Not that it'll even BE November by the time we run out of space on this thread...

soon you will have your babies to cuddle.

choco ooh, not long for you either now!
goodluck with appt this afternoon

hi to everyone else, will pop back later, having a very lazy day today!

Dozymare · 21/10/2008 11:47

lacks I am in the EXACTLY same position as you - DS is shattered and ill. Have put him in bed as he needs a sleep.......he thinks he doesn't though and is banging on the door and screaming his head off.....I think I may take him for a drive to send him off...either that or Waitrose!

BTW - you are a FAB mum!

Dozymare · 21/10/2008 11:48

Oh, just have to say, I am buying a packet of 3 minty magnums a week and eating 2 and very, very kindly giving DH 1......I am addicted to them which is very strange as I don't normally do choc ice kinda things

ruthosaurus · 21/10/2008 11:50

I worry about that too, Lacks - I luuurrrve babies and am really good with them but kids look at me with that "you have no idea what you're doing, do you?" look and then throw a strop. I have no idea how to relate to my 5-year-old nephew as I have v little interest in toy cars and only ever see him at about 7pm when he is tired out and being a little sod!

Apologies for my previous pointless post. Just feeling really fed up, too many long days at home with dd. She has been really clingy lately and it doesn't help that we haven't been able to get out and about as I can't drive at the moment.

Also despite making a big effort to keep in touch with my friends and not going on to them about pregnancy etc all the time no-one has been in touch or dropped in to see me in ages. Dh is away a lot and I am starting to feel isolated and lonely. Not good considering my history of PND.

ruthosaurus · 21/10/2008 11:53

Dosy surely you mean 3 per day? Confused by this rationing, is there a war on?

PS Lacks forgot to say, agree with Dozy and you are fab, hon - there is no reasoning with an angry tiny! Have a magnum on the strength of it.

I have NO magnums, minty or otherwise but I have now started making ice-cubes for my birth-bag flask. Mm, frozen water with nothing else added - interesting! Apparently they are useful tho'.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 11:59

suliedonn...not pointless. I thought it was a pretty good observation. You might well be chatty but I know that I can talk for my country. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of chat that goes on as well on here, and woe betide you if you miss out on a couple of hours days

Sorry you're feeling so isolated. I can really empathise with that as some days the only contact I have with the outside world is talking to a couple of mums at the school gate or going to the post office.

rutho, it is different with your own child as you grow with them and their little ways. I have infinately more patience with other people's kids than I do with my own though (but that's cos mine know what buttons to push, growing up as they have with my little ways too!)....well except for one friend's DD who I just don't get on with at all, and who definately doesn't like me as I always tell her off.

Never underestimate how clever thay can be though....even at 16 months old. I have atheory that we are born knowing absolutely everything and are very wise, even though we can't articulate it very well.....and that we lose the knowledge as we gain articulation and the ability to express ourselves.

LadyBuzz · 21/10/2008 11:59

Suiledonn we are always here and happy to talk. I understand where you are coming from and this is the very best place to get it off your chest. Don't feel alone.
Daisy children can be awful things, at least babies can't answer back you sound like a lovley mum and after the illness fuelled weeks you have had a ittle bit of anger is surely normal!

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 12:00

rutho, can you not do a few voddie and cranberry ones for when it gets a bit boring

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 12:01

and thanks guys; I feel all warm and fuzzy now

Dozymare · 21/10/2008 12:05

suiledon I know what you mean, I am stuck at ohme with poorly DS, DH is working ridiculous hours and I have no energy for anything now...>Would quite literally pay someone to give me a day kid free so I can just slouch around and catch up on some Z's! (Actually Rutho fancy getting some practise in, he is a very well trained,l typical 2 year old, prone to almighty strops but very very good at kisses and cuddles )

Keep posting here suiledon don't feel alone, we are all in this together which is the good and bad.......how about a wlak around the block, it is a beautiful day....

My DS is now back downstairs with me, still very grumpy and I am going to take him for a drive (maybe treat us to lunch out) see if that cheers him up........

