnant and I was able to manage it well enough without drugs but it wasn't as bad as some of my regular ones.

My belly seems to have popped out of nowhere and is very obvious suddenly! Anyone else have this?

nuttygirl · 26/01/2009 17:54

BabyBump2Be - yes, I was worried cos I was showing less than last time until I went to Bravissimo on Sunday and caught a glance at my belly in the mirror and thought "Where did that come from???!!!"

lifesaboxochoccies · 26/01/2009 20:33

hi clarity!

well i am really excited tonight i feel like ds on christmas eve!!! lol! i have got my scan tomorrow and i am soooooooooo excited just to see my little tiny baby moving on the screen and to reassure me because of the midwife not picking up the heartbeat yet!!! will definately let everybody knows how it goes and yes over the weekend my belly seems to have popped out a bit as i was completely not showing last friday and now i have a little bump!!!!

Kanuck · 26/01/2009 21:00

We had our scan today at 11+4. Fetus was 5.4cm so dated exactly to my IVF dates. The little guy/gal was non-stop flipping all around, possibly because I just had a Twix? Anyway, made the Nuchal fold measurement procedure a bit of a pain for sonographer. She took the measurement about 8 times just to be sure. 1.2mm so I am happy with this as >2mm in Week 11 would have been concerning.

However, I have decided that I cannot wait the 2 weeks for a 'combined' result (am 41 and so would generally be classed as high risk). We have the another scan privately with the Fetal Med Centre on Thurs. If we get a high risk result, i have already booked in tentatively for the CVS on Friday. I know the midwives advise against doing these tests twice but we are curious and thorough I suppose. I am married to a German, what can I say . . .

I guess most of us are doing these tests over the next couple of weeks. Good luck to all!

I am sorry so many of you are feeling so poorly, illness on top of ms ? how awful! I second kitkatqueen use of seabands for ms. They?ve been great for me, helped keep nausea to something I can cope with, just about!!

I?ve been catching up on your chat guys, and one thing that has interested me is the number of us who have had c-sections in the past! There?s a really good yahoo chat group on VBAC, and some women on there have VBA3C and even VBA4C. A lot of women also use it to talk through their c-section birth plans too.

OonaghBhuna I am glad you are happy with your choice to have the section. It is a very personal choice and people get so judgemental. I hate that!

I am trying for VBAC (this will be DC#2) at HOME! Consultant very OTT, DH nearly gave him a standing ovation when, after giving what he obviously felt were ultimately too subtle references to my probable demise if I birthed at home, he dramatically declared he just ?didn?t want me to DIE! ... There, I said it!!!?

LeninGrad as I said above, to get loads of advice on avoiding the emcs under GA, try the yahoo group.

SpecialOffer it?s your body, your baby and no-one, not even the all-important consultant can ?let you? have another natural birth or not. Get all the info. you want and make your own choice. If elective is right for you, great, if not, great! I really think it should be on your terms!

olivo I was under the impression that c-section babies did have a lot of resuscitation problems as they had not been ?squashed? in the birth canal. My DS had low apgar score, didn?t breathe for 5 mins. And DH thought he had to tell me I?d been through emcs for nothing!

nellyup I have a battle on my hands for my HBAC! Oh my word, do I! It?s as if my wish to have as normal a birth as possible, for my newborn to be home with it?s family without daft visiting hours for DH and DS or risk of MRSA, is somehow contrary to the well-being of my unborn child!

Heard a great joke (for some of us ....) What?s the difference between God and an obstetrician?
God doesn?t think he?s an obstetrician?

LittleFairySmile · 26/01/2009 21:57

Oh, and big belly here too! Have broken out old mat. clothes but can't find my jeans - aaarhhh - I lived in them last time and I have no idea where they are! We've had two house moves since last pg!

Totally fair enough LeninGrad, I really hope I did come across as preach-y or judgmental at all.

LittleFairySmile · 26/01/2009 22:10

I didn't didn't didn't come across as preach-y or judgmental at all.

LittleFairySmile · 26/01/2009 22:10

Typo - too tired, I am trying to be nice, honest. Must go to bed!

