katie you are amazing! veggie lol at your headline!

Olipop · 30/09/2008 07:02

Good morning girls - just tried to catch up..sorry to all of those of you feeling grotty. Katie that is crazy..brave but crazy so glad you are ok! My DH would have gone ballistic if I tackled a knife wielding thief!!!
I've only got 3 weeks until I pack up work! So much leave to take and only doing 2 days a week means finishing on the 16th oct. I'm a bit worried that it is a bit early but I am planning on getting very very organised (in fact...managed to get about 7 christmas presents yesterday!)
We've got builders in at the moment doing lots of odd bits in prep for turning the study junkroom into a nursery. They are taking quite a while but when it's done I can really start nesting. I am going to buy a feeding chair this time as I struggled with an unsupportive chair last time round.

Verso · 30/09/2008 07:41

katie Bravo!

Not much to add except still feeling dreadful. Up half the night with a dry cough - am exhausted. Feel I ought to be back at work today but DH put his foot down! lol. Going back to bed shortly.

pixsix · 30/09/2008 07:47

Verso good for your dh! Hope you get some rest today.

katie3677 · 30/09/2008 08:35

Thanks everyone, at least someone appreciates my heroism. Seriously, DH was absolutely furious with me, can understand why, but what was I supposed to do, just sit there? I thought he might be a little bit proud of his good citizen wife!

daisydora · 30/09/2008 09:14

effie pmsl at the pumkin!!! I love it but as baby keeps kicking me in the bladder I'm not sure how I'd make it the toilet!!!!!!

Have just rung work and told them I'm not in, and dropped DD at nursery - duvet here I come. Although have just realised I was so keen to get back to bed I never said 'bye' to DD Not that she noticed anyway, she was straight in to the toys before they had even opened the door!!!!!

SummerLightning · 30/09/2008 09:37

katie you hero, if there is a local news article written on the internet you have to post it here!

I have a new hobby, finding hard bits on my stomach (knees, feet, etc I assume) and prodding them until they move! . Is that cruel?

verso your husband is right, you need rest! Hope you get better soon!

rosmerta · 30/09/2008 10:29

Oli, my sil bought a feeding chair for about £80 off the internet. I'll try & find the site she used if you like.

verso good on your dh, hope you get lots of rest

I feel rubbish today as well. Ds woke up about 2am, ended up bringing him into bed with us about 4am, finally got back off to sleep but I've woken up with a cold & cough. Thank god its a nursery morning for ds so I can get a bit more rest.

Hope everyone else is ok

RhinestoneCowgirl · 30/09/2008 11:31

Hey all - hope all your bumps are growing nicely

Just read about katie's exploits - brave crazy lady!.

I'm one of the RHneg ones, so jabbed in the thigh last week with anti-D. MW v nice and experienced so didn't hurt too much. She even manages to get blood out of my silly little veins with minimum of fuss - hurrah. She did say that mini cowgirl/boy is breech atm, which would probably explain why it feels like someone is constantly kicking my pelvis. She said that there is plenty of time for them to turn, but have been hanging out on all fours just in case.

A bit like Olipop, I'm finishing in 3 weeks time as I have reams of leave to take, so official ML will kick in at 35 weeks. Feel too knackered this time to carry on to the bitter end, so sympathies to those working longer and with commutes too.

Veggiemummy · 30/09/2008 12:03

good idea on the feeding chair olipop i had a bad neck after DS's birth (a very weird thing to injure during birth i know but managed it) and so bought a proper nursing chair and it was a godsend.

feeling very rough today too, luckily DH working from home this half of the week so i had a big sleep in and feel almost human. Glad your DH made you stay home verso. Katie still think what you did was amazing but can see why your DH is upset, though i think he will relent and at least adit that it was spectacular feat of lady strength and bravery.

JollyBear · 30/09/2008 12:09

Hello all,

Thanks to everyone with the cramp advice. I'll get stuck into a banana and glass of milk and bedtime and see how that goes .

Wow katie that is amazing! Well done, you are much braver than me. I'd have hidden in the car and written down the numberplate

Aw, mibbes you are bound to be feeling emotional. Can you not take a few days off sick to have a good rest? Sounds like your boss is very unappreciative of you struggling into the office.

I've just returned from my growth scan and everything is measuring perfectly I'm very relieved.

Hope you both have restful days and get better soon daisydora and rosmerta.

waitinggirl · 30/09/2008 12:10

katie - you are my hero - i think that's the best thing i've heard in ages. suppose with hindsight you think ohmigod what have i done? but at the time instincts take over.

a while ago, when i had no job, boyfriend had just left me and i was feeling v sorry for myself, i found a 14 year old in my car who was trying to steal the car radio. i was wild with indignant fury, pulled him out and started bashing him about the head in a wildly ineffectual way. he ran away, but who knows, he could have had a knife (was living in Clapton, London - fairly dodgy), but luckily enough he didn't. i was just so so angry, and nothing could make me think rationally. the police then came, and like your DH were somewhat displeased with my course of action.

well done! veggiemummy's headline is fab

EffiePerine · 30/09/2008 12:18

at waitinggirl taking on a car thief in Hackney!

