Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

And I only know position since my midwife knows where I live from seeing me after I had DD and she also knows I have a phobia of hospitals, so think she was getting me prepared for the possibility of a caesarean early on. Plus they had a student midwife in so I was guinea pig for her to work out the position - which she failed miserably in, must be harder than it looks.

HeathersMummy · 30/10/2008 17:55

Well, just back from midwife appointment and baby is now breech I know there is still plenty of time for bub to turn, but I really feel like this pregnancy is putting me through the wringer now - anything that can happen to complicate things has. Also been told that despite hospital phoning me last week to tell me that GTT was all clear, my fasting test was a bit high, so I've to go to the diabetic clinic
DH and I had already decided that this would be our second and last DC, but I'm so glad I won't be going through all this again.
Sorry this message is a bit gloomy I just feel like I've had the stuffing knocked out of me today.

Chocsolot · 30/10/2008 18:05

Hi everyone,

Sorry i haven't posted for a while have been very busy and then very ill (do i ever learn!)

Welcome LizNay, its great you could join us for what must surely nearly be the home stretch now.... sure feels like it.

We had a great time at the baby show, they had those 4D scans on discount so we had one and we decided on the spare of the moment to find out what it was after all...... we're having a little girl, I am so so excited and so glad we found out now

She has definately got a lot stronger too and is moving around loads whch is really nice because i was very envious of you all when yours started kicking and i didn't realise mind had until about a month after.

We ordered our pushchair at the baby show too, we did go for the Loola in black in the end, i can't wait for it to arrive.

I too have ad stretch marks now on boobs and bump, it just isn't pretty, they look worse some days than others so i just keep piling the bio oil on.

My DH has decided to plaster the nursery himself to save money.... its taking ages and the house is a state, its such a messy job that we dare not buy anything else yet, its all stressing me out a bit, i just want to get on and buy things and make things clean and tidy, no such joy.

Hope you are all feeling OK though and not too achey and tired.

Chocsolot · 30/10/2008 18:08

I am so sorry to hear that HeathersMummy it certainly doesn't sem to have been an easy run for you. Hope the diabetic clinic goes OK, fingers crossed baby turns very very soon.... there's still time....... you deserve some let up!

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/10/2008 20:43

Hi - Mind if I join? I am due 13 Jan but tis twins so good chance will be early. How is everyone doing?

rrrayray · 30/10/2008 21:42

My goodness you ladies have been SOooooooooo busy posting!!!

My bump has grown so much the past week or so, and my belly button is now thinking about coming out, its sticking half out! Funny!!

Welcome to the newbies. Tallulahbelle- everyone is welcome! :D

Just had a lovely dinner at an italian with one of my best friends i havent seen in ages, although feeling very full!!!

rrrayray · 30/10/2008 22:37

NEED ADVICE- Has anyone flown about this point in pregnancy before?

well i'm flying to spain on sunday, so i will have just clocked over 28 weeks. i think i should have a medical note to fly because of this, but ive been so silly & left it REALLY late.

My doc is on holiday, i REALLY can't be bothered to see another one (lazy i know) Do you think i should chance it? I'm Really still quite dinky for dates.... If i say i'm say 24 weeks (in the right clothes i dont even "look" that) or something, do you think they will challenge me?

I think i've sort of answered my own Question in my head, its not worth the chance of being refused to fly really is it! Doh.... off i Trott to Doctors tomorrow. What a Lazy Cow i am!

rrrayray · 30/10/2008 22:38

moosemama · 30/10/2008 22:44

Hello and welcome Tallulahbelle.

HeathersMummy, sorry to hear you are having such a tough time of it. Hope things get easier for you.

Well folks, wish me luck, have ordered (yet another) pushchair this afternoon and its due for delivery on Monday. Here's keeping everything crossed that I actually get a pushchair this time.

Have gone for the Baby Jogger City Classic in black and will add a 'Soft Pram' (sort of carrycot pod thing) and some adapters which will fit our car seat to hopefully make it a good all rounder.

chefswife · 31/10/2008 03:06

moosemama why would weighing a pregnant women cause 'an increase in pre-term delivery and growth retarded babies'? i've gained 18lbs so far (i think that's a stone and a half). i've been walking for one hour everyday to keep moving but the yoga has gone out the window. told DH i wanted a treadmill for Christmas. i'll have my fingers crossed till then.

my midwife told me it wasn't a worry really if baby hadn't turned yet. they're still having fun cruising around in there. violet has turned up-side-down but while midwife was examining my belly, she noticed LO turn around back to back. my niece on DH's side was going in for a scheduled C-section because baby was breech and the night before, he turned and came out 3 hours later. 11lbs 2ounces... yeah, that's right. enormous!

we are having a home birth but haven't bought a thing yet. we just bought a crib after soooooo much looookinggggg. i just couldn't take it anymore... told DH to just make the decision on his own because i was beyond it. besides, i'll be the one putting it together which i reckon is going to be a hassle. i also signed up to toysrus' baby registry due to pressure from friends. didn't know what to register but its done now.

still have this damn cough. 2 weeks now. its just taking the piss now i think.

