Feeble attempt at catch up, apologies.

Moose glad the sick has gone, it is an awful thing. I hate seeing them be sick. The baby was last night, he woke cryoing at 2 and we had to bath him. Only once though so not sure what that was all about! He seems ok this morning. I am sooo tired though.

I cannot get comfortable at night and have had some god awful cold all weekend.

Tink you would be proud of me, well mil anyway. She bought 2 packs of new born nappies yesterday I now have nappies and some clothes! >

Enemas are not nice, you really do not want one. They were standard practice years ago. Your body will naturally push whatever is in the way out, dont worry. The midwife will have whipped it away before you even notice i promise. She will not bat an eye lid either.

Have a million calls to make this morning and a very grumpy toddler, it does not bode well...

moosemama · 24/11/2008 10:24

Morning everyone,

Baaaad night last night, two anxiety attacks and restless the whole night with hardly any sleep. Feel really pathetically weak and shaky this morning. Feel a bit like I did months ago when I had morning sickness, not a pleasant memory to relive.

Part of it could be down to receiving bad news just before I went to bed. My sister, the one who has CIN 4 cervical pre-cancer, was rushed into hospital with severe abdominal pain and heavy bleeding last night. As of this morning the bleeding has increased and they say she has a 'lumpy womb'. Last I heard they were waiting for the surgical team and she was going for a scan. There is a question over whether she was pregnant and didn't know it.

gtab, sorry your spd is so bad, hope you are able to get some rest and recuperation today.

lg&t, apparently lots of the kids at DS1s school were sick on Friday (would be suspicious if he still had school dinners ). A lot of them were only sick once and were fine the next day, so it sounds like its a short lived virus. Its so awful when they are sick and you can't do anything to make them feel better isn't it. Especially when you know how they are feeling with the spectre of morning sickness still looming large in recent memory.

Agree about the enemas, the experience would be far worse than any embarrassment you think you might feel in labour - yuk! I always seem to get diahorrea in the early stages of labour and that seems to take care of things for me.

tinkisallreadytositonthetree · 24/11/2008 10:33

lg&t you are organised i luv newborn nappies so tiny

mm- sorry for bad night
hope that your sister is ok

She just feel so Heavy and Active at night its a nightmare.

i have been loving baking too, baked lots of muffins. Silly thing is i don't like anything muffin/sponge Based, so i took them to my girls night in. Am happily munching through some M&S toffee Viennese as i type!

Hi all,
I've was away to Inverness for the weekend with the girls and can't believe how busy chatting you've all been - I must go and catch up on all your news
Had hospital this morning and I've to double the dose of my tablets to control gestational diabetes, however they're not going to put me onto insulin which is great news . I've to be induced between 38 and 40 weeks, so it looks like this baby is certainly going to be here before Christmas....it's so exciting!
Hope you are all well x

rrrayray · 24/11/2008 13:32

Booksgalore -its not at all a dumb Question. The place i used to have it done in Brighton used to tell me to take knickers off (sure could have refused, but whats point, seen it all before!) but Aveda salon i now used since we have moved she just asked me to move my knickers strategically at different points. i said before i started "god i hope you've done a pregnant woman before & are ready for my Swollen bits! " She laughed, such a nice girl, and said, shes seen it all!

Have got newborn nappies in, and pads for me. Must get big knickers and nightie soon.

Antenatal class tonight, think doing water birth and massages. Both interesting to me, as hopefully OH will then want to massage me lots, and secondly as thinking of having water birth, or at least relaxing in the water for part of labour at least!

fourlittlefeet · 24/11/2008 13:44

afternoon all. Absolutely knackered. DD also same age as Beau and your DS books. Also starting those lovely temper tantrums. Very draining, especially at 2am. Off to GP today to start my home vbac campaign!

largeginandtonic · 24/11/2008 14:00

Good luck FLF Take a hard hat with you.

Books Beau was born in May, he was due 13th and came 26th... i remember the DIY sweep NatalieJane labour thread started it all you know

I am beyond grumpy, i just said quite seriously to DH that i am not doing another 7 weeks of this. I feel so uncomfortable, it feels like the last 2 weeks of pregnancy already!

I have two packs of newborn nappies, am so organised. I must get a nightie too. One with buttons all down the front for feeding. I had two last time but cannot find them anywhere. Not so organised i suppose.

No more sick from Beau and the others are all ok too, fingers crossed it was a blip.

Moose your poor sister God knows how she must be feeling. Has she any children? She must (and you) be terrified.

fymandbean · 24/11/2008 14:05

hello all - what a lot to catch up on! I've been so busy with the Christmas rush at work just had no time!

anyway on enforced rest today - have a pain under my breastbone (like an internal bruise IYKWIM) went in for monitoring and everything fine just got to rest

now 31 weeks 9 to go! doesn't time fly!

Tip re: kids sickness try putting towels over the bed - then you just whip them off when little'un is sick and put some more on and no bed changes required! (hopefully ) it is a little hit and miss but with Ds generally means fewer full bed changes when he's sick. I usually put one under his head and shoulders and one wrapped over the top of the duvet - its not infallible but it does work!

braxton hicks - had absolutely none the first time round - and am getting loads this time...

Raspberry leaf tea - when are we supposed to start is it 34 weeks? i love the stuff!!

I have nappies and a few new clothes. also bought night time pads as theres no difference as far as I can see - just don't get the thin one - you want the thick old fashioned pads.