Dozymare · 21/10/2008 12:07

and to prove that it is all worthwhile - he has just climbed up on my lap, licked my face and said "Wuv you mummy"

suiledonn · 21/10/2008 12:42

Thanks for the kind words. I have been fighting back the tears all morning as dd hates to see me upset. I am feeling really let down and disappointed in dh at the moment. He agreed to teach another night course two nights a week starting tonight which means that on those days I will be alone with dd from 8 in the morning til 11 at night. We had discussed it and I told him I felt it was too much at the moment and he agreed that he could delay by a month or so without too much hassle. Then he just did nothing about it and so the course is starting tonight. On top of this he is still doing a lot of sport which means he is usually out a couple of evenings in the week and all Sunday morning.
DD isn't seeing enough of him and is really clingy to me and won't let him do anything for her when he is here. He tried to put her to bed last night and she got really upset. In the end she didn't go to sleep til nearly 10.30 and I was exhausted.
Feels good to get it all out.
I don't think I am being unreasonable to want him around more now that I'm over 37 weeks pregnant. What do you think?

ruthosaurus · 21/10/2008 12:47

Sorry Suiledonn, x-posts! Big big hug. I am also feeling a bit housebound but am on my own so not so constrained by small person. I hate that cabin fever feeling too, although weirdly I am actually not as sociable and rather shy IRL... IT'S ALL A FRONT!

Lacks I am sending you some evil vodka ice-cubes down the computer... Although maybe that is the wrong way to achieve warm fuzziness... Is it weird that because I have gone off alcohol completely due to pg I am now scared to ever try it again as I was quite drinky before and am worried I would be a Pissed Mum?

Dozy, erm, would love to, he sounds ace but as I say they've got my number and can tell I am shit with small children! He would be howling to be back with you within the hour (so I would be doing you a useful service by providing a threat - "stop doing that or I'll send you for an afternoon with Saurus").

Hello hello, thought I would pop back onto the thread. Have not been able to keep up, tbh, these antenatal threads move too fast for me!

Saw the midwife today (37 weeks) she said that the head is 3/5 engaged and the baby feels very firm down there. She was pondering whether it will actually be an October baby so here's hoping!!! Am truly, truly fed up. Achy and tired (but feel better since she turned round the correct way, no more of this back to back bollocks).

suiledonn, YANBU! It is hard, I know how you feel. DH started working away in July, staying in hotels 5 nights out of 7. I finally caved about a week ago and told him I needed him to start coming home at night and cut down a little as it is hard with a toddler and feeling like you are about to pop at any minute. Is he taking paternity leave?

chocolategal · 21/10/2008 12:51

awww, dozy that is so very cute
rutho send some of those ice cubes my way, they sound rather interesting!!

suiledon i agree with the others keep posting, and talking about things.it sounds like you have a lot going on. will your DH be able to take time off when baby arrives?

ruthosaurus · 21/10/2008 12:57

Chocolategal, just for you, here is an ice sculpture in the shape of a penguin. Be nice now and share it with the other children...

OP posts:
suiledonn · 21/10/2008 12:59

Not sure how much time he will be able to take when the baby arrives. He is self-employed and is teaching a course in a training centre at the moment. The woman in charge says she can arrange cover for up to 2 weeks but he wouldn't be able to take that much as he wouldn't be getting paid. The night course is different - there won't be anyone to cover that one. I have no problem with his normal working day - it is just the night course that bothers me because it could have waited til the baby was born and we had a idea of how I will manage the 2 on my own with bedtime etc. And delaying the course wouldn't have meant taking a financial loss.

chocolategal · 21/10/2008 13:03

LOL!!! you think i could get one for when ive had baby!!??
i could just suck on its.....beak!!! pure vodka!!

ruthosaurus · 21/10/2008 13:10

You should see some of the other ones, Choc. Not sure which bits it would be safe to suck.

Tone sufficiently lowered, good.

Suiledonn my DH claims to have only just found out that he needed to give 15 weeks notice in writing re paternity leave, and also that it's only paid at the same rate as SMP. It's really hard trying to balance the time off/pay thing, isn't it? Especially this close to Xmas.

OP posts:
chocolategal · 21/10/2008 13:24

rutho i was looking at the elvis one........

my DH gets 1week on full pay paternity then 1 week of SMP so he will only be taking the 1 week and 1 week of annual leave.
it is hard to balance everything, and i know he doesnt have a clue how demanding/exhausting this baby malarky is going to be!
suiledon your DH prob means well(prob for financial reasons) but i, like you would feel exactly the same!

chocolategal · 21/10/2008 13:28

NEWS FROM OBS

she is being admitted to hospital this afternoon for monitoring. she thinks she will be in until the weekend or until baby is born.

if i hear more i will let you all know

ChocOrange05 · 21/10/2008 13:29

I just had a text from Obs - she is being admitted to hospital for monitoring until the weekend or until baby is born. It sounds rubbish but I guess if the docs say its best then its a good thing.

ruthosaurus · 21/10/2008 13:31

Holy crap! Pass on love and stuff, will you? When is she actually "due"?

OP posts:
ChocOrange05 · 21/10/2008 13:33

Obs is due on 17 November - I hope she's not there that long !!
