OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
qumps · 27/11/2008 19:21

wow 3 weeks is not long heathersmummy. will be strange/awesome when the first one of us has a new baby. shall we place bets as to who is first?
rrayray i have a first years nappy roll and a little bag inside my MULBERRY handbag [showing off icon]! sorry naughty but it had been my dream bag forever and dh made my 30th when he bought it for me. def made up for the lack of present when ds arrived but no escaping for him this time after this pregnancy. only thing is think i have got used to not having to carry too much stuff and think i might actually need a fork lift truck for two in nappies?! have pannier bag for phil & teds so think i might just use one of those as a day to day stocked up bag. good advice from moosemama to restock in evenings, particularly when dh been out with it. number of times i have had a swear when been out after him to find no wipes, nappies ect.
misshairspray my preggers friends and i were only taking the other day about how not good to be preggers at party season. not that i feel much like partying but usually having hair done and planning nice christmas outfit. currently considering whether family will mind if i turn up for turkey in pjs.. can't be bothered to buy anything new at this late stage but have asked for vouchers for christmas so that i can have a splurge once i get back to normal. only problem is with love handles thinking that might be 2010!
what does everyone want for christmas? answers for yourselves and not for babies.

qumps · 27/11/2008 19:24

spink that dress is lovely.
its taking all my will power not to order a chinese.

Spink · 27/11/2008 19:29

ooh, qumps, my wishlist would be.. a voucher for a treatment at the local yummy day spa, a session with a stylist to help me work out how not to look like a bag lady and a couple of really great books for reading during breastfeeding sessions. maybe some diamonds and a squishy leather handbag too. after all this has no bearing on reality, dh is buying us a joint present which I'm told will be a ds lite game...

Spink · 27/11/2008 19:30

dh has just left to go & get my pizza. I'm off to make a salad to go with it.
Chinese is great for you especially if you order a side of pak choi in oyster sauce - lots of iron in those greens

LenniEd · 27/11/2008 19:42

I would love a cleaner for xmas! We are lucky to have inherited a big converted barn/farmhouse but I'm fed up with all the cleaning! It takes me a whole day just to vacuum with lugging DD around from room to room and clearing up her trail of destruction, don't think it will ever happen with DD and a baby.

Other than that I would love a wii fit to lose some weight after the birth.

Think I'll actually be getting some kitchen things I've asked for and DH usually buys me some nice jewellery too which goes down well

moosemama · 27/11/2008 20:17

I never know what I want for Christmas but have asked for a new dressing gown, slippers and pj's so that I don't have to be embarassed in front of the mw. I have however, chosen them all myself as DH always tries hard but gets it sooo wrong and Mum had apparently ordered me a lovely dressing gown from the white company but I don't want white in case I (tmi) bleed on it. Have gone for huge big cuddly black one instead.

If I could have absolutely anything I wanted it would be a bigger car preferably a Toyota Corolla Verso or a decorator to come and finish the house!

The boys have bought me some of that Neals Yard bath stuff (but of course I don't know about that do I ).

LooseyC · 27/11/2008 20:56

Evening all! I can't keep up with all the posts as have to steal DH's laptop when he brings it home from work, post once, and then don't get back on the net for another few days.... hope everyone is still hanging in there!

We are good, although the bump has got loads more active and I'm getting all sorts of bizzare kicks at the moment which make me jump. DH keeps asking if it is normal and if everything is OK! Actually, I do think this one is more hyper than DS was.

Hello and welcome swiggie! We are in Oxford but I lived in London for many years before that and miss it sometimes.

I couldn't decide what to have for Christmas(I usually want clothes or jewelry but not feeling like it at the moment) so I've asked DH to take me out for afternoon tea at a posh hotel - and getting his parents to babysit is part of the deal. I just hope he gets it organised before my due date as I'm looking forward to gorging on cake!

qumps · 27/11/2008 21:11

no will power - chinese was yum
for some reason i really want a nintendo ds. no idea when i will get to play it....
dh still away so rang him with ds to tell him about ds being moved up to big boy room at nursery. unfortunately ds not too keen on taking and just screamed no dada down the phone. ah well i tried....

hkz · 27/11/2008 21:45

Evening all....am new to the whole mumsnet thing..but have enjoyed reading this thread and am due Jan 14th with dc2...hope its not too late to join in.
I am just reaching for my bottle of gaviscon as I type....is there any pleasant tasting alternative to this vile mint flavoured slime? I think I've become immune to it anyway.

elkiedee · 27/11/2008 22:04

I can't cope with Gaviscon in liquid form at all. More bearable in tablets. I find ice has as much effect, bit strange eating ice pops on these cold winter days but it helps a little briefly, at least as much as Gaviscon ever did.

tinks You have Wispas on the brain!!!

Had a pretty Crappy night sleep last night, Beanie seems particuarly active, needed the toilet alot again, and then OH sometimes talks in his sleep... Well he was Shouting last night. Random things too!

