I'm having real difficulty typing cos i've just put nail extensions on....

I'll be back from Venice on Tuesday. I'll miss you all! Setting off first thing

lua - thanks for that link - I'll have a good look at it when I get back.

MrsW - thanks for your view on waterbirths - I didn't think anyone would not feel comfortable with one, so it's been a relevation today. Thanks for checking on Scraggy!

Uwila - I'd be expecting the nanny to hand her notice in? don't you think she will?

Trib - good luck tomorrow!

See you later!

uwila · 17/03/2005 08:29

Morning everyone, just dropping in quickly while ds is momentarily entertaining himself.

What's the nanny done now Uwila? Honestly it sounds like living with a particularly interfering MIL.

Got on the scales this morning and omg, am starting to pile it on in the last 2 weeks. Not sure how much is baby and how much is that I am constantly ravenous, hmm, will have to try to curb that a bit with still 12 weeks to go.

Have awarded myself an afternoon in the shops while ds is at nursery today, have been working really hard this week and have got lots done, so I think it's time for some new make-up (no point buying clothes) and maybe some shoes.

Right, time to go, ds has gone a bit too quiet. Have nice days everyone.

mrsflowerpot · 17/03/2005 08:57

Just spotted that today is the day for your dbro, Trib, lots of good vibes from me.

Morning all!

Trib, keeping fingers crossed for your DB today.

Lynny, sorry you've been feeling so rough over the last couple of days.

MrsF, A couple of weeks ago I put on half a stone in about 3 days, but it seems to have slowed down again. So perhaps it's just going on in fits and starts (I bloody hope so anyway!).

Had a phone call from my doctor yesterday - apparently I have low iron levels and she wants me to take iron tablets. Is anyone else doing this? I'm a bit worried because she mentioned constipation as a side effect. Are there any foods I could eat that would help? Doesn't dark chocolate have lots of iron in? Ah ha! More brownies, that might do it...

red meat of course has iron. So does spinach. And vitamin c helps the body to absorb the iron. So spinach and a glass of orange juice is a god combination (and shouldn't cause any constipation)...

My iron is just into the normal range, and I love meat and spinach. So, I gather ir must be very common for iron to go too low.

Nothing new with nanny really. Same old defiance but it is increasingly send me out the door fuming mad. This morning she came downstairs and said good morning to me, very cheery to DD as always. And I swear not 30 seconds later I heard her say to DD "Toast?". I thought oh you bloody cheek I'm not even out the door!!

So, there comes a point when I need to say good-bye before it drives me bonkers. And, I also think all of this stress is probably not good for little Alex.

I did howver dress DD in a very cute little Oshkosh dress for the day. It's far too cute for nanny to approve of. Ha ha...

At the risk of sounding like a complete freak, I am considering getting up early tomorrow and giving DD an egg before nanny starts work. Or, perhaps I'll save it for Monday.

I'm coming round to the conclusion that it is going to do me in if I keep her in my house for another two months and then make her redundant. So, I think I need to organise having someone else in the house to supervise from the time she is given notice until she leaves. DH's brother might be willing. I'll have to talk to him.

Morning everyone

Have missed a days chat, glossed through, but found it pretty impossible to pick up much except a few things;

The Nanny Saga continues

Charley has gone to Venice

Today is an important day for Trib's brother

Good luck to your brother Trib. It's very sad that if it is bad news from the hospital, it means double bad news if they then can't adopt as a result As if dealing with cancer isn't going to be hard enough. I hope it goes ok.

Lynny,
I'm not sure but I think it's normal for little forceful kicks to turn to thugs whe baby starts to run out of room.

Lua · 17/03/2005 10:32

Morning all!

Trib, more good vibes to your brother!

I haven't tried DH tens machine, and I didn't know there were some than are not appropriate for labour.... Do you know what is the difference?

MrsW. If you must take tablets, and can't stomach prunes, you can try dried apricots and apples. They are more palatable in my opinion and do similar trick....

Linny, it makes sense that you are feeling thumps in the back end if baby is breached.... because there is where little feets are....

I do think you have lots of time to wait for baby change on its own, but you can always encourage it.... My baby was transverse for ever, and I have been spending as much time as I can in my fours at night, rocking hips and contracting and relaxing belly. I think it worked for me, because it feels totally different now. I'll confirm if it did work this friday when I have a scan and let you know.

I think I am going to refer to her as nanny thug from now on.

redheadmum · 17/03/2005 11:16

morning all

have just skimmed the chat, as I'm meant to be WORKING...

thanks for all the good wishes. My MW appt actually went well....she was a bit frosty at first but fine once we settled in and very supportive of a home birth and water birth too if I want it (what was that about water births? missed that one) She just said I may have to go to hospital, depending what happens with the baby's kidney on the next scan.

Is anyone getting sick of people commenting on their bump? I'd forgotton how much this happens. The woman at Tesco yesterday assured me I was having a girl because 'I'd spread round the sides' (methinks that's just fat from last time)

the woman at Sainsbury's happily asked me when I was due...she was shocked that it was June....'you're soo big' ...GRRRR

Uwila - I see nannygate continues - when does that woman go? you need to get that stress out of your life!

Charley - have a good time in Venice you lucky girl...

Trib - hope all goes well for your bro

uwila · 17/03/2005 11:22

I thought it was chocolate that causes you to spread round the sides. It cracks me up when people say, oh it must be a girl because... I just say, well if it then it has three legs according to the scan.
