Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lardybump · 28/10/2008 17:33

Hi to everyone else. I am having a really bad day today. So tired and fed up. DP is working all hours so I am looking after dd all day on my own and trying to work and look after her on my own all evening as well. What with being up most of the night with her being ill, I am at my wits end. She is winging all the bloody time as well which is testing to say the least (I know she is ill and I do really feel for her but I just have no patience at the moment) .. She has just knocked over my drink and I have just screamed at her not just a little shout but a psycho scream. She is sobbing her heart out in her room now. And I am crying my eyes out at the computer. I really hate to admit it but for a split second there I was so angry I almost lashed out.

What is happening to me I am her mummy for gods sake, how could I scream at her like that over a spilt drink, and how on earth could I lose my temper and feel that angry with someone who I would die for. I feel like a terrible mum and a terrible person.....

herbgarden · 28/10/2008 17:52

Ooh Lardybump don't be hard on yourself. We all feel like this sometimes [a lot of the time]...you aren't a bad mummy, just a human one who's a bit tired and a bit fed up and a bit pregnant hormonal. Maybe go and give her a nice quiet cuddle and then take tomorrow as another day.....

herbgarden · 28/10/2008 18:00

I'm all for carpets in bedrooms and "flooring" elsewhere. I'm very allergic to housedust mites etc so the non-carpet option is better for me but it is pretty drafty if you've got sanded floorboards (rather than, say, flooring which "floats" on top). We saw some lovely almost white stained wooden flooring at the weekend - very swedish style and I was quite tempted by it for when we ever get our kitchen/living room built....I can but dream.

We're finally having our new carpets put down in a couple of weeks Yay !! I can finally get rid of the swirly brown stuff on our stairs and landing which greets me every night and the slightly worn green stuff in the bedrooms - hopefully the old granny smell which emanates through my house might go with it !...

I'm hoping that DH might get enthusiastic this weekend and lay the "slate look" laminate which I bought for our dining room - there's a temporary carpet down there at the moment which already has food mushed in it by ds - it's a hopeless combo isn't it food/toddler/carpet

lardybump · 28/10/2008 18:01

Thanks HG. We are having cuddles now and I have given her a jammy dodger so I think she forgives me. I am going to give her a bath now so will be back in a bit.....

Right feeling a little better now. Here is hoping for a better night tonight, and a better day tomorrow.

If I wasn't pregnant today would be a wine day for sure

mrsy · 28/10/2008 19:20

lardy...that's all you can do, I think.

chilledmama · 28/10/2008 20:09

TBM-If you're planning to go for a babywearing coat just make sure you don't get my family to put it together for you

TinkerBellesMum · 28/10/2008 20:21

My family will tell me off if I buy one! They think babywearing is too hard on my back, but I use a wrap which is the best way for me to get baby around the way my back is. I didn't have the strength in my back to push a pushchair, I'd have to take her out the carseat and put it over my shoulder when we got out the car.

I've just found a kindercoat on ebay for £25 but it's XXL

chilledmama · 28/10/2008 20:39

and they are generous sizes!! I'm probably around a 14-16, am 5'5" and the medium fits over my bump without any of the inserts!!
I have a beko for on the back and have just bought a Moby for when DD arrives...I used a wilkinet last time when DS was little but moby much better! I've borrowed loads of diferent types...my friend is an addict and has had so many different types that I've taken advantage

MarkStretch · 28/10/2008 22:00

Lardy- sorry to hear you are having a hard time. Hope you are feeling better

I have had a fun night.

We went to the pamper evening and drank Pimms and flitted about from stall to stall like ladies.

We booked hair appointments for Saturday which have 50% off so I get a £30 haircut for £15! Woo!

Then I met a nice lady who has a lovely cottage in the North Norfolk countryside which I may try and persuade DH to take me to for my 30th after Xmas for our last bit of childfree time....

The only downside was my friend drove us......and reversed into a car in the car park! Luckily there was no damage but it happened to me AGAIN?!?!

swampster · 29/10/2008 00:14

I know EXACTLY how you feel, lardy . Bloody hormones = screaming banshees!!!

Keep out of cars MS!

I have a lovely bloke who my mum found in a salon in Chelsea some years back. He comes round to my house and cuts my hair - VERY nicely I think, even though I am a scary hairy swamp monster - at a knock-down price (between 20 and 30 squid depending on his mood) then does the boys for FREE. Plus great conversation AND he is cute, too! All being shorn on Friday...

swampster · 29/10/2008 00:17

Have ordered some itti bitti d'lish for DS2

swampster · 29/10/2008 00:24

Oh, no! I killed this thread

again

[hgri n]

swampster · 29/10/2008 00:24

, even!!!

mumoverseas · 29/10/2008 03:40

morning all, another early morning here! woke up with really bad cold/flu which is bloody stupid as its still around 32 degrees here in the day. How can I get a bloody cold! Counting the days now til back to the real world, my own car to drive, shops not closing every half hour for prayer, BACON! DH and I had a serious discussion last night and think we've sort of agreed to return to the UK permanently next summer! mixed feelings but think the time is right.
so sorry so many of you are having a hard time. Lardybump, know exactly how you feel, my DD aged 2 drives me to distraction 99% of the time now and much as I love her I could throttle her. Must be the hormones/lack of sleep making us like this.
Hope you all have a good day with no coughs/colds/vomiting and car crashes! Oh, and most importantly, I hope you all have a lie in and don't get to read this for HOURS!

