Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

yikes, they've asked me to come in for monitoring. eeeek. double eeek. am half embarrassed that this is happening again and half petrified that this may be something....watch this space.

MsSparkle · 15/12/2008 15:21

fourlittlestockingedfeet good luck!

DD has been watching tv for the last 2 hours while i have been laying on the sofa reading a book. I always feel guilty about this but then surely i can have a rest while 37 weeks pregnant? I just feel i should be doing something with her.

Just went to get Ds1 from school while Mum had Ds2 for 10 minutes.

OMG I felt like I was going to give birth there and then! Suddenly felt really low in pelvis and very crampy, plus felt sick and light headed. School walk that only takes a few minutes felt like hours. Still felt decidedly uncomfortable and odd when I got home for about half an hour but am feeling slightly more normal after a sit down.

Am wondering if she has decided to turn, or at least have a good go at it. Top of bump feels quite soft now and am feeling kicks up top (although I suppose her feet would have been up top anyway with extended breech). Also, I seem to look twice the size I was this morning. She may just be trying to fool me, mind you it would be a load off my mind if she has decided to do a flip. Wish there was a foolproof way to tell.

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 15/12/2008 16:31

aloha! back at home, but need to go back in for monitoring at 8. Not really sure what is going on, nor are they . cervix closed and posterior (christ that bit hurt - why can't they check you without it hurting - remember it being horrendous from last time!). They also did a scan and have decided once and for all that it is head down; my gp and midwives have been at odds for weeks thinking it was breech cos its got a very pert bottom!

Anyhoo. upshot is that if I go into labour this week, all my hospital changing hard work will be in vain as they monitor more for preemies as well as vbac, so though they might bend the rules on a vbac, they won't with prems so...[bollocks emoticon].

Not really sure why I have to go back in if nothing changes, but I guess they need to cover their arses. grrr. now I need to find a ruddy babysitter and DD is being a real pain in the arse at the mo so not sure who should be taking her on!

sorry. rant over. braxton hicks most definitely do hurt. unless this is labour

qumps · 15/12/2008 16:36

fingers crossed she has moosemama. might explain why you felt a bit shakey this morning. its such a weird/horrid feeling when they decide to flip at this stage as no room. lets hope she gets sandwiched in the correct place!
had a few laughs with girlfriends today telling the story of last night. mum of course got the edited version that i was reading my book. but not even a twinge today although i have been asleep for about 5 hours (sorry). cavalry are in and have someone coming everyday to hep with ds.
flf you might be contracting/birthing as i type. good luck!
now i'm officially 37 weeks got 2 weeks to try to get this boy to put in an apperance naturally. off to buy pineapple, making curry tonight and may even tweak a nipple!!

moosemama · 15/12/2008 17:38

Now I don't know what to think. Am getting hiccups low down near my right hip! But then again I had those the morning I went into the assessment unit and was told she was breech.

Bump feels quite a bit, lower but could be her bum has dropped down into pelvis. Gah! Its such a pain having to wait till Thursday to find out.

Am terrified to get comfy now in case she has turned and lying down or slouching encourages her back the wrong way. Currently sat with boys on sofa with 3 fat cushions behind me to make sure I sit up straight!

flf its a pain having to go back in, but will be worth it if they confirm everything is ok and you can still go to the new hospital. Keeping everything crossed here for you (except legs of course, must keep pelvis relaxed).

Ds2 must be feeling better, has trashed lounge floor with a giant Thomas train set that he now wont let me put away!

LenniEd · 15/12/2008 19:02

FLF - Sounds like it is good news then, wouldn't worry too much about them asking you to come back in, as you say you are still a couple of weeks off full-term so they will want to make sure everything is ok. Did they take a sample to test for UTIs? When I started with the cramps/backache/painful BH that have plagued me the last couple of weeks I was given a precautionary course of ABs just in case I had a UTI as apparently they can bring on labour. But tests were all clear. Bad news is I've carried on feeling like I'm in early labour ever since. Am only managing about 2/3 hours sleep a night as the cramps get so bad. And I'm sure I'll still be preggers in another 5/6 weeks!!

Qumps - congratulations on making it to the beginning of the end iyswim. Lovely when you get to 37wks and know that you'll be meeting your baby soon. Just another week to go and I'll be joining you on the pineapple etc etc - must get some raspberry leaf tea in, although still a little scared of it!

rrrayray · 15/12/2008 19:03

Qumps Laughing at you and OH last night. i too had a surprise burst of bedroom energy and did the deed last night. Have been feeling so sorry for OH, when your this pregnant the idea of getting jiggy is soooooooo off the menu 99.9% of the time. That said, once i turn 37 weeks i think might have to force myself to... i REALLY don't want to go over due.

FLF hope second hospitial visit goes well.

moosemama i have had similar moments twice in the past week where i've felt like it was all go... but must have just been strong bouts of BH as no baby! Oh, and totally agreeing with everyone who said/says BH DO hurt!

Givethedog Facebook Due jan 2009 for any of you who want to join

Lets hope everything going well for heathersmummy

Am missing my final NCT class, am feeling god awful with flu type stuff. everything aches, and throat feels like been cut with barbed wire

LenniEd · 15/12/2008 19:07

MM- hoping for some good news for you on Thurs. Happy bouncing/inverting etc. - if its any consolation, I'm bolt upright too and this one was anterior last time I saw mw, but don't dare let it turn round!! Glad DS2 better.

