Hi lovely ladies, gosh soo many messages! Will start with this page...

Mildwest hugs that is awful thing to happen and not what you need right now, ok so wasn't serious accident but still.. Hope u r ok.

Chocolategal am I right in thinking it is your birthday today???! Many happy returns if it is! (if it isn't then can I get copy of the spreadsheet pronto Ruthy??!) Obs jeez, good job your DH caught u, know that I also tend to fall out with people when they have done something that actually scared the crap out me, hope you will smooth things over soon.

Ruthy at postman!! That is unbelievable! Bloody nerve, I would have complained too about that one!

Hana I was all for no injection for placenta last time but as it all went out of my control that didn't happen. (DH didn't get to cut the cord either, was a bit upset for him but at end of day DS delivered safe and that was all that mattered...) This time I am not having too many plans and will see how it goes on day. Def sayng yes to the Vit K injection as feel risk of not having outweigh any potential risks of giving it. Know there was a scare about it some time ago which linked it to childhood cancer but that has since been disproved (according to the people I spoke to about it).

As for feeding, I am definately BFeeding again as IME it is soooo much easier! I wouldn't look down on/think badly of those who choose bottles tho...

LackaDAISYcal · 20/10/2008 13:06

DH is taking the contents of our freezer to the tip this afternoon....thanks to the door being left open last night (not shut properly as it badly needed to be defrosted)

So I now have an empty freezer for stocking up with homemade meals for the first few weeks of virgil's life......

thankfully there wasn't that much in it; mainly dregs of loaves of bread and some soup etc.....oh and some weaning ice cubes from last December and a couple of bags of expressed breast milk

LackaDAISYcal · 20/10/2008 13:08

and meant to say Mildwest...I hope you are OK. I agree you should call the MW and just get a wee check over to make sure all is well with the baby....and watch out for signs of whiplash. I had it earlier this year; day after I felt stiff, next day OK, day after that I couldn't move my neck at all! Get some frozen peas on it this evening to take any potential swelling down.

suiledonn · 20/10/2008 13:26

Aaargh - I had a lovely long post typed after catching up on the thread and when I hit post message my internet diconnected and I lost it all. Don't think I will get the chance to do it all again so hi to everyone. Hope the aches and pains are feeling better.

Has anyone got one of those changing units with the bath and shelves that are on wheels? I was thinking of getting one as our house is quite cold and I'd say we will spend our days in the living room. I was thinking I could wheel it to the bedroom at night, stock it up with clothes, nappies etc for the next day and move it to the living room in the morning. The trouble is we looked at one at the week end and dh thought it was very expensive. I have looked on line and can't find one much cheaper, no luck with second hand either. Are they worth the money? We have bought much this time round.

suiledonn · 20/10/2008 13:27

Should say haven't bought much.

ruthosaurus · 20/10/2008 13:29

I'm just going to pop my sofa cover in the washing machine. [smug nesting grin]

I have to do it while DH is out as otherwise he will have a wibble about the machine... Note lack of worry about me hauling wet canvas around in my condition!

For lunch today I have just had a chicken and lettuce sandwich on mediterranean bread followed by a banana with cold custard - heaven! I may even have a coffee afterwards as a real treat.

Oh and forgot to also say Hana I experienced/noticed BH when I first started taking RLT. The research I did said to expect this at first and not to take too much at first. I don't experience/notice them so much now... (2-3 weeks later). Don't know if that helps but thought I'd let you know anyway!

MildWest · 20/10/2008 13:44

Thanks Lacks, was just thinking how would I know if I?ve got whiplash, am already pretty achy due to over-zealous weeding yesterday!

Think my shock at the shunt manifested itself as anger ? standing in the middle of the road shouting ?ffs? whilst the poor lady in the middle car was really shaking. Bump has been wriggling a little in the last few hours, and to be fair is normally mainly an evening wriggler, so not too worried.