MarkStretch · 29/10/2008 08:47

SWAMPY did you get snow?

KT1983 · 29/10/2008 08:48

Good Morning ladies, just reading through all the posts and thought id say hello on this wintery morning. Anyone had any snow?
Hope your all doing well?

My morning a bit of a disaster so far- bank cards and credit cards have all been cloned for over £300, some done in Sri Lanka, some done in Canada??? how the hell do these people do it?

So my savings for the bean are being eaten into now until I can claim my money back.

I was also meant to start work at 7am and open the gym up, but I assumed I was on a 8am start, so got here at 7.40 to a group of very angry exercise addicts that were not pleased that they were waiting around
My excuse is : THE TUBE BROKE!!
London can be good sometimes

swampster · 29/10/2008 09:05

No snow in my swamp today. But my monsters have been up and loud from the wee hours and I am REALLY PISSED OFF with them!!!

dinkystinky · 29/10/2008 09:10

Ok - mega post as have now caught up on last night's posts....

It snowed in Queens Park last night KT (and I was promised when I moved to London that it never snows in London, that's twice this year already!) - DS was v excited to see the snow this morning (probably explains the 6am start! He cried "Its christmas" - bless him). Not enough for a snowman but got a few snow balls out of the table in our back garden.. DH got home early last night and spent half an hour with DS carving an enormous pumpkin that our neighbours gave us into a Jack o'lantern for Halloween - it is now officially DS's favourite toy! Sorry to hear about your cards being cloned KT - its happened to me a few times but the bank is always great at refunding it all, so you will get your cash back soon. Here's hoping your day gets better from here on in...

Lardybump - you're pregnant and hormonal and tired and overworked, not a bad mum at all! Honestly, things that dont phase me at all normally about DS (like his eating, or lack thereof) have me crying and wailing like a banshee at present - even though I know its counterproductive and does no one any good in the long run! Your DD has forgiven you, you just need to forgive yourself now - make sure you take a litlte bit of time out for you (if you can) at some point - read a magazine, have a nice bath or just do your nails - always helps to regain sanity.

Herbgarden - so exciting about your new carpets arriving. DH is unsurprisingly cr*p at all things DIY-like (though is now thinking of becoming a professional pumpkin carver if this whole investment banker thing doesnt work out) so v envious of your DH being able to do stuff around the house, when he eventually gets round to it. We're getting new windows put in our bedroom before the baby arrives with any luck and am ridiculously excited about it (the sash windows in there at present are single glazed and really drafty and let ALL the noise from the street we face on to in - honestly sounds like we have people in with us half the night) - how tragic my life has become.

MsLucy - all I've bought for no 2 is a couple of pairs of socks in a sale so far, so am with you on holding out for the January bargains (babygap generally have lots of lovely stuff with loads knocked off in January so have suggested to my mum they give me a few gap vouchers for xmas so I can kit out no2).

Markstretch - move away from the car, right now Your pamper fair sounds lovely!

Mumoverseas - sorry you have a cold. Remember, lots of fluids (particularly in that hot country) and take it easy and hopefully will pass soon. V exciting that you've set a sort of date on returning to the UK - does sound like living over there is hard work. Bet you'll be even more excited about it after your trip back to the UK soon.

Bloodredtulips - I cant believe your heating is still on the blink! Can you not get another person round to fix it (instead of silly man who crippled himself)? Its been over a month now hasnt it?! Really feel for you hon.

Swampster - your hairdresser sounds a bargain! Our old neighbour (also a hairdresser) cuts DS's hair for £5 a pop (and we always get coffee and biscuits and a good long natter thrown in) but as she's a friend, have never got her to cut my hair (as would feel too weird - much prefer anyone touching me, apart from DH, for haircuts, dentist appointments, etc to be a total stranger - probably v odd).

OP posts:
herbgarden · 29/10/2008 09:11

Snow here ! It's a very very crisp and cold morning - but the rain followed by snow followed by cold night have made it all v.slippy on the roads and pavements.

be careful out in those cars ladies please !

mslucy · 29/10/2008 09:18

KT
I had a card cloning thing done about a year ago - it was really freaky.
Nothing as exotic as Canada or Sri Lanka - my thieves went on a shopping spree in Ipswich.
I've also had chequebooks stolen in the post - that was a nightmare as I had a firm of bailiffs after me for cashing dud cheques!

We had snow last night in Kentish Town but it's gone now.

Will definitely go and get a pumpkin this morning - carving them is great fun.

DS woke at 6:40 so I am not a psycho this morning!

MarkStretch · 29/10/2008 09:18

No snow in Norfolk

We are still in bed though. I brought a pot of tea up and so far everyone has worn the tea cosy on their head.

God I LOVE not being at work.

More work on the house today, DH and Dad managed to do half of the power to the shed yesterday so today they are finishing that and chopping up the computer desk to make a little mini office in an alcove downstairs.

Haven't bought much baby stuff at all really, but have just noticed the bedside cot I want has got £30 off in Mothercare so we'll be ordering that soon!

Today I am making sausage rolls and casserole with dd. Did I mention I LOVE not being at work?

MarkStretch · 29/10/2008 09:20

And another vote here for carpets upstairs and laminate downstairs.

KT- bastards! Can you claim it all back?
