MerryMarigold · 17/11/2008 14:10

haven't heard anything...keep checking my phone but no news...sorry. hope she didn't have to go into hosp in the end. had fingers crossed for a lovely homebirth experience.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 17:10

where is everybody?

chocolategal · 17/11/2008 17:14

i know!!! its very quiet on here!
everyone is off having or had their babies!!
hmph hmph!!

hoping for news soon from sparkle or monkeym tho...

twinkle183 · 17/11/2008 17:37

Am back from my lovely massage and I suggest you go and get one done! I am so relaxed its unbelievable, I had my legs, back and neck done and all for a £10 for an hour... baragin huh!!!

I am guessing by the thread that there is not alot of us left is there?? No word from Monkey or Sparkle - I hope that no news is good news and that they are both okay????

Am busy eating some pineapple, lets hope that I am next but am not counting my chickens!!!

barbareebaa · 17/11/2008 17:53

Hello
I'm just lurking and watching for news of more babies!

twinkle Sounds like a lovely afternoon! Would be interested to hear if the pineapple does anything. I'm not doing anything to encourage things to get started (unless excessive chocolate consumption helps??)

Did go out to the library with dh this afternoon (exciting stuff, I know ) and had all kinds of tightenings and pricklings but it all stopped when we got home (no suprise)

Question Do you think I should buy some formula incase I have a bf problem? What has everyone else done?

And, having had no experience of babies at all, how does anyone know what to do?? Have borrowed a book that suggests routines and feel slightly enlightend but is everyone going with the flow or what?

Am not starting to panic or anything much !

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 17:54

Can't believe it's only the middle of November and most of the babies are here already!

Post natal is even quieter as everyone is off being busy with their newborns.

If only mine didn't sleep all day.......he might sleep at night.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 18:00

barbs, if you feel comfortable having formula as a back up then go for it, but bear in mind you can always send DH out for some cartons and bottles if you need to.

I've always been of the "let them find their own routine" school of thought. some babies thrive in routine and if they do they will slot into one quicker. DS1 very quickly fell into a regular feeding pattern and I could set my clock by him from about two weeks old. He also had dropped a night feed by then and I was getting six hours at a stretch. DD had sorted herself out by about six weeks. DS2 I can see taking a leetle bit longer

twinkle183 · 17/11/2008 18:01

barbareebaa I brought some formula and some bottles just incase, but I haven't with this one as its my 3rd.. my first I couldn't bf cos I had two pints of blood and it dried my milk up but managed to bf until dd was 10 months old... so it depends on how you feel but I would get some nipple cream just incase and don't be nervous just persist but don't feel pressured!! Just relax and your be fine.....

SpringySunshine · 17/11/2008 18:04

I don't know about you lot, but I'm getting impatient waiting for all of the cute baby pictures that are yet to come!

Ooh, so envious! I hope you're all okay - I'm sending happy vibes to all of you, still pregnant or not

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 18:07

I had some in with DD as things hadn't gone that well with DS1 and I stopped at about 6 weeks, and tbh we did give her some as a one off so that I could get a decent rest as my MH wasn't great (it hadn't been during my whole pregnancy) and the sleeplessness was getting to me.

I haven't bothered this time either but we do have bottles and stuff. I very nearly sent DH out for some last weekend when Fin's mouth and my boobs were sore.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 18:09

and agree with twinkle that having some lansinoh in is an absolute must as pretty much everyone goes through a period of sore nipples while you get the latching sorted.

chocolategal · 17/11/2008 18:13

barbs i have some bottles and formula at back of cupboard incase of emergencies. my DH would be useless if he was sent out to get it on his own!

twinkle am very of your lovely massage

daisy i know, i cant believe all these early babies! i bet it feels like you have had Finlay home for ages now!?

I have some bottles but I haven't got any formula. Was wondering whether I should buy some to put in my hospital bag - ?? Just have visions of struggling in the middle of the night in hospital - would the mws give me formula to use? I don't want to get into trouble cos they might not be happy to give it out and I don't want my lo to be hungry. God I really have no idea how this works...

i do have some nipple cream - my friend tells me it is generally painful when you get started but does sort itself after a week or so. So I'm kind of expecting it to be tricky to begin but do intend to persevere!!

I think I probably will be more go with the flow but was interested to see how a day could pan out iyswim. But I suppose you are kind of putting pressure on yourself if you try to follow a routine and it doesn't go to plan.

ceebee74 · 17/11/2008 18:33

I can't believe I have been out all afternoon and still no news......

Barbs the hospital provide little bottles of formula if you decide you need/want it so don't worry about taking any with you. As for routines - it suits some people (i.e. me and Dozy) and not others (i.e. Hana) so I guess it is what you are comfortable with. Although I didn't instigate a routine with DS until he was about 2 weeks old and even then, I just did a 3-hourly feeding routine (he was ff so easier) and let naps etc fit round that - it wasn't long before he found his own routine.

Twinkle the massage sounds lovely - after the afternoon I have had, I could definitely do with one!!

Have spent all afternoon at the hospital for a routine pre-op appointment! They kept me waiting for an hour before I got to see a MW, then another hour before I got to see a doctor, then I had to see the MW again before I eventually got out. Then I had to pick up my drugs from the pharmacy which had another 30 minute wait before finally getting back to the car at 5pm when all the hospital staff were leaving and therefore it took me 20 minutes to get off the carpark......grrr! I am so glad that DH was working from home and could look after DS as there is no way I could have taken him with me.

Anyway, am chilled now

chocolategal · 17/11/2008 18:34

barbs the MW in the hosp would give you formula if you were really struggling, they wouldnt see you upset or baby hungry, so try not to worry about that.

as for the routine thing i am very much just going to wait and see and go with the flow...

chocolategal · 17/11/2008 18:36

ceebee bet your glad thats over with!!
AND it is another step closer to you having baby here

barbareebaa · 17/11/2008 18:46

Wow Ceebee - you've had and afternoon and a half!! Are you going in on Thursday? Not long to wait!

thanks for all the advice about formula - just have nightmare vision of nasty mws and power trips with vulnerable (sp) first time mothers... I have met a few so far who don't seem to be able to raise a smile, kind of business like and not friendly.

Rosa · 17/11/2008 18:54

Barbs Aloe Vera pure gel is great if you get cracked / sore nipples - I found it better than Lanisoh to be honest : ceebee crikey you could have had the baby and have been home for tea with all that time spent in the hosp !!!

sparkletoes · 17/11/2008 18:55
