Oh Beans I'm so sorry, i missed your post. My thoughts are with you and your dh, such a difficult thing to have to go through for your family. Very best wishes.

Beans33 · 03/11/2008 11:00

Thanks pixsix - and hope you feel better soon - sounds a bit miserable. x

daisydora · 03/11/2008 11:31

Hatty - Great news on placenta

beans - so sorry to hear of your awful weekend. I hope your mil is still improving

First day off work today since I left last week, I swear everything seems to ache a lot less . Cried when I left work, i don't even like it that much but the people I work with were lovely and I got loads of Mothercare vouchers so can't wait to go spending!

Packed hospital bag this morning (just in case). It all seems very real now and I'm getting very excited.

zoejeanne · 03/11/2008 11:41

beans sorry to hear about your MIL, but she sounds like a fighter to have got through this weekend, so I hope she continues to recover well.

hatty so pleased to hear the placenta moved and is completely out of the way now, that is fab news

So many ups and and downs from us all at the moment, but I guess that's because we're all magnifying the individual ups and downs our hormone addled bodies are going through.

I've had a good weekend and got DH back from S Africa yesterday - hurrah! He brought back the most gorgeous lion outfit for the baby, but in 3 to 6 months - I can't wait for the spring when baby is big enough to wear it!

So I've now managed 5 nights without getting up for a wee, but have still woken up several times wondering if I need to wee before concluding no and trying to get back to sleep. Why? I just want to sleep for a full night ...

daisydora · 03/11/2008 11:48

zoejeanne I must get up on average about 4 times a night for a wee. I'm so tired, plus I have just started potty training my DD so now I have her wakingg in the night asking for a wee too!!!!!! Its like picadilly station in our bathroom at night

Flumpybumpy · 03/11/2008 12:35

chutney no I'm not irish although a lot of my family are. My first daughter has an Irish name, Caitlin, and we have always loved Niamh.

summer it is pronounced 'Neev' but we really liked the irish spelling. We are used to people not being able to spell Caitlin properly so are prepared for the same with Niamh. Luckily my son is called Jake so no confusion there

FB x

Flumpybumpy · 03/11/2008 12:39

verso I am currently 36wks today so my section date is 38wks 2days. SO WIERD knowing your baby's birthday in advance. I am definitely on countdown now although I still haven't got my hospital bag out of the loft yet, must remember to get DH to go up there and get it

hattyyellow · 03/11/2008 12:41

Cheers so much all .

Pix and Chutney hope you're both okay. I hate this final stage, it feels like you're always wondering at the back of your mind if/when things are about to kick off!

Beans what a rotten weekend for you all - hope she continues to get better.

ZJ five nights without needing a wee! You lucky thing! I'm firmly in the 5 times a night camp!

jumpjockey · 03/11/2008 12:42

Have now calmed down a bit, a colleague recommended a builder who should be able to pop in by the end of the week so at least the house should stay in one piece. Sorry for the big rant earlier

So many of us are getting new carpets! Is it the nestiest part of nesting maybe?!

PoisonD loving the pics, good old photoshop

LadyT am well impressed that you're still keeping up the driving, just think it can only be easier when you don't have a gigantic bump out the front and random aches and pains!

flumpy Niamh is a lovely name, is it said Neeve or am I making that up?

Hatty hurrah for your placenta! Great news so is it definitely safe to try for vaginal delivery if you want to?

daisy hope you're enjoying ML, it must make everything seem that bit more real!

jumpjockey · 03/11/2008 12:44

gahh. Don't you hate it when someone posts the answer to your question but you couldn't finish your post because some blasted work person came and had to talk to you?

SummerLightning · 03/11/2008 12:49

beans sorry about your stressful weekend. Hopefully the stress is over now and all will be well for your MIL.

jumpjockey glad window problem should be resolved!! out house always seems to have something wrong with it too. silly old cambridge houses. Yay to new carpets, I am sure it is totally a bad idea when having a baby but never mind. Our hall carpet is disgusting and I don't think it would clean up so it has to be done really!

flumpy Niamh, I like it even more now I know how to pronounce it. Don't think I have ever met anyone called it, only seen it written down!

Hooray, I am only working 4 days this week, no more 5 day weeks until I leave for good!! Oh what to do on my day off?

zoejeanne · 03/11/2008 13:00

Add me to the new carpets list - mine are coming on Wednesday, hurrah!

sl I'm on on 4 day weeks as well now, mine day off is (in theory) for resting and getting sleep in the sleep bank. So last Wednesday I did the following: a big shopping session with my Mum, a clear out of paperwork for my local young farmers club (from back in the day when I was young enough to be a young farmer ), travelling round the countryside to drop things round at 2 friends houses I'd promised them, plus a yoga class. I seriously only sat down to eat! So much for rest ...

Beans33 · 03/11/2008 14:01

I can't wait to start maternity leave at the end of the week. Need rest! Although have managed to book myself up quite heavily for the first couple of weeks!

MIL is back in the coronary care unit again. She's gone back a step. Just keeping fingers etc crossed for her. Think it's going to be a rocky week ahead.

traceface · 03/11/2008 14:12

beans so sorry about your MIL. Will be praying for you all. I really hope she improves soon.

Saw my MW this morning - all good!Head not yet engaged but is lying head down. BP still up a bit but not as high as last week so didn't get sent in today!!!Am feeling huge and get the feeling I won't be going full term...just a hunch

I'm very jealous of everyone getting new carpets!