Also for first timers don't bother with disposable knickers - just get tesco cheap big cotton knickers - they are the same price as disposables and you can use them again! (in fact am still wearing some from 3 years ago now )

last tips for first timers take paracetamol after the brth - every 4 hours - follow the instructions - cos if you don't then realise you need them you have to wait an hour for them to work! also take some cartons of juice with you - very welcome energy boost after the birth....

qumps · 24/11/2008 14:30

just back from scan at hospital. the cysts appear to have gone and although heart foci still there all growth seems normal. baby currently 5lb 2 and they think will be around 8lb which conmpared to my whopper ds of 9lb 2 sounds diddy. they are going to let me labour naturally and monitor if it kicks off before c section so rasberry tea it is! asked midwife ans she said from 36 weeks but sure some of you are taking earlier?
mm hope all ok with your sis.
poor sick babies. agree its awful and you feel so helpless when they can't say whats wrong.

fourlittlefeet · 24/11/2008 15:11

Lol LG&T, didn't notice back then, but L was due 26th and born 12th

moose, hope your sis is ok. right. off I go. hard hat and hobnail boots.

MsSparkle · 24/11/2008 16:54

Hello,

moosemama, that's awful about your sister. I hope everything is ok?

fymandbean, my book says to take raspberry leaf tea from 36 weeks.

Qumps, good news that the cysts have gone. I'm sure your relieved that your baby is going to smaller! I wouldn't fancy squeezing out a 9lb 2 baby either!

I have had more energy today. I think the iron tablets are working I have managed to get the washing done and some housework.

I went to buy some things for my hospital bag like shampoo etc and was stunned at how expensive they are. £1 for one tiny little bottle of shampoo, i pay just over a pound for a normal size bottle! These people really know how to rip you off. So i have decided to let my normal size bottles of soap and shampoo get down to the bottom of the bottle and then just pack that. I probably sound like a cheep skate but i hate being ripped off!

tinkisallreadytositonthetree · 24/11/2008 17:05

i knew that i had forgotten to pack something in my hospital bag shampoo have packed deodrant and showergel
ye for more energy

OP posts:
fymandbean · 24/11/2008 17:12

my DS was 9lb 2 this one is predicted to be bigger!

elkiedee · 24/11/2008 17:36

Moosemama, sorry to hear about your sister.

MsSparkle, for shampoo, I normally keep an empty shampoo bottle for any time when I'm going away and just tip an amount in there, depending on how long I expect to be gone of course.

The other option is to hoard hotel toiletries if you ever get to stay in hotels (mind you we do less of that these days than we used to 2 years ago - ds is 18 months).

moosemama · 24/11/2008 17:46

Thanks for all the support guys. Apparently sis had internal and external scans done before lunch and last I heard was waiting for the results. LG&T she has two grown up children and one in junior school.

I have been on pins all day waiting for news, but chanelled the nervous energy into housework and dog bathing. Unfortunately, said dog has since had d&v all over my clean kitchen floor! Aaaargh! All three dogs now in strops as am currently boil washing their beds.

I always clean when I'm stressed, when DH had his head injury a few years back, Mum arrived to find me scrubbing the skirting boards with a toothbrush. (I had just finished scrubbing all the blackening off the fireplace and couldn't find any more dirt to attack!)

Too exhausted to keep up the pace now, so thought I'd try and distract myself online.

MissHairspray · 24/11/2008 18:36

Sorry about your sis Moosemama, must be awful for everyone having to wait.

FLF - was the pain on your right side? I read somewhere that your liver can get a bit shoved to the side by the baby sometimes which makes a tender spot

I stocked up on big primark knickers - £2 for 6 - and a couple of nightshirts although they don't button all of the way down so not sure how easy they will be to feed. I also got a fab tommee tipee hamper that my mums friend won in a raffle which is packed full of drinking beakers and teething rattles/toys so something else we won't need to get.

I'm so uncomfortable in bed now too, when I lie on my side I get crampy pains in my hips and butt-cheeks, and when I turn on my back I feel like i'm being suffocated. Luckily I haven't had spd like some of you unfortunate ladies, but I do have a sore tailbone that I can actually feel 'giving' when I sit down. Work is a bit hellish too but only two weeks to go.

LenniEd · 24/11/2008 18:39

MM - hope all is well and you get some news soon. Definitely stick to online distractions this evening - don't want you overdoing it, although sounds like you have already... don't know where you get the energy from. My dogs really smell at the moment - well I think they do, DH not convinced. When I can face the cleaning the bathroom afterwards I'm going to be shoving the pair of them in the bath. It always entertains DD anyway. One of them is very delicate about being bathed and we have to give her a shower!! She is a rescue dog and the bath is her one thing she isn't right about, but she'll happily jump in a river

MsSparkle - how long have your iron tablets taken to start working? Mine has dipped again and I've gone onto some liquid stuff to try and get it back up but still feel wiped out. Think it might just be par for the course though with being 33wks pg with a toddler in tow.

FYM and LG&T - I still haven't packed my bag, so you are very organised in my book! I really must do it, esp as having BH like crazy and feel very crampy all the time. That said, am sure I will go overdue. If only I knew when baby would arrive....

I hoard little bottles for travelling and do same as elk. I esp used to like it when parents/kids used to buy me sets of smellies for a present at the end of term cos I could use the bottles! All the other teachers thought I was crazy since you would get so many things like that. My favourite present was always wine tho - I taught two boys from the same family and would get a nice bottle of rose at xmas. Was lovely!

MsSparkle · 24/11/2008 18:54

LenniEd i started taking them on Friday, so pretty fast.
