Oooh Arti thanks for the Westfield update. It looks fab. Decided to save it for Jan - post-baby. One of my favourite things is taking a 10-12 week babe to a big Dept Store or Mall and spending the entire day there. Not because I am a big shopper (hate it really) but because you can poodle about at your own pace, stop feed the babe feed yourself and the baby is completely happy lying in its pram looking at the sparkly lights/kipping. Complete contrast to shopping with a 3 year old and a 5 year old!!

Glad your 34 week check was good!

POP is a great store - they do the BEST pjs for children. They are quite dear so I buy in the sale and they last SO long. Wish they sold online. Like the sound of your coat !! At the moment I am making do with a light coat that doesn't close topped off with a wool poncho. I look slightly mental, but can't bear to invest in a maternity coat for this last 8 weeks!

Had my 32 week check today with one of my favourite M/Ws - she grabbed my notes from DS and said - oh I saw him the morning he was born and wrote "Oh what a beautiful boy!" in your notes. I always remembered that - it made me quite tearful at the time. She was also lovely with DD who came with me to the apptment and let her take the baby's heartbear.
BabyTurnip has turned head down (which I had guessed) and all seems good though measuring 2cm above. Will see what they think at the growth scan in 2 weeks.(good luck on that front Allie - can all be very inaccurate though both the fundal height and even the scans).

Beans - lol at your DH's arse comment! Mine has expanded to "balance me out" too! (Holding onto that thought)

Good weekend all.

traceface · 31/10/2008 19:47

kimberly - thank you for the pumpkin tips - it went quite well - I followed your advice and drew the face on first - it looks surprisingly good!
Saw the new James Bond film today (while dd was in pre-school!) - but I won't give anything away!
Turnip - I sympathize with you on the coat thing - have got away with a baggy 'hoodie' so far but can now no longer fasten anything up! Am cross with the weather for turning so cold when I am coatless but am loathe to spend money with only 6 weeks left to go! Today I wore my friend's dad's coat - stylish!!!
re arses - mine is also on the increase - almost as rapidly as the bump I think!
and one more thing...piles! Ouch - nuff said!

Verso · 31/10/2008 20:13

Am v trace as we had tickets to see the new Bond film today but then DH had to go to the hospital for blood tests - nothing urgent/serious but checking out some odd symptoms he has. (If he hadn't gone today the next time he could have gone would have been weeks away).

JamInMyWellies · 31/10/2008 20:46

Hi all,

not posted for a couple of days as have had a mini wobble about giving birth again and panicing about having a similar experience that i did first time round. I wont bore you all with the details but think I have come out the other side. With a little help from my May 07 girls.

Hope everyone is well. Will catch up properly over the weekend.

happy halloween

penny99 · 31/10/2008 21:12

Thanks for the Westfield update arti. I might spend a whole day there as soon as I am on maternity leave.

emmaanbump - oh, sick people who come to work make me SO mad. I hope you don't come down with anything. I had a cold a few weeks back and after investigating medicine options available to pregnant women (i.e none)I discovered Manuka honey which was great. I put it in hot lemon drinks.

Beans - I must say that you have a MUCH better sense of humour than me. I would not have been so gracious as to laugh, well done to you.

All my baby stuff was delivered this week from John Lewis and I am having lots of fun playing with it all. It seems funny folding the babygrows - they are so small!!!

Veggiemummy · 31/10/2008 21:21

hey if we are now 'allowed' to drink alcohol that means hot toddys are ok. There is nothing better for a cold than hot water, honey lemon a dip of a tea bag and a nip of whiskey. might have to have a bit tonight as i can feel my nostrils slowly blocking up. I really do not want to b sick tomorrow night.

Hi all
Having a very up and down week.Clocks going back and DS waking up at 5.50am every day isnot helping, alsi I am full of cold and feel like I have PMT! Poor DP does not know what sort of mood I will be in.
Had another check up with MW last week as bump was measuring small, still only just 29 cm and I am 32 weeks this weekend- so am quite (henvy] of the big bumps, also breech. Due a scan on the 17th Nov so I am trying to be positive and think they will give me more answers by then.
Saw the what to take in hospital bag- must admit not even contemplated packing for this yet- but will use Katies list- sorry no offence Kimberly but I was only in labour 2 hours last time and don't have a bag big enough!
What was the arnica for. Tried to look back but this thread moves very quickly.
I can't believe it is November tomorrow and for some less than 4 weeks. It still feels like ages away for me, although DP{ told me yeszterday that he thinks that she will arrive before Christmas (she is not due til the 27th)
No nearer on names- is anyone else struggling to find a name they both aggree on?
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend

Veggiemummy · 31/10/2008 21:37

oh poor you Simmo hope you wake up feeling better tomorrow.

Arnica is good for tissue recovery after damage in particular bruising. so good for your bits below after they have been stretched about.

2 hour labour thats amazing!!!!

Evening all,

veggie its very sad but I am quite excited about Cars 2, can't imagine what they will do with the story

jam hope you're ok. Remember you can always come & have a wobble here [hugs]

My mum's coming down in a couple of weeks so we're going to go shopping at Westfields then!

Turniphead1 · 31/10/2008 22:14

Traceface you have my ultimate sympathy. Had a major severe attack of same at around 22 weeks. Absolute agony. I can recommend Scheriproct ointment and suppositories, (need a prescription - but IME for anything that works over the counter is rubbish) - take lots of Lactolose drink lots of water and eat dried apricots. A lot. Hope doesn't get too severe for you. I actually ended up at a special bottom consultant for mine. Ouch.