Been and bought a few hospital bag items today - felt slightly panicky as I surveyed disposable briefs and breast-related things! I found a Dove Christmas gift set with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bath stuff and sponge in a little bag - all mini bottles - very good for hospital bag - only 6 pounds! Am trying to find some dirt cheap, button-down-front nighties but to no avail...any ideas?

zj am very jealous of your bladder. Mine wakes me at about every 2 hours - and sometimes it's for world's smallest pee - very annoying!

traceface, so glad all was well this time and that you have escaped having to go to the hospital. I'm off to see the midwife soon, hoping I can get there without being sick

Veggiemummy · 03/11/2008 15:23

good arvo ladies have been lurking here most of the day as i am camped out on the couch with a box of tissues and all the remotes. Had a bad nights sleep between, being woken by indigestion, full bladder (well thats what it feels like), and having to blow my nose. Hopefully will be all better tomorrow as MW coming and back at yoga in afternoon an don't want to miss it.

The course i did the latest assessment for was the Challenging Obesity one i am doing through the open university (i can't remember who asked me that question) the breastfeeding helpers course is on a break at the moment not back til next friday.

Beans you poor thing that sounds all very stressful will be thinking of you MIL and family. All very difficult for you & DH so close to babybeans due date.

Hatty- so happy your placenta moved well done.

hey Pixstix sorry to hear your under the weather too, wish i could send some of my chocolates to you. They are sustaining me and veggiebaby at the moment.

i think there were other comments i had but they have all gone out of my head now.

OP posts:
traceface · 03/11/2008 16:14

pixsix - hope you're feeling better and that all goes well with the MW.

Veggie - poor you too! Nasty lurgy making you poorly - hope you soon feel better. The chocolate should certainly help!

hattie - really pleased for you and your placenta! I had the joyous vaginal scan too because mine was low, but it too has gone North! Hurrah! No more huge probes where they shouldn't be!!

kayzisexpecting · 03/11/2008 16:17

Afternoon,

We have ordered our carpet! Its being fitted on Monday so we have a week to decorate. Luckily my mum has said she'll come over in the evenings and give us a hand.

Saw the consultant today. Everything is fine, but he did say there were ketones(sp) in my urine and I'm a bit concerned as he didn't explain anything.

I then did some shopping and I honestly feel awful now. Having a few BH's but not to bad if I sit down.

traceface · 03/11/2008 16:22

Kayz - I think the main worry with ketones is the diabetes thing, but if there was no glucose then it's fine. You can get ketones in your wee if you've not eaten for a while as well - could it have been that?
Hope you get chance to take a rest now and put your feet up

hattyyellow · 03/11/2008 16:25

BEans so sorry that MIL is not doing well. Everything crossed that she is okay.

Trace so glad your placenta moved too - DH was in hysterics at the "condom" on the probe she used to double check the placenta position!

Veggie so sorry to hear you're feeling grotty too.

Kay hope all is okay. It's so annoying the way consultants don't really explain things isn't it! I wish mine had had more time to talk to me about the low amniotic fluid levels.

Oh I wish I had finished work. Don't finish until November 26th and that seems a lifetime away! My concentration and motivation is about as good as a small snail.

pixsix · 03/11/2008 17:01

Back from MW, nothing to report, feeling a bit better so eating bananas with custard. Yum!

zoejeanne · 03/11/2008 17:06

beans sorry to hear about your MILs backward step, I'll be thinking of you and your family tonight and hoping she responds well the treatment she's getting in the cardiac ward.

Have a good evening everyone

LadyThompson · 03/11/2008 17:10

Oh gosh, everyone's poorly.

Beans, don't give up hope about your MIL. My father is in remission from cancer and isn't in the fabbest shape, and he was hospitalised with pneumonia earlier this year, but I am delighted to tell you he recovered, as I very much hope your MIL will too xx

Chutney, Kayz, Pixsix and Veggie - hope you are grabbing lots of rest and will be on the receiving end of some tlc tonight...

And those with roving placentas, Hatty and Trace, that's grand, it really is.

Niamh is a pretty name, Flumpy, though like Verso I am slightly humpy that you are beating us to it with the babe!

And Arti, good luck with trying to finish off this week. I hope your loose ends tie up better than mine did I really do think you need some proper time off from your stressful sounding job. DON'T run yourself into the ground.

Where's Effie? And where is the lady who lives in Paris? Finally - anyone know if you have to be nil by mouth with an epidural for a cs?

Still despondent about the driving. Talk about out of perspective. I need to do my test by the end of this week or early next. If I fail I will knock it on the head until the New Year. I have never been such a numbskull at anything in my entire life. On the other hand, I'm being hard on myself given that it hurts my wrists even to turn the wheel. Ho hum. Right, on with the Christmas shopping...

pixsix · 03/11/2008 17:22

LadyT I so sympathise with you about the driving. I HATED learning, needed about 70 hours of lessons over about 9 months and managed to just pass on my second attempt with almost as many minor faults as you're allowed. Luckily for other London road users, we don't have a car now....

I have a question about the baby's head being engaged. I've just looked at my notes and the MW has written '4/5' in the column titled 'Relation to brim in 1/5ths palpable'. So does this mean she could feel 4/5ths of the head so 1/5 is engaged or the other way round? I think someone might have already asked this, apologies if I'm repeating things!

Have just had a mini packet of chocolate buttons to follow my bananas and custard and am feeling 100x better.