Veggiemummy · 30/09/2008 12:46

i once squealed and dropped all my twisties when a man pulled a knife on me, then upset 2 old ladies by calling him an A...hole when he ran off (with nothing)

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 30/09/2008 13:13

dropped all your twisties?

SummerLightning · 30/09/2008 13:15

All this knife pulling very scary
Though I did have a woman pull a baseball bat out of the back of her car and threaten to beat me with it once...I ran away. I got in trouble with DH for that one, as I had confronted her after she tried to run me over on my bike.

And what does dropping all your twisties mean?

reban · 30/09/2008 15:15

Hi all .. i am giving you all forewarning i am about to ramble!but before i do mibbes so sorry you have had the stress of another bleed and typical arse of a boss .. next time just go home xx
katie crazy crusader! def get your name in the paper .. you might get some free nappies out of it (or something luxurious for yourself!)
to all those feeling ill and tired at the moment big hugs and you have my sympathies xxx

well i went for another growth scan today (my 9th scan to date) and yet again baby is still on the small side of normal (10th centile). There are 3 possible reasons

  1. chromosone disorder - this was pretty much ruled out by nuchal scan and bloods at 12 weeks as i had 1 in 10000 chance if baby having downs and 1 in 18000 chance f baby having edwards sydrome.
  2. issues with placenta / baby feeding .. to determine this they need to keep an eye on fluid levels (so i am having another scan next week specifically to check this).
  3. i am just having a small baby ( my first was 6lb 5oz so along the same sort of centile as this one seems to be for my height and weight .. im 5ft7 and normallly about 11 stone).

Now the most likely is baby is just on the small side but i cant help worry .. they even started talking about possibility of giving me steroid injections and delivering the baby early if there is any deterioration in fluid levels. My DP has said that i need to stop stressing but i have had complications and stresses with this pregnancy from day 1 and its getting a bit much now i really thought today i would go to the hospital and they would say, "oh that's great baby is looking on the big side now everything will be fine" especially as everyones favourite comment at the moment is "God your big" (i have put on a total of 13 ponds by the way so am not that big) ...
sorry for rant but really stressed and feeling sad, just cant understand why my fourth baby could be smaller then second and third for no reason

waitinggirl · 30/09/2008 15:26

oh, reban - that does sound difficult. i don't know what to say, really, apart from you are allowed to worry about this, but also try to keep a part of your brain objective and listening closely to the doctors and the people in the know. if you can try to have both subjective and objectives parts of you working at the same time you might be able to limit the worrying to the things you have some control over and not about the things you don't. and sometimes you just need time for your brain to digest these things and for them to sink in and then you can start thinking clearly. good luck.

EffiePerine · 30/09/2008 15:41

reban

how many weeks are you now? I have another growth scan booked for 32 weeks and am also worried about baby not growing properly. Really don't want him to arrive early if poss - all the 'what if's' about early induction/CS are practical, but hardly reassuring.

The extra monitoring is a stress, great that they are picking up things but I get fed up of them finding yet another problem whenever I wander through the door.

Fingers crossed it is just a small baby, and that anything else is picked up quickly.

reban · 30/09/2008 15:49

thanks wg and effie .. im 28+3 and have a scan arranged next week specifically to look at fluid levels and then another growth scan week after that. Like you effie its the what ifs and the xtra problems found on each appt, that im finding very hard to cope with xx

Beans33 · 30/09/2008 15:52

Oh reban - how frustrating not to know whta it is, but v reassuring that they're keeping an eye on things for you. As waitinggirl said, try to listen to what they say as it may yet be nothing more than just a small baby. I don't really know what to say either, but chin up and will keep fingers crossed re everything being ok.

What are the next steps they're taking?

EffiePerine · 30/09/2008 15:54

yes the uncertainty is bad

also I am ungrateful and mardy as I had a straightforward pg with DS and can't see why I couldn't order another one of those (not that I have had any major probs so should really stop complaining)

I keep thinking X weeks is good tho - 28 weeks is a good milestone I think? (I'm 27 atm)

Beans33 · 30/09/2008 16:13

I'm 30 weeks now - a girl at work had her little boy at 30 weeks and all was well.

Even when it takes my breath away, I love feeling the little thing moving around in there. I have no idea what parts of the body are poking up though. does anyone else find it fascinating watching their tummy change shape?

Wish I knew which position it was in!

Beans33 · 30/09/2008 16:14

PS A friend of mine just had her 20 week scan and found out she's having a boy. I have such mixed feelings - on one side I'm really jealous that they know and on the other I still like not knowing!

When I touch my tummy, even gently, it often kicks off another movement fest. I do quite like poking at the bump and seeing what happens, like you SL!

Beans33 · 30/09/2008 16:31

I'm off now guys, speak tomorrow.
hope all have a lovely evening.
