Guarantee I will still be here Honeymummy!!

second sweep today was fine - though my cervix is exactly the same as it was 2 days ago which is a bit disheartening - still 1cm thick though stretchy enough for her to give me a fairly hardcore sweep (well she did promise me the sweep of my life!)

my 2 pregnancy buddies both gave birth within an hour of each other this morning - they were due either side of me and while of course I'm delighted for them I'm now hideously jealous and feeling pretty alone in the world without their constant reassuring texts and phone calls...even starting to feel like I shouldn't have pushed back my induction just so I can have my baby quicker!

Still, the positive side of it is I am giving my baby as much of a chance to come out when its ready, as opposed to when the NHS decides it is

tried to go for a walk after sweep - look like a right pillock with my waddle, swept cervix and dodgy thigh after sleeping on the msucles badly the last few days!

Honeymoonmummy · 30/10/2008 15:05

See you're already both at the sweep stage, I booked mine this morning, just in case... 7 November!!!

Honeymoonmummy · 30/10/2008 15:07

Found a v funny thread re an unorthodox way to induce btw, made me chuckle...

SmudgeyDoodle · 30/10/2008 15:14

Hi girlies. Appointment this morning went ok I think. i'm booked in for Mon if nothing happened earlier. Saw consultant (felt very honoured and privileged!) and she said I am 2-3cm dilated, soft cervix and a Bishops Score of 6 which means she'd be happy just to break my waters for induction. She then said that she reckons I'll be in over the weekend anyway and I also had "the sweep of my life"
I was really hoping not to have a halloween baby so Sat would be fine. GWMH I know what you mean about feeling of people who were due after. I feel like going on the November thread and reminding them of how we, in Britain, like to queue nicely Honeymoonmummy - 7th Nov still sounds like a long way away to me. Does it to you too?

Honeymoonmummy · 30/10/2008 15:19

Yes, very long! Hope things get moving, when were you due Smudgey?

SmudgeyDoodle · 30/10/2008 15:40

Honeymoon I just read that thread. You giving it a go then? I think I prefer to try the bakewell tart and custard option that I've concocted!

SmudgeyDoodle · 30/10/2008 15:41

I was due on 22nd and had second sweep today... fingers crossed (but might make a mess whilst eating said Bakewell tart)

Flum · 30/10/2008 17:45

Saw consultant today. Declined a sweep. Partially regretting it now but I just didn't fancy getting my bits out and being messed around with probably to no benefit.

The midwife who was in the room said a sweep can help but by no means certain. She recommended sex. So I said yep did that last night and this morning. So she said Oh well no need for a sweep then...... NOt sure if she meant the sex was just as good or that she didn't really want to have a delve about up there if there may be foreign erm well spunk floating around!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 30/10/2008 18:15

smudgeydoodle that's brillaint news about your favourable cervix - am a bit but pleased for you!

reflexology this afternoon just seems to have wound my baby up - has not stopped thrashing around since I went!

Flu lucky you - DH won't have sex with me anymore!!! my midwife said the sweep would get things going if they were ready to, it won't make any difference if baby is just not ready to come out

Honeymoonmummy · 30/10/2008 19:37

Maybe I already have Smudgey ...

I'd just persuaded DH that lots of sex was the way forward then got YET another case of thrush!!!

Flum · 30/10/2008 19:47

Bless him, this morning he didn't seem to keen. So I left him to snooze and 10 minutes later he did roll over ready to service his MIssus!! Bless him obviously had to have a bit of a daydream about.... I don't even want to know I was just mighty grateful!!

Honeymoonmummy · 30/10/2008 20:00

Ha ha! Who says romance is dead????

ronshar · 31/10/2008 10:33

Honneymoommummy, thank you for that thread. Bloody hilarious. If I had been much later I would have been on my knees quick fast.

