MS- of course you're not alone - I sit and have long conversations with madam (usually along the lines of how silly/late/smelly/loud/boring/funny-peculiar Daddy is or how lovely/kind/pretty/generous/interesting/funny-ha-ha Mummy is!)

Saw a lovely dark brown bear-fleece all in one thing in Mothercare - but think we will go for the lighter one, partly because of sick and partly because we have a black pushchair/car seat and a chocolate brown sling, and baby will just look like a floating head if she's in dark stuff...

Adding a newbie to the list - longtime lurker!

laidbackinengland · 26/11/2008 14:10

Welcome (officially) Staceysmum and sorky !

nadssss · 26/11/2008 14:14

Are other people using lavender essential oil on their bods? Surely there is no problem with that, is there?

dinkystinky · 26/11/2008 14:45

Nadsss - are you using it straight or in a carrier oil? If in a carrier oil, I think its ok. Lavendar is good for healing post birth too and a few drops on pillow can help with sleep. Dont think they recommend using it neat though as may stimulate too much. Other oils which are good afterwards are comfrey (few drops in jug of warm water while you're weeing if you have episiotomy/stitches).

Welcome Staceysmum.

dinkystinky · 26/11/2008 14:50

Ps Markstretch - even wierder than realising you're not alone is the realisation that you're growing a willy inside of you

littleboyblue · 26/11/2008 15:03

Hahahahaha dinky that's made me laugh.

I talk to mine as well, mostly to tell him to quite shaking and leave me alone for a minute!

Seriously though, when I was preg with ds I started referring to myself as us and we etc. My friends thought I was mad. Dp called me one afternoon to ask where I was (nosey bugger) and I said "we're on the bus" and he said "who's we", "me and the baby" says I, "who's baby" says he, "our baby". Men are soooooo blardy thick, well mine is.

Back is much better today, but I haven't got dressed yet, just about to take ds over to the park for a little go on the slide so no doubt will be feeling it when we get back.
Hello newbies

nadssss · 26/11/2008 15:06

I was just going to add a few drops to my almond oil at home and rub it on (then try it neat on the pillow etc) ? good I will do it, thanks ? thought it must be okay. I must have sleep ? an awful lots of turning from side to side and moaning to my poor DH

dinkystinky · 26/11/2008 15:11

Do the drops on your pillow or a few drops in a warm bath first Nadsss - you may find that's all you need to relax and get you off to sleep.

KT1983 · 26/11/2008 15:16

Hello again - Just got back from teaching a bloody Aerobics class...Getting very sick of it now - Role on Christmas time

Was going to say about the sleep thing - Im having great difficulty too, tossing & turning etc.
Ive a lavendar bath oil & body lotion at home that ive never used, so might try that out tonight & see if it helps a bit

KT1983 · 26/11/2008 15:19

Oh & Hello & Welcome new Fab Febbers

sorkycake · 26/11/2008 15:42

I find waking Dh up to tell him I can't sleep does wonders for my morale. I don't see why I should have to do all the work.

Last night, whilst having heartburn in the only comfortable position I could find, I felt agrieved that he was so fast asleep that I sat up and shouted "quick the baby's done a poo and it's leaked in the bed",
then I turned the light on, faked sleepy confusion and apologised for waking him.

I felt much better after that

PinkTulips · 26/11/2008 15:46

grrr. pc ate my post again and my poor addled brain can't remember what i said (clearly riveting stuff altogether if i can't remember a word )

hello newcomers that list is getting long again isn't it?!

i think i must be better.... i've started craving massive quantities of chocolate again

littleboyblue · 26/11/2008 16:53

sorky you are so mean!! How funny

PT Glad you're feeling better. I've just bought a big bar of chocolate myself, saving it for when ds goes to bed so I don't have to share it.

Back is much better today. I need to learn to calm myself down.

nadssss · 26/11/2008 17:02

Sorky that is very funny! I have had so many 3 am (and 2am and 5am and so on) chats with my DH in the last few weeks ? generally me being a total bitch because I have a stone and a half sitting on my tummy and just heff around the bed trying to get comfy?and then the moaning about being bunged up, nose bleeds etc GRIM! Poor us.

I find actually getting up and pottering about the flat helps ? I always sleep better afterwards if I go back to bed and sort of prop myself up. I can?t believe it is only going to get worse too!

onwardandoutward · 26/11/2008 17:15

lol at sorky's fake sleep talking.

Lying on my side with pillow between my knees and another one behind my back is the favoured position at the moment. Well, either that or using another human being for the back pillow part . Can get really pretty comfy that way. Left side more comfy than right.

Oh, and I forgot to say earlier: I had my curry early (last night), so to make up for anticipating the Thursday curry night moment, I will do penance by going out for a curry next Tuesday as well

idontbelieveit · 26/11/2008 17:30

hello everybody. I have missed loads again! Hope you're all ok and welcome to new thread members. I'm getting as big as a house but feeling ok, will catch up witht the thread and try to post later on.

sorkycake · 26/11/2008 17:35

Is anyone else having nosebleeds? what's that all about?

onwardandoutward · 26/11/2008 17:44

Every single day in my last pregnancy, Sorky, but I've hardly had nosebleeds at all this time, or only when I have a cold anyway. Don't know what causes it - can't be high blood pressure because mine is somewhere between normal and so low I'm clinically dead.

sorkycake · 26/11/2008 17:51

hmm maybe it's related to low blood pressure then because mine hasn't got above 90/60 yet.

mumoverseas · 26/11/2008 18:19

hi all, just checking in briefly, hope all ok.
DH flew back to KSA this morning til 16th December so the next few weeks will be a nightmare! DD diagnosed yesterday as having a bad ear infection and today is full of cold with a terrible chesty cough. Never rains! Just taking her for bath and bed now and think I might join her

winemakesmummyclever · 26/11/2008 18:46

I started with nosebleeds a couple of months ago. Asked dh about it as thought I was slowly exsanguinating (drama queen - moi?).

Apparently, it's all due the increased blood supply putting additional pressure on the v delicate but v vascular area in your nose. Plus, stuffed up noses, colds and the like just make you want to blow your nose more, thus rupturing (eek!) the stressed little blood vessels.

Very common and nothing to worry about, unless of course you are hosing blood all the time (which should be checked out). Still, it's not a nice thing to wake up to most mornings is it?

eejaykay · 26/11/2008 18:50

Hi all, I'd say a brief check in but it's taken an hour to catch-up on everyones messages. Hello to Sophstar and Sorkycake and Stacysmum and Pinkbabybump and I've missed someone, haven't I?

See a few of you at curry tomorrow; been reading with fascination about slings etc. We were hoping to get away with a car seat / sling / from birth pushchair and skip the pram thing completely but I dunno if that's a good idea? All I've bought so far is a digital thermometer and a cute lampshade. Clearly very responsible purchasing.

Keep well everyone, or for those under the weather, hope you're better soon, will try adn keep in touch a bit more!

rosieposey · 26/11/2008 19:48

Hello to the newbies and congrats

Ok epic hospital day over and done with which im glad about - have had three nosebleeds today so am going to the doctors this week to have my right nostril cauterized as it happens at least once a day now.

Everyone prepared for Christmas yet? I havent actually bought anything yet and i was going to do it all online but i think i might be being a bit optimistic Oh well ... Im intending to make this one a quieter one than usual ... will definately be alot more sober anyway!
