i am still twinging. still not strong enough though. am shattered.

chocolategal · 20/10/2008 10:38

mildwest i'd take yourself off home, relax and if you feel the need to later then call the MW!?

ruthosaurus · 20/10/2008 10:45

I think men get man flu because they can...

Missdee are you okay?

misdee · 20/10/2008 10:48

you think after 3 kids i'd know what labour feels like lol.

have been having strong BH or not strong contractions all night long. am feeling tired and grouchey. i slept a bit so cant be labour right?

not getting stronger. no idea how long contractions are meant to last to be considered labour.

If things dont ease off will go get checked out this afternoon once dd3 is at nursery.

chocolategal · 20/10/2008 10:53

goodluck misdee i know the mw at the classes i went to said if you are getting contractions, or what you think to be contractions at least 2 in every 10mins then def go get checked out!? dont know if that helps or not!??

Oblomov · 20/10/2008 11:06

Just to let you know that me and dh have fallen out.
When I had my hypo yesterday, I fell from the top of the stairs and he caught me. He said it all flashed before him and he thought he had lost me. And the baby.
I didn't tell you this because I did not know that I had fallen. But I can feel it today. I am so sore and feel terrible.

Add a bit of friction and upset, always helps when you are feeling rough and rotten.

Hope that everyones Bh's and contractions, and feeling rough, all gets better soon. Misdee and Dasiy.

ruthosaurus · 20/10/2008 11:16

Good luck Misdee - I hven't got a clue, pet! I think everything is labour, up to and including trapped wind... Babycentre.co.uk just says if the contractions are regular and getting closer together, call you MW. Antenatal mw said don't go in unless the contractions are close together and you can't carry on a conversation when you're having one.

Hi Obs, hugs. Sound nasty, poor you. Good job he caught you - did you fall out because he got angry and really worried about the hypo? DH and I have been bitching at each other for 2 days now on and off, usually when I am tired and he is gagging for a cig.

BLOODY POSTMAN! He has just shoved one of those "We tried to post your parcel but you weren't in so we left this card" cards through the door without even knocking, so I jumped out of the door and surprised him in the act of running away. He admitted that he hadn't even brought the sodding parcel out with him! He promises to bring it properly tomorrow. I may call Royal Mail.

It's not even like it's a heavy parcel (I could understand him be reluctant to bring a massive order from Amazon) but it's only the baby bjorn sling I ordered. And this is a man who does his round at a run in shorts.

Oh, God, I'll be writing to the local paper next. Help!

LackaDAISYcal · 20/10/2008 11:50

obs, you probably scared the life out of him and this was his way of reacting

take care of yourself lovely, please.

And he'll be home from work all remorseful tonight I'm sure; it's not as if it's your fault is it?

ooooh misdee . It's all a bit exciting now isn't it? Try and rest up as much as you can today, and remind DH at all costs that if he had let you have your lie in yesterday you would be more prepared for labour, if this is it

I haven't called the MW . I don't want them saying "come in" and then not letting me out again. sore all over now and feeling pretty shitty, but drinking gallons to keep my fluids up and so hopefully circumventing the need to go in.

Apparently it's the same nerve cluster that affects both the cervix and bowels which is why labour and diahorrea often go hand in hand. I have been googling!

LackaDAISYcal · 20/10/2008 11:55

at the postman rutho. I have had those cards before when I've been in all day. Makes me think now. He probably had iother parcels this morning and wanted to lighten his load a bit.

Call Royal mail and complain.

Our new pram should arrive today according to the tracking number. I am very excited about it, in the way only a pregnant woman can be about some metal, wheels and material.

now to sell the McLaren

rutho - Bloody postman! Also tell me honestly what you think to the waxing. Would rather be prepared.

good news - Carpet now down in the living room so I can go into cleaning madness . Must be hormones but for some reason one of the fitters kept calling me "love" and it really grated on me everytime when it wouldnt normally.

Also should some more stuff on ebay. Not worth thousands of pounds or anything but more than I would have got throwing the stuff away like I have done so many times.

Off to post office now, then hopefully a little bit of clean up in the living room before picking DS up from nursery at 1pm. PHEW!

vbab78 · 20/10/2008 12:02

should be sold not should. DUH!

vbab78 · 20/10/2008 12:03

Any ladies thinking of bottle feeding from birth?

Could start a new thread if anyone wants to discuss ... will check up later.

misdee · 20/10/2008 12:08

pains have eased off. still slight twinges, but not taking my breathe away. going with dh to take stuff to the tip but wil lsit ibn teh car and direct him. am not doing a thing!