Hello everyone else - how exciting HeathersMummy will be getting induced in a bit!! We'll have another arrival soon

qumps · 15/12/2008 19:21

i remember she said 8pm didn't she? oooh if flf back at 8 and it all kicks off it could be tandem birthing!
had a little bleed but think its from where midwife stuck unbelievably huge plastic thing up me to do internal. bf husband came round to drop off presents this morning and told him last nights story. bf just texted to say did i wet myself. charming!
poor you rrayray hope you feel better. shame you are missing nct class. did you send dh alone?! now that would be brave.
lennied i have gone for the tablets this time and much easier to deal with. says on packet you can start from 28 weeks which seems very early to me.
dad just rung to say he is taking me to jojomaman on a shopping spree tomorrow - yay!

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 15/12/2008 19:33

ray hope you are feeling better; lots of honey and lemon.

I'm really not keen to go in to hospital again (would have to get babysitter as don't want to go on my own so a real malarky). Anyway, trying to keep still and relax. Lenni, yes they did swab me - must have been for UTI's then, did ask but he just said for 'tests' which was a bit vague I felt esp. since they did 3!

Thing is have now had BH constantly for 18 hours. Is that not a bit odd? Off to trawl the threads shortly to find out. Lenni, I hope we don't through this constantly for the next three weeks; I'll be a wreck! Found that any kind of exertion makes them come on stronger, so looking after DD when nursery finishes for Christmas on thurs should be fun!

LenniEd · 15/12/2008 19:38

Swabs are for other infections iirc - I had to have them when my waters had gone. Think they test for things like strep B with them - LG&T or treedelivery would know. They took a urine sample to test for UTIs, they dipped one and sent another to the lab.

18hrs does seem a long time - most I've had so far is about 10hrs, and that was hard work. Definitely rest as much as you can just in case.

Yep, I'm pretty much a wreck after nearly 2wks of this so give me another couple of weeks and I'll be having a breakdown!! No, actually I'm starting to cope better with it now. Although DH and I not getting on so well, both worn out.

rrrayray · 15/12/2008 19:49

FLF/LenniEd- wow 10 & 18 hours of Strong BH sounds like a nightmare. i've only had a few hours at best... well, should i say worst.

Am snug on couch with hot water, can't stand lemon- makes me gagg!

Qumps- no didn't make OH go Solo, firstly b/c tonight was more of a social, not a learning session, and secondly b/c has a match tomorrow, so don't think he was intending to attend anyway. Teacher was lovely & said would call me with re-union date. i guess we meet end jan/ beg of feb once all had our bubbas? Sounds like a nice idea! have just started taking Raspberry leaf tablets with my daily preggy vitamin - am a little concerned they might make my BH go into overdrive... fingers crossed not!

FLF - surely if you are happy within yourself that your not in labour, and its going to be a real hassle to get babysitter, then its your choice not to go? I mean, they can hardly force you, can they? if your not worried... i wouldn't go!!!!

Have just realised in all my organisation with all xmas presents wrapped under tree, i've totally neglected the fact my mothers birthday is the 28th. Doh.... Am stuck for presents. Gave my dad the good ideas (he is clueless, sorted out a Chocolate making session in london with my sister for her, and a Hamper from a gorgeous resturant nearby) thinking i;d have no problems... and have now left myself high and dry. Been browing Laura Ashley Website (She loves that shop) but nothing jumping out!!!!!

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 15/12/2008 20:00

just thought I'd pop in again with some great pre-birth reading: thefunniest bit of childbirth thread is fantastic and shows you not to take it all too seriously...

treedelivery · 15/12/2008 21:20

Cant stay but popped in for a wave.

I AM GOING INTO DD1's PLAYROOM TO APPLY ORDER AND LOGIC! And I may be some time.

I'm taking babywipes, bin liners and several dishcloths. Wish me luck!

rrrayray · 15/12/2008 23:17

Been trying to keep myself up late (this is LATE for preggy me!) so i'll Zonk out when i get into bed. slept so badly last night, Felt like barbed wire in my Throat. Ouch!

Off to TRY and get some kip..........need it!

LenniEd · 15/12/2008 23:23

Doing the same here rrayray! Hoping it works, although am kind of having a second wind now

treedelivery · 16/12/2008 00:19

Amm out of the playroom. 2 bin liners and a dust allergy, 3 and half hours!

Won't catch up on thread now, am totally wiped and back killing me. Braxton Hicks [or incredibly painful non-painful tightnings!] are in full swing as result of zooming about.

FLSF - hope second hospital trip went ok? Did you have to go back tonight?

BTW, vaginal swabs [taken in case of maybe threatened preterm labour] are often taken from low vagina, high vagina and cervix 'triple swabs'- hence need for speculum to get cervix in view. They are cultured in lab to see what grows, commonly nothing, maybe thrush. Less commonly Bacterial Vaginosis and strep B. Some of these are known to be implicated in causing early labour, or known to have potential effects on the newborn, or on our fertility etc. Some places do Chlamydia, but often only on under 25's. This is now more commonly done by urine sample. The swabs get to the lab, incubation period is about 48 hrs and then if anything is there the microbiologists throw treatments at it to see which is effective. Results then go back to the origional source of the swab, i.e. delivery suite and are then reviewed and sent out to GP's etc - so takes 3-5 days in total. Same for wee specimens and any swab for any lurgy. Most GP's etc are on the server for the local labs and so can look up results for you.
Hope this helps! [lesson concluded - hope I didn't forget anything!]