For those worrying about ladyT I can confirm that she is just without internet access rather than off having her baby. But it is November tomorrow, so no doubt we will be starting our baby stat list soon enough!

Turniphead1 · 31/10/2008 22:16

jam sorry I started my post an hour ago. Hope you are feeling better - it's amazing how we can get the collywobbles and how debilitating it can be. Hugs.

Veggiemummy · 31/10/2008 22:22

was wondering about LT but thought she may have been on in the 2 pages of thread that i skipped.

night night all.

OP posts:
Verso · 01/11/2008 06:51

trace you have my sympathy bottomwise too. I've been drink drink drinking as MUCH squash as I can, which seems to help a bit - I've been too scared (despite the pain) to use the suppositories the consultant gave me as I don't know how quickly or violently they work! (Anyone with experience? Glycerol suppositories?)

Turnip can you get lactulose w/o prescription?

The Westfield sounds like fun - though it says on the website it's the largest "in town" shopping centre... does that mean Bluewater is still the biggest overall? Speaking of which, DH and I went there yesterday and today I'm suffering SPD-wise. In fact didn't have much sleep because of the pain . And after all that the Mothercare didn't have the sling I wanted (my colleagues got me vouchers so I was wanting to get the Close baby carrier with them...)

Glad to hear LadyT is ok and just sans internet. I was getting worried there for a minute!

veggie and simmo sorry to hear you're both under the weather. Hope you feel better soon!

traceface · 01/11/2008 08:53

turnip + verso - thank you for the advice. have been wondering whether to go to GP with this but have not been brave enough yet. I know that's stupid because they've seen it all before (I'm a nurse and I know I would tell someone to see their GP!) but I'm too nervous! Do they take your word for it or would the GP look to see for themselves? Not sure I can do that!!Flippin 'eck - how am I ever going to give birth if I can't even say 'haemerroid' to a doctor!!!! I think the freaking out phase is just reaching me.

kayzisexpecting · 01/11/2008 09:41

Good morning,

ARGH!!!! Its NOVEMBER!!!

Jam Sorry you are getting worried. Feel free to come and wobble in here anytime.

I want to go to that new shopping centre.

Shame it is so far away. Meadowhall in Sheffield is brilliant but I don't think I'll be braving it this year.

I'm seeing my consultant on Monday but I can't find my notes. DH said he was packing them somewhere safe. Which means we'll never see them again. So I'll be spending all day looking through boxes for them.

Hope you are all ok.

Turniphead1 · 01/11/2008 10:19

Verso yes you can get lactolose without a prescription. I don't think the glycerine will do anything too violent TBH.

Traceface a good GP really should take a look - but only to check all OK. Honestly, as you say, they have seen it all before (and worse!).

kayzisexpecting · 01/11/2008 10:25

I've just realised that MW's say that full term is anything from 37-42 weeks.

I could have a baby in 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!

EnchantedWithEdwardCullen · 01/11/2008 10:46

PMSL, I had a bit of a panick attack removing the 'october' sheet in my calender to reveal november !!

My baby is due next month! ...

help!

kayzisexpecting · 01/11/2008 10:52

I know Enchanted Its mad isn't it. I'm sure we all only ot our BFPs a few weeks ago. Where has it gone??

Veggiemummy · 01/11/2008 11:02

morning all feelilng crap, lots of weeing, heartburn and snot overnight so not much sleep. But DS did sleep in til 8.45am so did get a lie in yay, so not all bad.

Lactulose & Glycerol will soften your stools (love that word) not expel them with force so take them (as ordered) safe in the knowledge that you won't need any rushes to the loo.

Verso · 01/11/2008 11:14

jam sorry to hear you've been wobbly re birth. Feel free to share. I've been wobbly too . Mine is in 3 weeks so also worried re sleep deprivation - was dreadful last time. Also getting v irritable w DH pestering me for you know what. Am SO NOT INTERESTED! Hmph .

iwantasecondone · 01/11/2008 13:09

Sorry to crash in, ladies, but just to say that if anyone is looking for a birth doula I am a trainee (done the course, need four births to qualify) and therefore am available at a hugely discounted rate! I'm in South London/Surrey area. Congrats to all of you! Let you get back to chatting now.

theyoungvisiter · 01/11/2008 13:34

Hi All, sorry I haven't been posting much but it's been too crazy trying to get all the loose ends tied up at work before stopping. BUT I AM NOW OFFICIALLY ON MAT LEAVE!! Hooray!

And I too got the "arg, next month!" feeling this morning when we turned over the calendar...

also have been slightly freaked out by losing my mucus plug, which didn't happen until just prior to labour with DS. I suddenly had a major attack of nesting and frantically went out to buy nappies and pack bags etc...

trace sympathies on the piles! I had that too a couple of weeks ago and bought some anusol suppositories which actually worked really well and say they are safe for use in pregnancy.

veggie sorry you aren't sleeping well - but over 8.45!!! DS hasn't slept past 6.30 for... god, I can't even remember the last time. At the moment he is going through a phase of waking at 5am and poor DH goes down to try to shush him back for another hour. It usually ends up with him getting into DS's tiny bed.

Aprilmeadow · 01/11/2008 14:42

Hi ladies

Veggiemummy · 01/11/2008 15:57
