Morning all.

You have my sympathies mrsy. I too am full of snot with bad back combo - not helped by walking miles yesterday and sleeping on blow up mattress at SIL's over the weekend.

I seem to have changed shape. My maternity jeans keep slipping down and this morning I have had to fashion myself a makeshift belt out of the leg of an old pair of tights. Blue peter genious it is, glamour it ain't ! Lucky I tend to go for a dress/tunic over jeans sort of look eh ?

I have a name for this little lady, but won't be announcing it until her arrival. DH thinks he likes it...he will like it in 7 weeks

Calico1 · 02/12/2008 10:42

Oh sorry you're feeling snotty today mrsy and laidback - it's no fun when even a lemsip is out of bounds. Hope GTT results are ok today mrsy. Go on laidback give us a clue with the name........

dinkystinky · 02/12/2008 11:02

Sending you a virtual whiskey-mach Mrsy: will put hairs on your chest and chase that lurgy away

Oh, and lots of virtual chocolate hob nobs (key cold fighting food)

DS went to a puppet show yesterday with his nanny and LOVED it - was all about the 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf. He was nicking socks out of our laundry hamper this morning to re-enact the show for us. I love that they're so expressive at this age.

Baby names - Daniel and Jack are the forerunners for first names (I love D and DH loves J but think 2 Js in the family may be pushing it) and still discussing indian middle names. Really love Nikhil but there are lots of other lovely ones out there too so have told DH to come up with a list he likes too and we'll discuss.

dinkystinky · 02/12/2008 11:03

Ooh, virtual hugs, booze and biccies to you too Laidback.

herbgarden · 02/12/2008 11:09

Snuggle under the duvets snotty ladies....it's the only way to go.

Nothing exciting happening here - work is v.unexciting.

We've chosen a girls name (same as last time but a boy appeared instead) and a boys name so hopefully we're sorted.

DS slept til nearly 7am this morning - typical as I had to get him to nursery and me to work. Why can't he do that at the weekend or on one of my days off !

calico - hopefully this is a phase and it'll pass by the time no2 arrives. Fingers crossed.

dinkystinky · 02/12/2008 11:15

Ps Calico - look on the bright side: you're going to be a pro at dealing with sleep deprivation when no 2 arrives; while everyone is complaining of feeling like death, you'll feel fine as your body will be conditioned to it.

Is obviously DS's way of getting you ready for his little sister/brother...

MarkStretch · 02/12/2008 11:18

Poor snotty ladies.

I am very fortunate in that I am working from home typing up very boring letters and updating spreadsheets, but it does mean that I can lounge on my lovely new sofa, drink tea and eat mince pies whilst I do so.

I'm hungry today. And tired, so tired. Feels rubbish being so tired seeing as how I don't even have a toddler to run about after but instead a capable and independent 6 yr old!

She is having a friend over for tea after school today and I have to make an application to her junior school for her to start next Sept. JUNIOR school, where does the time go?!

Oh and Dinky- loved your thread title, I think we should use that one!

littlesez · 02/12/2008 11:50

Im at home this morning too, work from home in the mornings wondering if ill be able to get out to teach later as the roads are solid ice, dont want to risk it? Hope the grit trucks come out later. Very very snowy in Manchester, looks beautiful but caused choas on the roads, my hubby got the bus to work and told me im not allowed to drive unless the ice thaws

Names, we have narrowed it down to Isabella and Gabrielle, but may just see when we meet her to decide.

Colds, my sympathies i have had cold few weeks ago it wipes you out i think more when your pregnant.

xxx

dinkystinky · 02/12/2008 12:12

LittleSez - definitely dont risk it on the roads if they're not gritted and you dont have to. Hate icy roads with a passion - just no idea what your car, or any other car, will do on them.

Markstretch - wow, a dd in junior school. Now that sounds grown up indeed.

Found out yesterday that one of my DH's best friends, who I dearly love to, is pregnant and due in June - they're over the moon (as are we) though she was complaining about the morning sickness and tiredness thing of the first 12 weeks - really didnt have the heart to tell her that the tiredness at least comes back in the last trimester...

mrsy · 02/12/2008 12:20

laidback, the tights/belt sounds uber-glamerous to me...sorry to hear you're not feeling 100% either, make sure to keep up fluids.

littlesez those names are lovely, would you use a shorterned version? Bella or Belle? or Izzy or Gabby? Make sure you listen to your man and not drive if it's icy, I think that's part of the reason John told me to stay at home today...

BTW, Edward Cullen fans, have you seen the fb group? I think it's like a support group for people who fall in love with ficticious vampires... Because of Edward Cullen, human boys have lost their charm

littleboyblue · 02/12/2008 13:36

Afternoon. Sorry to hear a few of you are unwell.
Ds was up all night too, he's really bad with the cough and snot, he's in bed now but keeps coughing, so don't know if he's actually getting any sleep, at least it's rest though. Put him down an hour ago as he looked like he was stoned, poor thing.

My materninty jeans keep falling down too and where I keep yanking them up quickly, there's big holes round the waist band for all to see when they dip a bit. But for the sake of 10 weeks, I don't care, it is annoying though.
Back is killing and tired from last night so could do with chillin in bed with some chocolate and a cuppa, but even though dp's at home, I'm still doing everything (!)

