OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
charleypops · 09/03/2005 19:26

We haven't done it since the day we conceived. Can't imagine ever doing it again

Maybe I should just get on with it. I know the less you do it the less you want to. maybe a bit of pro--active action therapy is required

Poor dp

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 19:29

Hey Lippy, how are you? I was too nervous to do it in the later stages in case it started it all off! Didn't want to explain that one to the midwife, although I was only 2 days over so I may have got desperate. An orgasm without penetration can set the wheels in motion if your body is ready apparently. I am not speaking from experience though.

charleypops · 09/03/2005 19:33

Whoops x posts! Yes, Lips you ARE having fab dreams I haven't had once since the infamous Gareth Gates one

Hmm - all fours, I was thinking that's the best position, apart from it kind of goes in a bit too much , might try on my side. Or just organise a soapy sponge bath as a treat for him

And yes, I will be having lots of pal nearer the time - what a great excuse!!

Coop - we never did it on a night anyway - we can hear our neighbour turning over in bed on the other side of the wall. Took us a while to realise this though when we first moved in

Is it really better post-baby?! Wow! Great!

LipstickMum · 09/03/2005 19:36

Hiya Coop

I have to say, we haven't been rampant since we conceived either. Last pregnancy we did it every night towards the end, to help things along, that was dp's 'medical opinion' - naturally

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 19:37

Oh Charley, I know what you mean about the less you do it the less you are interested etc. That is so VERY true. I think it is equally normal and common to not do it once preg as to feel fruity and do it lots. It is no reflection on the relationship long term. Just a combo of your body not being your own, hormones, sickness, tiredness etc. Having said all that I can hardly believe anyone manages at all. And your DP will survive...... Don't pressure yourself to get back in the saddle though for the wrong reasons ie for DP. That may not be much fun..... That is nearly something I did post baby. I felt we were all expected to be at it by the 6 month check and did it for that reason rather than anything else. Not a good idea. Went out and bought KY Jelly the next day. Top tip esp if breast feeding as this can dry things up a bit (Again sorry if TMI)

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 19:40

All fours is too much for me Soapy sponge bath sounds like the best idea!
.......pal ???? Am I being really naive???

LipstickMum · 09/03/2005 19:40

Yeah Charley, on your side is very comfy and not too errrrr 'intrusive' if you don't want it to be

LipstickMum · 09/03/2005 19:41

'Pal' is apparantly the hottest curry in the world, EVER!!! So hot, in fact, that restaurants often don't put it on the menu. Charley occasionally partakes.

charleypops · 09/03/2005 19:44

LOL Coop - KY! Ooh how embarrassing, buying that at the shop. Nearly as bad as buying pile cream (I imagine, of course)! I have something similar (bought on line) that I (used) to use every now and again anyway. Adds a certain frisson I find

charleypops · 09/03/2005 19:46

Quick flurry of posting there in the Corrie ad break I notice

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 19:56

Oh right. Glad I am not missing anything obvious. I thought the hottest was a phal. Do you think this is the same? Can't understand why you would want one of those Charley. I like to taste my food . I do love a balti though and we had a mexican chili pizza delivered tonight for a treat. Mmmm
Lippy - Presume your DH is a doctor and not a sex therapist ?? . I missed all the intros being a late comer so forgive my ignorance. I now remember you mentioned something about him delivering your baby too. What an amazing thing to be able to do! DH didn't even cut the cord in the end, although he wasn't bothered at all as it turned out. Too overwhelmed and just pleased dd was here.
KVG - You mentioned food in labour. I took snacks (choc bars and fruit) but DH was the only one who ate anything. I insisted that he cook me fishfingers and chips and beans when my contractions started and ate half of it with contractions every 4 mins apart. I was in denial even when we went to the hosp and made him put the plate in the microwave in case we got sent home. It was the best food I have ever tasted. Real comfort food and i had been advised to eat to keep up my strength. I was then sick though at the hosp. One thing I did was sip water constantly through a bendy straw (another good tip I found). This meant I needed the biggest pee in the world when it was all over but my wee was as diluted as it could have been and helps avoid post birth probs ie constipation etc. In York we were actually left on our own so I could have eaten no probs. We were encouraged by our community midwife to make sure we ate to eep strength up. No one told us not too and it was good for us we were left to it as this was what I wanted. Midwife was in and out alot but didn't stay cos I had no probs. She was there in a flash when I was sick though at DH hit the button. I would only eat if you feel like it though. Your body will tell you.

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 20:00

Charley - lol it was embarrassing, in a shopping basket with condoms and breast pads. I went to the older lady with pushchair in Boots. I thought she looked more sympathetic than the spotty oik. If you have an alternative stick with that I reckon. The condoms really didn't help the whole thing either though.
And yes I think it is better post baby than before...... and it was good before .

charleypops · 09/03/2005 20:06

Coop - I sometimes spell is phal - although in my local curry place they spell it "pal" I think it's of ambiguous spellage. I've definitely got a "thing" for chilli. It may be an addiction. I have not yet had a curry that is too hot for me. I love the taste of the actual chilli. I got scared though last time I had a phal/pal cos I couldn't feel the baby moving and suddenly thought I'd hurt him, so I've toned it down and now won't go hotter than a (slightly embellished) Jalfrezi.