Am i the only one not on Galvison/chewing chalk like substances? to be honest, prob b/c i havent had any heartburn. The only thing i've had is the other night i kept getting the sensation of Acid coming back up. But it passed with a few hours, but my god it was horrible for that time. I've been trying to avoid any meds of any sort through preggers, even when i had gastroentistis (sp) i was a stubborn mare and didn't take any paracetomol. I know is suposed to be safe in small doses, but i read in larger doses it can effect their liver. Just thought i'd steer clear all together to be safe.

Off down to Brighton to see my parents today, will be picking up pram, car seat, etc we ordered. yay!

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 28/11/2008 10:12

Oh i cant keep up...

Welcome Swiggie

I am in Portsmouth.

Spink i love your names!

Tink what is your stand by boy name?

Moose how are you today? Have you locked the kids in the cellar? Works for me

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 28/11/2008 10:31

hi again over here 2

we have chester as a standby name

our girls name is bracken hope

largeginandtonic · 28/11/2008 10:36

Chester! Lovely, we had that on the list for Beau! Davina has a Chester doesnt she?

Bracken Hope very sweet

Periwink · 28/11/2008 10:54

Hi to all the new ladies. I have decided that there is no way I can catch up on the thread - just too many posts, so I have just read the last two pages!!!

Luckil I have not had heartburn during my pregnancy but I still (only!!!!) have 5 weeks to go!

Spink that website is brilliant - some really cute toys and baby clothes, I might buy a few things!

I am in North London - in reply to the question where we live.

I am finding that afternoon naps are crucial if I am to exist past 8pm. Yesterday went for a nap and woke up 2 hours later - yikes!! So trying to manically catch up with work and errands I was supposed to do yesterday!

I bought my husband the Storksak jamie Leather bag off Blooming marvellous - was on sale, have not received it yet - so will give feedback when it arrives.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend!

I think someone mentioned the Neals Yard Mothers Bath Oil - I cannot reccommend it enough, heavenly for relaxation and not too overpowering a fragrance in the bath.

I think I might be getting Braxton Hicks - I have a very brief tightening / contracting sensation very very low down but it lasts for 3 seconds is this Braxton Hics?

Those of you who have used Tens machine in previous birth would you reccomend it to a first timer - i am sort of not sure whether to buy one or not?

MsSparkle · 28/11/2008 11:19

Morning,

Have all of you packed your hospital bag yet?

I have to do mine although i keep forgetting what to put in it even though i have packed a hospital bag before

The lists they do for what to put in are good but alot of stuff is unnessesary. I went to buy a couple of pairs of shorts/t-shirts to wear, i figured last time i was so hot and uncomfortable in thick cotton pyjamas, but they only had sizes 12/14 and up or size 6/8.

moosemama · 28/11/2008 12:09

Morning,

Had a few chips which were nice, but really didn't have the appetite in the end.

LG&T, had to let them out of the cellar to go to school! They had both earned reward points off Daddy by the time I got up this morning, but almost as soon as I appeared DS1 decided to start being a brat stroppy and promptly lost them again!

DS2 made me promise to go to the school assembly this morning as they had been involved in The Big Sing record breaking attempt yesterday and were going to sing it for any parents who attended assembly today. Dragged myself down there only to find it was also orchestra concert day, which I'm sure is lovely if your child is in the orchestra, but if you are a tired preggy mom whose children are not involved it can seem a little, well, screechy, not to mention lengthy!

Still, both boys were over the moon to see me there so it was worth going just to see their faces (and to catch the hundreds of kisses they blew me).

Am feeling much better today, most of the coldy stuff has dried up, although its all gone into to my sinuses as usual. Slept much better last night and think that has a lot to do with me feeling better.

Had a great dream last night actually, someone had invented a remote control to control children with! DH and I decided we wouldn't use it in the end though as it was probably not ethical!

Mum just called to invite me out to lunch, so think that must be her attempt at an apology. Have done the housework downstairs, unpacked the Tesco shop and done two loads of washing so think I deserve a break.

Lol at Tink and Wispa obsession. They don't do it for me, has to be a Double Decker every time atm!

moosemama · 28/11/2008 12:12

btw, Periwink, I hated the Tens machine in my first labour, found it really irritating, but put it on a lot earlier with number 2 and it was fantastic. Only had that and a bit of G&A at the end.

Its probably worth a try, they are not that much to hire, got mine from Boots pharmacy both times.

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 28/11/2008 13:23

periwink

i used a tens with 1st definetly worth it not 2 expensive
i ordered mine online they send it out too you you have it for a certain length of time and then just pop it bak in the post for free

ms sparkle i did mine a few weeks ago i just like to be orgnaized and thought @ least it is out of the way now.

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 28/11/2008 13:24

mm glad that u r feeling better
assembly sounded good

Periwink · 28/11/2008 15:15

Thanks Tink & Moosemamma - I think I will probably end up buying / renting one, I have had mixed reviews on the Tens but in the end I figure it is worth giving anything a try that might alleviate the pain.

So far I have packed the babies hospital bag.

MsSparkle · 28/11/2008 15:31

Tink you are by far the most organised person on this thread!

I thought about nighties but then thought if i am going to try bf then maybe a t-shirt with some shorts might be better? Not sure about bf though. I am borrowing dps Jeep bag which is huge! I will certainly get all mine and the babys stuff in there. Last time my bag was quite small.Do you ever look back and think, why did i do that?