Christmas tree is now up and he did very well, he didn't swear or shout at me once, which was nice (just looked over at him and he's asleep on sofa, he's been in bed all night while I've been sitting on ds's bedroom floor, the cheeky f*er)

Anyway, waffle over.
Oh, Child benefit in today so know what that means, KFC big night in bucket!! So excited

herbgarden · 02/12/2008 13:56

hi all
can't remember but have some of you got those lovely memory foam mattresses? I think I remember on this thread some of you talking about them. I'm thinking of getting a "topper" as we can't justify getting rid of our mattress but just wondered if anyone has any tips as I have no idea ?! I can see them on the John Lewis website and various others but don't want to get a duff one...

dinkystinky · 02/12/2008 15:24

Cant remember who went for the memory foam mattress (pregnancy brain striking here too)

Anyone heard from TBM? Hope the growth scan went ok yesterday.

laidbackinengland · 02/12/2008 16:22

Oooh ohh it was me that had the memory foam mattress. I bought it from ebay for about £100 quid and it is so so comfy - really not worth spending £100's on one. I will try and find out who I bought it from... [wracks snotty pregnancy addled brain]..

MarkStretch · 02/12/2008 16:29

I borrowed a memory foam mattress topper from a friend.

We were impressed with it but when we saw the price of them in John Lewis we couldn't bear to part with our hard earned wedding vouchers!

I would get one if I could find them cheaper, my friend got hers for £25 on offer in Morrisons of all places

laidbackinengland · 02/12/2008 16:31

I am sharper than I thought !

It was one of these

this

Now I know the graphics look tacky - but honestly everyone who has slept in the bed says it is the best nights sleep they have had.

p.s. It's my guest bed rather than mine - I am not a wanton hussey swinger type. Well, not very often anyway.

laidbackinengland · 02/12/2008 16:32

Lbb - can recommend the 'tights as a belt concept' - my maternity jeans have stayed up all day. Just finishing off things at work today, only 5 working days to go .

pluto · 02/12/2008 16:44

I am going to go and try the tights as belt device now. My super-expensive Isabella Oliver jeans have never fitted and the skater look is not good on a woman of my age or pg condition.

Love the proposed title for the next thread.

No names, no nursery, no baby clothes, no hospital bag! Baby equipment came of loft last week. We checked what we had and put it all back again (no room). It's not really a denial thing - I just want something to do when mat leave starts and mid Feb still feels like aaaaages away.

I saw the MW last week. Baby is transverse as I had worked out anyway from the hard round lump of a head under my right rib-cage. Still has plenty of time to move though so not worried.

I think I'm going to ask DH to get me that matress for Xmas.

mslucy · 02/12/2008 16:46

Laidback, that looks lovely.
Forgive my addled brain, but do you put it on top of your normal bed or what?
I'm still managing to sleep ok (when my small human alarm clock doesn't go off at 5am) - haven't had the dead leg thing yet.

My main problem is heartburn - quite literally rampaging today. The extra hot, extra cheesy pizza I stuffed my faced with last night is wreaking its revenge....

Also feel my ribs are being prized apart - have finally given up and donned the over the shoulder boulder holder as my nice bras feel like they are cutting me in two.

Less hello boys, more don't fancy yours much

littleboyblue · 02/12/2008 16:59

Prob won't be on later as we have a few more episodes of The Tudors to watch. We're really enjoying it
Just wanted to say hope everything went ok for TBM if you're about later, will catch up with everyone tomorrow.

DUE 10 WEEKS TODAY!

mslucy · 02/12/2008 17:04

due 9 weeks tomorrow.
prob more like 8 weeks as having c-section.
Aarrrgh!

have no hospital bag, bought no baby clothes or equipment.

Have cotbed from DS but don't expect to use it much for first couple of months as little ones like being in bed with mummy.

would like to get some real nappies sorted but going to wait for after Xmas for that.

wishing TBM the best as ever.

dinkystinky · 02/12/2008 17:09

MsLucy - I feel your pain on the bra front -I used to have such lovely underwear - now I swear I could use my current bras for shopping bags - though whipping one off to use as a bag may cause some amusement in the local shopping centre Sorry to hear about the rampant heartburn - are you mainlining Gaviscon? Looking forward to getting some hot milk feeding bras once breastfeeding established and boobs have settled down again..

Markstretch - £25 for a memory foam mattress topper?? Mental note - must shop in Morrisons more...

littleboyblue · 02/12/2008 17:09

I'm waiting until the new year to wash baby clothes and pack hospital bag, also need to get ds out of cot before then so need to buy beds. Don't want too much to change for him when Luke arrives, so want him in a bed mid-jan at latest. Ideal world and all that.

mslucy · 02/12/2008 17:31

Luke is a lovely name.

I quite fancy a trip to Morrisons - they always have so many lovely cakes on special offer.

dribbles

DH is 35 on Fri and we're having a party for him on Sat.

I have spent a small fortune on cakes and other evil food stuffs - it will be a festival of fat and sugar (and fizzy wine for everyone else).