Aren't fish fingers great! apparently they are the most universally ate food in the world! Coop - did you feel sick during your labour or did you simply puke? And how come you didn't pee during labour? I thought that was par for the course (and the other sometimes)

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 20:16

I did pee during labour but always made it to the loo. The other thing happened too but in tiny amounts (like a rabbit dh said to make me feel better) in the pool during the pushing stage. I thought I would be mortified but midwife just ignored it and said after 'this is what you brought the seive in for it happens all the time' and TBH there was nothing I could do about it. Have to say this was the thing I was MOST fearful about but I really didn't care and don't ever have to see my m/w again.
I think I was sick because of too much gas and air. I didn't actually feel that sick although DH says I warned him cos he had one of those little kidney dishes ready to catch it. I did feel that all my contractions contracted my whole stomach and intestines right up to my throat though but had no back labour at all. I kept telling DH I had been sick toward the end and they kept saying no you haven't but I think I was bringing up bile actually. Only just remembering all this now you have asked me. It is amazing how you forget the unpleasant bits.

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 20:18

After my posts tonight I don't think I could look anyone in the eye if we had a meet up lol. It is past my bed time now so I will catch up later tomorrow.
Sleep tight all.

charleypops · 09/03/2005 20:29

Coop - do you have to bring your own sieve to a waterbirth? i might be having one... would hate to sit in there with bits of poo bobbing around

It's amazing what you mums seem to block out during labour - you must be really out of it.

PLeeease don't worry about posting TMI on here - I won that one hands down a few weeks ago with another thread I started under a pseudonym (don't ask).

Night night anyway!

uwila · 09/03/2005 20:35

OMG, Clean up your conversation Junies! Lippy on all fours... now there's an image I could actually have done without. And, no offense Lippy, a couple other comments on here I could have done without. Lippy, just for revenge, I hope you dream about Pee Wee Herman tonight.

Nab No idea what was said except what was typed in the thread, but all I can really say is F*CK 'EM. I got the worst bashing the other week, and most of it took place before I even knew about it. I'm sure one or two will find their way over here to see what I just wrote. But, I don't really care. These things do blow over, and some people just act like juvenile playground bullies. This is not a characteristic of MN. It is a characteristic of people some of whom happen to post on MN. I love this thread (cheap and dirty as it may be!). It's fun. And in a time when my marriage is a bit less than I had hoped for and I an teeting on the brink of financial ruin, and my job bores the hell out of me, and my nanny gets on my nerves cause she thinks her views are worthy of overriding mine and... oh yeah, and being pregnant. Anyway, this is little heaven at times. I hope you'll stay. We miss you already.

Oh yes, Hilton Head. 'Tis a nice resorty beachy golf heaven type of place in North Carolina (very thick southern acccents around). Why? Are you headed that way? I've been twice. The first time I was 2, and recall nothing. The second time I was in my mid twenties.

charleypops · 09/03/2005 20:40

He He Uwila! I had a feeling you'd be telling us off for being rude

NAB! you haven't disappeared have you?

PinkArjuna · 10/03/2005 00:09
Shock
PinkArjuna · 10/03/2005 00:10

I'm off to bed - nothing to add

Cooperoo · 10/03/2005 05:26

Morning all.
Erm...not sure I want to continue from last night but just to confirm we were asked to bring in our own seive if we wanted a waterbirth.
Oh dear not the best start for everyone. SORRY SORRY SORRY.
On a brighter note the sun is shining and we are off to Musical Tots this morning which should be fun.
Nab- What Uwila wrote made good sense too. I noticed you posted again on the buy and sell, why not give that thread a break for now? Uwila weathered a HEAVY storm that was VERY personal and completely unjustified, a catalogue of misunderstandings, but it is over and things move quickly on this site.
Sorry Pink for your . We should have had a warning .
Is it me or are there a few regulars we haven't heard from for a while. I am not very good at keeping up with the names but Welshmum ? Scraggy ? and others where are you?? Hopefully off having a life instead of a MN habit
Have a happy day all.

uwila · 10/03/2005 08:40

Mornin' everyone... There's really only one thing to do when you are pregnant and people piss you off: eat chocolate. Trust me, I have the arse to prove it.

Morning all! Lots to catch up on but I shall refrain from commenting on some of the fruitier topics of yesterday (Trying to spare your delicate sensibilities, uwila!)

Nab, hope you are still around.

Coop - I don't think anyone's staked a claim on Lua's sling. I'd be interested but I've already been given one sling so not fair to be greedy

Anyone else watch Jamie's School Dinners last night? As usual he managed to find a gastroenterologist to tell him information that was beyond belief.

Shockingly, after all the travel system chat yesterday I actually had a moment of thinking about it myself. We have a travel system on offer from my SIL which is prob why I haven't put much effort in so far but I would like to buy a new one as I'd like a lie-flat seat for when the bean is v little. I actually don't rate the Jane as a sitting up seat for later on, I think we might go with an Isofix one when the bean is old enough for stage 1. Also I'd like a pram with a 'lie down and wriggle around freely' option, my mum was horrified when nephew number 3 had to be strapped into his car seat whenever she wanted to take him out for an afternoon stroll (which was every day, as my mum is a great believer in the afternoon stroll).

Anyway, my feeling is to go with the Jane, with an Isofix car seat to follow. But I feel the combined wisdom of the group should be applied to this, so all advice is welcome.

uwila · 10/03/2005 08:50

Oh yuck! Can we clean it up a bit today????