Kanuck · 26/01/2009 22:14

LeninGrad - we just want to know one way or the other. We would not be doing screening tests if we didn't want to know. If we come out very low risk then we will probably skip the CVS. Fetal Med Centre's miscarriage rate from invasive testing is 1% for CVS or amnio so we don't see the point of waiting for the amnio.

hiya, feeling a bit peed off and stressed. Went out on sunday to a kids party and was sitting on a chair when the legs fell off. I know it sounds hilarious, except there was a picket fence thing behind me and ds (12mnths) was on my lap. I held him up as I went down cos I just had this split second vision of him going face first into it as I went backwards. he was fine although very shaken, but I couldn't stop myself at all and really went down like a sack.

I now have to go for a scan on Thursday ( been getting lots of cramping) and in spite of paracetamol I am in agony with my back. My partner is starting a new job on monday and will be working away from monday to thursday and I am going to be at home with 3 kids under 5 and a stuffed back. I can hardley pick up my son. My gp says my back is probably going to be a problem for at least the next 5 months and thinks I may have fractured my coccix but I can't be xrayed anyway. What on earth am I going to do?
I am probably just panicking but... I don't seem to be able to stop.

ps feel the need to point out that in spite of being called kitkat and breaking chairs I promise i'm not the size of an elephant.

thoughtforms · 27/01/2009 08:37

kitkatqueen - you have my sympathy - back in August last year I fell down the stairs (for a really stupid reason), lost my footing, and went down bum-first. Oh the pain from the coccix - it's still there a tiny bit, but for the first few weeks it was real proper pain - so I know where you're coming from.

I hope you get good news from your scan - my only advice - make sure you've plenty of cushions for when you sit down - it makes it all so much less painful and gives you some support.

Re the fracture, apparently it's quite common - and if that's what happened, there isn't a lot that can be done about it, other than you have to live with the pain - but it does get better in time (and cushions really really do help). Also, even though it's bloody painful, can your husband massage the area a bit? It might help bring any other bruising out, and then there's less pain to deal with?

Good luck, anyway!

pussface · 27/01/2009 11:30

I have not posted on this thread for some time, not much to say as I don?t have many symptoms, just been lurking instead. I am happy to report that my scan went well and new baby is due 29th July as per my EDD.

Nearly thought I wasn?t going to get to the hosp tho as we had a flat tire and the spare had a nail in it, so we had to call a taxi. I was about five mins late but they didn?t mind, phew!

Sorry to hear about all those who have mc, makes me appreciate how lucky I am, sending my best wishes to you all for the future.

Sorry to hear about your accident kitkatqueen - poor you, I hope you can find someone to help you even for a day or two?

Must go now little DD is getting bored, she?s getting so big now at 8 months my days are spent making food for her and I am addicted to homemade soup at the moment it's nice and warm in this cold weather. x

Uki · 27/01/2009 11:45

Hi all

there is so much I want to say hope my preggy brain can remeber it all.

queen-Ouch you poor hun, i really hope it's not broken and baby is fine, i'm sure baby was quite cushioned and safe.
can you try a cool pack maybe the pain is just very bad bruising, and you will feel better in a couple of days.

leningrad- sorry to hear of slight high risk of downs, hopefully it will drop with triple, when do you get result?

Kanuack- i also had chocolate bar and baby was jumping a lot, but sonographer said that was better than sleeping. she was very patient and nice though unlike the dr. who grilled me about being a huge risk coz i'm nearly 34 my risk is 1/300 ATM(before blood)but the way he went on made me feel alarmed.

babybump- yes showing alot here too, look 4.5-5 months pg already. although wish i was also glowing, my skin looks terrible and my hair is really dry.

we had a pretty crap day yesterday, as our house was burgled, took mostly electrical stuff, but also an antique locket from my mum. could have been worse. Though I feel like i can't trust anyone in the town now, as seems to be someone who knew we were in the process of moving.

anyway hope all the scans go well, i got to see a bit in 4D for the first time ever very cool.

nuttygirl · 27/01/2009 11:47

Pussface - glad you got to your scan

Kitkat - you poor thing, coccyx pain is awful (I flipped mine out of place giving birth to dd). Hope you feel better soon.

I've been reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin and it's fab. I couldn't put it down! There's lots of useful information in it but presented in a really interesting way - i.e. not just reading a lot of info iyswim.

I'm still counting the days until Friday.

nuttygirl · 27/01/2009 11:49

sorry x-posted Uki. Sorry to hear you got burgled. That's just awful. &