Not many of us October ladies left to meet our babies now. Get some sleep while you can. Thats all I can say to you all. 2 hour feeding, nightmare

SmudgeyDoodle · 31/10/2008 12:15

Morning. This is our last chance for an Oct baby. Think I'd prefer it tomorrow rather than Halloween anyway. poor child would always end up with a similar party!!
Not sure whether I'm more scared about being induced or going into spontaneous labour. Had really bad heartburn last night and ended up sleeping sitting up on sofa from 1.30-7. Slept ok but could hardly move this morning so needed a bath to unfreeze my joints. Had friend round this am so DS had someone to play with. He's in bed now so I'll hopefully only have about 3 hours to kill til Daddy comes home and then it's the weekend! Flum and Honeymoonmummy you're much braver than me. The thought of sex is just for me right now. Sallypuss - how did you know sweep unsuccessful? Did they not manage to do it or is that you didn't go into labour? Hope it's nicer weather wherever you are - it's peeing it down here and I keep trying to turn the heating off but getting cold really quickly.

nuclear · 31/10/2008 13:05

hi all catching up - not read through posts yet.

things going nicely here - wandering around in a baby haze!!!!

Flum · 31/10/2008 13:08

Would strongly recommend the sex, feel quite erm vital today.

Also having VERY gently contractions today fairly random - 10-20 mins apart and just a slight dull dragging. Both my other labours woke me up with much more ermm..... serious pains! Could be something..... Might not. KIds coming home tomorrow afternoon so today/tonight would be perfect.

Except we have a Valentines babe and a Midsumers eve babe, so add a Halloween one and we have a theme for every kids party

MummyTheQueenOfDarkness · 31/10/2008 13:18

tothrottleablackbird [ knickersonmahead] gave birth to a little boy this morning weighing a whopping 9lb 11 oz!!! No stitches required !His name is Samuel Paul

SmudgeyDoodle · 31/10/2008 13:20

Congrats Knickersonmahead. That's a big baby and very impressive with no stiches! Glad things going well Nuclear. Flum that sounds promising and only fair to have your little one today to complete the trio of party themed birthdays!
Off to have some lunch before DS wakes up. Good luck everyone

jenwa · 31/10/2008 14:27

Just checking in on you all and making sure your babies are going to make an appearance, wont be too long now

You may get scared in to labour tonight with the halloween activities

gotto go Phoebe decided to scream......!

Honeymoonmummy · 31/10/2008 15:18

Congrats Knickersonmahead and sounds good Flum. I haven't had anything. Nothing. Nada. Oh except I had a really big chocolate cake last night and my poor bump was wired and kicking all night...I'm such a bad mum...

Sallypuss · 31/10/2008 16:14

Still here, still pregnant.

Smudgeydoodle midwife said that my cervix was too far back and 'unfavourable' for her to be able to bring it forward and do the sweep hence why I wasn't expecting any great shakes yesterday today (though if I'm honest I was hoping that all the messing about down there may have got something going).

Just returned from a 2 hour walk with the dogs and DH in the hope that that will shift the little one. DH has been saying for months that the baby would be born on Halloween, it's going to have to get a move on if that's going to happen...if not back to the MW tomorrow for another go.

Congratulations knickers. Flum sounds promising, keep us posted...

Sallypuss · 31/10/2008 16:15

Oh, and the 'have you had it yet?' phone calls have started with a vengeance....

jenwa · 31/10/2008 16:31

sallypuss I had those phonecalls and texts! Of course if you had you would let them know. Ignore the phone or put an outgoing meesge (if you have answerphone) saying I have not had the baby!!!!

Flum · 31/10/2008 16:58

NOthing, it all stopped as soon as I posted!!!

I have just spent two hours on my hands and knees scrubbing and polishing kitchen and hall floor - something I have NEVER done before! It has done no good at all.

Kids back tomorrow thank God, am soooooo bored now and pretty much finsihed To Do list from last 2 years!!!

SmudgeyDoodle · 31/10/2008 19:09

Jenwa (and others!!) thanks for coming to check on us stragglers. Flum that's so typical - that it all stopped just when you posted. I've been having a few tightenings but not convinced it's anything promising. You said that your scrubbing hasn't done any good but at least you must have a shiny floor! Very impressed you've done your to do list. I didn't even make one! Honeymoon I've given up on healthy eating. Tonight's tea is pizza followed by cheesecake. I've also got a mini bottle of Baileys that I think I might have to have tonight. Sallypuss you are going to have to get a move on if you are having a Halloween baby.I'm resigned to a November one. Got a nice ring to it don't you think