Postie?s ? ours are terrible, posting ?signed for? stuff through without a signature, leaving Ipods under the gate on a rainy day. I have always thought about complaining but never quite got round to it ? mainly due to work, can quite easily imagine I?ll be the street busy-body when I?m off work?

Vitamin K ? I hadn?t thought much about it as only just recently discovered it?s optional. Will read up a little more I think, but am generally of the opinion that if it?s synthetic and there isn?t a defined risk to NOT having it, then I?ll probably go for not. Ditto for the placenta-expelling injection, whatever it?s called.

chocolategal · 20/10/2008 13:51

thank you sparkle

hana it was me who had my 36wk appt and no bloody mention of a birth plan! grrr

i am going to go with the vit K inj, and prob
the placenta one too.
obs hope the aches and pains go soon and you are back speaking to DH.

LackaDAISYcal · 20/10/2008 14:01

mildwest; you will know about whiplash, trust me. I've never felt pain like it before......

......well apart from when I was in labour with DS

ruthosaurus · 20/10/2008 14:04

Bloody hell, that was tiring. Forgot sofa covers have velcro on and was hauling on it for AGES before I remembered...

Pregnancy so has not made me into a thickie.

hello all, well I'm not due until the 29th nov but am going I on the 3rd to be induced. Although the midwife is doing a sweep for me on Monday. I managed to fall over In the garden yesterday but a trip to fetal assesment shows the baby is fine. Got the midwife in a bit-it's all getting very close now!!!

Betti · 20/10/2008 14:32

Hello ladies

I will be having Vit K as would rather err on the side of caution. Will also have the syntocin (is that what it's called) to help with the 3rd stage as I didn't have this with my 1st DC and ended up having a retained placenta which I had to have removed manually in theatre. Of course there's no telling whether it was due to not having the jab but I would rather not have to experience that again.

Feeling better today after period pains all day and night yesterday. MW told me that you have lots of false starts third time round so maybe it was just that.

Off to catch up properly now.

Hi All = so many messages! Poor DS2 is still very poorly - he slept for 3 hours earlier so I caught up on some Z's as well...seems a bit better now but still v.v.v.clingy and grumpy. Hana I also go for the Vit K option as I believe that we are very fortunate to have the potential to immunise our children - I did a lot (and I mean a lot) of soul searching when it came to giving the pre school boosters/8 week/16week/MMR injections and after talking to lots of people an reading lots or research, realised how lucky we are to be able to immunise our children. As someone has said, Vit K has far more positives than negatives and you won't actually know about the blood clotting until it happens which is potential life threatening.

ruth I am starting to think your idea of typing up a message on word is not a bad one, can/t remember what else is going on!

lacks how are you and the rest of the family?

Obs did yu and dh FALL OUT BCCAUSE HE DIDN'T tell you about falling dowqn the stairs?? If so, maybe he was just protecting you and not wanting to worry you??????

chocgal very strange MW appointment, i also feel they shoul.d have spoken a with you about birth plan and feeding!!

Erm...can't remembner what else!!!!!!!

ceebee74 · 20/10/2008 15:10

Wow so many messages, I can't keep up!

Vbab not sure why you feel you need to start a different thread about bottlefeeding? I haven't said anything before but I will be bottlefeeding this baby. I tried bf DS but it just didn't work and as it turned out, I didn't produce any milk anyway so have just decided not to give myself the extra stress this time round

We are also the house of 'poorlyness' here - DH has got really bad diaorrhea, and me and DS have got colds so we are all moping round feeling sorry for ourselves and all 3 of us took to bed at 1 for a nap

Am going out on my leaving do from work tonight - Italian, my fave!

Right need to go and catch up with my Scrabble games whilst DS is distracted by Peppa Pig!