LackaDAISYcal · 20/10/2008 12:09

vbab........it's all about choice lovely; no one her will hurt or condemn or castigate

please don't start a separate thread though; there are some right ole rottwielers out there on MN and I wouldn't want anyone to hurt your feelings.

LackaDAISYcal · 20/10/2008 12:13

good idea about the hand sanitiser hana...I have a few of the wee travel sized ones lying around. there will be one at the bahroom door and the kitchen at the very least!

the tip misdee? steady tiger!

misdee · 20/10/2008 12:14

vbab, not this time. but have bottle fed two out of my three girls.

what sort of adviceare you looking for?

i have tried loads of bottles. faves were the tommee tippee nuby ones, and the first years breastflow ones with the two teat system

misdee · 20/10/2008 12:15

the tip is also recycling centre, and dh gets confused with where everything goes. like cardboard in one bin, household in another, metal in another. i will just point him in the general direction.

and buy some chips on the way back (really fancy some with loads of salt and vinegar on them )

ruthosaurus · 20/10/2008 12:19

Vbab, I am shit-scared about the waxing, but mostly because of it being so, ahem, overgrown that the nice ladies at this spa place that I have never been to before will scream in horror and call the vet to get the ape-woman taken off the premises and back to the freak show. Also I hear it hurts. But I cannot see my bits to shave my bikini line and I'm going nuts stuck here at home and it sounded like an outing. Re: bottle feeding, you do what you want and ignore anyone else. I'm personally hoping to breastfeed but that's largely because I can't get my head round sterilising bottles and am looking forward to getting my baps out in public...

Moment of shame I have actually just called the Royal Mail and dobbed the postman in. This is what comes of me having too much time on my hands and sitting under the letterbox waiting for my ebay purchases. Neighbourhood Watch beckons, I feel. Seriously, though, the bloody nerve. Lacks I am getting my pram tomorrow - unless the postman nicks it in revenge...

Hana, I'm having my baby given the Vit K thing, as from what I hear the blood clotting problem is undetectable until it happens. I have no problem with injections but also no major health phiolsophy apart from "if it works, use it unless it's going to cause worse problems that it solves". I hear nothing bad about the Vit K, do you? I am not having the "get the placenta out" injection on the same grounds - apparently it comes out on its own anyway... Any other thoughts on that one welcome too.

By the way, facebook ladies, I have done a spreadsheet of names and aliases as I was getting confused. If anyone wants a copy or indeed knows how to upload an Excel document onto Facebook, send me a message!

ruthosaurus · 20/10/2008 12:38

Nah, can't see to do it, hana! And I am a little reluctant to ask DH to do that as well as treating my athlete's foot...

Misdee, I have been asking my DH to take the recyc for ages. He also claims to find it a hassle but as far as I can see you drive to the tip, chuck stuff in bins that are cleverly labelled with what you're allowed to put into them, and then get chips on the way home. Can't see the hassle in that either.

Having said that, he LOVES taking large bulky items to the tip but has to be monitored otherwise he brings other rubbish home.

I'm nesting - the freezer is nearly defroseted and the sofa cushion covers are in the wash! Woo!

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 20/10/2008 12:57

I think I might be nesting too, I've dusted the whole house, cleaned the kitchen and sorted out the understairs cupboard - DH will kill me tonight for doing that! I have also made the moses basket up and converted the pramette back to pram mode. I don't however feel too great but as I do not have a clue what labour feels like I could not tell you if this is it or not
Had periody type aches yesterday, have been back and forth to the loo a number of times this morning and keep getting pains that feel like stomach pains - like cramps if that makes sense! They are not too painful nor do they appear to be regular so I will just have to wait and see, I am doubting very much that this is it!
Rutho At your postman I would have phoned them too and yes honestly waxing does hurt but only for a couple of seconds!
Lacks and Misdee hope you are feeling better!
Hana I had the vitK for DS and he appears to be none the worse for it, so will prob have it this time round too!

coolkat · 20/10/2008 13:03

Choc, SPD feels more under control, cant lift legs on their own have to give them a hand IYSWIM, think SPD 'improved' as I am not doing much.

Misdee, ohh chips with salt and vinegar I am about to do oven chips, burgers and salad but can't be arsed at the moment!

Lacks sorry to hear you got the bug.

Rutho - Er you grass you, our post round here is so unpredictable some days before 9, others after 4, although he is a jolly chap so don't mind!

Obs, sorry about your argument and about your fall. DH was probably scared and throw in all the hormones and emotions at the minute and bang. I am sure he will be very apologetic later. X

Question, my right arm keeps going really heavy and feels a bit dead a bit fuzzy, feels a bit swollen. Comes and goes since last thurs. Any one any ideas? I have not been leaning on it etc.
