you could look at it as a perfect opportunity to spend more time on mumsnet! Mind you, I've obviously got too much time on my hands as I'm getting obsessed with some threads!

dinkystinky · 03/11/2008 16:32

Markstretch - why not ask your new service manager first for the jobs you can do at home and if she's stumped, suggest you ask the area manager as she's probably had to deal with similar situations previously. Make it clear that you still want to be a worthwhile contributor to the team and am sure will all be fine.

Herbgarden - I had exactly that problem previously (re thinking, must sleep is x o'clock etc.) so keeping my fingers crossed it helps you too.

KT - I have a pregnancy pilates dvd at home (got it 3 years ago now though) - is someone Robinson I think who does it. Have a look on Amazon or search mumsnet for pilates and yoga dvd threads (as have seen a couple on here).

Mumoverseas, do you watch the FOOC threads? They are some of the best ever and you'd be an ace correspondent.

Here is the new FOOC thread.

Herb, your DH needs a good kicking .

MarkStretch, you need to twiddle your thumbs and chat to me more .

spottyshoes · 03/11/2008 17:54

Arrgghh Mondays are just horrendous. and other un-MN-like-stuff to everyone having such horrible days!

My DH deserves a kicking too for being so totally self absorbed and up his own arse and leaving me to struggle with EVERYTHING

MS If you ask at least you have made an effort and if you do end up twiddling it wont be your fault and you can MN guilt free! Not long to go now anyway I'm not getting new cases but am covering Court Duty, any Reports we get in and office based appts if People are sick which suits me as I'm on serious wind down now

mrsy · 03/11/2008 19:20

Aaargh - Monday's are crap! I had my boss gently tick me off for being defensive on the phone last week (when I was sworn at I hasten to add) & suggest that I pass calls onto colleagues if I feel I can't handle them, and then picked up on the fact that I burst into tears twice, and wanted to know why (which made me nearly cry again) so that was not a fun hour.

That said, John, his mum, my mum and I had an amazing hour this morning staring at bumpsie, so the day started well, and as John collected me from work so I didn't drive home in horrid fog and rain, and I got home to an almost completly freshly paintd sitting room, it looks like it's finishing well!

Sorry to hear of all the rubbish people have been getting - hope things get better tomorrow.

spottyshoes · 04/11/2008 06:49

Morning!!!! It's no longer Monday - yay!

Thanks to a bit of accrued over time I now only have 12 working days until baby leave - hooooraaaaaaaaay! Hopefully if I keep that in mind it will make getting through the working day a bit more bearable today!

My baby boy is going Xmas shopping for me today so I'm just about to write a nice big list and will hide it on him somewhere his daddy will find it!

Hope everyone has a better day today x

MarkStretch · 04/11/2008 08:10

Wow we were quiet last night.

Were we all in bed?

Big chat with manager today, let's see what they decide to do with me!

Will report back......................

Have a good day everyone!

herbgarden · 04/11/2008 08:42

good luck MS - hope you have a successful chat with your manager and find something that you can do.....

Not sure about anyone else but I was in bed by 9 !......

Downloaded some meditation stuff onto itunes last night....and managed to sleep through til my human 5.15am alarm clock ! I feel semi-normal today.

Have a good day everyone.

Calico1 · 04/11/2008 09:10

Can anyone remind me if it is ok to take any cold/ cough medication? I think paracetamol is ok? Had a horrid night coughing till 4.30am when DS woke up, so have had no sleep. DH suggested that I sleep on the sofa so I didn't wake him too (thanks for the sympathy)! Supposed to be working from home today but feeling too full of snot to do anything.

swampster · 04/11/2008 09:34

Paracetamol is fine, but not much else. Loads of hot drinks = very good. I am streaming today and so is DS2.

laidbackinengland · 04/11/2008 09:55

Ms ...why don't you suggest to do everyone's Christmas shopping online for them ? I would like that !

Calico and swampy...you have my sympathies .I am 7 weeks into a cough/cold/sinusitus that I just can't shift . It is such a PITA . I have been making myself ginger and honey drinks in the evening and taking paracetamol when I am feeling really shit. It is not fun .

I have my GTT tomorrow and seeing the midwife again, so that means generally loitering around the GP's surgery for 3 hours and spreading my germs around a bit further !

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday !

laidbackinengland · 04/11/2008 10:01

Where is TBM ? , she wasn't on yesterday. Hoping everything OK with you ?

dinkystinky · 04/11/2008 10:47

Calico - take spoonfuls of manuka honey (really thick) - coats your throat and reduces the coughing. I use it for DS and for me (DH refuses to use it and uses the drugs instead). Also, hot water, lemon, ginger and honey good for soothing sore throats.

Good luck for your chat today Markstretch.

Spotty - so jealous. I'm working till 31 January!

OP posts:
Calico1 · 04/11/2008 11:31

Thanks guys - I like the idea of the honey cough remedy. Coughing not good for the current bladder weakness!

PinkTulips · 04/11/2008 11:43

i'm really losing the ability to keep up with this thread! still too cold to sit at the pc for more than a few seconds (heating still not working, can't get in contact with rental agents... am going to have to drive out to their office 20 miles away later if i can't get them by phone as it's getting intolerable)

dinky, so sorry you had a crash as well.... she sounds like a total idiot, i hope you don't have trouble claiming from the insurance if she's going to lie about what happened. glad you're all ok though, that's the important thing.

woo hoo..... paused my typing to ring a number i found online for the agents and got through to them.... the messages i'd been leaving on her voicemail hadn't been going through (crazily bad phone reception so i thought that might have been the case) and she's sending a plumber out asap.... we might have heat soon!

dinkystinky · 04/11/2008 11:58

Yay, Pinktulips - will keep my fingers crossed that the plumber fixes the heating for you.