MonkeyMargot · 20/10/2008 15:24

Oh dear - sorry to those with sickness bugs in their family - what a nightmare
Mildwest - you probably should get checked out, especially after reading of lacks' experience of whiplash.
Hana - i'm unsure about VitK too. Need to read up on the t'internet. Started taking Raspberry Lead tablets yesterday. I now have period cramps?
When I was in the health food shop, I also bought some extract of Holly for the real MM (the dog) as it is supposed to help with "feelings of jealousy". DH put the drops in her water last night. Got back from swimming to find she'd vomitted on her sheepskin rug and under the bed. Nice!
RuthO take it east with that nesting!!
This is my last week at work and am suddenly really busy doing handovers and what-not. Which is a bugger as it interferes with MN and Scrabble etc...
P.S. Obs - sorry to hear about your fall - I'm sure your DH was just really worried - my DH always gets angry when he's scared. You poor thing. Have posted you 3 books today - hope you enjoy them.

chocolategal · 20/10/2008 15:43

dozy i agree about us being lucky to take advantage of being able to immunise our children, but like everything else its all about choice. i will be having the injections tho.
monkeym it is very cruel of me but i had a little giggle about the medicine to help the dog with feelings of jealousy! not good about the sickness tho!

ceebee hope you are feeling better after your nap! i dont think anyone should feel bad about bottlefeeding, i am going to give bf a go but have everything at hand incase it doesnt work out as i wont beat myself up over it!

well, i am sitting watching portland babies

sparkletoes · 20/10/2008 15:44

Dozy I totally agree with you on the immunisations. I also did a LOT of research/thinking about them (not helped my mother's very strong feelings against them as she blamed my sister's severe eczema on having them). I also came to conclusion that we are very lucky to have the option. My DS had all his vaccinations (including the one my mum blamed on sister's eczema) and he is absolutely fine. Occasionally he gets areas of dry skin but then so do I, my Dad, my DH, my MIL and my gran had psoriasis... (am thinking it is more a familial trait)...

sparkletoes · 20/10/2008 15:48

at chocolategal watching Portland babies! I watched that religiously when pg with DS but we don't have Sky anymore .

chocolategal · 20/10/2008 15:54

lol sparkle! i love it! they are all old ones i have seen before but good all the same!
everybody has an epidural....its the way to go!!!

just relaxing, waiting on DH coming home from work, then my sis and inlaws arriving to stuff myself with birthday cake!

meant to say earlier i got a very cute birthday card from baby this morning with nice body creams with a little note saying sorry for making your tummy stripey but cant wait to meet you!
isnt my baby clever!!???

sparkletoes · 20/10/2008 16:02

God I wish I had kept them on TIVO (sky+ predessessor)...

Enjoy your cake! I just had a jaffa cake, it was best I could do as NOT going out to bakers in that rain!

What a clever baby you have indeed!

chocolategal · 20/10/2008 16:04

loving the halloween theme!!!!

ChocOrange05 · 20/10/2008 16:06

Ohh - look at the new halloween smileys!

ruthosaurus · 20/10/2008 16:13

Wow, chocolategal, your baby is a genius! Just what you were after as well... I bet you welled up, I would. V as my baby was only about 20 weeks or so when I had my birthday and had not developed the necessary social skills to navigate that whole shopping thing...

I am now paying for all my housework as I am now one GIANT Braxton Hicks contraction . But I have washed everything in the world (why did we buy a cream sofa cover? What a pair of drongos) and can't wait til DH comes home and there's nothing to sit on. Apart from me.

I now also have freezer space and, Lacks, I have had to ditch 1) a bag of adzuki beans, 2yrs old, barely touched 2) some coriander cubes which wouldn't have survived the defrosting process and had to be put down 3) a bag of what I thought was vomit but turned out to be a particularly rubbish attempt at bag-freezing curry 3) somthing unappealing and green with healthy vegetables in 4) a bag with 2 oven chips in. Weirdly there was no ice-cream to chuck out. Tomorrow I am going to make ice-cubes for the flask in my birth bag and possibly stock up on icecream as we have evidently run out. Yay!

Got to go, need a lie down. By the way, as noone else has mentioned it, am I the only one whose emoticons have acquired tiny wee witches hats? Maybe my puter is possessed by Halloween...
