That'll be a no then JonahB!

Although I did make a New Year's Resolution to give up buying trashy mags - economy drive.

teabelly · 23/02/2005 16:25

I seemed to have missed THAT photo too!! Still as they say 'it's not the size...' and pre dh I made it a mission to check and see if this was true....................and you know what it is

OP posts:
teabelly · 23/02/2005 16:25

Ooooh I lurve trashy mags - spend a fortune each month on them!

MrsWednesday · 23/02/2005 16:29

That was my problem Teabelly - I loved them too much, once I'd bought Heat on a Tuesday I often bought at least 2 or 3 others. Will have to start making lots of doctors appointments to catch up with all the gossip mags now!

teabelly · 23/02/2005 16:38

Mrs W - that's me too!! Heat, OK, New, Reveal, Closer...the list is endless - and they're the one's I've bought in the last week!!! My problem is the train journey to work...I read my book, then leave it by my bed so have to buy a mag for the train trip into work...I tell you it's a good job I only work 3 days or I'd be completely broke (but very well read!)

Lippy - you ought to be able to claim the prescription cost back if you're in the process of applying for an exemption card. What you do is, pay the dosh up front, apply for the card and ask for it to be backdated (although frankly you should really have had one weeks ago but never mind that now) to make sure it covers today, then pop down the Post Office with card & prescription, et voila. I think actually you have to get a form from the pharmacy when you pick up the prescription, but if you ask them about it all will become clear.

Apologies for dragging this thread back from its usual place (e.g. the gutter workings of you sad Gareth Gates/Darius fanciers). Actually I have never seen any pic of Darius, never mind one with his nethers on display. I aim to keep it that way.

MrsWednesday · 23/02/2005 16:42

I find that during pregnancy I don't have the brain capacity to read books - magazines are about my limit these days.

Although saying that, I've recently joined a reading group which is forcing me to read at least one book every two months. Just read the Time Traveller's Wife....oooh, it was fab.

Huh! this week I have mostly been reading Mr Bump, Mr Tall, Mr Nonsense....in fact I could recite the whole collection backwards!!

OP posts:
MrsWednesday · 23/02/2005 16:52

Haven't ventured into the world of Mister Men yet, thank goodness.

KVG, yes it was brill. Very clever, very romantic and very sad. Best book I've read in ages (well, first book I've read in ages).

Oh Mrs W - don't worry you will!!

Well that's my working week about over, hurrah! I may not get a chance to log on over the weekend (as it's in direct correlation to amount of time ds will sleep during the day ), soooo all of you meeting up this weekend, have an absolutely fabulous time...and come back pronto and spill the beans on what everyone's really like, he he he! Have fun, catch you later x.

Uwila · 23/02/2005 17:00

Lippy, can't you just show them your belly and mark an x on the back and sign for your free prescriptions based on maternity.

Maybe you could offer them some pee if they still don't believe you...

teabelly · 23/02/2005 17:00

LOL KVG - well I hope you're going on the northern meet to put this image right!!!

mrs W, that is so funny - exactly what I did. I felt my brain dumbing down far more than I liked so one of my new year's resolutions was to stop buying Heat. Which I've kept (I'm v. proud). I just have to go to my friends and read theirs instead

charleypops · 23/02/2005 18:29

Phew - that's quite enough tiling for today!

Jonah! NOOOOO surely not Darius bleeeaugh I also read Heat etc if it's around (don't buy it though) I love all that soapy gossipy stuff. Had a good read of Inside Soap at the docs earlier, last Christmas's' edition.

Tea and KVG - I DID do some tiling yesterday actually AS WELL as eating doughnuts and I did a couple of other things too - including making dp dinner which I never do normally 'cause he likes to cook so I had a VERY busy day

Lippy - what a coincidence! I got lactulose too! I has my first dose today - it's pretty rank I have to say. I wasn't asked to show my card, I just ticked the back of my prescription. Can't wait 'til it starts working

LipstickMum · 23/02/2005 18:30

Trib, thanks for exemption certificate advice. I already filled in the form at the docs and they have sent it off. I did think about reclaiming, it's the kind of thing I'd neve get round to doing because I'm a lazy arse and would rather sit at home reading Heat!! I did think, Uwila, that my obvious bump would mean they might just give me the stuff for free anyway What's a bit of paperwork between friends..?

More bad weather expected apparantly Gawd.

LipstickMum · 23/02/2005 18:33

Oh yeah Charley, it's nasty stuff lactulose. I have to hold my nose. Works a treat though. Are you tiling the bathroom?? You put us to shame!! My parents are DIY experts too, turn their hand to anything. In the passed it was mainly to save money, now I think it's a habit!! It's obviously not genentic

tribpot · 23/02/2005 18:34

I haven't noticed a dumbing down as such but I think my reading has changed during pregnancy.

My sense of humour seems to have vanished (as evidenced by my posts on our threads! ) and I read 1 page of the new Terry Pratchett before putting it down - this could just be Pratchett overload though, they can get a bit samey.

I read the latest Louise Voss and was rather worried how I might react as a baby is stillborn in it (apols, poss not the best topic for today). It didn't move me at all, and normally I find Louise Voss' books very moving. So either my brain won't let me process the information or this book is not as good as the others.

Mostly I'm just not very impressed with anything I've read, perhaps this is my way of getting used to the fact I won't have time to read anything but Mr Men books for the next few years

tribpot · 23/02/2005 18:36

Btw Lippy - I can sympathise. For 6 quid it hardly seems worth making a special trip to the post office. Fortunately for us, the post office is right next door to the GP's surgery so dead easy.

LipstickMum · 23/02/2005 18:39

Haven't heard of Louise Voss Trib. Interesting that you were 'unmoved' by the still brith aspect. Similarly, I went to see Vera Drake and wasn't distressed by the back street abortion aspect of that film. I'm - predictably - reading the latest No1 Ladies Detective Agency. I have loved all 5 of those books so far, her simple life is so relaxing by comparison to even one day of mine!!

tribpot · 23/02/2005 18:45

God, I have refused to go and see Vera Drake despite my parents telling me how great it is. Just can't face the thought of it whilst pregnant.

I can highly recommend these Louise Voss novels to anyone looking for something to read: To Be Someone and Are You My Mother?

katzguk · 23/02/2005 18:55