Thanks for your kind words re the crash - she was an idiot - and think she's realised it was all her fault as she's not replied to any of the 3 messages DH has left her now, confirming that we need to have her insurance details from her. As we have her drivers licence details and her car reg no may need to pass it over to the police if she doesnt get back to us by close of play today...

OP posts:
mrsy · 04/11/2008 12:26

Dinky - hope you get some results one way or another (it might work out best if she doesn't do it voluntarily, it doesn't look good, does it?)

PT - fingers crossed you warm up soon - I hope you're layoured up!

MS - hope it went well with the new manager.

Calico - Holland and Barret have got one of their deals on Manuka honey at the moment. It really is good stuff. Think most limsippy stuff is okay as it is paracetamol based.

laidback - hope the GTT/doctor's thing goes well.

Possible TMI alert:

I had a lovely night's sleep, but awoke feeling rather 'ahem' randy! John awoke very quickly when I whispered this to him (surprise surprise - it's been a rather dry few months for him!) and then as we got to the good bit bumpsie started kicking, and it totally put me off. I know it's safe to do, but has anyone else found this an issue? I feel very strange as a (soon-to-be) mother having these urges at all, especially when I think that my hormones are crossing into her system - don't want to think of my 6 month fetus feeling randy, and I got the feeling that her kicking was a negative reaction to the activity.

It's been about the only time that I've felt up for anything like this recently, and we both rather sprang into action, and the idea that we'll be waiting at least another 6-odd months is not good.

Any suggestions?

mslucy · 04/11/2008 12:44

mrsy

at the risk of tmi, my dh has been extremely enthusiastic in this department of late.

We took ages to conceive this child and it made the act a bit of a chore at times.

Now it's all pleasure and no business.

With dc1 I lost interest after about 5 months, but at the moment, I'm all for it.

It's totally safe and since your sex life will be a bit rubbish for a few months after the birth, you might as well go for it.

I think you've just got to put any weird thoughts out of your head and enjoy the moment.

mumoverseas · 04/11/2008 12:44

hi all, still shivering still in Saudi! Don't understand how 2 days ago it was 35 degrees and we were sitting by the pool and now its 18 degrees (or less) and pouring with rain? Preparing me for the UK I guess!

dinky - you should report the crazy woman to the police and get a crime number/accident number as otherwise, if she doesn't reply to your calls you will have problems with your insurance.

swampster -thanks for cheering me up, so like being called ace instead of unpleasant! Will look into that thread although I suspect if I write the truth about saudi no one will want to come here!

laidbackinengland · 04/11/2008 12:46

Mrsy I think it is normal to get kicked by baby whilst having sex....I always get a hammering after I orgasm (sorry if TMI) - I dont think they like the contractions of the uterus that come with an orgasm. Just tell baby to behave and ehem.... get on with it ! I'm sure your baby wont be affected by your randiness, is thinking angelic thoughts and just wondering why her 'house' is rocking so much ?!?

I am bored. I've just counted how many working days I have until maternity leave and as I am a slack part-timer (2 days a week) and have some A/L to take I am only here another 12 days. All of a sudden it seems a bit more doable. YAY !

swampster · 04/11/2008 12:57

Step away from the Lemsip - it tends to contain decongestants which are the Devil's own work, even when you are not pregnant. After a couple of days taking them, they tend to cause, rather than reduce, congestion, and can cause long-term problems.

oooggs · 04/11/2008 12:59

I have laringitus, chest infection, keeping tena lady in business and have that dreadful glucose test tomorrow

sorry for no personals - I feel crap and can't communicate with my children very well - they can't lip read at 19 mths and ds1 just pretends he doesn't understand and asks daddy to see if he will say yes

swampster · 04/11/2008 13:26

Glad to see we are all blooming!

I just want to SLEEP. DS2 will not let me. Soon I'll have to pick DS1 from school...

PinkTulips · 04/11/2008 13:32

mrsy.... this has been the first preg where i've been having sex at all really tbh!

with dd i'd had a few mc's before having her and spent most of the preg too afraid to have sex... i think we did it about 3 times those whole 9 months and every time i had a nervous breakdown in case we'd done damage.

with ds i had dd who wasn't sleeping, and was tired and huge and not feeling one bit attractive so poor dp didn't do much better that time.

this time i'm relaxed, both kids sleep, i'm not paniced about hurting baby and weirdly dp seems to be even more attracted to me with a fat ass and big belly

be warned, with ds i did have more interset towards the end but dp was the one who was put off as seeing my bump move was not a turn on for him, it was a bot too much of a reminder that there was a baby in there and that led him to think about the erm, ahem, 'logistics' of the whole thing as for baby moving during the act... i'd find that reassuring i think, all of mine go unaturally still for a while during and after and i always get worried until i feel them again.

MarkStretch · 04/11/2008 13:55

Hi all.

Firstly sex- that's way more interesting than work. Oddly Pink, mine does the same. We had a bit just last night and afterwards he went very still. I lay awake waiting for a kick so I knew he was ok- I wonder why they do that? But MrsY I agree feeling them move can be really weird, but a nice orgasm will release lovely endorphins into your blood stream and surely that can only be nice for the baby

Now work- I have no more clients and no more home visits! Woo! Meeting went well, was told I can have an 8 week winding down period, just doing team admin, sorting out training for everyone, typing up letters etc.

Feels like a weight off my mind.