Spink · 31/10/2008 09:59

morning everyone! and happy halloween

heathersmummy you sound like you could do with some pampering and niceness. I'm sorry this pg is being so tough on you. Not THAT long to go now though, and it will be behind you, and your baby will be OUT and with you! Hurrah for that!!

Chocsolot good to see you again, the baby show sounds fab and congrats onyour baby girl, and of course, on getting your buggy sorted . We've been given a Jane slalom thingy, I don't really like it but think we will use it to start and then see what we really need, and whether a double is the way to go... so many decisions moosemama I'm envious you are getting near to sorting the buggy thing too - here's hoping it all goes smoothly

tallulahbelle and notjustaclevername hello! looking forward to sharing the last stretch (oh just realised the childbirth pun, sorry) with you

ray liking your indecisive bellybutton!
Mine doesn't come out, well didn't last time and not looking that way... I have the deepest bellybutton in the world. It used to get called the slot machine. Last pg my midwife thought ds was back to back because i still had a bellybutton indent just before he was born...she was WRONG

and yep, get thee to a doctor

chefswife that's reassuring about baby changing pos all the time, that's what mw said to me too. She also said that because it's my 2nd baby, they really can turn at the last min because the tum muscles are so floppy that they don't offer much resistance... so THAT is the up side..

I am feeling like crap, my preg granuloma (weird growth in mouth) is painful and bleeding, I have a continual stitch at the top of my bump, am dizzy and knackered and am breathless even when I'm sitting still.
The crazy thing is that I know I'll be nostalgic about pg once this is over, especially because we think it'll be the last...

OP posts:
moosemama · 31/10/2008 10:00

Chefswife, I think its because it causes anxiety about weight gain in the mums to be and there is then more likely to be cases of people trying to restrict their intake and over exercise to keep weight down. I don't think mums weighing themselves at home has the same effect though. Its probably to do with being weighed by someone else and worrying about being told off by the midwife or obstetrician.

(btw 11 lb 2 oz - ouch! Congratulations to your neice.)

I'm not that worried about this one being back to back now. She still seems to be able to swish about quite happily in there and seems to turn front to back and back again whenever she feels like it.

Welcome Notjustaclevername. I am expecting DC3 as well, due date 3rd January and have been told it is a girl. Sorry to hear about the spd, I've gotten off lightly so far this time, as was completely imobilised with DS1 and DS2. This time its only really bad if I do too much. Don't worry about coming here to moan about it - that's what we're here for.

HeathersMummy · 31/10/2008 14:03

Feeling a good bit better about things today As much as this pregnancy is full of complications and driving me nuts, I've actually been feeling really well - which is a huge change from my first pregnancy when I felt awful. Going to focus only on positive things from now on
[must think positive, must think positive, must think positive...mantra emoticon]

Congrats and welcome to the newbies.
Moosemama hope everything works out with the pram this time
Rray, I flew at 22 weeks but would go get the letter if possible - better safe than sorry I suppose

rrrayray · 31/10/2008 15:02

mppaw - thanks i have actually checked travel insurance, we get it free through hsbc Premier, and they will cover me to 30 weeks. so i will Just get back in time.

this Thread seems very very busy with posts at the moment!! maybe we should start thinking about a new Thread...Hmmm... think of all the title possibilities!

Chocsolot · 31/10/2008 15:36

Thanks Spink

We got a maxicosi carseat as part of our package, suprisingly light to carry.....

Don't think i am going to weigh myself again.... have put on nearly 3 stone! So am goign for beached whale of the club award (and am still walking 2 miles a day and commuting across london, god knows how big i would be otherwise - praying its lots of water!). Chefswife there are 14lbs in a stone so you are only really just over a stone... good going i say......

liznay · 31/10/2008 16:29

welcome tullulahmamma and notjustaclevername

To be honest I think i've got away lightly in this pg so far, have avoided spd, heartburn, piles etc.

I haven't found out what sex i'm having but i'm convinced its a boy for the following reasons:

  1. I have low lying placenta which leads me to believe that I conceived late in my cycle with a lazy boy-sperm
  2. I'm covered in hair and spots
  3. It 'feels' like it might be a boy

but other than these obviously exact scientific reasons I really don't know what flavour its going to be.
Its so exciting isn't it.

Who else here is pg with their first? I'm worried that I'm not very maternal and was saying to my friend yesterday that I normally prefer puppies and kittens to babies Hopefully I'll be a bit more maternal by the time he/she arrives

liznay · 31/10/2008 16:34

Sorry that should obviously say Tallulahbelle! I'm going mad!!!

stripeywoollenhat · 31/10/2008 17:44

hi liznay - i have a friend who said she smelled like a bloke for the seventh month of her pregnancy and duly delivered a small boy - any suspicious whiffs?

is it more lkely to be boy if you've got a low lying placenta, then?

Spink · 31/10/2008 18:52

liznay I've never really been a baby person and like you was a bit worried but when I had ds I was taken aback by my protectiveness and general lioness with cub type maternal feelings. I even shouted at a builder.

OP posts:
rrrayray · 31/10/2008 19:57

Linzay- I too have a possible low lying placenta (re-scan at 36 wks) am covered in hair and spots, and had the BOY feeling big time.... But We're having a GIRL!! (Well, as sure as they can be!!)
